On Sat., May 7, 2016 our family made a reservation for a table of 10 plus a child's seat for 4 P.M. on Sunday, May 8th (Mother's Day). When we arrived we were taken back to a table of 6 and another table for 4. Since our backs were to the 6 person table we asked to be pushed together. We were told this was against fire hazard rules of only 10 to a table. We asked if we could move to a booth across from the other table and then when we moved the child's seat to the end of the table were told this also was against the rules. This child's seat for the 2 yrs. old had no tray. The booth was not large enough to set her between the parents. The mother had to place the seat against the window and turn to hand feed her, meaning she couldn't eat until she fed the child. Obliviously her food was cold by the time she could eat.
What really bothered me was that our family of usually 12 or 13 had eaten at this same restaurant many times( tables pulled together) over the years. The restaurant was not crowded and on the side we were taken only one booth was occupied. When we left they still were not crowded.
Also, our family has eaten at many local restaurants right around this Ruby Tuesday at one table or two pulled together over the past 15 years, and never a problem with or without reservations. My husband and I eat at this Ruby Tuesday's at least once a month and never had any problem.
This situation caused a very disappointing Mother's Day that our family could not eat and socialize together!

Simple answer is they may have gotten caught and put on notice by the fire marshal. OR, being that it was a holiday, they may have not been busy, but had standing reservations. They accommodated you as best they could. Say thank you.
