Our complaint is we missed our flight on the 30th Nov from Brisbane to Scotland only because our travel agent Flight Centre Springwood Qld did not fully inform us on our 2.35 departure was a.m as we thought was actually in th afternoon We spoke to someone in Emirates office at the airport who did try to help but unfortunately not enough as we were informed it was going to cost another $1, 700 more to fly the next day and not even coming back on the same dates which was the 3rd and not the 7thJan2013 I cannot believe you charge so much more when its only a days differance on departure. We resally wanted to fly home for Christmas as it would have been the first time in 40years I really think you could have made it a lot more easier for us to go as it is the time of goodwill and you have a good reputation of service Please help

I'm sure you don't like it, but fares are auction driven. The reason why you are being asked to pay more is that the fares have been bid up since the time of your initial purchase. If someone is willing to pay more than you did initially, then the value of the seat is now worth what the last person paid on your newly desired flights, not what you paid initially. You are only entitled to the original fare if you do not change your original ticket.

This being said, if no one else is willing to pay more than the last buyer and the carrier still has unsold seats fare premiums can collapse as the depturture date approaches. If no one is willing to pay the carrier that $1700 premium they are currently asking for, and the departure date is approaching then the seat is really worth nothing. Before paying the additional amount, you should wait as long as possible to see if the fare premium contracts
