Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] overcharge

My property was in disuse and boarded since last june. Pseg sent estimated bills overcharging me by several hundred dollars. After performing an actual check. They claimed to be rectifying the matter by deducting the oveerage from my subsequent bills. I had been charged for a 3700kw meter reading on the estimated bills and while the accummulation of actual use according to the readings did not reach that level until april of this year they are claiming charges associated with this use. (Charging twice for the same electricity) to add to the questionability of the matter, my usage according to the smart meter which was installed, without informing me, in january was over 500 kw through april when the only electric usage was two light bulbs on a timer. This sounds rather excessive. I paid the bill on threat of termination of my service.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] payment assistance

Hello,

I am writing yet again for assistance with my electric/ gas bill. I have explained several times in the past that my husband is now disable. He no longer works therefore he had to income for about 8 months. He was just approved for disability payments and we are trying our best to get back on our feet. We are still waiting approval on assistance through the pack agency. So can someone please explain why a peg representative keeps showing up at my door telling me my bill is past due and asking for outrageous amount to keep the services on? I have explained that my husband uses a machine for his sleep apnea throughout the day and night. This is going to be my last correspondence. I have reached out to pseg customer service line. The woman though nice explained that I would have to pay 1200.00 of a 1600.00 bill. Are you kidding.? If I had that kind of money the services would not be past due. I'm not going to waste my time any more writing letters and sending emails. I'm getting an attorney involved. You cannot tell me that with all the payment assistance services I see on pseg website. I can't qualify for anything? And the best they can tell me is pay 1200.00. No way am I going to sit back and let this happen. One last thing. If you had to choose between paying your utilities or feeding your family and getting medicine then we all know what the choice would be.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] high bill outrageous illegal

This company NEEDS to be investigated for FRAUD. How the hell can they get away with this? Where is the class action. You can't charge someone 267 friggin dollars for ONE GOD DAMN MONTH when we barely use our utilities here in our 700 sq ft apt. We're at work all day. This is ludicrous. They are scamming us and getting away with it. In 2012 a "state agency" was investigating PSEG for over charging customers. How the hell is this legal?

Pse&g is billing me 277.98 for 8 (eight) days of service and the unit is empty. And unit it 800 square feet. I spoke to 5 (disrespectful) people of phone who were clueless, then a supervisor Anwar #cm13w who put me on hold not less then 4 times (total time on phone 3hours) just with supervisor and we got nowhere.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] raising my bill to 2 grand for hurricane sandy

Decision Makers at PSE&G:

I’ve just receive my August bill thinking that it would be
low, which I was right but also wrong because out of the blue I see a big
$2, 259.07 charge. Only thing I received was “we transferred $2, 118.00 (amount
may be higher) from another account”. What another account? What proof this
company has to just smack someone with a bill and say, here you owe this? Do
you want someone to say this to you?

For one thing, I just paid this darn account, # [protected]
about $500 and change (may be higher) because I remembered my balance was .90
cents. Then I received another bill, with some $10 credit, than this month
balloon to $2, 000 charge. Listen, I
can’t and will not pay for your hurricane Sandy charges that YOU received and
now you want to charge up people’s bills and put a shut off notice on it too. I
saw the news, where you will be raising people’s bills out of nowhere. We’re
thinking ok, a few dollars here but a whole two grand? You’ve got to be kidding
me!

The news stations will have to see my bill that PSE&G
raised to pay off their bill that was made for Hurricane Sandy. And no I will not only go to basic Fox 5, Help
me Howard stations, all the independent stations will see it, along with your
Facebook site, I will even create a Facebook site for PSE&G extortion of
raising poor black folks bills and expect them to pay it in a few days or shut
off will be done.

I have copy of old bill that says balance paid now a $2, 000
bill out of nowhere? You Red Edomite’s really need to stop with your earthly
greed’s, haven’t you read in Obadiah in KJV? Haven’t you? You should. You keep
messing with us Israelites from out of our forefathers Abram, Isaac and Israel.
You keep adding on more stuff upon yourselves in the book. No shame and no
mercy at all.

I will pay what I actually owe, that’s it. I’m already late
on my rent, plus 8 months pregnant plus about to be on maternity leave so no
cash. Now you want me to pay your bill? How about you pay my bill, this bill
you slapped me with? I know you’re reaction is heeeeeel no. Well my reaction is
the same for this one. Exactly this letter I will distribute also for all
public to see, watch out consumers, you will see unexpected bill out of
nowhere, dispute the charge!

I will send it to White House, Governor, ALL! I will not
stop. You’re a corporation of greed, while you go home to your mansions, sleep
great with free lights. No I’m not bluffing. I’ve sent this copy to you along
to another address.

You see my money order for my actual use of August charge,
so you see I’m not playing. Your own
greeds will choke you than you’ll fall. Than you won’t be able to enjoy your
hard work of greed any longer.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] customer service

I reported a minor gas leak on my furnace, the PSE&G employee came into my house and confirmed the leak and then they shut off my furnace and told me someone will come back the next day to fix it. He even asked me what time I will be home, I said 5pm or later because I work. He assured me he will make a note for them to come after 5pm...They came earlier and I didn't make it home in time. This is ridiculous because if they didn't do work at my house, they should have extra time in their time slot to come back but they didn't. I am pretty sure the worker just parked their van on the side and took a nap and reported that they spent x amount of time fixing things which they don't. I even seen a worker sleeping on the side of the road in his van around 2pm once. Anyway, I wouldn't have minded as much if it was just us adults but I have two children and one of them was a very sick 3 yr old with a fever... They were suppose to fix the leak the next day but they didn't and they didn't even care if my daughter got worse. I know most of your company employees do have some compassion but to not come back to fix it and just have my 3 year old just freeze to death, well that is just unacceptable. After speaking with numerous representatives and them promising me that the supervisor or manager will call me back (which none of them did by the way) made me feel like your company could care less if we lived or died. That to me is so heartbreaking and it makes me very angry. I am sure there are other electric companies I can sign up with and I have been using your company because I thought PSE&G cared about their customers but I was wrong. I guess I will have to start looking for a new electric and gas company.
Now I even have to spend an extra $350.00 to buy several electric heaters just so my children don't get more sick in this cold weather within the confinement of our own home inside. I can't just take off work to wait on the PSE&G guy to come at THEIR CONVENIENCE! What do they think, people like me don't have to work and bills get paid on their own. If it was an appliance or something, I can reschedule on a weekend but no it's the furnace to keep me and my family warm. All they could say is "well sorry miss but we can't help you with that but we can reschedule". What the hell is that to me? So I should let my sick 3 year old freeze all day and night again and again until PSE&G feel like sending one of their people over to fix it. I am a PAYING CUSTOMER!
PSE&G late schedule is unrealistic...Who can seriously work full time and make it home to wait for PSE&G workers to come in between their so called late schedule which is 4pm-8pm...so you have to leave your work at least by 3 or 3:30pm to make it home for them to come fix something you already pay them to do. They say worry free contracts help us out but I don't see how it's helping my family in emergency situations like this... What is the point of calling someone if we have a gas leak only for them to look and confirm it but don't fix it. We could just shut off the furnace ourselves if that is the case and freeze on our own. I think you should address this flaw in your customer service and should not call it emergency line unless you can fix it on the spot especially for gas leaks !
Sincerely,
One disappointed and pissed off customer...

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] lack of protocol

I recently smelled gas on th outside of my house and called PSE&G to get the issue resolved. It was basically an issue outside the house with the gas meter. I clearly stated all of these detail to the representative on the phone. I asked them if I needed to be home and they said that I would not need to be home. While I was out, about a 30 minute drive away, they called me and said that they have to shut off my gas and if I dont come back in time, I would have to call in to have it switched back on. When I got back home, I called right away and they said that they would send someone out within 2 hours and for me to call back if no one showed up. The 2 hours passed and it was 7:30 PM by now. When I called back I was told that they may or may not come. The next morning, I called them and instead of admitting that the whole issue was their fault, they basically said that when someone isn't home and the gas needs to be shut off, it wont be switched back on unless someone is at home. I don't understand why it is so difficult for a company as big as PSE&G to just create a protocol which states that for any repairs, someone must be at home. By giving customers the impression that they are accommodating their needs, all they have done is create more issues for the customer. I am now without gas 18 hours later and my house is quite chilly and I haven't been able to get any cooking done for a very busy weekend. PSE&G, please change your policies. Wake up and pay attention to what real customer service is!

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] $500 deposit required when name change due to divorce

I have lived in the same home for 20 years and had the same PSE&G account number for 20 years during which time i have never paid late once. The account was in my husbands name, the checks were always written from my checking account. We recently divorced. I continued to pay the bill since he moved out, almost 2 years ago, 5 months after my divorce and legal name change i contact PSE&G to have my name changed on the account.

They opted to give me a new account number, same address, same house - new name. They DID NOT TELL ME they would demand a $500 deposit on this new account. I contacted them and they said the ONLY ALTERNATIVE is to approve direct withdraw from my checking. I told them i could prove that the last 20 years have been paid by me from my account. And that i had the last full year of statements in my possession. THEY WOULD MAKE NO EXCEPTION. This is totally unfair billing and collections practices - who is the agency to report them to, does anyone know?

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] account security

I recieved a letter from PSE&G that their records indicated that my service at my home was sceduled to be taken out of my name because someone called and said I was moving. I am the homeowner and we are not moving but PSE&G granted this to this person without proper identification, security information...so I gues anyone can just call them and do this at anytime. I have called customer service and the guy said "oh no everything is ok" then I said why would I recieve this letter he told me to ignore and i said i want to speak to a supervisor and finally we got it straigtend out but this is still a major problem. HOW CAN ANYONE JUST CALL WITH YOUR ADDRESS AND HAVE THIS DONE? WHAT HAPPENED TO SECURITY QUESTIONS? I am awaiting a phone call back this is a very serious problem.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] - billing

First, I was told that my gas bill for January 2012 was due to "storage" of gas during the summer months and that I was being charged the storage fees during the winter months. I've never heard or seen this before. My second complaint is in regards to my Febraury 2012 bill. I was told that the person reading the meter mistakenly inputted the wrong number...

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] rude unethical customer service

They shutoff power in below freezing temperature (due to some confusion in the online payment) - a payment of $500 was made (even though the due was just little over $300. A higher amount was paid because of the emergency situation as the only way to make a payment (quickly) was through "automated" phone service - that is so idiotic that it can pullup your account information and "take" your money but cannot tell you "how much" you need to pay (amount due). So therefore we just paid $500 to make sure the pseg is paid. We made several phone calls. They did not care that there was a bedridden women and an infant in the house. We asked for manager but the rep literally told us that: "I will not get you to the manager and you will have to deal with me". We called again and begged but the response was similar. We left the house in the evening to find some warm shelter and food. When we got back around 9pm still no power. We called again and they told us that someone came to turn on the power (at 8:44pm) but no one was home. We were even more frustrated by that because they never told us that someone will be coming over and we need to be in the house. When we argued they said that "you should have asked that question". I mean how in the world would we just assume to ask that? They did not require us to be home when they shut off the power, they just did it. So we assumed that thats how it'll be turned on. They should have told us that. The customer service was extremely rude each time and they told us that we cannot give you a time, they can come anytime between 8am and 5pm. So we are still freezing, even after paying over $500 (dont forget the convenience fee for paying on ph) and we cant even sleep because if they come (ring a bell which wont work) we want to make sure to catch em. This is simply a horrible experience with a horrible company and a horrible service.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] power outage for days

While I understand that due to the snow storm many consumers are without electircal power. However when I see around in the neighborhood, which is an extensively large area of about 2 miles radious with over [protected] homes I see no PSE&G crew working on anything. When I called them they say they are 'invisible' to me. Their pubilc announcement say there are 98000 consumers without power throughout the state of New Jersey (as of Nov-1), which is baseless as there are tens of thousands of people without power in only couple neighboring towns where I live.
There is no accontability at PSE&G to provide accurate verifiable information and when you ask as a consumer you are shown lame excuses eg 'our workers are invisible but working'
I hope authorities don't remain in bed with these guys, wake up and make them work - deligently. Elections are not too far !

I have also been down since early Saturday. I completely agree about their terrible response (was there any at all?). Contacted them on one occasion, I was on hold for 3 hours. When I finally reached someone, she was rude, unattentive and sounded as if she was better served on welfare. I can say this however, they appeared to have a promt response for the rich neighborhood in West Orange. Shame on you PSE&G. I am switching company.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] cool customer program scam

PSE&G is running a scam to enroll homes in the "cool customer" program. They install a thermostat (decent quality) and you agree to let them "cycle" your compressor on hot days. They promise a $50 that never comes. When you inquire they tell you "there is nothing here that says you are entitled to a credit, let me send an e-mail, someone will call you." You never hear from anyone. You never get the credit, and they shut off your AC to save there equipement when you really need your air conditioner. They refuse to put you in contact with anyone capable of resolving the issue. They claim no to have any phone number and that they only communicate by e-mail. They solicited my my mail, I have re-read the flyer multiple times to make sure I am not crazy. They are running a scam.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] pseg is horrible and they are robbers

I have a vacant building at 1747 Springfield Ave. It has been vacant for tow years. Nobody using lights and nobody using gas. Guess what. my pseg bill is almost 3, 000 dollars. I called their customer service and I was told that it is becuase of commercial building multiplier, annual demand, and summer demand combined, therefore my bill is high. I kept calling them for two years and kept telling them it is vacant. Where is that high annual demand and summer demand come from? I wonder if their customer service people ever did elementary school math. Another building on Springfield Ave of a small nail salon of about 800 sq ft with two wall A/C units. The autal electricty use provided by liberty power is about 150 dollars, but pseg facility charge is about 1, 200 dollars. Again it is due to summer demand. In other words, they charge you by assumed demand, not by actual usage. My annula demand index has been something like 17 for 20 years, but this year goes up to 89. I called them and they said that they think they are right even one of my a/c broke. They assume that way. They said that they will call back. I got that promises millions of times, never trust them because they will never call you back. Monopoly is key word. They are too big to fail and big enough to do anything they want. If you are small you steal something and then jail terms. but once you are big you can steal or even do a legalized robbery. Even government can do nothing about it

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] horrible customer service

I received a notice from pse&g stating I needed to contact them to schedule an inspection. I called this morning and to jason (no last name) to do so and he was without a doubt the rudest, most obnoxious idiot i've ever spoken to. He had no idea what I was talking about or how to help me, and to top it off, he was unwilling to transfer me to someone who could. He's in serious need of some customer service training. Pse&g please! Make sure your employees have proper training prior to putting them on the phones to interact with customers, as this will have a huge impact (not a good one) on your company at some point! It really needs to stop.

PSE G HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS THAT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH! I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BILL/PAYMENTS AND NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN IT. THE WAIT TIME TO SPEAK TO A REP WAS SO LONG AND ONCE I FINALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE THEY EITHER PUT ME ON HOLD FOREVER OR WERE RUDE AND COULD NOT HELP. I SPOKE TO ATLEAST 8 REPS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO LEAVE MY NUMBER FOR A SUPERVISOR TO CALL ME BACK. THE WORST PART OF IT WAS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMPUTER GENERATED ON THEIR END AND I WAS STILL TREATED SO RUDELY BY REPS THAT ALL GAVE ME DIFFERENT ANSWERS ABOUT MY ACCOUNT! FROM WHAT I HEAR AND READ, A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TELEPHONE AND/OR ONLINE PAYMENTS TO PSEG. I PREFER TO PAY MY BILLS ONLINE BUT I WILL DEFINITLY GO BACK TO MAILING PAYMENTS TO PSEG-I DO NOT TRUST THEIR SYSTEM-TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD DOUBLE PAYMENTS TAKEN FROM BANK ACCOUNTS OR PAYMENTS TAKEN OUT FOR THE WRONG AMOUNT. BE CAREFUL WITH PSEG AND DONT EXPECT ANY HELP WHEN THEY MAKE A MISTAKE!

I don't know Jason, but I've spoken to four or five people in the last 2-3 weeks and all of them are as incompetent and bad-mannered as I've ever dealt with. Absolutely obnoxious management of customer service at PSEG. It seems like they are protective of their revenues and train their reps to discourage customers from any action.

Worst thing is that you have no choice but to put up with their customer disservice. I am going thru similar one right now, I called them and waited on the phone for 45 minutes to update my account after moving into my new house. The customer rep confirmed that everything was completed, yet I received my monthly statement with name "OCCUPANT UNKNOWN". Had to call them back and waited about 30 minutes to get someone on the call. Now the they are telling me that it's too late to update my account and I have to personally visit their office to update it. When I tried to explain it, he just disconnected abrubtly.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] lights shut off without notice

I am completely disgusted and enraged by the lack of knowledge, care, and concern of the customer service reps of pse&g. My husband and I have been pse&g customers for 20+ years and we've never ever had our lights shut off and last night we came home to a dark house. This was obviously an oversight. So I called their customer service line and I was put on hold for 2 hours. I went back and forth with them and even after paying my pay and I still have no electricity a day later. Their customer service reps are rude, arrogant, and inconsiderate. For months i've begged to have someone come out and read my meters, for months i've asked for an explanation as to why my bills are constantly on the rise and no one ever wants to assist me. All I keep doing is paying and paying for bills that I don't believe are mine. My husband and I own a small cape and its just the two of us, so I can't see how are gas and electric bills are $400 and rising. I would like to file a class action suit against this company if anyone is interested.

Just an update... after the billed was updated and paid they came to put back on... They threatened with theft of services... I asked them... against who? The employee that talk the money for leaving a spinning meter in? So what was stolen... sounds like an employee and employer issue.. not a customer issue!

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] complete lack of interest in getting repairs done right

Before you rush out to add the worry free service contract to your already over charged billing be warned. Have had this contract for 3 years and this past month actually needed to use it due to problems with my water heater. So that is 3 years at $350 per year (over $1000 paid so far) to have them come out and determined why the pilot light went out. Well one month later, 5 service visits later, 2 weeks total with no hot water (with 2year twins) and 4 days off from work to wait for these jokers to appear and I am still without hot water.
The amazing part is not only do the service men highlight eachothers incompetancey to do their work correctly, but when they tell you a part will be in the next day and it will be installed as the problem was being caused by them, you get a call stating it will be 3 more days until the part can be installed!
So now I am ready to ditch the joke of a contract and repalce the boiler altogether to end this nightmare and to cancel this obvious waste of time and money. The contract title is right, the worry free statement is for pseg as they sit on their backsides worry free about what you can do about having to go another week without hot water or anyone servicing the boiler who may actually know what they are supposed to be doing.
I actually had better service and repairs with american home shield warranty, at least they recognized the need to provide a paying customer and their family hot water during the coldest winter in years!

Thanks for nothing pseg I am sure you can find the right place to stick your worry free service contract, on second thought it may well take 5 guys to do it as it has to date with my boiler and still no hot water!

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] equal payment plan

There was a mistake made on PSE&G 's part. Now that the mistake has been cleared up I'm now responsible for a 2, 600 dollar bill. I feel very strongly that I shouldn't have to pay this bill

Civitas - Take your damned advertising elsewhere. Sure I'd love to have solar if 1) I lived in a relatively sunny part of the country and 2) I had the 20 grand it would take to set it up. Your "alternative" is as offensively clueless as it is self serving.

It's hard to argue with real experiences but unfortunately these things happen, however the reality is that you shouldn't t have to put up with it. And the great thing is that you don't: there are other choices to get energy out there - I am of course referring to solar energy.

You may have heard about solar before, but what you may not have heard is that solar can offset you bills to practically nothing and it is far more affordable than you might think:
a) If one has the means they can purchase it for cash, It pays for itself in about 6 to 7 years. No more bills plus it earns you an income. Enough said.
b) One can also take out a loan and finance it that way. Immediate savings can still be achieved from day one even with a loan however the payback term is slightly lengthened to account for the loan interest payments. You still get the income through selling your energy credits and when the loan is paid off you have full energy savings and the income combined; or
c) the third option that one can take is to lease a solar system. In this case the leasee is able to lower their electricity bills today and continue to pay that same low amount each month for the entire lease term of eight years - and with no upfront cost to the leasee.
For example, if you are paying an average electricity bill of $120/month (1, 400/year) you will only have to pay about $96/month (or $1, 152/year) for the next eight years -- even if electricity rates are sky-rocketing. At worst you save $288 in the first year for doing nothing, and as rates rise you save more. The best part is you don't have to pay anything to have it installed: The financier takes care of that.

It's awful to hear stories like these, but because it's PSE&G it means you're in New Jersey and New Jersey happens to be the best state in the country for assisting individuals with adopting solar. So, if PSE&G are causing you grief then give solar a thought.
