This is an AWFUL business (if you would even call it that). The minute that I got off the phone with these people, the first thing that popped into my head was, "Wow, how the hell did they get all the information from me and how could I be so stupid as to have signed up for that!" It was already pretty obvious to me that this company is completely illegitimate.

I just received the letter confirming me of my order. It's not even written in proper english, proving that this company is a scam.

I have just written my cancellation letter to them.
The end of my letter reads, "If my card is charged even once, I will take immediate legal action. I was obviously lied to during our phone transaction which breaks multiple laws, among other things."
Hopefully they'll get the picture.
If anyone cares to find out if this works or not, email me.

I called the phone number on my 82 yr old mother's
bank statement next to the $25.00 they are charging her every month,
[protected]. They told me my mother has to get a letter from her
doctor saying she has dementia before they will cancel her subscription!
I am going to BBB online and attorney general right now!

They just called me. "are you currently recieving a package of 4 to 6 magazines". Wouldn't transfer me to the supervisor unless I answered "what is your current age" and "what is your current occupation" and "are you married or single"
This is the most time I have ever spoken to someone at this or the other nusiance caller who "helps the publishers with the subscriptions"
Do not answer them. My card that was charged for an offer my husband accepted last year has been cancelled.
Seems they are starting to ramp up again.
Caller ID reads Readers Club of [protected]

Help! I signed up as well and kept getting phone call after phone after phone call. All of them telling me the same information. I'm a very naive person unfortunatly, and when they tell me that they are trying to stop the calls I'm recieving I believed them. I tried to cancel back in June and they told e that I had to pay well over $1000 just to cancel! So I cancelled my card, because they weren't calling me backl regarding cancellation. Once they couldn't get my money then, they started calling and told me that it too late to call to cancel. It was completely their fault for not rresponding back to my original complaint and cancellation. I will be calling the better business bureau. By the way did anyone recieve more than 5 calls from so calleds the same company that you have your magazine through? I also would like to know how that other person that had the Illinios Atterney Generals office handle it! They are charging me everyother week!

We had the Illinois Attorney Generals office take care of it. We got our money back and they can't bother us again.

Just gave the BBB my experience with this company and used this site as a referal . Something has got to to be done. They tried to turn my account over into a collection agency. The collection agency didn't have their contact information! What's wrong with this picture?

Every one needs to complain to the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully we get them back for all their wrong doings and shut them down!

I have had the same problems as everyone on this site! They threatened me with collections if I didn't pay them money. It took me a while to get a phone number from these people. At first I had some guy tell me that their company only could make phone calls out and couldn't receive any phone calls. The next person who called I asked again for a phone number and she tried to chance the subject several times finally gave me a disconnected number. About the fourth time someone called got the number. I had called these people several times canceling the magazines. Of course every time I call they don't have a record of it. They are very rude people! I told them that I have cancelled this months ago and if they call me again and threaten me that I will get a lawyer and take action. The calls died down for about 2 months--now they are calling a leaving threatening messages about collections again.

What should I do----?

I had the same problem with them when I had an account at that company.I don't remember signing up for them but they somehow knew my name and phone number.Everything was okay for awhile, but when I called them about a conflict with my order, they lied to me and told me everything was okay when it wasn't.And when I called a few weeks later, they basically just ignored my complaint and hung up on me.That's not called customer service to me.I cancelled my account because of that.Good riddance.

I am in the same boat as all of you and I have told them to cancel my subscriptions and of course they basically told me that I can' t and that I should go fly a kite. They told me that I had to pay the whole amount right away and have since cancelled my CC. They continue to call me and I just ignore the calls. I never signed anything and therefore can't be held accountable especially since I have told them to cancel my subsription. Please email me if anyone knows or has more info regarding this P.O.S. company.

Now I want to cancel the subscription because I don't get the magazines i asked for, and they are telling me that it was a 5 year contract and just can't be cancelled. WTF? Any suggestions on how to get rid of these people? There has got to be a way to cancel it!

I was stupid and I signed on to the deal, however when I got the letter in the mail it said i had 7 days to contact then before my order will be sent to the subscriber. I had one day left to call in and cancel so I did, but now reading everyone's complaint I am super worried if it did get cancelled. I will call next thing tomorrow morning to yell at then and tell them what I've read, but just in case what do I do if it doesn't get cancelled? HELP

I actually had someone call me today. Dont remember his name but the manager who I spoke with to confirm my order her name was Kristy and I actually recorded part of the phone call with her saying I could cancel at anytime and not be charged any fees or whatever, or have to pay back the $1000 shopping spree gift card. Then I went online saw all of your complaints, cancelled my credit card, called back and spoke with someone name Sharon and had it cancelled and of course didn't record it, but I just spoke with a man named Stanley who I did record and he verified it was cancelled and I wouldn't be sent any bills or anything. I will update you and let you know whether or not this really happened. If I don't, you may want to say that you were on a recorded line when speaking with them and they may help you that way. I told each of them that I was recording the phone call, except for Kristy so she couldn't change any information she was giving me!

I been having problems with this company also. I did the dummy and agree to the mags back in September and only have seen one of the five mags I picked after disputing it on my credit card a week ago. I don't know what else to do besides that but any suggestions would be great. They just tried to call me from their credit card dept asking to charge it again and I told them no. These guys are so slimy and I learned my lesson. I am sticking with publishers from now on.

This company has been telephoning me to renew subscriptions. How can I contact them to cancel my existing subscription? I am sick of doing business with Readers Club of America.
