RedEnvelope Rewards Rewards membership

I noticed a long standing monthly credit card charge of $14.95, which I really should have paid attention to sooner. Apparently my husband bought something on red envelope a few years ago, and inadvertently signed up for a monthly rewards program. Somehow Red envelope managed to bill monthly, even though our mailing address, email address and credit card number had changed in the interim. I called customer service. Definitely an off shore number--everyone with Indian accents and fake names "Sandy" and "Asher". I was transferred to a supervisor when I complained. He offered me $89 back. I told him I would report this to my credit card company and my state attorney general. I got the refund up to $209.30, which amounts to about 14 months of the charges.

RedEnvelope Rewards Scam, Fraud, Rip-pff, Illegal debit

8.23.10 I just caught illegal, fraudulent charges of $14.95 sometimes twice a month on my bank account from Red Env Re (Red Envelop Rewards). I brought an engraved key chain from red envelop in November 2009 for my husbands birthday. Although I never buy anything on-line except flights with our joint credit card, I used my personal debit card, so it would be a surprise for my husband. At the on-line checkout, Red Envelop said I could get free shipping if I joined there free rewards program, so I checked the box. I never received any e-mail confirmation or anything in the mail to verify this. I did not notice, but before the gift even arrived I had a charge of $1.95 from the fraud co. Red Env. Re. Then $14.95 every month on a different date since them, twice this month and I caught them. Citibank fraud dept. conference called them with me. I followed the instruction from other people on this website to get a full refund and it worked. You have to be transferred to their consumer affairs dept, all dispatchers are from India and you have to keep repeating things like your name, address and phone over and over. They try bargain you down by only giving you two months refund...don't back down, only accept the full amount and you will get it! Helped that Citibank was recording the whole conversation. Stay away from Red Envelope and pro flowers they are sister companies (front companies) of this fraud ring. God only knows what the fraudulent money is really funding!

RedEnvelope Rewards Unauthorized Charges

I made a purchase from this company (Red Envelope) and the purchase itself was satisfactory. I found they began charging me at different times during the month $14.95 for some dubious rewards program that I didn't sign up for nor use. When I called they tried to send me to someonelse and I had to be rude to get handled then and there. The rep. first told me that she was a middle person and would have to send me to "them" to get the billing stopped. When I asked who "them" were she said red envelope. At the end of the conversation I asked her the name of the company she was working for she admitted that she was Red Envelope as well. I told her that the job market is rough right now but as soon as she can she should bail out of the bait and switch ripping consumers off game and get into a business with integrity.

RedEnvelope Rewards Deceptive Rewards Program, Customer Service

1. The way my purchase was packaged seems thoughtless, and the "special message" I was prompted to choose if I wished upon ordering was nothing more than a haphazard ink-jet sticker with the lettering misaligned so that when I peeled off this sticker, part of the text was still on the backing.

2. When I purchased this, I looked up the return policy which seemed to be "no hassle". The packaging included a return sticker. When I called to ask how to package the return, the CSR stated "however [you] want because [I] was paying for it and responsible if they didn't receive it promptly." Customer service couldn't have cared less.

3. When you complete your online order, a whole bunch of different offers pop up...free shipping, which sounded great until it became evident you had to enroll in something, and the Red Envelope Rewards program. The rewards program sounded like a typical program many companies offer to help keep customers - sign up and get a chnace to receive special discounts and offers. I signed up as a customer who's gotten wonderful offers from companies I purchase from (Coach, cosmetics companies) solely for being a customer.

RED ENVELOPE VALUES ITS CUSTOMERS enough to charge a whopping $14.95 EACH MONTH for the privilege of receiving discounts. I learned about this charge today, as I went through my credit card statement to discover they'd charged me a total of $44.85 since January! I had no idea, and all those wonderful offers that went to my junk email folder are useless for anyone who doesn't purchase from this horrible company weekly. You would have to purchase a lot of merchandise to start making back your $14.95.

When I called the program today to get my refund, the CSR initially refused, saying I had access to wonderful discounts for the last 3 months. Are you kidding me?! After a very terse conversation, she agreed to reverse all charges over the course of the next 1-2 billing cycles, and after pointing out that I've paid interest on the charges and would like a quicker resolution (as in a check mailed I can put against my account immediately), she said that this is the best she could do. Thanks again, Red Envelope, for making all of this cost more of my time and money than what it was worth.

Overall, I am so furious with Red Envelope for their deception - from the purported "ease" of returns to the crappy "rewards program" to the apathetic customer service. I WILL NEVER purchase from them again, ensure that everyone I know is aware of my experience, and Red Envelope would not let me post this review because they said it included "inappropriate" language.

I ordered a necklace with 4 birthstone pendants for my mother Christmas present on November 26, 2017. I had this specially gift wrapped and paid for this service. I received a order confirmation showing the necklace with 4 pendants and was charged $26.24 total. I later received a order pickup for shipping and received her gift. I did not open the package when I received it since it was specially gift wrapped. On Christmas, my mom opened her present and there was only the necklace, no pendants. I called Red Envelope today and they stated their order did not process and charge me for the pendants and this is why I did not receive the pendants. I argued with customer service that the order confirmation clearly states the necklace with 4 pendants and quoted the price of $26.24 total. They said I would have to purchase the pendants and they would provide free shipping. I told them that if they do not ship my order complete as in the order confirmation I will be filing a complaint with BBB as well as FTC. This company can not get away with [censored] like this. If you send a order confirmation with the item and price and ship the order, then it must ship complete. Regardless of whether they have a order management system issue, the right thing to do would be to ship the remaining items on the order for the customer to save face. Instead they seemed pathetic in their sympathy and would not honor my order. Please do not do business with this online company. You can shove it up your *ss Red Envelope!

I placed an order on December 8th, 2017, and it shows my order as processed. Tracking information was provided to me, and my billing details were provided to UPS. Expected delivery date was December 20th, 2017.

I called yesterday to try to track my order and was told by a customer service rep that the item was stuck in the warehouse and that they would overnight ship it to me. I was asked to give Customer Service 24 hrs to respond to me.

I had to call back this AM, after the 24 hr window lapsed and no one had called me. i spoke with a new Red Envelope customer service rep and was told that my package definitely had not gone out, and it looked like the item was back ordered.

At that time, I requested to speak to a red envelope supervisor, and while I waited, I looked for the item I had purchased on their site - it was not anywhere to be found. My guess is that they didn't get a lot of orders for these and never actually ordered them, but also didn't have the courtesy to alert their customers to that.

I then spoke to a supervisor, who told me she could "understand how pissed" I am, but that nothing was going to happen before Christmas. It appears my item was never actually placed, despite getting an order confirmation and tracking details. She told me the customer service reps should have made assumptions - well that clearly does not help me now since it's Christmas eve and I have no present.

I asked that supervisor to send me an email telling me that my order was cancelled and I will not be billed, but that has also yet to arrive in my inbox.

Shoddy customer service all around, and apparently they do not have the proper inventory controls in place.

RedEnvelope Rewards Unauthorized bank charges

I made an online purchase from Red Envelope in August and also thought the "rewards" service was a 'free' service and then was charged, first $1.95, then $14.95 each month until I happened to notice it on my bank statement. I called them and complained and was issued an immediate cancellation and was told all the charges would be credited back to my bank account. Unbelievable what these companies will do! I've made my last purchase from Red Envelope !

Thank god for this website because I too was duped by Red Envelope! The hook was simple, either free shipping or 10% off, just for providing the same customer informtion - I didn't even realize the charge was fraudulent because it came through the first month as $1.95 in between all my christmas charges, then I thought the monthly charge was for something else and didn't think about it until recently when I'd cancelled the other monthly subscription - when I dug deeper into this and realized that this damn company has been charging my card since 12/16/08 and it's now 5/28/10 - who feels like an idiot. I called red Envelope and told them my relationship with their good products and brand was completely over and that I could never recommend them to anyone for fear they would outsource this same scam on a friend or family member. What a stupid company, now with one less customer who has a big mouth. After the long weekend, I'm going after this third party company for the $14.95 x 17 months and between red Envelope and Citiback I better get back every penny for this horrid fraud. There were no services received and when I try to log onto their website, I'm blocked out because my email doesn't work on their account - - GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE ELSE WHO FINDS THEMSELF IN THIS SAME PICKLE - - AND GOOD BYE RED ENVELOPE!

RedEnvelope Rewards can't cancel orders

Red Envlope, the popular web gift service, does not let you cancel orders after you make them around the holidays.

If you place and order and then 2 minutes later try to call them up they will refuse to cancel the order or give you your money back.

They say they can go out of their way to send a return envelope and sticker in the gift box but they won't cancel the order. So you might get your money back but still have to pay for shipping, handling and gift wrapping. Not to mention if you are sending it as a gift, inconvenincing the recepient.

We've bought a lot of stuff from them. Their refusal to do this is aggrivating. We will buy no more stuff from them and we will tell everyone we know.

RedEnvelope Rewards Fraud credit card charges

My credit card has been charged $14.95 every month from Encore Marketing for almost 6 months now, a scam that I realized from browsing the message boards. I wrote to CS at Red Envelope and they claimed I used a $15 coupon which automatically elected their Rewards program. I checked the details of my order and I DID NOT enroll or use or even see a $15 coupon!

This is not the way to do business and the scam greatly downgraded Red Envelope's corporate image. Will NEVER shop there!

I totally agree! I just got off the phone with my bank, for the same reasons. I have been charged now for three months, when I have not bought anything from Red Envelope in well over a year! I even had a different bank at the time. I will never shop through Red Envelope again, and will urge family and friends to do the same!

RedEnvelope Rewards Bait and Switch Rewards Program

My letter to Red Envelope:

To Whom it May Concern:

For many years I have been a customer of Red Envelope, enjoying the unique and high quality gifts which have brought many a family member or friend happiness upon receiving them. Your packaging is superb, your selection excellent and your Website very well organized and easy to use.

As you can tell, I have been a happy customer and most impressed with your company---that is until I started receiving $14.95 charges on my credit card statement for Red Envelope Rewards. Shame on you for promoting this "rewards" program which you know is a scam. I would not have expected a classy company like Red Envelope to lower itself to subjecting its customers to such marketing trickery. Offering a low introductory fee knowing that the fine print says your customers will be subjected to a significant automated charge---for services they are unlikely to use and do not understand---is wrong.

When I go to your Website to shop, I want fast service. Convenience and greater selection are the essence of online shopping. Your company has always delivered that, so I do not spend time analyzing whether what you say is what you mean and I didn't think I had to because I have trusted your company to have more respect for its customers than that. There are plenty of other online retailers that I already avoid precisely because I don't want to deal with their gimmicks, popups, rebates, surveys, etc.

The $29.90 that Red Envelope Rewards has debited from my account, for services I did not use, is $29.90 I won't be spending on RedEnvelope.com. Tomorrow, though, I'll be spending another $30 on lunch with my best friend---someone with whom I frequently exchange gifts purchased on Red Envelope. I'll be sure to warn her of your poor choice in promoting this scheme.

Please do not send me some form letter explaining that thousands of people are benefitting from Red Envelope Rewards because frankly, I don't care about whether they are or aren't. My point is that the way in which you have promoted the program is a bait and switch and I thought you were better than that.

I'm almost certain the rewards program is actually run by another company and you simply endorse it. Stop. You are compromising your brand and the loyalty of the customers who trust you. Do an online search for "Red Envelope Rewards" and you'll find enough complaint websites to know I am not alone.

I agree with the previous posts. A devious way to charge the customer using the "fine print." We have bought items from Red Envelope for corporate gifts on a regular basis and will not longer be doing that. Goodbye to about 600 dollars a year RE.

I also just realized that Red Evelope Rewards has been charging my credit card for the past 9 months. I purchased a less than $50 Christmas Gift from them in December and my account has been charged ever since. Shame on me for not watching my credit card statements closer, shame on Red Envelope for tricking busy consumers who rely on them for classy gifts. My account now has a total $136.50 worth of "Reward Charges" - I am not even certain as to what a "reward" gets me. They certainly haven't contact me in the past 9 months in regards to the benefits of this program. I am extremely dissapointed. I did just try to call them, but the rewards program is only available from M-F. I will definintely thing twice before I purchase from them again if they refuse to refund my money.

Good luck to everyone else who has purchased from Red Envlope.

RedEnvelope Rewards Rewards Charge

I bought several items from Redenvelope for Mother's Day. As I was checking out, it said $15.00 off next order for signing up for adding 1.95 charge to this order for rewards program. I clicked yes and then it went through to ask my information. I realized (reading the fine print) they would charge me $14.95 per month. I hit the back button and reprocessed my order and it didn't ask again. I never filled out my information but the same card I used for the order got charged the next month the 14.95. Unfortunately, I didn't call until it hit again this month and they took me off but I didn't get a refund. This was a clear greed attempt to get something for nothing from their customers. For the 29.90 of free revenue, Red Envelope lost a recurring customer

I was OUTRAGED to find out that my American Express had been charged $14.95 per month by Red Envelope for the last YEAR. I have not ordered anything from them in that time frame! I found out that because I accepted free shipping on an order I placed with them one year ago, I also agreed to the tiniest of print... to be auto enrolled in their "Red Envelope Rewards Program". If that isn't sneaky enough of them, they also NEVER ONCE emailed me, or tried to contact me, to let me know that I was enrolled in any special program. I did however, get an avalanche of paper catalogs and spam emails with sales and promotions (which I unsubscribed to 6 months ago!). I called my American Express to have them refuse any future auto charges from Red Envelope... because I will never shop from them again!

I have been charged $14.95 every month for 18 months for a Rewards program that I knew nothing about. If you purchase something online from Red Envelope...BEWARE! You may naively accept free shipping or check a box for a FREE rewards program that then starts charging after the first month. However, after reading other complaints, I got good advice to call red Envelope directly instead of the Rewards program number. Call [protected] and ask them to refund your money...and they will! If yo ucall the Rewards number [protected]) they can cancel the account but will not offer a refund. Call the company directly for results.

Like the others, I ordered merchandise from Red Envelop in December. I canceled the "free shipping" because it appeared that I would have to sign up for a rewards benefit program. Obviously, this must have been additional fine print that I missed along the way. As I reconciled my February credit card charges this month, I noticed I've been charged by Encore Mktg. The first was 1.95 and then 14.95 for the last 2 months. I see I'm not the only one who has been tripped up by deceptive practices. The phone number is only available M-F which is inconvenient for me. I will not order from Red Envelop again.

I purchase things online from time to time from a company called Red Envelope but I have not purchased anything recently. Today I noticed a charged went through my checking account that says Red Envelope Rewards. I did not purchase anything and do not know why they are charging me but this is an error or a fraudulant charge. I am not sure what to do at this point.

I could have written your post. My card was charged for 9 months before I fially noticed it. When I called, they insisted that this was somehting I had signed up for by entering my email address as my "electronic signature". I called Red Envelope Rewards, and after a few levels of customer service, they agreed to refund my 9 months of membership fees and cancel my enrollment. I just checked my statement to confirm that it was refunded and they conveniently only refunded 8 months. I'm currently on hold to get the other $14.95 refunded.
Seriously sleazy practices.

The same thing happened to me! i bought a plant as a birthday gift over 6 months ago and noticed they have been charging me $14.95 EVERY MONTH since then. I was so upset. I never noticed it before because I used a shared banking account. I called and Red Envelope had a confusing story about how this is from one of their affiliates "Red Envelope Rewards". How the heck am I supposed to know the difference? They said when I completed my order I was asked if I wanted some money off my next order and when I accepted I agreed to the charges. Then they said they sent me a confirmation email- the same email that confirmed my order had a password that was my confirmation of joining this program. How sneaky! Never again Red Envelope. I won't be spending one red dime with this company! This is shady business practice and I'll be sure to spread the word!

I had the same problem. I bought something at www.redenvelope.com and they (actually RedEnvelope Rewards) offered a $15 coupon for my next purchase. The tricky part is that RedEnvelope Rewards' URL is www.redenveloperewards.com (similar enough to make believe this is the same company) and seems to be managed by Encore Marketing. I cannot recall any notice of the monthly $1.95 fees.

My CC company sorted the $1.95. I will boycott companies - such as www.redenvelope.com - that affiliate themselves with Encore Marketing and their dubious business practice. I feel that www.redenvelope.com breached my privacy by passing my personal details – including my cc-details – to a 3rd party.
