Restaurant.com Restaurant.com: A Dishonest Business Practice

I run a business that joined Restaurant.com to attract new customers. When we signed up, the rep told us that users could only buy coupons once a month and that we could cancel anytime. But after seven months, we noticed the same customers using coupons more than once a month, hurting our sales. We didn't see any new customers, and it cost us a lot of money since we don't get any of the money consumers pay for coupons. So we decided to cancel.

I called customer service, and they said a supervisor would call me back to cancel our subscription. But after four days with no call back, I called again. They said someone would have to call me back. After almost a month of this, I finally spoke to someone about canceling our subscription. But then I found out we were under a year contract and couldn't break it! I felt tricked since I asked the rep over and over if I could cancel anytime. Apparently, we had to give mailed, written notice to cancel, and it could only be canceled 90 days from the date the letter was received! Even after I mailed the letter, they were still selling coupons for my restaurant. It took another three weeks for someone to call me back. I had to threaten to sue because they were selling $100 for $4 after the 90 days was up. Finally, they took our site down.

Many customers call us, asking if we accept Restaurant.com certificates. We do because it's not their fault that Restaurant.com is dishonest.

As a restaurant manager, I wouldn't recommend any business sign up with this company. As a consumer, it's a great site to use as long as the restaurant still accepts the coupons. I'd call the business first to make sure before purchasing.

Restaurant.com Coupon Sites are Hurting Our Business: A Restaurant Owner's Perspective

I just have to say, as a restaurant owner, that Restaurant.com (RDC) is really hurting our business. They don't support us at all, and they don't even let us know when a customer has used a coupon multiple times in a month. It's really frustrating because we work hard to provide great food and service, but customers are always looking for a bargain and it's really hurting our industry.

I know that 85% of restaurants just want to serve great food and make customers happy, but the other 15% are these big celebrity-owned chains that serve mediocre food and somehow people think it's amazing. It's really frustrating to see customers come in and nitpick every little thing, especially when they're using a coupon. We use high-quality ingredients and cook everything to order, but people still complain about waiting a few extra minutes.

Between Living Social, Amazon Local, Groupon, Deal Chicken, and RDC, it's really hard for us to make a profit. We're constantly nickel and dimed by customers who use coupons multiple times a month and then don't even tip well. It's really disheartening to see our dreams and livelihoods being destroyed by people who just want to save a few bucks.

I'm not trying to buy a second home in Aspen or a yacht, I just want to be able to send my kids to college. But with all these coupon sites, it's becoming harder and harder to do that. I know that some people who make over $300K still use coupons and tip poorly, and it's really frustrating to see.

I think that eventually, restaurants are going to start rebelling against these coupon sites. We're already starting to see some places refuse to accept them or only offer a small discount. It's just not sustainable for us to keep offering these huge discounts and deals.

So if I sound a little bitter, it's because I am. I know that other restaurant owners feel the same way. We just want to provide great food and service, but it's becoming harder and harder to do that with all these coupon sites. It's like getting a colonoscopy - nobody enjoys it, but sometimes you have to do it.

Restaurant.com Terrible Experience with Restaurant.com: Faulty Deals, App, Website, and Customer Service

This restaurant.com is a terrible business. I got a $50 gift card, but I had multiple issues redeeming the "deals". The first two restaurants I went to said they don't honor restaurant.com and don't know why they are still listed on the website. My third attempt at a restaurant this weekend agreed to the restaurant.com deal, but then I had issues with the app and website. The app I downloaded was not working at all, flashing on and off, and not recognizing my log in info. I uninstalled the app and used the internet on my phone to go through the restaurant.com website. I tried to redeem this restaurant's "deal" ($25 off a $50 check), but first, the website wouldn't recognize the code on my gift card. Then the site charged me $10 to redeem the deal, after accepting my gift card's code. Nothing made any sense. I had to pay for it because I had already spent more money on the check than I wanted to and had been sitting there for 20 minutes after getting the check, trying to get the stupid site to work. The site also redeemed my "deal" twice, without warning, with no way of reversing it.

I emailed ***@restaurant.com and received a generic, unhelpful response. Finally, I called today to speak to a "customer service representative" and experienced THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. The man I spoke to was raising his voice at me, blaming me for what I did wrong (?), saying "you're the one not letting me help you", just being completely rude and not helpful. I actually asked him if he had any previous customer service experience because he certainly wasn't acting like it. I asked if I could speak to someone else, to which he responded that I could call back but he would not transfer my call (which I couldn't do as I was calling on my break at work after already waiting 15 minutes to talk to this schmuck). He kept repeating that restaurant.com had a "no refund policy", which also wasn't making sense considering they charged me to use a gift card?! Finally, he placed me on hold for a couple of minutes and then came back on and told me that they will be refunding the $10 charge.

Here's why I hate this business - restaurants don't honor the "deals", faulty app, faulty website, got charged to use my gift card, terrible customer service. I will be throwing away the gift card that still has $25 on it. It's not even worth it.

Restaurant.com They sell fake gift certificates

As a restaurant owner I have customers come and try to use the gift certificates they bought on restaurant.com only to find out the restaurant never authorized them. they produce fake gift certificates at drastically reduced prices.

Emailed them to stop their practice and threatened them with a lawsuit to no avail. They copy the restaurants website images to make it look authentic.

Please don't use them you will be scammed.

Restaurant.com After ordering food, the restauarant said "We have no relation or contract with Restaurant.com. "

Tried Restaurant.com for first time. Went to The Fishery in Wyoming, MI. Ordered food and presented the coupon and the responded that don't, and never have, had a contract or relationship with Restaurant.com.

They also told me others have tried using coupons there, too. On top of tht, the picture of the restaurant is not even a pic of the place. The Fishery is primarily a take-out store or dine in with plastic forks, cardbords foor holder, etc. It is actually decent food but I think Restaurant.com is a scam

Restaurant.com 2$ for 5$ voucher at granby bistro & deli

I purchased two of the 2$ for 5$ voucher at Granby Bistro & Deli, 225 Granby St
Norfolk, VA 23510 one for me and one for my friend. And when we arrived at the restaurant and ordered food we made sure to meet the minimum spending amount of 10$ each. However when we showed the voucher to the clerk at the register, he said he had no idea what Restaurant.com even was, and when he contacted the manager they said that their company had no such account with the website. We ended up paying full price for the meal to not cause any inconvenience.

Desired outcome: Refund of the two vouchers 4$ total.

Restaurant.com Scam coupon

Anything from Restaurant.com is useless I had over $500 in coupons and 2 out of 20 restaurants that were listed would take the coupon The only 2 were pizzerias..500.00 wasted. Any company that uses them as an incentive I will not ever do business with because they are just as complicit with Restaurant.com. This has been going on for years now.. I would guess that the companies that use this as an incentive pay 10 cents on the dollar for this trash coupon. They all should be ashamed.

Restaurant.com pepes discount.

I purchased 6 certificates in the last 3 years. I haven't had time to use them until today. Some were expired, so I was allowed to exchange. I paid for these certificates. I went to Pepes today to use my $10 toward $20. My bill came to $31.12, The waitress honored the certificate and gave me $10 off So my bill came to $21.12. My question is what happened to the $10 cost of purchasing the certificate? Was that my $10 off? Why wasn't the cost of my certificate not honored? I feel that this is a scam, and you cant contact a live person. There help desk is computer generated with answers. I signed up for these deals looking for a discount, but it seems that I wasted a $100. Scam for real.

Restaurant.com deals beyond meals

On October 10 I ordered 3 Fragrance.net certificates to meet their minimum. However when I tried to redeem on Fragrance I got an error stating the cert # was invalid. I called Restaurant.com who told me the certs were valid & that I should call Fragrance.net. They suggested that I redeem on Restaurant.com & that I would be given a cert # that I could use on Fragrance. However that didn't work out & so I had to call Restaurant to retrieve my cert to show as unused. I have called & emailed many times but to no avail. I even sent images of the issue to Restaurant. Today is Dec 4th & the issue still remains unsolved. Both companies have Terrible customer service & no follow through. Restaurant.com should not sell a service that they cannot offer. This is practically fraud. I would not recommend anyone purchasing any certificates from Restaurant.com.

Restaurant.com They ripped me off to the tune of $505!

On october 28, 2013, I had accumulated over $500 of gift certificates from restaurant.com. Since none of their restaurants were local to me, I chose to apply/redeem the points/dollars to my account. I, recently, lost my job and realized I had all this money in my account (or thought I did), so I thought I could redeem points to get some free meals. Their website is saying I have zero points/dollars! Ripoff artists! I have no time or money to take them to court, so they ripped me off for $505 of my hard-earned money! I am almost 64-years-old, unemployed, and partially disabled! Grrrrrrr

Restaurant.com the no cancel policy sucks!

Paid $30 and the Restaurant.com part has high minimums that I did not know.
I called 800 # [protected] I tried to cancel within an hour of buying, they said No!
I said the minimum orders are high $20 to $50 and I can not use the food vouchers.
They don't care, no refunds.

If my note helps anyone else...

I wish I'd never heard of Restaurant.com

Restaurant.com exchanged certificates disappeared from my account

On 5/3/18 I exchanged 7 certificates as those were all unused certificates. After the exchange I was offered the option to "redeem now" or "redeem later". I chose to redeem all later. When I went into my account there were no certificates or gift cards with which I could use to acquire other certificates. The total value of these certificates was $115. I have tried all day to reach Customer Service on the phone and constantly received a busy signal. At this point I am reluctant to use this site for further certificate purchases. Could someone inform me what happened to my exchanged certificates? How can I be reimbursed?

Restaurant.com mesa

11/10/2017

I came to Mesa last night and left upset over their policy. I love to eat out and try different venues and foods. I have been to upscale elegant restaurants as food trucks. With these being said I consider Mesa to be in the middle of an upscale restaurant and food trucks. As such I believe their policy and customer service should reflect them as the restaurant reputation they are trying to achieve.
Last night I came to Mesa with a group of friends, we planned ahead and made a reservation to avoid having to stand around all night. The evening started great the bartenders were super friendly, informative and helpful. We started with a group of 6 and were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive (they were running late). We arrived around 5:50 and our reservation was set for 6:10, we were seated and started ordering drinks immediately, by 9 pm our bill was at approximately 550.00 give our take 20.00 dollars. We were still ordering as we waited for the rest of our friends (we had received a text from our friends stating they would be arriving in about 15 minutes), when the waitress/hostess comes to our table and informs us our allotted time at the table is up. We were a little bewildered at her statement as we were still consuming alcohol and spending money at this venue. It has been my experience that the only restaurants/ venues that give you an allotted time are the ones that serve buffet and that's to limit the amount of food one serves themselves in 90 minutes and this is reasonable if looking at it in a business/profit for the place, but this isn't the situation with Mesa. IF we were sitting there and not consuming any food or alcohol then it would be understandable for them to ask us to give up our table because they are wasting the possibility of making money by another group of people that would consume BUT this wasn't the case. We were asked to give our table up only for the possibility of someone coming in and requesting bottle service. If as a consumer you go out and spend a couple hundred dollars for food and drinks I'm sure your expectations of this venue would be different if asked to leave when our night was not over. If I wanted to be asked to give up my table (spot) I would have gone to a whole in the wall and even then I believe we would not have been asked to leave the table we were at.

The only reason I am granting 2 stars is for the bartenders who provided great customer service and who assisted with getting our night started correctly.

Restaurant.com the actual site itself

This site is crap. I thought their would be normal restaurants on hear. I was surprised to see that they had none for Zanesville Ohio but they didn't even have anything for our capital of Columbus either. I'm highly dissatisfied and thought it would be much better then this. I received a $25 gift card and don't even know what to do with it. Theirs nothing close to me and and definitely nothing I've heard of.

Restaurant.com restaurants not accepting certificates

The site rely on the consumers to keep their site up-to-date and even when they have known about restaurants that have stopped accepting their certificate they continue to sell the certificates to unknowing buyers. They might as well sell certificates to any company and restaurant in the world and keep taking everyone's money. I'm sure this is illegal and a big class action law suit is sure to follow.
