Romanos Car Rental Disrespect and fraud on customers

Made a car reservation for one day at Romanos car rental, head office, Hersonissos. The price and terms, including full insurance were both perfect by the manager's words. Asked the car to be delivered to my hotel at Anissaras, and it's happened Romanos car rental has the branch office nearby and tomorrow they would take me there from the hotel to sign and pay a contract and give me the car I wanted. I payed the reservation deposit, signed the reservation form. Unfortunately I didin't pay much attention to what was written in it. On the next day another romanos car rental manager met me at the hotel and brought me to the branch office. Now the interesting part takes the beggining: if I want the car I must pay extra for the insurance (B) by the reason the insurance that was offered yesterday (A) is not full and doesn't cover the rented car damage. Optionally I can have the car for the dealed price, but in that case I must leave a deposit of €1500. I spent an hour arguing with the manager asking to show such terms, that he informed me in the car rent contract (which I saw for the first time) and saying I wasn't told about anything of these - but it was no result. And it was new for me that contract has limited milage: 100 km per day - there was not a word about that yesterday. I asked the manager to call the head office to make up the situation - he answered it not his business. Finally, I found that I was loosing my time - the manager refused to give me the car on the reservation terms and kept demanding me to give him €1500 deposit or pay extra for the higher insurance. Also I was told that they need the deposit just in case I crash the car and then just leave Greece after that - that sounded like an insult for me. I didn't want the car after all this. I asked him about giving me back reservation deposit, he refused my request again: it is against company policy and was mentioned in the reservation form, but if I want to - I may visit the head office (with no result, of course). Got back to the hotel, found the phone and called the head office: they asked me to get back to the brach one... And speak with the manager there again. I was devastated and shocked by what happened there before so I answered that I didn't want the car anymore. But the head office manager insisted that I sould go there again and I would have the car then. I mentioned that it's not what I want to do now and would rather call for a lawer - now the manager answered that I should not make him angry, that he was polite with me... and that he's very busy man, so I can call whomever I want, bey-bye - then he hang up. Rude and shocking again. About deposit - it is fraud by the company, in my opinion: they take it, then ask for more money they wanted before - and keep your deposit if you don't act as they want you to. Good lesson - read everything, ask as much as you can before you sign anything, read the contract before reservation. And not to trust to what they say, at least at romanos car rental on Crete.

Romanos Car Rental unreliable reservation

In May we reserved a Ford Focus for the period 23 July-6 August in Crete to the agency "Romanos car rentals" (http://romanosrentals.gr).

We stressed that we were 4 adult people and we needed that specific car for fitting all luggage. They gave us complete assurance, for several times, up to a final mail received on 20th of July

However, on Saturday 23rd, when we arrived at the airport we found one Fiat Punto, too small and completely useless or our needs. (Other well-established agencies based at the airport, also informed us that Fiat Punto is classified as a different, lower type than the Ford Focus).

Romanos' representative simply went out, leaving us at the airport without any support.
We called Romanos’ office, and they told us that the did't know anything and would have called back in a few minutes. Nothing happened at all, and we had serious problems and high costs for reaching our hotel on Agios Nikolaos (60km far from the airport).

We are astonished and disgusted for such un-professional behaviour, and we hope in some action from the responsabile authorities against such company, for protecting both the tourists and the reputation of the Greek operators, usually polite and reliable
