Removal Group Move from Belgium to Usa

BIG TROUBLES WITH REMOVAL GROUP !

This is the wort experience of my life with movers !

I was quoted a 4 to 6 weeks move from Belgium to USA and it has been 5 weeks and my move hasn't left the UK !
I call them everyday to see the status and they don't know when it is leaving !
I was told i would have my own container and they came with a truck already loaded with another move. I asked for a hoist that they forgot, so the move took 6 hours more than what it was supposed to be.

I am going next week to the USA with my wife and two babies and we'll arrive in an empty house !

I am truly disappointed and I really suggest that you find another company to move your belongings

I just hope i'll get my move one day.

Removal Group Very Bad Experience

I had a terrible experience with the Removal Group and would stay away from them. They seemed GREAT at first and were very responsive and professional with a good price. I used them for my international move from Bologna to New York. However, they lied to me and in the end I had to take the blame and the cost because I was too trusting. When we spoke on the phone, I reminded them several times that I had no idea about the access into the Bologna city center, what permits may be needed etc and that they would need to arrange that, even for an extra fee. They assured me they had done this a million times and it would be fine as long as they could get within 100 meters of my apartment. I gave them the map, layout of the town, everything and again said that I was not prepared to understand if there were permit or entrance issues into the city center. They rescheduled my move and ended up being over a week late, I had already left the country and was forced to ask a friend to handle the move for me. They could not get their truck into the city center because it was too large and then claimed that was my responsibility and told me either I had to immediately and at the last minute (6pm on a Friday in Italy!) find a private shuttle service, or they would not pick up my things AND keep the full payment for my move. Or they could arrange a shuttle service and charge me an extra $3000! So they basically screwed me and there was nothing I could do, I begged for help from my old company, found a way to make it happen but was never compensated for any of it. Now, my things have arrived and there is some damage that I need to claim and I can't even get a form from them. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, I felt completely hostage to them and I would actually sue if I thought it wouldn't be prolonging the nightmare. Long story short, DO NOT USE THE REMOVAL GROUP.

Removal Group never processed our insurance claim

Hello all I just wanted to say that I am sorry I have never handled a move before and we chose this company that also scammed us. They did not arrive on time to box our shipment, kept my husband up until 4 am to do it, never did an inventory, the "experienced packers" were 19 years old. Once we were abroad they never contacted us. The move arrived 3 months late with lots of damage. We started the claims process and they never responded to our emails and phone calls. Horrible company. NEVER USE THEM. AND REPORT THEM WHEREVER YOU CAN!

I wish there was a way that I could put the clock back. I had a nightmare experience with this company and urge anybody considering using their "service" to steer well clear. The "Removals Group" asked for an inventory in advance of the packers arriving in late December 2008. I duly supplied it and they turned up in a white van to take my belongings to their warehouse. All was well, I thought. I moved to Norway in January 2009 and I had to keep on phoning their office to get a date and time for delivery. Eventually my things were shipped in February. I helped them carry the boxes and furniture into my new place. To my horror, there were many breakages, missing items etc. and my mattress was badly stained and the bed and sofa were both damaged. Worst of all, my 32" flatscreen TV was "missing". They claimed it was never on the inventory. One of the men who had been at my old place to pack my things in the UK was also driving the truck on which my belongings were a "part load". When I questioned him on the missing TV he denied any knowledge and claimed that it was nothing to do with them and I should contact "The Removals Group". Britannia Removals (the company subcontracted to do the shipment) also denied any responsibility, even though one of their men had been present during the pick-up in December. I was left with a lasting mistrust of any company that is offering something so cheap - if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Don't touch this company with a barge pole, you'll regret it for sure.

Removal Group poor service overcharged

At first all was well, the quote was relatively competative and the staff attentive and friendly. On the day of the move, the guys turned up and they were good and polite and worked hard. I noticed that they did not work for Removal group but were a company called britannia, Removal Group I found out are simply a broker who pass on your business to a real removal company after loading on a commission for themselves.
I constantly checked with the guys loading the vehicle that I was within the volume I had paid for which they assured me I was.

That's the end of the good news. My belongings were taken to the main depot 160 miles away and packed into the big truck ready for departure along with other customers goods. That is when I received the call to say that I was over my volume by 36% that is over 14 sq m. That was unbelievable but I was told that unless I paid immediately my shipment would not leave. My family and I were moving the next day and faced the prospect of living in an empty house whilst we argued or we paid up and dealt with it later. I had no choice.

When the truck arrived, I asked the guys unloading to check the volume and they confirmed it was 40 sq m and not 54 as Removal group claimed.

I pointed this out and have constantly demanded a refund but they simply ignore my emails and calls.
I will be taking this up with the trading standards office but I will also find every comments based website I can to warn others.

Believe me, most of the reviews you will find look like they are staged by the company themselves so beware.

I would advise anyone tempted by these bunch to stop and think about the consequences. Pay just a little more and go with a good honest recognised name, it will be cheaper in the end and a better service.

I think it is also fair to say that it later appeared that Britannia were in this scam too so I would avoid them too.

Apparently they have not learned. I contacted them for my removal from Switzerland to Spain. In the beginning all went well and the senior relocating officer was very nice.
the pickup was on june 19th, now we are july 21st, I am in Spain since june 28th with 3 cats and 1 suitcase and I still have not received my belongings...

1. they "lost" my payment

2. they needed additional payment because bulk was bigger than expected...and miscalculated grossly!

3. when they "found" my payment no excuse was made and I am still waiting for the receipt

4. I contacted them several times by mail, they were simply ignored

5. they acknowledged the counting error but now want the additional payment before they send my belongings...

I mailed to them that I wanted a discount for the inconvenience...and would pay after reception!
of course I have not heard from them since and the delivery was due tomorrow, 22nd of july 2010...

I wonder...whom can I turn to to denounce this case?

Removal Group Worst company I have ever dealt with

This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Do not book your move with them.

Our move from the UK to the Netherlands with Removal Group was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They were totally unreliable, told outright lies on numerous occassions and concealed information from us on many more. Our goods arrived 16 days late and during that time we had no idea where our possessions were or when they were likely to be delivered. We had to be constantly chasing them up and, despite many promises to call us straight back, they never returned our calls.

Their so-called 'packing service' was a complete scam. Our goods were already in boxes, but we wanted everything to be repacked more carefully. This was not done and everything arrived exactly as we had left it in the UK.

We submitted a complaint via their website and were told we were not entitled to any compensation as we were in breach of contract because my partner's company did not pay the invoice 7 days before the commencement of our move. They only sent their invoice to KPMG 7 days before the move, so there is no way this deadline could ever have been achieved. Needless to say, we were never alerted to this by our removal coordinator. It wasn't until 2 weeks after our goods were supposed to have been delivered and they were already in possession of all our belongings that they informed us of this.

I am completely disgusted with this company. I am even more incensed by the fact that they have not offered us any kind of apology for the distress they have caused us. An apology goes a long way, but Removal Group simply do not care about their customers.

I had exactly the same experience. Moving from the UK to Norway, my TV was missing from the delivery (which cost me £600 new) and other items were missing and/or damaged. The matress was damaged (expensive matress) and the bed was also knocked-around. The company they had subcontracted to (Britannia Simpson) denied any responsibility and said I would need to pursue it with the removal group. I contacted them only to be offered £40 compensation (a joke, surely) and that I had agreed not to take their extended liability cover (this was never actually offered to me and I received no advice either way). I too am completely disgusted with them and would never use them again or recommend them to anybody else.

Removal Group Shipping delays!

Had an absolute nightmare at customs two months ago from my return from dubai back to dover. Had to wait a just under two weeks for access to my shipment, which included my car!

The company i work for paid for the move which was all taken care for financially. All i had to do was contact a company for a half decent price. Removal group came up best after spending over an hour talking to move co-ordinator Michael, going through all the items that were allowed to be brought back and general waiting times for delivery for a full load shipment. The removal group are operating a broker service and do not actually do the move which was also included in the hour long chat but i was told that a BAR registered company will be conducting our move on behalf of the removal group.

The move itself was fine the lads did a good job packing and wrapping up the plasma tv and family artifacts. Once the shipment arrived in the uk however things did go wrong. due to an administrative error by the company who collected the shipment it was declared that a payment was outstanding. Michael was again extremely helpful and got the ball rolling as quick as could be on a saturday afternoon. he rang on the tuesday to say that it had all been taken care of and was reimbursed by that company for the error. I am over the moon that i got my goods and car back, all in one piece thanks to the great organization and determination of Michael from the removal group.

Removal Group Undelivered and lost goods!

My belongings were shipped ahead of the my orders from the UK to the USA. I was promised I could put things in storage, they picked up my belongings in November and as of 15 January I still don't know where my belongings are. The receiving company has said when they produced my paperwork the port authority in Boston was told my belongings were in Halfax Canada. I cannot get an answer from the Removal Group and (still owing from my move) all the want is their money for an extremely poor service. If I knew who to complain to... fair trading or another consumer service who could pursue this on my behalf I would. I strongly suggest no one use their services.

Ditto. I had exactly the same experience moving from the UK to Norway. Things were picked up at the end of December 2008, put into storage for 5 weeks and then shipped to Norway on a part load with Britannia Simpson (they also deny any wrongdoing). The expensive flatscreen TV was missing (it was in its original box) and the bed and matress were damaged/stained. There were also broken glasses and crockery as well as other smaller items missing. When I complained they tried to deny they are liable and offered my their "standard" liability cover of £40 per item which is a joke. I intend to report this to Trading Standards and Watchdog as they cannot be allowed to get away with this.

Removal Group 200% profit margain

Please never use removal group in birmingham they are the worst company ever, this is exactly what happened to me... They sub contracted my goods to another company (they told me they would do it myself) I told removal group (elisia) that i had 20 cubic meters worth of stuff they then told the sub contractors that i had only booked 12 so they came with a lorry only capable of 16, they went and turned up the next day and collected the rest of my goods, i then got a phone call saying it was 30m3 that they collected, i said i havent got 30m3 worth of goods, they then said unless you pay you wont see the items again.. obviously i had to pay.. i got half of my items delivered to me in spain that was ok until i got another phone call saying i wouldnt recieve anymore of my items unless i paid another £1000+vat to deliver them. so all in all it cost me £4000+vat to move my items which i thought was about 22m3 from portsmouth to alicante. im at the moment taking elisia and her robbing gang to court. in my experience and from what other people have told me never never use the removal group. RIP OFF.

Removal Group Unreliable and unhelpful!

We used this company to move our possessions from the UK to Spain when we moved to Seville in September 2005. The company was extremely communicative and helpful until the point when they took our money (100% payment before they took our things away) and then changed completely. From the moments our goods were taken away, we received no contact at all from them and became frustrated at their lack of communication, refusal to answer our calls or reply to our emails. Our goods never arrived in Spain on the appointed day and we spent three days hanging around waiting for their arrival, becoming increasingly concerned and unable to get any information from the Removal Group about what had happened. Our 'removal coordinator' (Lee Plumridge) was somehow never available to take our calls when we rang, nor ever called back, and nobody else in the company seemed to have any information at all. When the goods finally did arrive (three days late) we found that they had been subcontracted out to another company (Johnsons Removals) and a number of the boxes were damaged with items broken. In addition, they arrived in such an enormous vehicle that it could not park anywhere near to our home and we ended up having to arrange our own transport to bring them from the lorry to our house. The Removal Group never responded to our complaints, nor offered any compensation for the delay or the damages. In conclusion, we were extremely disappointed with the service and would discourage anyone from using this company.

One of the worst experiences of my life was having employed Removal Group to transport my goods. I had numerous items lost, many were broken and I was charged "hidden extras" once they had control. The broker i dealt with was Paul Keene who continually lied and offered nothing to resolve my issues. NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Unfortunately, most of you made your decision by opting for the cheapest quote. The removal Group are nothing but "bedroom Brokers". They don't own any trucks or employ any removal men - they are bunch of scamsters and sub it out to cheap cowboy operators. In future when choosing a moving company - make sure they are a member of the British Association of Removers. This is the consumers way of knowing that you are dealing with a reputable moving company who have a code of practise that thety must adhere to.

uk;
very freindly courteous service. help during the process before the removal.
emails and phone calls from them. i paid the whole cost of the service by credit card two weeks before collection of my furniture. the specified date arrived and the collection was done.
...then the nightmare began!

italy;
removal van? no removal van. numerous phone calls to the company office seemed to get me nowhere as i was passed around to various people. then it finally turned up around 4 weeks later. furniture damaged and boxes missing. as i had just newly purchased an apartment i had no phone/internet connection, gas etc. a cousin of mine offered to help and he took photographs of the damaged items and sent them along with a complaint by email. this was done around the end of november '08. he is still waiting for a reply. i phoned up countless times since then but
could not get hold of the persons who were dealing with it. it is now march '09 and i am now on the net and settled in i am going to contact them further and i will keep on until i get a reply.

THIS COMPANY 'SUCKS', BIG TIME!

Don't use The Removal Group until you have read this - especially if you are moving abroad:

Right from the Managing Director downwards, this company is riddled with unhelpful and/or unreliable staff who seem very professional when they are trying to get your custom but once they have got you their treatment changes to that of a none-caring, bullying bunch of cowboys. Here are just a few complaints and criticisms I have with them.

* They do not deliver your goods - they offload the actual jobs to removal companies from all over the country. In fact they sometimes offload the collection/delivery to small family run businesses that, as proved in our case, could turn out to be unreliable and/or untrustworthy.

* They charge almost twice as much as some firms based abroad that actually do the whole job themselves.

* Despite all the promises on their wonderful website, they did not make an inventory of our belongings even though we ourselves prepared a list for them (which they didn’t use).

* They did not check out the firm that they offloaded our removals to. It was taken out to Spain in a small transit type van towing a trailer like a horsebox. There was only the driver who had to do all the driving, lifting and carrying all by himself – and some of our items, such as the three piece suite were very bulky and very heavy i.e. far too much for one man to lift and carry carefully.

* We were billed for approx ten cubic metres more than we were told when our goods were collected.

* We had an agreement to pay the final payment (approx £1, 300) by cheque. They didn’t keep to it and, despite my protestations, forced us to transfer the money to them, at extremely short notice, from our Spanish bank account. Our goods never arrived as the transfer obviously didn’t have time too clear!

* They then said, because we hadn’t paid the final payment, that they had taken our goods back to the UK – and demanded another £1, 000 to have them brought out again.

* At first, because of our agreement, we refused to pay any more money - we had already paid more than we should have and it was clearly their ###-up not ours! It took almost eight weeks before we finally cracked and decided to pay them the extra money….THEN…..when it arrived it was delivered by a local firm (based not three miles from our new home) who told us that it had been in their warehouse the whole time i.e. it had never gone back to the UK at all!

* Our leather three-piece suite arrived with scuffmarks and oil stains all over it. Many boxes arrived badly squashed – thank goodness we had packed all our breakables ourselves in acres of bubble wrap or God only knows how much stuff might have been ruined.

* When I contacted The Removal Group to complain I was fobbed off time and time again by staff at all levels who seemed either incapable of realising, or just didn’t care, how serious my complaint was. I was told that the Managing Director (Mr David Winter) was away on holiday and I would have to await his return as he had not left anyone in charge in his absence (unbelievable!).

* Eventually, when Mr Winter returned, he promised to sort out all the problems but, despite reimbursing the money for the extra cubic capacity, that we never had, and the extra £1, 000 we had been bullied into paying, he has refused to pay any compensation for the atrocious service we received, for all the new goods and clothing we had to buy whilst they had been illegally kept from us, for all the costly phone calls from Spain to England and for all the stress and distress that they had so uncaringly put us through.

* Then, when I continued to press for compensation I received a letter, via their solicitors, stating amongst other things that our removal charges had been refunded. This is an absolute lie as, even after the refund of certain moneys that we should never have had to pay, we still ended up paying over £2, 000 for the most abominable service and treatment that, quite honestly I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies.

* All Mr Winter has done, apart from what I have already stated, is to say a very nicely worded “sorry” in an unsigned, e-mailed, letter! Now sorry covers a multitude of sins but, whilst it may calm the waters somewhat, in no way does it compensate me and my family for the way we have been treated, nor does it refund our out of pocket expenses!

* I AM ALSO CONCERNED BY THE FACT THAT THERE APPEARS TO BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AS MR WINTER ALSO TRADES AS “SURE DIRECT” WHICH JUST HAPPENS TO BE THE FIRM THAT INSURED OUR BELONGINGS DURING THE REMOVAL PROCESS – AND OF COURSE IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO US BY THE REMOVAL GROUP.

Removal Group I urge you to learn from my lessons and choose a more reputable dealer

I just wanted to share my horrible experience with The Removal Group company in the UK. (www.removalgroup.com). They came to pack us up in Paris on September 7, saying it would be 6-8 weeks to get our half a container worth of stuff to San Francisco. It's January 7th now, and our stuff still isn't here, though we're told it has arrived in LA finally.

The price was good, and the service was great until they took our money. I was told that they would pull half of the amount out of our bank account before the shipment, and the other half at completion, but they took all 3500 pounds at once, leaving me with no recourse. If I ever do this again, you can bet I'll use a credit card instead of a bank transfer, just so I can stop payment if necessary.

Six weeks after they packed up our stuff, I sent an email to Rupert at The Removal Group, and he told me that the shipment was still in their warehouse, waiting for another shipment to combine it with. No notice from them that there would be a delay until I asked, and then it was another two months before they found another shipment to go along with ours. Nothing from them but apologies, never any advance notice of the wait.

I urge you to learn from my lessons and choose a more reputable dealer. The only thing I can do now is try to keep others from making the same mistakes that I did.

I have detailed my problems from Day 1 with this company in a post above, but sadly, the saga continues. Upon posting of my previous complaint on this site, I was contacted by the Removal Group asking me to remove my complaint from this site and if I did this, they would pay me 200 pounds. I wrote back to their email with a question regarding my problem, which they then never bothered to answer. By some miracle, my shipment arrived in Australia, mind you, the Removal Group had the incorrect address on the shipment although I had contacted them several times to change it. Thank goodness Wrideways in Australia were helpful and competent, unlike the Removal Group.

I can only add my voice to those appaling review of the Removal Group. My girllfriend had a move from Denmark to London, very simple, a few boxes and a desk.
Cheap quote, good pick up company from Denmark.
after this, it all went south:
- promised a 7-10 days delivery timing and we were delivered our boxes after 5 WEEKS! The worse was the customer service: no reply to any of the phone calls (5-6 callls made + emails), no apologies apart from a "August is a very busy month"... well don't promise a 7-10 days delivery then - we had been VERY CLEAR on the dates required
- lost a box and did not even bothered looking for it (I had to call 5 times again to get to someone who would finally agree to call the people who delivered. An hour later I got an email saying they would not have the box...obviously they went out of their way on this one! Furthermore, they indicate on their contract that you have to subscribe to an insurance yourself. It is indeed in the contract but is such an unusual practice for a moving company that we completely missed out on this one
- we've placed a customer complaint about 4 weeks ago and we're still waiting while they had said that they would take a maximum of 2 weeks to come back to us
- generally, it is more the customer service rather than the poor service itself that is appalling. This company is a broker outsourcing to real movers, so customer service should be their only asset and it is way under anything we've had before
Try Moving Home Company instead. They were more expensive but they were great on my previous move!

I received exactly the same threat as Jeffou - word for word!

The amusing part for me was when they say that 'IF' I am a genuine customer then I should give them the details and they 'may' pass this on to Removal Group. AS IF I HADN'T TRIED THAT !

Priceless!

After the extremely poor service we had from your company, then the 'return to sender' handwritten on our letter of complaint to doree bonner international which had been opened and read before returning! The stress of 60% of our worldly goods packed by your employees, smashed to smithereens, missing parts, missing items etc etc. 25kg weights put in a box with 3 paintings with glass fronts l! After a trip from Glasgow to Brisbane they were smashed to buggery!

Your salesman did a very good job at promising a very good service but unfortunately that's where it ended. The 'custom made' wooden crates that were promised for my 5ft guilded mirror to protect it? Ended up with a bit of cardboard sellotaped on the corners which of course didn't protect it:/

An apology or even a reply to our letter, numerous emails would have been nice! It's called 'customer service'

I was nearly decapitated by one of Bonner Dorre's delivery vans today. It was reversing into a loading bay in Borough, London, all three guy's were in the van with the rear doors open. The doors sung out when it moved and demolished a parking sign which missed my head and a number of other pedestrians by millimetres. The driver was apologetic but some of his mates wondered why I was livid with them. They did not appear to know what they were doing and did not seem very professional.

Currently in the middle of a situation with Doree Bonner - it was just a national delivery from Scotland to Kent, but upon my possessions arriving I found that one of my computers (I'm a computing lecturer) was broken. Despite taking out insurance, they have tried to weasel out of any responsibilities and until I escalated the matter to the CAB every email I sent about the issue was met with a stone wall of silence.

They're very convincing before the move, and weasel out of responsibility after they have your money.

Similar bad experience with Doree Bonner. The quoted a maximum of 35 days to deliver goods from Newcastle to Gibraltar.
Goods were collected on March 6th. April 18th they are still in the UK and might arrive in Gib sometime in May. They could not care less they have my money and my goods why should they care. Avoid.

Quite simply, I don't know how the people at "removals group" sleep at night. They are very keen to take your money but when they subcontract your precious belongings to a bunch of dodgy geezers with a white van, you have literally no clue what will become of them.

My flatscreen TV went "missing" even though it was on the inventory (they claimed it wasn't). Broken glasses, crockery and a badly stained mattress were among the many horrors that I had to deal with when my stuff finally arrived.

I would steer well clear of this company. It's despicable that they are still in business.

I just popped back to see how these cowboys are doing and I'm amazed. Not only are they still operating - nothing has changed.
Avoid if you have any sense

The same happens to us: very nice salesman who promised that our shipment would take less than 4 weeks from the UK to the US. It arrives on the 7th day of the 6th week. Again glossy brochures, several logos of associations such as the British Association of Removers, a salesman who called us almost everyday before we signed the contract. After this it became very difficult to reach him. We signed the contract on the day prior the pick up of our furniture and still they tried to charge us a GBP50 fee as we didn't check a tiny box called "cancellation fees" : we had signed the day before how could we have possibly cancelled the move! Then a week later we received an e-mail letting us know that our "volume had increased" and therefore we had to pay an extra GBP221 to hire a bigger container. They, of course, would ship our container only after receiving this new payment. The manager didn't even bother to apologize, he rather blamed us. They even told us that they didn't know when the would ship our container. I called the British Association of Removers. A day after, I got a date for our shipment. For information, the company picked up our furniture on Feb 18 but our container left England on March 20. We got our delivery in the US on April 1. On March 29, we were informed that the US customs had x-rayed our container and that we needed to pay those extra charges (US391) before the delivery could be processed. We still haven't gotten the proof that an X-ray exam had been done. Two drawers chests were damaged, but I don't even have the energy to go back to them anymore. Two weeks have passed since we received our shipment, they didn't even called or e-mailed to check if everything was OK. An advice: stay away from this company.
