We bought a Ragdoll kitten in Dec. from Luke and Cheryl Bromagen. They gave him antibiotic drops on his way out the door. Kitten died less than 72 hours later-was septic from intestinal parasite. Breeder promised replacement cat- but never answered emails or apologized. Waited for new litter and was told to get lost. Further investigation revealed these cats NEVER saw a vet- they've been doing it out of their home and bullying people that complain. Hopefully more lawsuits will come forward, we were successful in showing our cat was ill well before we received him. These people are wicked and looking to make a quick buck at the expense of these animals. BEWARE!

Put a deposit down on a kitten. Cheryl was reluctant to send pictures stating, "I work and have a family, so I don't take pix everyday". She said she would send every 2 weeks. 2 weeks went by, no pictures. I tried to call her, no answer, messages full. I texted her and asked her to call. I wanted to check on my new baby and I was also purchasing another one and wanted to see if that one had been born yet. Next thing I knew, she refunded my deposit. I tried to call to see what happened--no answer. I tried to text -- no reply. I was crying pretty hard by this time. Cheryl is a horrible person and does not keep her word and makes you feel bad if you want to communicate after she's taken your money.
Be careful! Wish I knew.

Yes, please make sure the breeder shows you they’ve had the mom and dad tested for any genetic diseases. HCM, PKD, from a reputable University.

I am so glad I ran across this. I was going to get a kitten last week, but unexpected problems came up. I kept trying to message them and find out when they are breedng again, etc. Never could get a response. No I know why . So sorry for all of you that have lost a kitten, so sad. I will be looking elsewhere.

I can’t beleive they are still in business. So many complaints and people still purchase from them. It has been a couple of years since we lost our sweet boy to FIP and I still check on these evil people from time to time hoping that they got arrested for unsavory business practices. Hopefully karma catches up soon.

I’m sorry, it’s devastating. The breeder I got my lil boy from is out of business, thank God. I sent her a very nasty email the night he died, and her sight was down a month later. I still cry over him and it’s over a year. 😪

We loved our boy so much. He was very sweet and such a unique kitty. We spent allot of money on Tests while he was on IVs . They could do nothing to help him and the FIP test came back positive. They were worried that was the case but they do the test post mortum. My family was devistated. We had him cremated because the wife and kids didn’t want to just bury him. He still stays in a little box in our home. I am sorry for your loss as well. It is very sad that these people do this.

I understand, I miss my little boy so much. I have his ashes on the windowsill so he can sit with his brother. He passed June 25th 2017, and I’m still recovering financially. I don’t regret spending the money on him, as I did everything to save him. I’m so sorry you had to go through this.

Hi everyone. Really wish I saw this before already giving money for our Blue Motter mink male we had reserved from the breeders. So far she has seemed to be fairly reliable. Sometimes a few days late in replying to message. Today is our scheduled pick up day to get our little boy. Six hours ago before we went to bed we received this text message. (See below) hopefully all is well with our little boy. I’ll be keeping everyone updated...

After what I went through, i'd wait. Mine came with " a little cold" and runny eye that never went away. Save your money and heartache, you don't want to go through getting attached and going into debt. I know this post is older, but let us know how you did. Not saying they can't have a cold, I'm just terrified from my experience.

After reading several of these complaints, I am shocked ! I breed ragdolls in one of my last litters I had a boy not doing so well. I refused to sell him. He is 5 monthes now, and the vet gave him thumbs up! Thats the decent way to handle it, not to sell sick kittens!

And to whoever said coronvirus is common and almost in every kitten, yes, it's true, BUT, when you have inbreeding and unhealthy cats with low immune systems it has a very high propensity to turn into FIP. This breeder was feeding fancy feast also, that should have been a red flag right there. Ugggggg horrible lesson learned.

@ragdollmommy you were the one that said your cat was healthy and then I see you posted he died from HCM? Yes, mine was 4 1/2, his CRF was worsening despite aggressive medical intervention, but now I'm really terrified that my other has HCM.

Oh boy! She shares sires with Deanna's Ragdolls in Crystal River, Florida. One of her retired cats on her website says Deanna's cat Zeus was her grandfather, I got a baby from Deanna in January 2013, he was so sick, Came with a runny eye, took him to the vet immediately on Monday recommended when you adopt a baby. My vet shook his head and commented that he didn't win the genetic lottery, for sure. I called her weekly as he had diarrhea, then URI, eye infection never resolved. She bore it off that it was the time of year for allergies, or all kittens have diarrhea when adjusting to a new home. Yeah sure, I can't even tell you all the issues and but I'm a dedicated mommy and had him at every specialty vet and, finally after he was diagnosed with Chronic Renal failure in October 2016, took him to the University of Florida. He had HCM, he died in my arms June 25, vet said he didn't expect hi. To live to see age 2. But we were both fighters. Now I haven't had debt since I paid off my college loans, long time ago. I went into debt, pulled $$'s out of my 401k, this cat never ate hard food, and drank only bottled water. The money I spent is the least of my worries, it's the heartache, I still cry daily. She gave me a kitten in June of 2013, probably knowing the one I bought wouldn't make it. He was half the size of the first one, naturally, since he was a few months younger. Well, he did have some sneezing, but within two months he outgrew my first baby by double the size. Guess he had a better immune system, but I'm terrified to have an echo performed on him, as I see someone else here got a kitten around the same time with HCM. Clearly it's in their breeders. And she said it was from someone that "owed" her a cat. Probably because she lent her one of her males to mate. Omg, I will not be able to handle it if I find out he has HCM too. I watch him breathe and think he's breathing too fast. I'm so terrified to go through anymore heartache. It would break me for sure. He's had lower energy since his brother passed, hopefully he's just still mourning like me. but I'm terrified to find he may have the same. I'll update when I have him tested. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who've had to endure this pain. This photo was around 4 months after I got him, and one of many hospitalizations, see little bandage on his arm 😪 And his drippy eye, it never cleared his entire short life!

I guess I can consider myself lucky so far...we bought a kitten in Jan of 16. After I picked him up he developed the sniffles and was sneezing a lot. I tried to contact them but they would never get back to me. Finally the husband returned my text and was a complete [censor], saying his wife had the flu. Reading all these post, his wife sure is sickly. Said it was because of the meds they gave him right before I got him. I let it go for a few days before I took him to the vet's and he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. So far a year and a half later he has been doing great but only time will tell I guess. If I had found this board before I bought him, I never would of got a kitten from her.

I guess I should be lucky that we narrowly escape these horrible stories. Here is mine: We had a new kitty all lined up for our daughter's 4th birthday.
We put a deposit down on the kitten and have been waiting for over a month. I wrote Cheryl several times during that month with no answer so I started to get nervous. Then I looked them up on the BBB and saw complaints from others that gave deposits and never heard back so I got squirrelly. Told her I was nervous about the transaction and she finally wrote back that she was in the hospital. All was made well again so I felt better. OONE DAY before we were supposed to pick the kitten Cheryl canceled and said “NOPE, you called me a scammer. You can’t come get the cat” She gave me my money back (less $10 service fees) and now we are left empty over this. Not to mention a rearranged room with a giant cat condo in it.
These were her husbands final comments to me: “Yup but in this scam you got your money back R###”
Even though I got my money back, it is still a total scam by these people: Cheryl and Luke Bromagen. There is something else to the story that I am unaware of, either they are selling sick kittens again and again as others here have mentioned, or they oversold it to several different people. Heartless and strange, the whole thing.
DO NOT buy from these people. Share this. Get the word out and do NOT engage in business with them.

Oh My Gosh! I got on this complaint board to tell my story, and I can't believe this happened to you as well.
I contacted Cheryl about purchasing a ragdoll 2 months ago and she was great in the beginning. Answering questions and sending pictures. But after she received the deposit. I couldn't get in touch with her. She first told me that she had her wisdom teeth out and then after that she said that she was in the hospital. She then sent me 2 videos and all seemed well. I was supposed to pick up my cat this weekend and after ironing out the details she texted me and said "it's not going to work out, you called me a scammer." I really feel like I dodged bullet with this lady. Whatever her real story is, she cannot be trusted. My family and I have been looking forward to picking up a kitten for 2 months, and 4 days before she backs out. Please contact another breeder.

Not sure why my first post didn't show up. But I had the same experience this week with Cheryl. We reserved a kitten 2 months ago and after she received the deposit I couldn't get a hold of her. She first said that she had her wisdom teeth out and she would send pictures soon. Then nothing...I called, texted, and emailed her with no response. I even started the process of contacting PayPal to get my deposit back. I then received 2 videos and a response saying that she was in and out of the hospital. We set the date to pick up the cat and I thought all was well. Four days before we were going to pick up the kitten I texted her to set up a time and get her address. She seemed fine, and even said, " I can't wait for you to meet her, she has the best personality." Well, we reserved a boy, so I corrected her and she said, " oh yeah, I thought I was talking to someone else." 15 minutes later she sent me a long text telling me that it was not going to work out. She said that she didn't appreciate being called a "scammer." DO NOT reserve a kitten with this Breeder. For everyone else who has had similar experience with this woman, I am so sorry. This was very disappointing for my family.

I'm so sad to see theses posts and feel so sorry for your loss. We just lost a beautiful Ragdoll cat but it was from a terrible antibiotic called Convenia, it made him very ill and we lost him within a weeks time. Never give this to your babies without doing your research first.
I didn't buy him from Southern Ragdolls but I did buy his best friend and the love of his life, Ms. Shakira, they were always together. Shakira is very healthy and absolutely gorgeous. She is precious and has no health issues at all. I planned to purchase another kitten from them as they were so wonderful with us but now I have some reservations and I'm a little worried.
I'll see...

Hi everyone -
I just happened upon this website when going to the southern ragdoll's website from google and saw a "complaints" in the search bar and thought I would check it out. Lo and behold, I am speechless at seeing so many complaints about Cheryl Bromagen with Southern Ragdolls and selling sick kittens. Just add me to the list. But I know that if I had seen all these complaints before buying our ragdoll from her, I know I wouldn't have bought one from her and we wouldn't have this beautiful, sweet creature in our lives. We bought our Blue mitted mink ragdoll, a female from Cheryl back in the spring 2013. She was born in Feb. 2013, we paid the $350 to reserve her (in April) and we were supposed to bring her home on May 18 but had to wait another 2 weeks because she had the "sniffles" and she wanted her to be healthy when we brought her home. Cheryl said that she had to give her antibiotics and needed to finish them before she let me bring her home. We finally brought her home on June 1, 2013, a wonderful day! It was love at first sight when we finally saw and met her in person and brought her home. Our little girl is just as sweet as she is beautiful! After we got her home and got her settled, we still noticed that she was sneezing and her right eye had been runny, so we took her to our vet and found out she still had an upper respiratory infection, so he prescribed her some eye ointment and more antibiotics. She eventually cleared up and got better within a couple of weeks. My beautiful and sweet ragdoll, in which we named Sophie - her TICA registered name is Sophie Suzanne, is now 3 1/2 years old (will be 4 in Feb.-time flies), she is doing wonderful, very relaxed and a laid back kitty. We call her Princess Sophie. We have 2 other cats and 1 1/2 year old white lab that lives with us and she loves being around them and playing, and relaxing. Every now and then she will have the sniffles and her eye will run, and she has allergies, so we do keep an extra eye on her to make sure these allergies don't get any worse. The best thing when we got her was that she was litter box trained and that she wipes her paws before getting out of the litter box. I just wanted to share my story about my ragdoll Sophie and how much we love her and she has brightened out lives since we've had her. . I do have another question and find this wierd and have never heard of such, neither has our vet. Cheryl stated in our contract to never have our vet give her the Feline Leukemia vaccine, to keep her from getting the disease. I found this odd and so did our vet (had never heard of such) because my other cats have always received this vaccine. I researched this information and found out that some ragdolls could be allergic to the vaccine and it could kill them. Has anyone else heard of this?
Another thing, I wanted to keep Cheryl informed about Sophie, with pictures, emails and such of her progress as she gets older but she acted as though she didn't want to keep in touch with us. When we went and picked her up on June 1, she was very hesitant about us coming to her house to pick up our ragdoll, she wanted to meet us somewhere. But being the cat lover that I am, I wanted to pick up my ragdoll from their house and see and meet the mother and daddy of my kitten and see its surroundings. It worked out to where we did go to their house in Grovetown. Sophie's mother is Keely and father is Hayden. She has many traits of both of her parents.
Like I said before, I wanted to just share my experience with Cheryl Bromagen from Southern Ragdolls. I am also so terribly sorry for everyone's losses of their beloved ragdolls that they received from this breeder and place. I would love to get another ragdoll now, and our family is ready for another one. I even contacted Cheryl about getting another one after seeing some of her kittens that she was selling on her facebook page. Her Southern Ragdolls website has not been updated since February 2016 and I'm sure this is the reason why. I contacted her by email, private facebook message and by text and it's been a week already and have gotten no response so far. I have been looking at Pinkerton's Ragdolls in Monroe GA and getting another ragdoll from there.

I'm a lucky one too where my ragdoll from her is alive and healthy. She'll be four years old in February and is the light of my life.
I just checked their website and apparently she has a license again because she is posting about new kittens... I hope people find these complaints before they buy from her.

Oh and to answer your question we went to the vet numerous times for an upper respiratory infection that kept coming back and gizmo spent the last weeks of his life at argo animal clinic where he got too notch treatment. An autopsy was done and it came back positive for FIP and he was never around another cat from the day we got him.

Our gizmo was the sweetest cat we ever had. I wish we hadn't went through the trauma it caused our family. I wish we were lying. I wish she didn't sell sick kittens but she did and my family cried night after night because she did. She should be shut down. I wish they could bring up criminal charges. I reported her to the bbb and the department of agriculture. Why would I do all that if if weren't true? Just because some kittens live it doesn't mean that she isn't dishonest. She wouldn't answer emails and she wouldn't respond to the bbb. My complaint is the reason she now has an F rating. Check it out if you don't believe me. I pray you never go through what we did.

Whoa, look I'm sorry your cats died, I'm sorry about whatever you've been in, but this is not my fault, I am on here for a reader (I own a website) and they were asking about my cats's breeder and if she was good or not; they wanted some form of "proof" for themselves so I showed them this. Don't get all ### with me. Geez, and FYI my cats actually are healthy; they are almost 6 years old and without any health problems. If you dislike her and still think its her fault for killing your cats (which may or may not be true) then sue her, or something, I don't care. My beautiful and HEALTHY babies are pictured below.

Firstly, "Ragdoll Mommy" why are you searching for complaints here if you have none? I never had reason to UNTIL my 2 precious kittens died. Had I actually searched beforehand & saw the comments I would never have purchased from the Bromagen's in the first place.
Second, your comment about "if you don't like her, don't buy from her" makes no sense. If I didn't like her in the first place obviously I wouldn't have purchased cats from her. Cheryl wants to sell her cats so she's wonderful in the beginning until your cats start dying & then she hands you over to be dealt with by her husband because she knows she's been figured out & can't handle it herself. That's when you stop "liking" her. What would I & the rest of the people have to gain by lying? I'd love to still have my cats here alive & well. All of our cats died from the same thing & I have spoken with families that have contacted me outside of Complaints Board that have sued the Bromagen's & won. If I were in it for the $ I would have sued them too but I'm more interested in getting word out so that families purchase elsewhere & don't receive sick cats.
Might do you some good to think about your comment before you actually comment.
Good luck with your supposedly healthy cats.

We bought a beautiful bicolor from them in June of 2013. We named him Gizmo and he was a very special member of our family. Our 4 year old called him his best friend cat. He seemed fat and very healthy other than an upper respiratory infection that we repeatedly had to treat with antibiotics. He had this on his very first vet visit two days after we got him. In early January he developed a fever and the vet tried to treat it with antibiotics which had no effect. Treatment escalated to steroids and eventually an IV after Gizmo started having trouble walking. He stayed at our vets office for two weeks on an IV before his slow downward slide ended. We watched our beloved family member die slowly while the veterinarian tried everything to save his life. The autopsy confirmed that he died of FIP.. Our Gizmo had never been around another cat since the day we got him and there is no way he contracted it at our house.. After much research we have learned that some bloodlines are more susceptible to developing FIP than others and at least 50 percent is genetic. We also learned that breeders and kennels that have issues with upper respiratory infections also have issues with FIP. We loved our Gizmo very much and we so wish we could have saved him. We have emailed the breeder with this information but she has not responded.

Until you have had a kitten (or 2 like I did, wet & dry form) that needed to be put down due to FIP before the age of 11 months don't scold those of us that have complained here on Complaintsboard.
Of course we would like to deter people from their cattery so that other people don't have to go through the pain that we did.
And yes, they are selling non-registered Ragdolls!

"Yet I have his pedigree. Just stop trying to bash her. You're probably another breeder trying to deter people away from her."

You have a TICA pedigree & registration slip issued for a Ragdoll Variant. TICA is a genetic registry that can & does register "Mixed Breed" litters. "Variant Ragdolls" are registered with Ragdolls NOT as Ragdolls.

If something is not covered in her contract, there's not much anyone could have done. You choose the kitten and have a chance to see it before hand. If you neglect to see it before you purchase, that's not her fault. My kitten is a beautiful sepia ragdoll. And I've never had a better cat before.

"I bought a beautiful kitten from this breeder three months ago."

This doesn't change the fact that she misleads people into believing Sepia & Mink colors have always been a part of the Breed. They ARE NOT and are Variants of the Ragdoll Breed. They were derived from Outcrosses which are not allowed.

I bought a beautiful kitten from this breeder three months ago. He's very healthy, and was healthy from the beginning. When I picked him up, he was 3 months old and 3.5 pounds. She is willing to let you go to her home to see the kittens before purchasing. People choose not to. And while she does have a contract, some things are not included, certain illnesses. I would recommend her to anyone!

Breeds, Sells and Promotes Mink & Sepia Ragdolls as being traceable to the Foundation Cats of the Ragdoll Breed. This is a FALSE & MISLEADING statement since her cats trace back to cats that I Owned and Bred that are registered RagaMuffins and are a completely different Breed. Her cats are unrecogised Variants of the Ragdoll Breed.

Hello! Wow am I glad I saw these posts! Southern Ragdolls has a beautiful website, with gorgeous kittens and full grown cats all over it. I was planning to purchase one from them in the future, but now I know not to do so! How horrible!

I have purchased ragdolls before, one female mink from "RitznRagdolls" and one traditional male for my aunt from "Seth's Rags". They are both stunning cats, perfect health, soft coats, they both kind of chirp/ meow and both have the perfect rag temperament. Very loving, although, I would say the male is more clingy, lazy, and less "talkative" then the female LOL. I am attaching pics so you can see there cuteness!

For those with a legitimate complaint regarding a breeder of pedigreed cats, contact the Department of Agriculture in the breeder's state and your home state. In addition, you should contact the registries (The Cat Fanciers' Association, The International Cat Association, American Cat Fanciers Association), the breeder's cattery name is registered with.
Whatever you do, DO NOT file a complaint with anyone who actively solicits complaints for their own sites, such as sicb.info, and ca-catbreeders.info. These sites can do nothing to help you. They are operated by a woman named RoseMarie Zizzo. Ms. Zizzo is herself suspended for life from The Cat Fanciers' Association, for harassment of breeders. She has lost at least one harassment suit. Many others are pending.

This makes me number 6. I bought a beautiful mink ragdoll boy from Cheryl. I flew to Georgia to pick it up. She handed him to me in between flights and he was beautiful. I noticed right away that he barely fit into the palm of my hands and was exceptionally small and seemed to be hungry. Luckily I brought him food for the airplane ride back to Phoenix. I took him right away to the vet and he only weighed 14 ounces which is less than 1 pound. I couldn't believe it. I had him tested for everything and the corona virus came back positive with a very high level. I was devastated. I immediately took him to an animal specialist here in Scottsdale that only specializes in sick animals. They immediately put him on antibiotics and a prescription food to put some weight on him. He was closely monitored for a couple months by the doctors. I decided to call Cheryl and let her know her cats were full of the corona virus and after the 5th phone call I realized this classless woman was not going to return any phone calls. I called the doctor she took him to in order to get the release papers for the airplane and he told me that Louie was the smallest in the litter and that Cheryl was aware of FIP in her cattery. My ragdoll (Louie) is a year old now and is very healthy and happy. If you are interested in buying a ragdoll kitten I would not recommend buying one from Southern ragdolls. She does not pay attention to their health and will never return your phone call. Here is a picture of Louie when I got him. I am very saddened for all of you that lost your kitten. I can't imagine losing mine as I would be extremely heart broken.

I am sorry to hear that you put your kitten down to sleep. Coronavirus is a benign virus which causes colds in humans ( human specific) bovine, dogs the list goes on. Coronavirus itself is not deadly, BUT if a kitten has a compromised immune system it can turn to FIP, which can NOT be confirmed on a living animal. The only test to confirm a kitten has Coronavirus is a fecal or one derived directly from body cavitie fluids confirmed via PCR DNA/RNA test, that test alone does NOT confirm FIP, simply that the cat has been in contact with the Coronavirus and is shedding it, please note the coronavirus is not one single virus it is several different strains of a cold: type of virus umbrellaed under the name Caronavirus, which is why any antigen or DNA/RNA test can not quantify a predisposition to FIP or confirm FIP, as only 1 strain can turn into FIP, unless the aforementioned mutate to FIP. It is estimated nearly half of all domestic felines will have some sort of positive result if tested for Corona Virus, with varying numbers greater than that in catteries or high number households and rescues. The FIP itself is not what kills a cat or kitten it is the kitten or cats bodies immune systems overreaction which causes death, which cannot be predicted.

While you should of received a healthy kitten from the start, it is more than probable that this kitten was positive for Coronavirus, and it mutated while in your care, and highly unlikely that it had mutated prior as it is not a spontaneous event. Unless you had your vet do a thorough exam and testing within the first few days in which you had the kitten for DNA/RNA status of Coronavirus.

I personally do not know this breeder, nor can I compliment nor condone her breeding practices,

Ideally one would hope that every precautionary test has been run on her cats, and her kittens, but because of the elusive and unpinpointed nature of the Coronavirus(s) there is little protocol besides hygiene that can eradicate it in the breeding environment. It is imperative of any kitten buyer to do their due diligence when they buy a kitten, both before and after acquiring their kitten, responsibility alone does not soley fall on the breeder as once the kitten leaves they cannot control a mutation or a particular strain of virus from changing, as they themselves are not god. In turn if they have had a kitten who had any form of URI prior to placement, I believe it should be disclosed to the buyer, so they may make an informed decision. FIP is a response to a virus, it in itself is not a virus.

Now that makes 5 of us, and probably more with the same experience. Buyer beware of this con artist! I am in the process of doing everything in my power to have Cheryl Bromagen's cattery shut down. She is a shrewd business women and a LIAR! I agree with all of these comments, as they only validated what I already expected and experienced. I spent close to $1, 000 on 2 kittens from Southern Ragdolls, and last month had to have one euthanized at only 9 months old. This was a very stressful and tragic thing to go through. My vet confirmed my kitten had a congenital illness. I made Cheryl aware of this and sent her all the vet records. At first she acted concerned, then took forever to get back to me, and in the mean time I was waiting for her to offer some sort of compensation. After getting fed up and tired of waiting for her to offer compensation, I sent her an e-mail demanding she compensate me for my cat and give me my money back. It was then that Cheryl fired back a few nasty, cruel e-mails basically blaming me of causing my kittens illness, and saying I didn't do enough to try and save him. She also refused to offer any form of compensation, which is totally against what her contract states. Her kittens are supposed to be 100% guaranteed against genetic defects, and I was the lucky one to end of with a sickly kitten from her. Beware of this women! She is going down. I will do everything in my power to make her pay for this and get her cattery shut down! I plan on taking her to court. If anyone else has taken her to court and been successful, please let me know.
