Resorts Internationl Marketing is a company that advertises timeshare properties for rent. When I purchased a timeshare the company referred me to Resorts International Marketing as a way to help defray the costs of my timeshare. I called Resorts International Marketing to inquire about the service. They told me it would cost $549 to market my timeshare. They said they would send me a contract to sign. By the time they sent me the contract I had received a refund from the resort so I had no need to use their services. So, I didn't send the contract back with my signature. I called them to rell them I wasn't sending it back and I didn't need their services.

In August I noticed that I had a charge on my credit card for their $549 fee. I immediately called to ask them to credit my account since I had no week to market and didn't contract for their services. I was told by Jenny in customer service that they would refund my money and to just fax her a request with an explanation and note from the resort. I did that. I never received my refund. I called again and spoke with Malik who told me that there was no record of it being processed. He asked me to email him the request. I did that. I never received a refund. So I called again and spoke with Matthew who said it looked like it was in process and he would make sure it went through. I told him I thought I was being scammed and he assured me it was just a mix up. He promised to call me back when he checked on it. I never heard back from him. I called again and spoke with Anglea. I explained everything I had gone through and she assured me she would speak with the accounting manager and asked me to call back the next Friday. I called back and left a message for Angela. She never returned my call. I called her twice more and she never returned my calls. I finally called and asked to speak with a manager. By now I stopped taking names because it didn't seem to matter. When I gave the manager the names of all of the people I had spoken with her response was that Jenny no longer worked there. She tried to tell me that they needed the same information I had already sent in twice. There was no apology. She acted as though it was my fault.I realized that this was another stall tactic and decided I needed to take action because I would never see my $549.

If you are compelled to purchase a timeshare, which i strongly suggest you don't, do not use resorts international marketing. There is a good chance they will take your money and do nothing. They have misled me so many times and after 3 months i still do not have my money back. Imagine, they didn't even have a week to market and they charged me $549, did nothing and kept my money. I filed a complaint with the attorney general in florida and informed him of this scam.

Do not do business with resorts international marketing!

We too bought into Resorts International marketing Corp. We bought 10 years or 20 weeks. We were lucky to be able to use one week in January 2004. When we arrived at the Fishermen's Village - 8 of us they brought us to a suite with torn drapes and it very dark. I refused to take this as this is not what we had been shown the year before. He insisted that was all they had available. I informed that 8 of us would sleep in the main office before taking this shabby suite. Finally they had a nice suite become available. We've tried to book since then but there is never any availability. We were called by a rental property on our return for a fee of $600 they would rent out our second week and by October 31 we would receive a cheque for $2400. Of course that was a scam. After dozens of phone calls we never received any money. We then listed it for sale with a realty company after paying another $600 and never got any offers. That was a total scam. At the time of purchase we were assured that we could get this property. Now they're telling us we can only book 1 month prior so of course February is never available. We can book May, June, Sept and October. A total rip off. When we were there we went to an upgrade seminar but we had arguments for all what they were offering. They gave us our $300 spa certificate and told us that our saleman had been fired because he was giving the wrong information. We were lucky to have initially only paid $4500.00. Because of this we get last choice for selecting a suite. They are selling these every day and with only 80 units there are more frustrated people out there.

Many Florida timeshare sale and rental companies under fire

Florida has launched a war against the timeshare resale industry, announcing Thursday ongoing investigations into 17 companies, as well as a lawsuit against one company.

In 2009, complaints about timeshare resale companies overtook mortgage-related complaints reported to the Florida attorney general.

The attorney general also filed suit against South Daytona-based ResalesBuyOwner.com, its third suit in recent months against timeshare resale companies. Allegations against ResalesBuyOwner.com are that the company forced customers to pay up-front fees for services that were never provided. The company charged customers' credit cards even after they decided not to do business with ResalesBuyOwner.com, the suit says.

The office has also filed suits against American Marketing Group and Hicks Inc., both based in West Palm Beach.

Some 17 companies, many based in South Florida, have been subpoenaed because of complaints about deceptive business practices. Customers have said some of the companies failed to honor cancellation policies, misrepresented the services they would provide and failed to comply with some parts of state and federal telemarketing acts. They include:

• Executive Timeshare Marketing in Tamarac.

• Coastal Timeshare Solutions in Boca Raton

• Worldwide Resorts Direct and Worldwide Marketing Solutions of Palm Beach, doing business as Worldwide Timeshare, in West Palm Beach

• TS Luxury Group in Lake Worth

• C&G Marketing Associates, doing business as Premier Timeshare Solutions in Palm Beach Gardens

• Nationwide Marketing Solutions, doing business as Magnum Advertising Services in Lake Worth

• International Resort Solutions in Lake Worth

• E.A.T. Sales in Boca Raton

• Euroamerican Timeshare in Boynton Beach

• Transatlantic Timeshare in Boynton Beach

• Seabreeze Advertising Corp., also known as SBA Corp. in Daytona Beach

• Timeshare Market Pro in Davie

• International Marketing and Finance in Wellington

• Gold Crown Property Management in Dunedin

• Vacation Property Resales doing business as BUYATIMESHARE.COM in Tampa

• Timeshare Only in Orlando

• PFS Concepts, Inc., doing business as US Vacation in Largo

Already, the state has settled with seven timeshare resale companies, including about $100, 000 for customers of World Timeshares of Deerfield Beach; about $90, 000 from Timeshare Travels of Boca Raton; $36, 000 from Preferred Vacation Resorts of Clearwater; $26, 000 from D&D Vacations, doing business as United States Property Services, of Largo; about $37, 000 from S.F.C. Group, doing business as TWA Resale, of Orlando.

On Thursday, the state noted one of its largest settlements with a timeshare resale company. Virtual Group of Orange County, which goes by the name Realty Trade, has paid $800, 000 in refunds to customers and will pay $500, 000 to customers who request refunds in the future.
