Roc Search review: Don't use this company when job-hunting 26

Do NOT TRUST this agency.
They will contact you claiming they have a well paid position and try and capture as much information about your current situation. They will then try to to gain references from your past employers (with or without your permission).

THEY ASK THE QUESTION WOULD YOU RE-EMPLOY and literally capture a new client and then try and re-sell you to your previous employer. This is easy money for a company that promotes a great working environment for their colleagues. All of their positive reviews on Facebook and the majority of other sites are bias from colleague working their or teams they have sponsored. PLEASE look past these positive reviews. They are almost always rude and pushy over the phone, in effective and sometimes illegal.

I had an e-mail from Georgina Burke saying that I was shortlisted for a job which I applied for and when I have time to come in which was on the same day . ( Tuesday 20th June - 2pm )
First of all I was waiting at the door on the street and despite the fact you cannot hear anything what they are asking because of the noise I was waiting for the door to open .
When I got in I saw the guy at the first desk watching you tube on his pc and thinking what a relaxed and nice place to work .
This experience was wasting of time and Georgina had a very bad attitude toward me after she shot-listed me for the job she said the client is looking for someone with more experience . I do not understand why she call me in to waist my time because she has nothing to do ? After she asked me if I want a temp job and I said yes . She went to grab an application form and on her return I was on the phone . I believe is commonsense to wait when you see someone on the phone ( it can be an emergency ) as I was waiting for her . She put the form in front of me and she was trying to show me what I have to complete . I asked her nicely to wait and she told me very offensive she doesn't have time because she is going to a meeting and one of her colleague will come to see me .
After a waiting time I had to go myself to ask if someone will come to see me and Gergina wasn't in a meeting she was sitting at he desk doing nothing and her colleague said she cant see me now.
Another member of staff apologize to me and she asked me what happen but it was too late because I was to upset of their attitude .
I realize how lucky some people are doing nothing and having a job and not bothering to make an effort to do what they have to do .
I advice not to use this recruitment company because is a waist of time and energy also they are rude and careless.
I also left a voice message to the director of the company in regards to what happen but I did not received any apologies from them .

To quote a voicemail "Hi this is xxxxxx calling from roc search recruitment. I've been desperately trying to get hold of you in regards to your CV. As you know I have left you a number of voicemails with out any reply so I'm really keen to draw a line as to wether you're looking or not"

1st - there haven't been a "number of voicemails"
2nd - if there had been a "number of voicemails" and I haven't replied ... what does that tell you about wether I'm looking to not.

They are cheating liars pulling scams. Ignore.

staff was very rude and they asked me my references then next day I got call from my referees asking me what is roc search because they are asking for work or if he have any projects to be done. Then I visited roc search office and talk about what they asking to my referees but then they locked room and keep insulting me for a while and asked me to go away. It was really horrible experience.

I'm getting a little fed up of these scammers contacting me - I made the stupid mistake of sending my CV to them and they've done nothing but hound me for the last 4 months with 'excellent opportunities' but they will only put me forward if they can speak to my referee's first.

ROC search are CV harvesters they have no jobs / contracts or very little so they use jobserve and others to place fake jobs / contracts and then ring you to attempt to get tech references and will then ring your old contract or current one or job and try to replace YOU.

They also own TANK recruitment and do the same because they have destroyed ROC with this practice, do not attempt to apply for any contract or job with them as you either annoy your previous employers with their sales calls or will be waiting forever for nothing.

I was a tad bored last night so applied for one they asked the same questions about tech references I said about the calls and she Annabel slipped and told me they had called looking to get someone in.

They contacted me about a local role. I was concerned that I might have already been put forward for the role. So I tried to confirm this with them. I contacted the interviewer and dropped my name. They are now hounding him with CVs. It interfered with my interview, upset the interviewer and made things quite uncomfortable. I called them back to complain and they weren't even bothered. I will never be entertaining them again.

I applied for a job late last year through ROC Search. I completed an initial telephone interview and then an in-person interview at the company. This was at the beginning of November and despite several calls from the ROC Consultant (Daniel Brommell) prior to the interview I have heard nothing since. It's safe to assume I haven't got the job, but it would be nice to be called to let me know.
A few weeks ago I received an e-mail to my current work e-mail address from another consultant (Sophia Nonini) trying to push their recruitment services and asking whether I had any vacancies. Despite responding to inform her I was not involved in recruitment and asking to be removed from their mailing lists I received a second similar e-mail from her yesterday. This time I responded to her and copied the MD explicitly requesting to be removed from their database immediately and stating I would treat any further correspondence as a breach of Data Protection regulations. Hopefully this is the last I will ever hear from this company, but I guess time will tell...

I was contracted to work for a Hospital and I got messed about so much I have given up now when the contract is up 1 week left to go
they never told me what my hours would be if they had I wold not have taken the work also I have to pay for parking at the Hospital
I have been advised as I lost 2 weeks work due to there poor management and the parking cost I maybe able to get this money back

I cannot advise you on what you should do. However, there are protections in place that provide that a work-seeker’s pay cannot be withheld by an employment business. If you want to make a complaint please let me know. I will need to know the name and address of the hirer (NHS Trust); name and address of the agency (Roc); when you first started work and the dates that you have submitted time sheets but are awaiting payment; the hourly rate or wages that you are due; a copy of your terms or contract with this agency. If I do investigate I will need your permission to disclose your name.

I had the same problem you can use the small claims court to get you pay or you can do it online

My contract is till the end of this year I am now into week 3 a have submitted 2 timesheets
and still not had any pay do I wait for longer with no money or do I cut my losses and leave

I will not recommend roc search to anyone. They given my personal data to many agencies without my permission and i have talked with lady Susanna O'Brien and she was very rude and asked me to go back to my home country.

staff at roc search is very rude and insulting. applying jobs through them is complete wastage of time. And if you are dark skin person then better not take their help because they will not help and talk racist things. It happen with me and with my some other friends.

Today one lady named susanna o'brien called me and start insulting me about my experience. I am a professional software engineer and did Ph.D in Computer Engineering but she said I am not good looking so better I look for job as cleaner. That was strange to hear. I would not recommend anyone to apply for job through this agency.

I have applied for a job through this agency in Germany and I got a call later and lady was yelling at me and calling me many racist things and asked me to not look for work because I am not white man. I have already a case against that lady. Hoping for help from police.

This girl phoned me asking me what my job situation was so I told and I told her what I was looking for and instantly she became uninterested and was like if we get something like that I will let you know then hung up
All I can say was at least she didn't try to sell me the job
But if she would have read my cv I work in finance and I just completed my hr course so why waste the time calling me. No wonder why they have a high turnover of staff. For a recruitment agency they should be resourcing talent and looking for people who have the potential to so and want to do the job. I'm not in hr yet and I've never worked in recruitment but even I know that!

I have in the past six months had four calls from Roc-Search, each offering a fantastic opportunity which exactly matches my skills and requirements. One of these was withing walking distance of my house.
Each call then asks about current job opportunites, interview, companies and agencies that I am in discussion with, and ends with a promise of a job spec and more details over the following few days.
None of these fantastic opportunities ever materialised, although the reasons they didn't were pretty creative.

I agree that they do call about fake jobs, they advertise on jobserve, They ask for references, names and other contact details before even arranging an interview then never call you back. They have done this on numerous occasions. If its Roc Search its usually a fake job!

Don't ever work for Roc-Search in Reading. Their astronomical staff turnover rate is testament to that...
They completely miss-sell the job of 'Trainee Recruitment Consultant' to unwitting graduates, desperate to find their first job out of uni in an extremely competitive job market. They promise excellent career progression, earning potential and a fantastic training programme. As well as a car allowance, private healthcare and a free gym membership.
None of these promises will ever materialise. Firstly you will be pressured into singing a contract while you sit enclosed in a room with one of the managers looming over you, barely allowing you to read and absorb what you're actually singing up to. Later realising that the only person in the business entitled to the promised car allowance, private healthcare and free gym membership is the MD of the company. Don't even think long term ... there's no pension scheme either. Which for a fresh graduate may seem irrelevant with retirement being so far off in the future. But not having something as basic as a pension scheme is a huge warning sign of a company which does not value its employees.
When you finally get stuck in (or should I say thrown in) to the job itself there is no training, you instead are just told what you are to do and expected to get on with it.
What it is that you are expected to do is cold call people on a list without even looking at their CV and 'sell' them a job that doesn't exist to find out information about where they are interviewing etc. so that you can then go and try and get work out of these leads.
But the lying and deceit does not stop here. When you do have a real job you are expected to lie about that too in order to lure unsuspecting candidates into accepting a job that is probably not particularly well suited to them. There are many other unethical pressure tactics used to coerce candidates into accepting jobs which are probably much less favourable than their other options.
You will spend day in, day out engaged in these dishonest phone conversations with people who trust that you intend to help them get back into work, or up to the next level in the career they've been working hard in for many years. And when I say day in, day out I mean 8am until 7pm Monday to Friday, yes 11 hours a day minimum. And if you've not satisfied your manager that you've hit all of your (unrealistically high) daily targets you are expected to stay late into the evening or come in at the weekend.
When you perform well it's never quite good enough. And when you under-perform there is no support plan to assist in improving your performance, you are instead made to feel ashamed and fearful of losing your job. So the highs are low and the lows are unfathomable, leaving you feeling in a constant state of despair and misery no matter how successful you may be.
The company culture, briefly summarised, is childish and rife with bullying, racism and sexism.
So don't fall victim to their miss-selling, deceit and pressure tactics. And if you do don't worry like most of their employees it won't be long before you realise your mistake and leave. And trust me the grass IS greener on the other side.

Roc Search got my to sign a contract that was sold by misrepresentation and then tried to interfere in a different job application with a different agency and threatened the employer with legal action should they continue. this cost me future employment as their contract stipulated that i may not engage in my usual employment field for 1 year.I was told that aspects of the employment were rules under EU law which was not true, I was told i could claim travel which i could not when tried. I sought advice from ACAS who advised the contract was not worth the paper it was written on and when i spoke to Roc Search they said "we do not know who ACAS are".

Roc search Ltd are all grade A a'holes in my opinion and I couldn't agree more the MD and Andrew Mace are two of the worst people you could ever meet. Dirty money grabbing ###. Don't trust them! And never do business with them they bully you!
