Ramada - service not received for no reason and so called deposit withheld and put in his pocket

On 10 April, 2019 My husband was at the Ramada Inn, 1659 W North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. I made reservations for a room for him. ( itinerary #[protected] for $65) The desk clerk told him to give him $100.00 deposit and it will be returned in the morning. My husband asked for a receipt. The clerk stated that he was going to give it back, via email. He said he didn't understand why we could not have a paper receipt. Not so sure, my husband asked me to talk to the clerk and get clarification, the clerk told me that I was calling him a crook. I was not doing such a thing, I just wanted him to explain to me how the process worked. Meanwhile, my husband gave him the $100. in cash. (he as tired and ready to go to his room)The clerk shouted and said that he was not going to rent the room and he had to leave. My husband asked for the money back and he took $20 and put it in his pocket and gave him $80 dollars back. We asked for our money back since he refused to give him the room and he said no. I had Expedia on the phone while this was going on and they said they could do nothing about it. In our 30 years of traveling and being in the military we have traveled we have never been treated in such a disrespectful way and have money just taken because the clerk was not honest. Talking to the Expedia representative he said it was best to just file a complaint. My husband is a CDL driver and the school sends students there on a regular basis. At the time we didn't need this added loss.

Ramada - Hotel stay; bed bugs

February 17, 2019

Complaint Division

To Whom it may Concern,

I was one of the many passengers whose flight, number 643, from Denver, was diverted to Salt Lake City due to inclimate weather at SeaTac on February 11, 2019.

When I arrived at Ramada North Temple, located : 1659 W North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84116: (801) 533-9000 I was informed that there was no food and the closest restaurant was a Denny's across the street, on the corner. I was assigned to room 162. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have called a cab and run, but it was after 10:30 and I was hungry and tired. I needed to eat and sleep. I went to my Motel (not Hotel) room and was instantly dismayed. The reception area had been shabby and unpleasant but looked good in comparison to my room. I dropped my bag on the bed and was apprehensive when I had to touch the unwashed drapes to close them.

I walked to the Denny's alone, at night. It was scary. Fortunately some of my fellow passengers arrived to eat, later and watched me as I returned to my room.

The real treat awaited me upon my return to the room. It was filthier than
I first realized, There was literally trash on the floor. I was unable to charge my phone or my computer as there were no USB ports and the only working outlet had the lamp plugged into it. The smell of bleach coming off the wrinkled sheets was a blessing. I had a hard time sleeping dreaming that bed bugs were using my legs for dinner. I ended up restlessly sleeping on top of the covers.

The next morning, I was unable to have any coffee, not just, because the pot was grimy and there was no cream or sugar, but because there was no cup.

In the morning, while changing my socks, I balanced on my shoes because I didn't want to put my foot on that disgusting carpet, I dropped my sock and it rolled under the bed. Sorry I didn't get a picture, but after seeing what was under that bed I didn't want to hang out anywhere near that floor for another second and I couldn't get out of that room fast enough. There was at least one empty can mixed in with the rest of the trash, food crumbs and fast food wrappers. At least I assume the can was empty, I didn't touch it.

I was in such a hurry to get out I didn't notice that the bedbugs were not a dream until I arrived home. (picture of my leg included).

Once again I was the lucky one, another fellow traveler had to sleep fully dressed, wrapped in a blanket because there was no heat in her room.

That motel was so bad that at 6:30 in the morning the van returning to the airport was already full with a line forming for the next one, despite the fact that our flights weren't leaving for at least 5 hours. We, passengers collectively agreed that the limited food choices at the airport had to be better than what was offered there.

This is the first time I have been to Salt Lake City and at this point it will be my last. My first impression wa not good.

I have stayed at other Ramada Inns in the past. I have found the hotels to be clean, the staff friendly and the continental breakfast edible. I would think you would like to get this place cleaned up.

I have written a letter to Alaska Airlines to inform them of the unclean conditions of that Motel.

Sincerely,

Margaret Rainard

Ramada - ramada north temple salt lake city

There is no got water! I travel a lot and I will not recommend your hotel to anyone! If this doesn't get fixed asap I will all for my money back for my 3 nights stay and go stay some where else! There isn't any got water to bathe or wash your hands. I am really not happy at all! Me and my fiance work very hard every day setting up modular homes for families and at the end of a cold winter day all we want is a hot bath and to relax.
