On 1-3-17 We contacted Rockytopk9s owner Ellen Roberts regarding a Boston Terrier puppy named Heidi. She told us about the puppy and sent us pics of her. We decided to purchase the puppy and put down a $300 deposit thru Pay Pal. We had several conversations thru email and over the phone checking on our puppy before we were able to get her be cuz she wasn't old enough and she didn't think our puppy Heidi weighed 2 pounds. We were able to pick our puppy up on 1-8-17. We drove 4 hrs one way to get her and when we arrived she wouldn't even let me hold her until we pd for her and then she told us we owed her a traveling fee of $60. I told her u have never out of all the phone calls and emails mentioned a traveling fee..her response was and I quote " I'm not gonna do this for nothing! She said do you really think I'm gonna drive over an hour for nothing" I said yes I do expect you to because u never said a word about it! We ended up paying the money and left. She had told me over the phone before we left that day that the puppy had diarrhea with a little blood in it and that she was treating her for it. We were not happy about it but we're so excited to get our puppy because our 4 yr old grandson was at home waiting for her so we just went ahead and got her. We stopped several times on the way home to let her potty and saw the diarrhea..which had alot more than the little blood she had told us about! We continued to watch her over the night till we could get her into our vet the next morning. Our vet determined she had a double eye infection and cocsidia after doing a fecal test! She told us that cocsidia was very easily treated and we found out that is true in bigger dogs but in 8 wk old 2 lb. puppies it can be deadly pretty quickly so our vet started her on albon and fluids. The next day she was still having alot of diarrhea w/blood and we took her back to vet for more fluids. A couple days went by with going to the vet every day for fluids and be checked by them. 2 more days went by with no improvement but she got worse by vomiting after eating or drinking anything and she stopped eating and drinking so we continued fluids daily and anti nausea shots. We even started giving her nausea shots and fluids at home around the clock when our vet wasn't available or it was on Sunday. He finally did a parvo test after seeing all the blood she was loosing and it was positive! Parvo is almost always fatal! Especially in a puppy this tiny..our hearts broke into a million pieces and so did our little grandsons..he just held her with me and cried! We contacted Ellen and she said she didn't get it here! She checked on her a couple times and once she found out it was parvo and I sent her pics of just one episode of the blood loss and her exact words were "Oh my god..that doesn't look good at all does it" I was almost hysterical when I saw all this blood and asked her where she could of gotten Parvo..she said I don't know but she didn't get it here and her 3 brothers aren't sick..but she took her 3 brothers off the for sale Web site and they have not been back up for sale yet so idk what happened to them because Ellen won't answer our emails or our phone calls and she refuses to help with our over $700 in vet bills. So once a puppy is sick she doesn't wanna talk to you or care about the puppy anymore! Does this sound like a caring breeder to you? It sure doesn't to me! But I am happy to report that our little strong, brave, beautiful puppy is now 100% HELL ON WHEELS and is doing much better and growing and is up to 5 lbs. Now. Her name is Heidi but she thinks her name is Heidi NO! Lol We love this little puppy with all our hearts and wouldn't change a thing about her. I know in my heart and our vet said as well that if we were just concerned about money that this puppy would not of made it because she almost didn't.
But we didn't worry about money..we just did everything we possibly could do for her staying up around the clock giving her nausea shots and 1200 cc's of fluids at a time to keep her from dying from dehydration and after 8 days of treating her everyday and staying up nights to make sure we were there if she needed more fluids we were there to give them to her or just hold her so she wouldn't be so scared and let her know how much we loved her and needed her. After all..all we ever wanted to do was love her, spoil her and give her the best life we possibly could..and now we as well as she..has that chance and you can bet she is gonna have it! I tried to post additional pics but files were to big so I couldn't post them.
