Rapid Reading Institute Unauthorized withdrawal from my banking account

DON'T BY ORDER THIS PRODUCT! It is a piece of crap, and their business practices are very shady. Hoping to recover an unauthorized charge against my checking account.

I ordered their PHOTOREADING product on a 15 day TRIAL PERIOD. It took about 5 day for the package to finally reach me. Upon revieg the included CDs Irealize that this was nothing but some old antiquated program that was transferred to DVD, yet this idiots that did the transfer neglected to remove the phase "Move on to the next TAPE IN THIS PROGRAM. "

Nevertheless, I immediately call their customer service phone number and requested to cancel my subscription, so that they would not begin the deduction of the 5 monthly charge of $69.00. I received a return authorization number, but, a day later I checked my online banking account and saw a $69.00 charge from Reading Whole Mind System.

I tried to call the phone number that was attached to the bank charge, but a message said "phone number not in service." I then went the original order confirmation email and attempted to call the numbers list, but I got that same recording that " this number is no longer in service."

I went to the Rapid Reading Institute home page, where I found the following contact number [protected]. i followed the prompts to get to customer service. a rep told me that there was no record of the product being received as a return to their warehouse, and as soon as the package is received, that the $69.00 would be reverse back into my account. I asked her why wasn't I informed of this procedure at the time of my cancellation. She had no answer. Just as a precaution, I canceled that baking card.

Rapid Reading Institute Misleading offer, won't refund

Company advertises through Trialpay as a free offer (you pay shipping only). What is not made clear is that if you don't return the item within 15 days, you will be charged 69.00! Which is what happened to me. Trialpay is alright: you can buy things and instead of paying for it (software in my case) you try one of their offers (rapidreadinginstitute in my case). But apparently Trialpay does not monitor who they do business with, because Rapid Reading Institute are dishonest. They tricked me into ordering their program, and "as much as we'd like to help, " they say they cannot accept the return.

Rapid Reading Institute sold a single product to my 90 year old Father but continues to bill him $64.00/month for virtually nothing. Forced to cancel ATM card.

I also had the same issue. I was not advised, at the time of requesting the advertised "free trial" book and CD for only $3.95 as shipping charges, that if the book and the CD were not returned in 15 days. they will charge my credit card for five monthly charge of $69 each. This isa case of misrepresentation. I am seeking the help of my credit card company to reverse the charges made to my account.

they will not deal with you at all. If you call during the trial period they
will give you an extension but then if you want to return the item they act
like they knew nothing of the time extension.
All you can do is cancel the credit card or they will take $69 a month for 5
months.

If you did not order the product at all you should call your bank and file a
fraudulent charge claim. The bank will cancel the card for you and order a
replacement. Also file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center
(IC3) http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
Your complaint should be justified since they do most of their business on
the net.

Filing the claim at IC3 will initiate an investigation by your state's
Attorney Generals Office. This will get results, guaranteed.

I had a fraudulent charge on one of my bank cards and the bank directed me
to the site to file a claim. Even though the bank refunded the charge
amount, digital river also gave me a personal phone call and refunded the
charge.

There website with return and other BS information is here:

http://www.rapidreadinginstitute.com/help.asp#Support

The address they give for returns is

Internet Order LLC
Returns Department
4412 Ludlow St.
Philadelphia, PA 19104

But it says that they won't accept returns without an RMA which can only be gotten through a telephone call to them.

It's a garbage product, but I'm not going to return it without some sort of authorization from them, which I don't think they'll be giving.

... I just got off the phone with them. Email me in a couple of weeks and I might have a promising update for you. tedable@gmail.com

I agree. They do not want to accept returns or work with you in any way concerning this product.
I canceled the credit card. I wish I had canceled it right after I ordered to make sure this didn't happen.

No information in the box except an order receipt. Does anyone have the correct address for returns. I can return to the address on the shipping label but that may not be the right one.

Rapid Reading Institute are sharks. They sign you up for trials through Trialpay or other services where you might buy one thing (software, in my case), but you can get it for free if you try another offer. I tried Rapid Reading for $3.95 shipping. Hidden was the fact that you had to return it within a certain amount of time or you would be charged $69.00. That's what happened to me. Very shifty people, and are not interested in hearing any stories that involve refunds. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

They are violating the requirements of the fair debt collection act. This act has a fee shifting rule which means you may be able to use a lawyer and have the creditor pay your lawyer.

I am currently wrestling with the same problem. PHOTO READING is the name of this so-called rapid reading program. Despite being represented as a 15-day free trial, I was charged $69 on the date they shipped. When I called to attempt to secure RMA so I could return the material, I was given a convoluted run-around. They refused to accept the return and subsequently billed another $69 on October 4th. I was unable to get any satisfaction by phone or mail, so I will try various regulatory agencies. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM! BEWARE!

I ordered the (enticing) 15 day trial online but it never mentioned the price of the kit.

So I didn't thought it was a whole package.

There was no disclosure of the price until I sent my credit card info and got back the receipt.

It took one week for the delivery to arrive.

Now 1 week had past.

I don't even want to open the package because I think it was a deceitful trick now knowing that this material cost over $200.00.

I hope I can send it back without trouble otherwise I would have to file a lengthy dispute with my bank and hope to put a stop on the first payment.

Any feedback with those who returned their kit?

Please share so that we can post this types of marketing methods online and stop them from tricking more consumers.

This is not how they should conduct their business. If a product works no tricks are necessary to make a sale.

Jesse pls. share info here or email - leojin_inno@yahoo.com

They said mine was canceled and that I shouldn't receive anymore billing. I did, called them up again, they went to get a manager to help me, but she was out. They said she'd call the next day, and of course she didn't. Called again, they said it was canceled. Thats fine, the card I used to pay for it expired and I didn't bother renewing it, apparently they've been trying to take payments from the card after it had expired. Now I'm being asked why I haven't made any payments and it racked up to over $300 on me. So much for being canceled, and so much for me actually taking a class this semester. This is ridiculous, I canceled it multiple times, I shouldn't have to pay over $300 for something I don't want!

Rapid Reading Institute Worst place on earth

I ordered a trial rapid reading cd. I was given an extended trial because by the time I received the item, the trial would have been over. I returned the item on March 3, 2009 via the USPS. I received a charge on my account on March 28, of $69.00. Tanya, an uneducated sounding sales person answered the phone. She refused to help me, and would not check with her warehouse to track the package. She then, would not let me speak with her superiors.

I have info from the Post office saying this company has received the package at least a week ago.

This company is offing a poor product. They send a free trial CD and automatically deduct $69.00 each month out of your checking account. They will not allow the product to be returned. They are modern day internet con people. I could cry.

It sounded a little expensive. I did read the terms and conditions and they plainly stated if I did not return the product in 15 days they would bill me . I was not willing to pay 350 for software I was skeptical would work for me, and I really did not care about getting the software free from the compay that referred me, whatever the software was it was only 35.00/
Terms & Conditions:

Exactly the same thing here. They are incredibly dishonest, are not the slightest bit interested in customer service, and I have lost $69.00 through their misleading and dishonest offer. I should just chalk it up to experience and forget about it, but I take this personally.

Likewise. I didn't print a hardcopy and have a lawyer read through the purchase terms. The $70 or so I'd expected to spend turned into a $350 wallet grab.
Once bitten, twice-shy.

This is one of the largest scams going. It doesn't work #1. #2, you got billed $69. You're on the hook for 5 payments. $350 later, you're finished.
