I bought a timeshare with Royal Holiday and they lied to me at everything, every time I check for travel dates are not available and it's cheaper to booked flight and hotel with Expedia. The service is really bad, I asked to speak to the manager and was told that I cannot talk to her and that I cannot cancel my membership.
Its been a nightmare for me! I was doing a research on internet about this fraudulent resort and how to get out of this fraud, i found this information and i want to share it with you, i hope it helps someone!

we were given the hard sell in the Bahamas, we weren't told of any cancellation methods and now cannot afford the maintenance fees which go up every year thanks to 'special assessment fees' we want out

Our family got scammed by them at the Bavaro Princess, Punta Cana, Dominician Replublic. However, my bother in law was smart enough to use his discover card (which has a better than average response to their customers complaints)...and they are investigating this company and have completely reimbursed his card. He tried repeated to contact the company and manager involved down there...but got no response. But today, when they realized they are not getting paid...they actually contacted us here in the states. Too late...so sorry...but our family has gone out of our way to contact every travel agency we saw at this resort to make them aware of the scam. Our problem was this resort is shoddy...they put you in substandard rooms, with filth, mold, broken furniture, leaking bathroom facilities, ripped curtains, exposed wires, and vents falling off of the walls. When you complain...you are directed to a luxurious pavillion on the resort...where you get the pleasure to meet the respresentatives of Royal Holiday Club for membership. They immediately put you in a room on the resort that has a modicum of what you paid for...and they take the money out of your pocket in the form of your credit card. We realized what con artists these people are...and have contacted the BBB, our travel agency (which is where we picked this resort from their brochures) to make all aware of how widespread this problems is. We spoke to over a dozen American and Canadian tourists, while at this same resort, who were treated the same way...so it is a common practice for them to scam us. I would like for all the resorts who allow Royal Holiday Club on their premises to be involved in this class action suit...as it is apparent they are getting a kick back as well.

sincerely,

Complaint summary: My girlfriend and I were scammed on August 2006 by the RHC in the Dominican Republic. Their sales practices are unfair, fraudulent, and deceitful.
After paying about 4,529.50 to the RHC, we have decided to stop the payment.. We have been robbed. They make many false promises including selling an existing timeshare you have for you; they explain there vacation program incorrectly and fraudulently often misrepresenting their point system and do not mention the cost, fees and miscellaneous charges that are really required; they have charged credit cards without authorization; they also have extremely poor service if you do try to use them. Their management strings you along until it is too late to cancel your contract through normal recovery channels. They assess additional fees at will. RHC give a presentation of deceitful lies. They purposely withheld important details and provide falsified information to lure us into signing up for a fraudulent membership to take our money. We would like to get our RHC account closed, ASAP. We never use our membership since we found out was cheaper to travel through a travel agency than through RHC
We refuse to keep paying for a service we have never been able to collect on and they are wrecking our credit.

dear sir/Madam:

We are the victims of RHC, Cancun Mexico. We went on our first time vacation at Oasis, Cancun on August 24th,2007. At the reception area, the agents dressed in light blue shirts and black pants, were waiting for their new victims, which was us, unfortunately or anyone out there. After getting the rooms keys, etx., they pretend to show you the different resturants and the site of Oasis and Grand Oasis, Cancun, they lure people with $50 voucher for attending a 90 mins conference.

To make the story short, we got up the next morning and as told had breakfast and met with Jesus, one of the niecets young guy, he connect us to Rosalina, the RHC agent, who is incharge to take clients in a taxi to Hyatt, of RHC to show the rooms etc., brings us back to Grand Oasis, and takes us to this room full of people, ignorantly we go in with them, our kids 4 & 6 yrs old get to play viedo games and we get a soda.

Rosalinda gives us the brief about the club, and finally tells us the fee, for the club, I question its integrity, and the price, etc., she cannot handle it, so she calls in Rashid, the boss, who exlains my question, gives us a deal, the best deal ever. 33,500/- for 30 years of RHC which includes $6250.00 to be charged on our credit card, the next payment in Nov and Dec 1st of 2007, and the balance payment in INTEREST FREE INSTALLMENT for 3 years amounting to $472.50 a month for 36 months. we did not accecpt it I questioned, he just got up and told the crowd we are in..and the people in the room started claping. That is it, could not get out of it.

I specifically told him, we cannot afford this because we are going to buy our first new home, but when sigining the contract with Ernesto, the accountant, I did not like the contract, IT DID NOT MENTION ABOUT THE CANCELLATION POLICY..but that is the thing I forgot to ask, neither did they explain to us.

After coming home, we found out the closing cost of the house was much more then the Extimate of good faith, so we called our Credit Card company to file a dispute of the charges of $6250/- initally charged to our account. We also called up RHC, at Grand Oasis Cancun Mexico, and spoke to Ernersto, the account or legal represtentative to cancell the contract, since we cannot afford it for the above mentioened reason, he told us that he shall back to us, after contacting Rashid, the Manager., but never did till today, since than I am following up the RHC, Mexico city because they told me the resort has nothing to to no more, henceforth I have to deal directly with them.

4 1/2 months have passed, nothing is happening till today. In the meantime, I went online with Google and did RHC search, the sscam thing poped up, I joined the group, where 100's of couple are scamed.
I went again on google to search to file a complaint for RHC, and find your site here. Our credit card company is after us for not paying the amount, now $10,500 since after the disputed amount these people went and charged again on our credit card, making the account to go overlimit. Now we have closed the account, but not paid the money, becase we don't have it. can you please HELP US ALL OUT...there are more and more people been scamed as I speak...I wish they know better.

God help us all.

thank you so much, please consider us as one of the 100 compalaints/dispute with the proper authorities.

Anyone can write the contacts mentioned in the complaint on their own. Why funnel them through R.H.? I say everyone who wants something done about this racket write their own letters, e-mails, complaints.

I did some research and found that this is legitimate. R.H. is Randy Hoa, and he is a member of the yahoo group of people who got scammed. It is good to be careful though. I have read everything I can about Royal Holiday on the Internet. I print up anything I find that is new. I have not seen that there has been any successful law suits. It seems that each person who has gotten their money back and out of the contract has done it individually through complaint processes that are shared by victims. I am hopeful that I will be successful since there are many who have prevailed. The banks have to be aware that this is a scam, so I believe that if we push their prior knowledge of the pattern of not providing the services Royal Holiday contracts with the purchasers, the bank would have to retrieve the money. I am doing what one woman did and send all the accounts of others along with my own description of what happened to us to the card company. I was able to keep the notes from the presentation so that illustrates the progression of discounts, and incentives. The accounts of the victims demonstrate that these incentives will never be awarded, and that the whole contract is fraudulent because they never intended to deliver services. Also, the exclusion of the five day cancellation period is fraudulent. How can a bank take sides with the company that out and out violates the Mexican Law?

I believe we all need to fight this. My customer service representative, Carlos, said not to believe the stories on the Internet. That they are lies. Why would anyone that did not have a problem with this company take the time to write these stories? I am not researching companies I have not done business with, and making up problems. These members of the complaint groups are from all over the country, as well as members from Canada, and Mexico. We don't have anything in common except that Royal Holiday has taken money from us and not provided the services they sold. We have no reason to be doing this except to try to get what is ours returned to us.

Do not send anyone your information unless they are willing to give you the same information about them. I do not trust this. This person has not even used their full name, and the initials? Too weird. If R.H. wants to post his or her full name, and give all the information, address and phone about them to us, then we know it is legitimate. I think Royal Holiday is trying to find a way to get more information. After all, we should be careful after what we have been through.

This is a very good idea. I did send an e-mail to that attorney, because I saw a posting by him on Squeakywheel.com when I put Royal Holiday into the search box, but he never responded. There are over thirty stories on the page if you go through that search box. It seems new ones are added almost each week now. I printed these and sent them with my fraud claim. You can also e-mail the authors from their page. I think taking action against the banks and travel agencies who work with this company is important too. There have to be some ethics guidelines in the travel and banking industries that would allow them to alert customers against signing contracts with a company that has so many unresolved BBB, PROFECO, e-comerce, credit card company, etc. complaints. Doesn't that make sense? I might not have seen an episode on Dateline, but if my travel agent had made me sign a paper saying I had been told of the risks of attending vacation package presentations and signing a contract in a foreign country before I went, I would NEVER had gone to the presentation. Anyway, thank you for organizing the action. I hope everyone sends the information and helps prevent others from this situation. I would be happy to some day hear they were put completely out of business and their CEO put in prison for fraud.
