RiverView Lodge / Charged credit card after cancellation

When I made a reservation with RiverView Lodge in Hood River, Oregon and asked for a confirmation number, I was told by a man with a heavy Middle Eastern accent that they did not give confirmation numbers but I had nothing to worry about. I asked about their cancellation policy and was told there would be no charge if I cancelled 72 hours in advance. Seven days prior to the reservation date I called to cancel the reservation and was told there would be no charge to my credit card. I asked for a cancellation confirmation number and again was told that was not their practice. Three days later I reviewed my online account and realized that RiverView Lodge had charged my credit card.

I immediately called the RiverView Lodge and was told that my card was charged because I had not cancelled my reservation. They said that they had the "paperwork" to prove I had not cancelled. When I asked for the Owner's name I was told there is no owner and it is run by an "organziation". I finally received the name of the manager, Bobby Kana. The person I spoke with hesitated to give me his name and just said rudely "its Steve".

This is an unprofessional business and from the looks of previous complaints it looks like fraud is a common practice for them.

I will NEVER do business with this establishment again.
