My child who is 17 was interested in entering a singing competition and told me about this ad on craigslist. I immediately went online to see if they had a website and found a bright orange website. Since I have been a police officer for 22 years here in the Metro I decided to do some Investigating. The first thing I did was a WHOIS on the site and found out some clown, not some company owns the site. That’s the first signs of a scam. I then went and called the State and found out this was just set up by some guy named Timothy Wright, and that he is also the same person who owns the website according to the registrar information. I bet you all are wondering why this ad caught my attention. The misspelled words on the sight did it for me. I was blown away on the grammar and the poor sentence structure, and the shady looking website put the icing on the cake. For the meantime, I will keep my child away and will investigate further. I have been told contestants (that are young teenagers mind you) are required to sell t-shirts in order to showcase the talent. This is what I found on their website: “EACH SEMI-FINALIST IS ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROMOTIONAL AWARENESS OF THE CURRENT STATE OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. THE RECORDING CONTRACTS AWARDED TO THE WINNER CAN BE FROM A HOST OF MAJOR RECORD LABELS TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO ISLAND DEF JAM, INTERSCOPE, MOTOWN, CAPITAL, VIRGIN, AND SIGNIFICANT SOUTH, JUST TO NAME A FEW. THE WINNER OF GRAND FINALE WILL RECEIVE A RECORDING CONTRACT WITH ONE OF THE ABOVE LISTED LABELS BASED ON THE STYLE OR TYPE OF MUSIC THEY PERFORM.” Meaning there is some MONEY involved somewhere…. BEWARE! YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF! I will keep you all posted on my findings. TJ Smith

Mr Rj Jones its people like you that make it hard for us who are trying to help these young people get a chance in the music business. It sounds like you have a personal agenda and you know nothing about what this guy is doing or what he has done in the music business. Your in atlanta and just because atlanta is full of criminals does not mean everyone is. Fortunately, I am in the Entertainment business and I happen to know the dude who runs this organization. Even though I might not agree or like the guy I will say he is who he says he is. Everyone over inflates their credentials on the internet but that does not mean he is doing something wrong. I think you are being overly harsh and maybe you need to come check out his event in atlanta when they get there before you pass judgement. I have my own personal beef with timothy, but his attempt to revive the music even though may sound F##$#d up atleast he is doing something positive. If he choses to give money away then so be it and who gives a [censored]? Man this whole thread has been negative from what I read and nobody stepped up to encourage him to be positive or even wish him well. He is still here for a reason wasting his time answering you old ### #@#@#@. I would of already told you to kiss my ### and then not even respond.
Man do your thing and tell whoever text me to come look at this negative ### to leave me out of it. you are wasting your time trying to prove yourself and you know I been there and done that. We at NS are established and done with the negative trash this dude is a forum junkie or a internet thug who has nothing better than to bash people on the internet. You should get a law firm like we did and now we pass on negative ### to them so we do not see it at all.
Oh and btw ..revivethemusic...I read some of those response and if any of them are aimed my way or at my wife you can kiss my ### too. if not kool. evidently you pissed someone off and it seems your doing something wrong to have a whole thread attacking your company. You need to learn to pic your battles. I did research on this RJ Jones and Mr. Jones is a district attorney in Georgia Google is the best tool out there thats why you gotta learn to pick your battles. In the mean time these people need to relax because life is too short

Timothy you definitely surpassed all expectations and you really think us educated folks believe your just giving away free money? Again, It was what I thought it was...a scam...you may think we in atlanta are not familiar with this type of event and you may think you just stumbled on the biggest money maker in the world. but from the way you spell your words I would not doubt you are bright enough to know better.
We have arrested 22 people in the last year with this same structure and you might think its ok but it is old and we know how this operates. So now you say your just giving money away if they do not sell your Tshirts and support your one man cause? You never did answer the most important question and that is "What are you trying to revive?" What artist have you broke into the industry? what major label have you worked for? what we end up finding out about people like you is your trying to make a quick buck and you planned to take advantage of the kids. you put up this misleading bio about yourself to make the reader believe you have accomplished alot in the business and what we find out is you have NOT done NOTHING. We have done our homework on your organization and yourself. We have contacted the State Attorney Office in your state to see what laws are in place to protect these kids. We have your address on Moeherr Drive and we know your place of employment and also the face that your company was just newly registered with the state. All these events correspond with these pop up organizations. Again, you barked up the wrong tree my friend and as I stated before we will not tolerate this in the State of Georgia. You will hear from us soon

The Revive The Music talent search was created to give independent artist the opportunity to showcase their music and receive valuable feedback from industry professionals. The best of each city receive a cash prize of $2, 500 and advance to compete for $25, 000 and a recording deal. Their accomodations and travel are paid for by Revive The Music. The event is free to all partiscipants. Semi-finalist winners are asked to partiscipate in promoting the Revive The Music talent search & network by selling t-shirts with the Revive The Music logo. If they don't sell the t-shirts they are still allowed to partiscipate. The winner from Louisville kentucky didn't sell a thing and won $2, 500. The vendors we use for the t-shirts are licensed corporations. All checks or money orders are made payable to that merchant. Thats all there is to it. So where is the scam? Do you beleive the nationally televised talent search doen't require its partiscipants to promote their show? Do you beleive that major corporations get celebrity artist to promote their goods for free? Well, the celebrities that promote our events don't charge us a dime. Revive The Music will be in Atlanta on June 5th at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Look forward to seeing you at the event. Revive the Music is not a charity organization, but does support a varity of charities. It is a independant artist network.

Now thats real professional, We have a illiterate wanna be CEO of a record company who cant spell and now he has resorted to name calling and instead of running a scam he claims to be running a charitable Organization. This just went from worse to horrible in 12 hours. So you keep inviting people to come see you in action, so just for entertainment purposes and for the fact you claim to be running a scam free event, can you give us an account on what happens when a person comes to audition? What happens after that? do you hand him/her $2500? do they have to sell cookies? go get you cheesecake?
So this is my first time reading this post are you going to attack me too? I have seen plenty of these scandalous events in Atlanta and its something very similar to this. I want to hear what happens after they audition because I can almost guess it has to do with the singer giving you some kind of money, or having to participate in selling something or collecting money or you have some celebrity rapper endorsing you or your cause. Well let me tell you this buddy, I saw on your website that you are coming to Atlanta and if you do come down with this crap I will make sure you and your little helpers are locked up before you get started. Georgia has different laws pertaining to scams like this and we have had our share of Entertainment/Rapping/Modeling working for a well known rapper type of scams. We are cracking down on clowns like you an that is not a threat its a promise.
Now if you think I am an fake like you seem to think these other people are then come on down and bring this scam with you and you will be locked up. The State has had many complaints and some families who have lost a lot of money from con artist like you. From reading the previous post, You claim to have a stable of rappers and you claim to be heavy and important in the music industry and your not. Yes to all of you readers on here this is a money scam and its very big down here in Atlanta. You can contact the Fulton County District Attorneys Office for more Information on this type of Scam.
Some times these con men will pay rappers to use their names just to collect thousands of dollars. I see this guy is cocky and has convinced himself he is doing nothing wrong, but in reality he cant help any of the singers get into the game. Stay far away.
P.S. Timmy come on down to Atlanta with this scam, we have a nice facility for you.

OK DUM DUM! Maybe I can't spell so good, but I can count very well. I'm giving away $2, 500 cash in every city to every semi-final winner. Lets see if this registers in your brain this time. What money am I supposted to be taking from people? Try nothing at all. The contest is free to all contestants all the time. It's people like you that are the true dissapointments. Running your mouth about something you know nothing about at all. When all you need to do is come out and see for yourself. If you did you wouldn't have a word left to say other than you're sorry. For what reason are you really saying the things you do. Its not to help out people because if you was trying to do that you would be sending everyone you know to the event. Whats your real issue? Is this taking away something away from you? Or are you just mad for being stupid. I'm giving away money to artist in every city. I don't charge them or their parents anything at anytime. ITS FREE TO EVERYONE WHO WISHES TO PARTISCIPATE! This poor girl in which you speek won $2, 500 cash and is on her way to the finale to compete for $25, 000 cash.Thats not so poor now. The judges that you heard in the back ground of the video were from a local radio station as well as a promotional director and a Famed well known R&B recording artist. If you really was paying attention to what they were saying you would know it was all possitive. If no one can use the money then don't come out. This is for serious artist and yes you can come out to compete as well. Maybe it will give you something better to do with your time.

PS: the first person that filed the complaint that took place before we ever did the first even, never mentioned his wife in the statement he wrote. Maybe if you stop impersonating so many different people on here you would remember not to comment on your own statements or at least read what you write before doing so. How can you comment in the wrong screen with the same user name if you aren't using the same computer. Why don't you just admitt you're wrong and remove your false statements. Or at least give your real name on one of the many personalities you're using these days!

I regretfully came across this complaint and I thought it would be interesting to do some checking around. I own my own Entertainment Company in NYC and I have been in business for over 25 years. I first read this complaint and thought this poor guy is just trying to make it in the business, then I went to the revivethemusic.com website and was floored and horrified at what I read.
This has scam and fraud written all over it and parents, this is what you need to tell your kids to stay away from and I will point out why….. This website is a disaster and it is all over the place and very poorly put together. What exactly is this guy trying to revive? Is this guy relevant in the business? Does he have any artist that he has turned into superstars? From what I found out the answer would be NO! He has been on this board trying really hard to justify his cause and trying really hard to discredit the people who complained about his fraudulent activities. So lets get into the nitty gritty.
Again, I ask “What are you trying to revive”? We are in a recession that has even touched the music industry. There is nothing to revive and whom ever thought of this idea is not to bright. In order for anybody to revive the industry you would have to have some kind of say so, clout, or be some kind of relevance in this business. I googled this guy and found NOTHING of relevance. He has no artist that he broke into the business, this so called company significant south was registered in his state of Kentucky in 2010 according to the state website. So you say you been in business since 2008 right? Red flag….
As I reviewed this website there were so many red flags and the main one was the Bio.
“As the entertainment industry continues to take sharp notice of his accomplishments and the challenges he has overcome in his successful launch of his own company, and while nurturing the careers of core artist rosters and bringing an array of new artists to the forefront, he has also aggressively guided his company into a future where the synergy of artists, music, video, new technologies, new business models, and a host of unforeseen marketing and promotion innovations are all being developed.”

I would like to know who took notice? Who deemed you important?

“Underscoring Tim’s success as a leader in the music industry is his growth as a businessman through both hands-on experience and professional training. In 1999, he was accepted into a prestigious Advanced Management Program. Designed for working, senior-level executives, the program provided a crash course in contemporary management principles with emphasis on evaluating case studies.”

This ADM program has nothing to do with the music business and I hope the readers do not get confused by this misuse of his use of big words. I promise, I know not one Executive who took this class. This is a joke that this guy would try to create a false picture of his importance in the music industry.

The biggest red flag of the whole site was the video I came across of the so called winner. This young lady can sing and unfortunately she let this guy scam her and the video shows how poorly put together this organization is. The video of this girl singing and in the background is a plastic sign, home entertainment speakers and the thing that threw me off was a wannabe “Mack10” host. You could hear people laughing and talking about this poor young lady. The sad part about this is she was so unaware of what was going on around her.
My advice for this guy and this poorly put together company would be to close shop before you end up in jail or one of these kids parents beats the hell outta you for stealing their money. I bet this guy does not even carry liability insurance and god forbid a kid gets hurt at this event. The fact of the matter is, there is nothing to revive in the music business and people and companies like this you must run far away from. The website will say it all and their website says, “RUN” and the fact that is all over the place says it all. Eventually this guy will end up close and it takes a matter of time before he messes with the wrong child.
By the response from this scam you can tell he is very arrogant, I like the attack on the police officer and his wife and how ironic he will probably be locked up soon.
Needless to say, how can you take a guy serious who cannot even spell “Participate”
Not to bright is he?

The honest person in which you speek is using a false name, impersonating a police officer (a real crime). You have no idea what you are talking about. The talent competition is free to everyone that wishes to enter. If thats a crime I guess I guilty of giving away $2, 500 cash to every semi-final winner in every city we hold auditions. Just come out and see for yourself.

This all sounds like BS. its companies that take these people money give the music industry a bad name. The owner of revive the music should be out in jail with this fraudulent activity. I seen videos on youtube and it looks like a bunch of drug dealers with a 40oz in their hand trying to look legit. Being an african american It makes me more angry to know these idiots are even in business. We already have a stereotype that hangs over our heads and when you see honest people letting others know about a scam they get attacked. Go get a job you clowns instead of trying to rip people off. Your a bunch of no namers trying to be something your not.

I'm sorry your daughter won't be able to attend. I assure you this is real. This is a new talent search for this year. Revive The Music is not a company, but a talent search sponsored by many companies that are fully registered with the Federal Government and the state of Kentucky. This is no rip off scam as you say as no partiscipant will have to pay for anything at anytime. No one is obligated to attend but I assure you the ones that do will be very happy they did. There will be a semi-final winner named from Louisville Ky after the semi-final round concludes. This contestant will advance to represent Louisville in the Finale. Sorry you are angry or have been wronged in the pass. Sincerely REVIVE THE MUSIC.

you must have a dislike for cops and definitely are ignorant to what a scam is. I don't understand how you think your doing something positive when your taking these people money and making them believe you are really somebody in the music industry. My son TJ and I attended your little audition in some cheap hotel with some men that look like they just got out of prison. I was sitting there talking to the lady and i asked her who you all were and I found it funny she said you just created all of this over night. $300-400 per person for some cheap ### T shirts that can be bought for $3 constitutes as a scam especially when you misrepresent yourself. She told me the Fat Baldheaded light skinned guy owned a record label. So i did some research and found you never had anyone signed to a major deal and all you did was took a couple under privilege kids and pimped them out.
The fact of the matter is your a no body in the business and you can make any one of these people wealthy or a superstar and evidently your very delusional on who you are. The lady at the hotel went on to say none of these people are employees and that they all were to help out and some are probably related somewhere along the line. So let me say this JoeyJoe, it will be just a matter of time before you get run out of town and shut down, you will get greedy and you will slip up and that po po will be there to bust your a**. I will do everything in my power to make sure you do not steal one persons money from our city. so pack up and take this BS somewhere else fatman

If the winner is paid how is it a scam? The guy claiming to be a cop is just some guy who was fired from the company and his wife replied negative, the only scam is these people trying to stop people from doing something positive thats why we don't have no major artist from Louisville.HATERS! This is a new company trying to expose people to the industry I think selling shirts to your supporters is far better than just asking for a hand out, nothing is free but if you win and they pay then what?

My daughter showed me a flyer on "Revive the Music" and I'll give my opinion on what I think. Of course she is interested in trying out, but I do have concerns. I haven't called to speak with anyone, yet anyways. I do wonder about the location though. It is going to located at a Best Western that is back in an industrial area of town, which is weird. There are other bigger hotels in the city that would seem more reasonable to hold such a contest. Is the semi-finals location held the same day? If not, does anyone know where and when that is held? If the contest is free, is there a fee to advance? I would assume that the person filing this complaint is reasonable with his thoughts since he is a police officer. And as far as the mention of missed spelled words, I did see a few and probably would guess that most businesses wouldn't miss on that. Oh another thing that I am wondering, this is a brand new company? Correct in that? Only because there is no information on previous winners or cities. Just wondering. Daughter will probably check it out Saturday, but will have to decide further from that point depending on what is said to her by the Revive the Music people.

I received adverstisment on the Revive The Music Talent search, so I myself did some research. Me being an artist myself in search for a big break I do know that there are many people ready to take advantage of young people who really dont know the business side of music (they just have talent). I've researched the local and surrounding counties talent searches and only found one that was disturbing and it was held in Lexington, KY. The one I found disturbing was NOT "Revive The Music". The number that was posted was a working number and someone did answer all the questions I had concerning the contest. I realize that people have nothing better to do than to try and tear down someone else. If the person with the complaint doesnt want there daughter/son in it "GOOD" more chances I have to WIN.

I question the realness as well. I have been trying to call that number so that I can ask some questions and no one seems to ever answer the phone. Very questionable, I agree.
