Hi everyone,

I initiated a transfer of $12,000. and since I was transferring such huge amount they promised me to give a better rate.

The rate they actually gave me was much less then what ICICI would give for 5000$ and they told me there would be no fees. Instead they charged me $15+Rs200. They also promised me a bonus, but leave bonus of Rs 250, they charged me so much money on top of It.

Also, many branches of banks are not listed with them, so you have to pay Rs 150 extra for your demand draft.

Seriously they are big cheaters, first their representatives will call you everyday and bug you and the moment you will initiate the transfer and when they will cheat on you, you will not be able to get hold of them.

I would strongly recommend not to use REMIT2INDIA, if you want your money to be safe.

Offer advertised mentioned an additional 15p per sterling transferred. The money was however transferred at the going rate during the day and the additional 15 p was camouflaged by saying that the real rate was 15p lower.
Additionally, poor customer service, with no supervisor support during now IST working hours when their target market is NRI's !

Transfer amount GBP 20, 000

This company is falsely advertising gimmicks to cheat people. Their ad states 1 USD = Rs Zero Transfer Fee. Avail All Time High Exchange Rate!. They do not have any program with zero transfer fee. The rates advertised today is Rs 65.66 to a dollar. Then they claim that it is only a indicative rate. It will take 5 days to reach India. Complaints from other posters indicate that the money has not reached the recipients even after 10 days.. Their competitor Xoom.com advertises that money will be transferred with 4 hours of submission during Indian banking hours and they have lived by it . They give you a fixed rate at time of transfer and that is exactly what they deposit in the Indian bank. Remit2India should be barred from doing business in USA. They have notorsiously cheated hundreds of innocent residents

I have received numerous unsolicited emails from remit2India after using there service once. I never subscribed to any email lists nor approved for any emails to be sent to me. I have received emails from them on numerous occasions as well as from tomspecials.com with Remit2India in the subject line as if they sold my information to 3 party sources.

I can't believe this company is getting away with this especially that they deal with highly sensitive personal information that is entrusted to this company.

I do not think you will ever hear from your criminal friend again as he now knows you have caught him. Let your experience be a lesson to others to be very cautious with men you meet on the net.

Please stay away from this company, I wouldn't even refer my enemy to this company:
Its been 1 week since I Initiated a transfer. It is stuck in compliance department, and everytime I call they say you will receive a call shortly from complaince, and thats it, I don't hear back from them. I don't know why they have a customer service department when they can't even escalate the call or cancel the request. I have made about 30 calls and even know 5 people with names in the customer service department, but still my transfer hasn't moved an inch.

God I wish I had read these reviews. Would have saved me a heartburn and a few tums.

I needed to send some money to India and registered with this website. Fact that it was linked to Times of India seemed to make it sound legit (live n you learn). Anyway, some calls to customer service later, my transfer order is placed. I'm asked to give specific times when I can talk to some compliance team. I gave them a 12 hour window and no call. Then someone calls me up and leaves no message. An email after a few hours confirms it's the compliance team, but no call back number. I email asking them to call me back and call their customer service as well. Three more days later, I get a call from a "compliance officer" and am asked all kinds of questions like where I work, where I worked before, how much I make and who'se the person receiving it and why they need the money. I was peeved with the questions, but thought security is security. Guy hangs up after 15 minutes and says money will be transfered by so n so date. Next day evening, I get a call saying my transfer has been cancelled.

After 6 days, they cancel my transaction. WTF. They don't take complaints and will not acknowledge any issues. Some random compliance committee had decided to cancel it and they won't talk to me or offer an explanation.

How the hell is this a valid company and are they making any money?

Save yourself the hassle. It would be easier to fly to the country and hand deliver the money than use them

I completely agree with you. Stay away from REMIT2INDIA. They offer decent exchange rates during US Day time (Indian Night time) to attract the US Customers. They lower the exchange rates during Indian Day time when actual exchange transaction takes place.

Major Disadvantages:
1) Transparency is missing.
2) Low exchange rate.
3) Major difference in exchane rate published on their website Vs actual exchange rate.
4) By default, they don't show the actual exchange rate in the transaction status. You need to either call the or email them in order to get these details. Transaction status displays Actual amount that is transferred only.
5) They dont maintain and provide you Historical exchange rate data. So, you can't validate the transacation and exchange rate applied to your transcation.
6) Poor customer support
7) Poor exchange rate especially when sending huge amounts ( more than $15, 000 and over).

Better Alternatives.
I would prefer to recommnd only ONE. Use SBI Global services. SBI is a GOVT. Enterprise, more reliable, better exchange rate, better transparency, you can view history and actual rate applied details etc.

SBI has two options.
1) Express Remit - It is good, moderately fast, reliable and more useful for regular transactions. They have limits (non SB banks - $1000, SBH- $5000, unlimited to SBI Branches). US customers can use ACH as well.
2) Rapid Remit : No limits, very fast. You need to wire transfer the money from your bank to SBI Newyork. So, little extra money for wire transfer. (usually $25-$50) depending on your bank.

Wow, this is really funny, I was in the process of creating a account with remit to india and transfer around USD 20, 000 to india but I have to say, I am totally taken back but so many complaints about remit2india.com. I know to certain extent how indian companies operates (there is an ethical issues associated with them), but considering number of people who lodged complaint against remit2india. I am for sure going to stay away.

Isnt internet great, you could always find bias and unbias opinions here.

Kudos to you guys for saving me trouble...and hell with remit to india, I would rather use western union.

Remit 2 india sucks BIG tIme. there customer service is NON EXISTANT. here is a proof:-

1) Any time you have an issue, you are asked to send a Email . You will get a reply for your email in 24 hours or more. In this day and age remit2India takes 1 day to get to your EMail - SHAME ON THEM
2) If you call customer service they ask you to send you an Email and wait for 24 Hours. If thats the case whats the point in Boasting 24 * 7 customer service ? All you hear is send email and wait 24 hours.
3) Reply to your email comes as another question to you to clarify some thing and when you send a reply - guess what - wait for another 24 hours. This is a huge bag of sum and I am fed up. Shame TOI claims it is part of their network.

I think the positive feedbacks are given by Remit2India staffs only. If you're very careful about handling your money then you would have aware about the cheating from Remit2India. Others might not have aware about it.

I've used Remit2India to transfer money many times. It was a bitter experience every time. What usually happens...

1. After we transfer our money they hold it with them, without transferring it into the specified person's account or person, for few days till the exchange rate is being lesser in market. Then they transfer it. Some times they might have already transfered it to their own Indian account when the rate was good.

2. They take the lowest rate in a day and giving that.

3. Some times they cut some money in name of processing charge, even if it is not already mentioned.

4. They offer some special offers and give offer code. But that code is very useless which makes no difference in exchange rate.

5. Some times there may be one monitoring/supporting officer. Whenever we inform him about any of our problem, nothing makes the difference but he'll get his % sales commission during our each transfer. Hence the person will tell us to inform him during our each transaction.

6. They will ask us to recommend Remit2India to others and they will give 500 rupees for each recommendation. This is to trap others also like a money chain.

I'm a fool since I had a hope during every time that next time every problem would be solved... but..end result is loss of some money during every transaction.

Hence Beware...look for other better option...

I agree that the so called 'relationship managers' (you might have more than 2 or 3) bug you by calling every now and then (from unknown nrs!). However when you really do have a query and want some answer they would simply be in mood to ignore you! They might not answer your questions but would (shamelessly) try to promote their 'offers'!

Hello,

can we complain about Remit2India to RBI or any other Bank Authoritiy.
They can't give what ever the lowest exchange rate on the funds transfer day, they should give the exchange rate at the time of the transaction triggered. They say they don't charge anything and they do
They are cheating people.

They are not even replying for Query

Please let me know how can I complain about them

when we call the Customer care, they say if we have any compaints, please send a e-mail, they don't talk over the phone for the complaints, when we send a e-mail, there won't be any response

Thanks

Remit2india sucks; two days back I referred one of my friend to use remit2india, she registered and initiated a transaction...Since it was wire, she went to bank and completed bank formalities as well..
now, remit2india started saying that your ssn couldn't be verified so account has been locked...in order to get account activated, send hard copy of the ssn card.

I am so embarrassed that I referred her for this shameless company, who is just trying to play with exchange rate and making everyone fool...

I've very good ex with Money2India even when there rates are little less than other but atleast they are very friendly...
now you also have citibank & SBI to transfer money so PLEASE USE THESE NEW SERVICES AND FORGET REMIT2INDIA...they don't desreve to be in business...

I have used transfermate.com

They offer the best exchange rates from europe, australia, uk. Their rate is their rate with no surprises and transfers take 2-3 working days.

This is what you should expect from a money transfer service not the other companies that let you down

In financial services, lack of clarity is almost fraud like. There are other better services that take you remittance amount, which is the amount you want to remit and add any applicable fees by disclosing it at the time of remittance.

Remit2India uses a fraudulent way of remitting money. They use the amount you want to remit, as the amount that they withdraw from the bank and then start subtracting from it charges they feel like. This is obviously fraudulent for at least two reasons:
The fail to disclose the fees and they don’t remit the amount you wanted to remit. By doing the transaction in such a manner that allow themselves to deduct what the like and when they like.

This company should be shut down. Complain to your local/state attorney general’s office and more the complaint, easier will it be to file a class action lawsuit to shut them down to prevent people from falling victims to their fraudulent ways.

Remit2India service and the Remit2India.com website is run by a bunch of lame people with no knowledge of how to run a business. Both the times I have used them to transfer money to India, they have delayed the payment and even then given MUCH lesser exchange rate than shown online on their and other competitor's website. On having called them about the same and pointing them to competitor's website to check their rate and try to have them match that under their "rate guarantee, " all they could come up with were some stupid excuses like "We transfer money according to Indian market, the other website might be operating based on US market, " etc.

One time they also sent the money to the wrong branch in another city and my parents had to pay money to the bank to have the money transferred to their branch!

I just closed my account with Remit2India and will NEVER USE THEM again.

PLEASE NEVER USE REMIT2INDIA SERVICE - YOU WILL LOOSE MONEY AND WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.
