Publix Super Markets working for publix

The first time I had worked for Publix Supermarkets was back in 1997, and during this time things were a lot better than there are today. For example, when I worked as a part time bagger I was able to move my way up to being a full-time morning stock clerk, working from 4am to 4pm with 6 other full-time stock clerks. We were all responsible for stocking our own assigned alises as well as also ordering product for them. We all came to work on the same days and had the same days off, which lead to a strong g sense of team work among all of us and we always got the truck done before we would go home each day. During this time we all received received a inventory bonus, and store inventory was done every 6 months, and the part-timers also received this bonus as well. And if you got tired of working as a full-time or even part time stock clerk, it was very easy to transfer to a different department within your store or you could even transfer to another Publix if your store didn't have the position that you wanted to work in. After 5 years of working for Publix I had submitted my 2 weeks notice to go on and try something else. Then I decided to come back to Publix this year(2019), and boy things have changed for the worse! So, I guess it was after the old man, Mr George Jenkins had passed away, that the company and the new CEO decided to make a lot of new changes to how the company does things now. The first change that I noticed is that Publix is now on a "point system" for employee attendence, meaning that you can have a doctor's note for actually being sick and for calling out of work for being sick, but management doesn't care, they just [censored] you a point for calling out! And if you call out twice in a row they will just count that as 1 whole point instead of 2 points, and this is a bad policy because if a employee is only sick that one day and is feeling better by the second day they might just decide to be dishonest and call out the second day instead of coming into work! Secondly, Publix no longer gives an inventory bonus to it's part-time employees, you now have to be a full-time employee in order to qualify for this! Also, Publix no longer pays it's part-time employees holiday pay on holidays like it did back in the 1990's, you have to be a fulltimer in order to qualify for this as well too! Now, here comes the really bad news for anyone who wants to become a full-time employee at Publix, it used to take 6 months to a year back in the day to become a full-time employee, your manager would make you earn it, now from what I have seen so far it is nearly impossible to get full-time status at Publix unless you are on your knees and kissing some major management booty! Plus, from what I have seen and heard on the store level, each Publix store is only allowed a certain percentage of full-time employees verses part time employees, so if your store has already met this ratio, forget about ever becoming a full-time associate at your store! Also, back in the day when this would happen, you could always transfer to another to get a full-time position, now, they have made that hard to do as well! So, now I come to the subject of store management, it seems that Publix is only interested in promoting young and very immature people to management positions in the store, and they really don't know how to lead their people or even run the store, and if so much as challenge their authority in the littlest way it will put a huge target on your back! Yep, it was better back in day for the Publix store employee, now, I don't have much faith in this company!

Publix Super Markets deli

I went to Publix deli at 1030 Old Peachtree Rd Lawrenceville only to find out there was a huge fly landing on all the subs bread. The deli worker just kept fixing the subs and
just ignored the fact that a fly was feasting on the bread. I left and went to another establishment which was inconvenient and a waste of my time. Please keep insects off the food by covering the food.

Publix Super Markets deli

Waited over 25 minutes at the deli for a sub sandwich while the woman helping was completing online sub orders! there were several available employees to help me with my order! Will never be doing business there again! All while my baby was waiting asleep in the car with my wife! Not even subway would allow such an atrocity! This was the Publix in Miami on SW 37avenue and the corner of 16th Street in Coral Gables! Management was not very helpful!

Publix Super Markets hour cuts

I work in the deli in Duluth GA. Worked for Publix for years and always told how great working for Publix is. Always talked well of all im receiving. I agree that Publix managers can be racist and the very devil. Once i asked for full-time and to be a assistant manager. I was told only if i can get the others out on time and the store manager laughed at me like a witch from a movie no lie. Ti make matters worse the department manager gave me a bad evolution, has me training new employees, tells my parents im a outstanding employee, and cuts my hours. In the beginning i was stressed cause the department manager yelled at me allot. I was always honest with her. I told the store manager my concern too. Im epileptic and was out for 5 days and they wrote me up for not showing up. I was in the hospital and remember very little other then waking up in and out. I had to go back to work on the 2 day right after out of the hospital. Department manager and store manager threatened to let me go because of 5 absences. Unless i can get a doctor's approval and note. I have 3 doctors and 3 forms. Here's to kicker, i was told to send it to Lakeland. I turned it into costumer service. Next i found it in the store manager trash can when getting a scan gun. Do you realize how bad that is? Does anyone realize a person's health should never give someone a reason to abuse a employee? My department manager cut my hours and gave it to a 20 year out. The new employee got full-time after 3 weeks when others have applied by computer and talked to regional manager who was very nice but no one considered i went threw all the proper steps to get promoted. I follow to safety regulations PPE, and know my equipment and procedures guide cause i read the damn thing. I know how to do almost everything thing in the department. They will not let me transfer to another department. They will not let me get promoted. They will not let me have full time, and they will not let me transfer to another store. And they are cutting my hours. Im patient and i will wait until the right manager comes along. I try my hardest to keep working. Im using my days off to study and look for opportunities. I heard the ups boycott Publix. I heard my store manager is racist. I really liked my assistant department manager. She transferred and it made me very sad. She stuck up for me. I felt like i was screwed if she left. Sure enough i am. God knows i need this job. My parents are both very sick and dad has cancer. No one cares that i look after my family or that i go out of my way. If you ask about me to co workers that have been there for a long time they will tell you how hard i work and fast. They will tell you how i remember my costumers orders before they make it to my counter in traditional. The meat and cheese is ready for that man who gets smoke gouda for his kids. That prosciutto and hard salami sandwich with mozzarella toasted. This week i work 20 hours while the new person get 38. I also got a double shift on the 4 day that my manager failed to tell me. I used passport to look it up. My possession for the AVS meeting was given to the new guy without telling me when i just received it a few months ago. They want me to quit cause they can't fire me unless i steal or do sexual harassment. Only other way to get fire is to many call outs or "absences" . Oh yeah they must have wanted to fire me when i was in the hospital when my blood pressure was at 200 and close to cardiac arrest...nice. And people wonder why im unhappy? Im going to stop encouraging and talking about how great Publix is. I'll work here patiently until i get something better. Im hurting and feel broken. Thank to Publix management for giving seniority and equal opportunities with a open door policy. I will be calling HR.

Publix Super Markets food poisoning

My family And I have been buying rotisserie chickens for a few years now, but NO MORE !

Yesterday, July 20th, 2019 We all got very sick after eating the whole chicken from Publix. It tasted funny a little, but the seasoning was very heavy so we couldn't really tell it was bad or not.

My child, my husband and myself all had severe stomach cramps, Diarrhea And vomiting all night! My son is still in really bad shape.

We have been shopping at Publix for over six years now, but lately experiencing very "sloppy" work from the bakery and the deli part of this store. They are always out of stuff, the wait is super long or the bakery products are old!

We've been very loyal to this store for a very long time and it's sad to see the changes for the worse.

I hope this feedback helps the management to look into things and try to make changes before more people gets sick.

Thank you!

Publix Super Markets water

Maybe I'm a complaining New Englander but your water tastes like it's mixed with milk. I know FL water is very bad and maybe it's something I just have to put up with. We bought these bottled jugs at Publix last Wednesday I think (3 of them) and I remember spitting out the first glass I had as I thought it mixed with a smoothie. I only continued drinking the item because A) FL's water is known to be bad B) I thought my glasses were dirty C) I've been extremely dehydrated since moving here. I'm halfway through my second and I can't drink it anymore. I don't think water should taste like milk… it doesn't have a bad smell but why?

Publix Super Markets kings hawaiian sandwich buns disappear

I have shopped Publix Boca stores at 5th ave shops and Palmetto Park and get these large buns ( not little hamburger or subs). I know the shelf I find them on in each store. I had two employees tell me they never have them or had them in the last two days. I may be 80 but my mind is perfectly fine. By the way the check out clerk knew exactly which ones I had come in to buy. When you get them in, give me a call and I'll try your store again [protected]. Charlotte Beachum Boca Raton florida

Publix Super Markets product not ready/rube service

I went to publix during my lunch break at work hoping to get your best chicken tender sub. Once I got there, they told me that they were out of white, wheat and all kinds of bread at the moment and that they don't know when they'll be ready, but they are working on it. They told me they had flat and slice bread if I wanted and I asked if there was anything else. One of the ladies just looked at me with a blank face and repeated what they had again and then rolled her eyes. I said thank you, even though I don't think it was necessary to look at me stupid.. I also don't understand how someone is not prepared for the day. They didn't have any kind of bread but a flat tortilla and slice bread from what they told me. Now they may have been a situation that didn't allow them to be stocked up with what they needed, but its impossible. So instead of getting a sub, I went and got one of those pre made sandwiches they had. I got a ham sandwich instead. Not only did they not have bread ready to make a sub, but the lettuce in the pre made sandwich has gone bad and it was just another disappointment. Honestly, never had an issue with publix or the Deli... but this is a first and I did not appreciate the service i received or the product I bought after. Please keep a better eye on things like this.

Publix Super Markets refuse to refund salad. two girls at customer service counter

I bought a salad from a Publix in Miami. I was at 1940 Cordova Rd in Ft. Lauderdale and tried to exchange for another product. Y was told the that store doesn't carry that product they could not except return. It happened at about 3pm May 25 2019. I should have checked in produce while I was there. That Publix is a larger store and I think they didn't check system to see if it was and inventory item. I left without purchasing anything

Publix Super Markets market ground beef

On 4-21-2019 incident report was finally reported after several attempts asking the meat manager to escalate my injury from bones being grinded into the market meat. Apparently the meat manager had other obligations and decided to get married and not feel the need to address the injury I endured from biting into chopmeat that had chunks of bone causing my tooth to crack off. I was given an apology from the assistant manager explaining how such an accident can occur on occasion since all the leftover meat scraps are what Publix uses to make market meat in-house and if a chop or cut of meat's bone makes it through the grinder by mistake then you get a mouth full of bone and let me be percise bone has a lot different texture and density than grizzle. This is clearly gross negligence on Publix and told by Ana Kinner supervisor Risk Management Publix is not accountable and refused to pay for my tooth being broken off. I was also told the bone segments I brought and left with the manager would not be given back to me which is unethical and goes against every value Publix advocates on integrity and customer satisfaction. It seems like big corporation just wants to squash the consumer and the word is called bullying. The public has the right to know the risks of purchasing meat and the truth about the fundamental core values of Publix and their hypocrisy.

Caution Market ground beef risks of bones grinded into meat. Be aware and cautious Publix grinds the market meat in-house and uses leftover select cuts of meat and potential risk of bone being left on the meat and put through the grinder. Besides a risk of someone choking on the grizzle of bones inside the meat there's also a risk of losing a tooth or two like I did. Don't expect Publix to take accountability.

Publix Super Markets service

I walked to Publix this morning 5/6/19 in the morning.
I picked up what I needed and approached the supposedly express checkout.
I do not have a problem with the cashier speaking to customers and being all friendly, but I do have a problem when the cashier is taking her sweet time scanning items while she has a personal conversation with the customer.
Then to top it off, the cashier does not even acknowledge me with a hello, good morning anything, I actually tried saying good morning and she for some reason was not friendly. When I paid and picked up my stuff, she then acknowledged the customer behind me that happen to be dressed up while I didn't seem to look that way to her.

I will not go through her line ever again. May day that started out as a happy day turned upsetting.
This has not been the first time with this cashier. Thought before she was having bad day, but not bad enough to acknowledge other customers.

The cashier's name is Bertha R.
Receipt information: 05/06/2019 9:47 S1140 R107 3247 C0219

Cashiers should acknowledge all customers, does not matter color, the way they are dressed or nationality.

Thank you for your help with this situation.

Publix Super Markets failure to offer kosher for passover coca cola

I am writing after a visit to the Publix on Overton Road in Cahaba Heights, AL and speaking with the General Manager of the Store, Vincent.

It is an outrage, and a throwback to 1992 when I first moved here, that the stores in Birmingham and its suburbs are not carrying Kosher for Passove Coca Cola.

Granted, the local bottler has always refused to convert to sugar cane syrup to meet the holiday's restrictions; however, for more than 20 years, we've been getting Kosher for Passover Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite and Diet Sprite here.

Now, all of a sudden, the GM at the local Publix says "It is not available." He says he spoke with his local sales rep and his district sales rep, and both said they can't get it into the Birmingham market. They further claim that there is no Kosher for Passover Coca Cola in Atlanta, which I know is not true.

The GM, Vincent, said if he could get it, he would order two pallets immediately.

So why can't we get it here in Birmingham?

Publix Super Markets almond tarragon chicken salad

The almond tarragon chicken salad is extremely salty. I used to get this chicken salad several years ago when I lived in Charleston sc and it was great! Now there is so much salt I can hardly eat it. Please take some of the salt out of the almond tarragon chicken salad. The recipe can be adjusted and there would still be enough salt to taste great.

Publix Super Markets hours/managers

I've only worked at publix for a year and I already hate it to the core. The managers expects you to kiss so much [censored] even when a customer is being extremely rude. They say you can "move up" in the job but that rarely ever happens. A new girl only worked for a month and did everything everyone else was doing and was randomly promoted. It makes no sense. Their hours are ridiculous too. They'll have you work from 2pm to 11:30pm. It's insane how long they work us. My schedule's availability isn't even past closing but that doesn't stop them. I highly DO NOT recommend anyone working there EVER. It's a [censored] show there. I will be quitting soon.

Publix Super Markets publix brand water

Second time I've had an issue with Publix water. Poured some into a mug and it had thick white things floating in it! First time I had an issue with the water it smelled like urine. This was the final straw. I'm never buying Publix bottled water again. Publix quality has really dipped all around ever since Winn Dixie went into decline. Do yourself and family a favor, don't buy Publix brand water.

Publix Super Markets horrendous employee relations (you will have to read this to believe it)

I have worked at the publix greenwise (store 1157) for 11 years, virtually since the store opened (and which closed down dec. 29). I can tell you, that, while I have worked for some pretty nasty employers over 37 years, none have been anywhere near as bad as publix. For the first few years, I generally got along well with everybody (though there were a few lazy @sses, I just grinned and beared with them). About 4 or so years ago, that all changed: we were given a new department manager (sherry) whom we were told had had her 3 previous publix crews all walk out on her. Not a good sign. Well, she proved every bit as bad as that and more; I won't go into all the horrors she perpetrated on the department, but atone point I wrote up a complaint list - and I estimate it ran at least 10 pages long. I have numerous disbility (one of which is diabetes, which I didn't find out about at that time), and "sherry" put me on dishes 5 nights a week - and when I requested training in other areas, she told me in a cold, nasty tone, "i'm not going to train you. You're untrainable". (despite the fact that she had come into the store demanding everybody be cross-trained in everything. Guess I was the exception). My other diagnosed diabilities were ptsd, ocd, and severe anxiety disorder, and she was well aware of those conditions when she said it, so I considered that a "mocking" of my disability. Iwould have filed a discrimination complaint, but I figured in a battle between a manager and a dishwasher, the dishwasher ain't going to win. So I was forced to endure this woman for 2 1/2 years. I started to refer to her later as "lady voldemort". The only difference between her and hitler, is that hitler was more kindly and compassionate (and this is coming from a jew). She caused me to lose my medical coverage by cutting my hours to nothing, meaning that for a year I lost all access to medical treatment. Her reign of terror was so complete, that my anxiety attacks became unbearably acute, and I called in sick about half my nights, because when I would get ready to leave, I would go into shaking convulsions of panic attacks and run back and cower in my bed (after calling in "sick"). She made a particular point of destroying my reputation with the store manager; I had gotten along with him just fine before she arrived, and after her constant write-ups and calling me into his office, I became his public enemy no. 1 and he was on me constantly. When she finally did get transferred (I am told that half the staff in her new store immediately quit). As you can probably forsee, this was unimaginably traumatic for me, especially with my 'conditions', and it took about a year after her departure before I started to 'come out' of the horror of it all. But by then it was too late: I was a "unperson" in the store and a pariah. Things got so bad, that I collapsed on the job twice, once in february 2018, then again 3 1/2 weeks later, in early march, 2018 (the first witnessed by the assistant department manager, and the second by the store manager). Both times, I had to be ambulanced out due to my severe condition. The first, I was released from er later that day. The second, I was told I immediately had to go into the hospital. When I balked, the doctor told me that my blood sugar was 500, that I was going into cardiac arrest, and that if I refused to go into the hospital, "you'll be back here in 48 hours as a dead man". The diagnosis was that part of both collapses were brought on by extreme stress (and "sherry" was long gone by then). Naturally, as a result of all of this, I began becoming far more hostile, especially to fellow employees who had "wronged" me (and many in fact had), and I started making complaints and 'charges' left and right, all of which management completely either ignored, or the accuser was defended and *i* became the "bad guy". It got to the point where I e-mailed the company ceo with grievances and specified the extreme hostile work environment, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and horrendous working conditions in my store. Fortunately, in the end, we got a good department manager, and things improved; I was getting 30-35 hours a week, and for the first time in years, I was having little problems with the rest of the crew.
Then we were told publix was closing the store down on december 29th. To be honest, that was my happiest moment in 11 years, just knowing that hellhole was going bye-bye. But I was concerned about one thing: due to my destroyed reputation, could I hape to get any hours in my 'new' store? Well, after december 29th, my question was answered. And it was just what I thought. Recall I said I was doing 30-35 hours a week.
My first week in my new store?
5 1/2 hours.

My second week?
8 hours.

My third (last) week?

Zero hours.

That's right.

Zero.

I spoke to the managers, who told me, sorry, that's all the hours we have available. So I started looking at transferring to another store.
The first turned me down.

The second turned me down.

The third would take me, but it's way far away.

The fourth was where my old department manager was working as a temporary relief. She told me she was going permanently to a nearby store, and she would see about fitting me into the schedule.

So I visited her new store on saturday, the day she took over: "I can't get access to the schedule. Speak to me again on monday after 3 p.M."

I couldn't make it on monday,, so I tried on tuesday. Unfortunately, she was off, so I called her wednesday.

"I still don't have access to the schedule. Try me back at the end of the week".

So I called this afternoon:

I have access to the schedule now. Unfortunately, I have too many people scheduled. But maybe i'll be able to fit you in in 3 weeks".

Now, I got along very well with this manager, so I don't understand what seems to be an effort to keep putting me off. Now, maybe it isn't that andsshe's being straight with me, but then, why didn't she tell me was 'filled up' with employees when I first asked? I think she was instructed by corporate to put the screws to me and not take me on.

I am about to lose my apartment because I can't pay the rent. And now I will not have sufficient time in for my medical insurance. Meaning I will lose both my medical treatment and my medication.in addition, my debt right now is so staggering, I have no hope of paying it. I couldn't pay it on 35 hours. I'm somehow going to pay it on zero? So, in essence, publix has 'condemned me to death'. I don't know what other alternatives I have other then calling the government down on them. I'm sure they'll be very interested on how this company is treating an employee with multiple disabilities.

This is the company that is"a great place to work".

Publix Super Markets harassment, suspension hours cut

I have worked at Publix in Decatur Al for almost a year. I have been written up 14 times and suspended twice for a week with no pay. I went from part time to full time to part time and I now get 10 hours a week until the store manager says I have improved. When I was hired I informed them of my disability... major depression and anxiety. I am a 55 year old widow who lost a daughter to sucide. I have been under a doctor's care for decades for depression and anxiety. It is Christmas and the store manager has made sure I have practically no income. Anybody's welcome to read these write-ups and reasons for suspension. I work at store 1609 in Decatur, Al. On Point Mallard Parkway. I do not know what to do... I hope the manager taped the times he has called me into his office for write-ups etc. Because he has said some pretty horrible, embarrassing, mean things to me. I know I have anxiety and get jumpy, exhausted... mentally and physically and emotionally. I have no other means of support and my store manager just took that away... not for any customer complaint.. not for any safety issue. For what appears to be second hand gossip.. accidentally bumping the dept. Manager with a cart.. complaining because we weren't allowed to use the dishwasher. Everybody has done these things and alot more than me. Please help me. Mindy Birdwell
