Progressive Casualty Insurance racism

My friend (who is half Asian with an American name) applied for a position in Claims. He passed all their tests and phone interviews. He was then scheduled for the final in person interview. While he was in the waiting room, the two hiring managers came out of the back office and their jaws dropped to the floor. They interviewed him but he did not get the job. You see, there are no minorities working at that office location. NONE. They said they will get back to him in a week but when my friend left countless messages and emails, they were all ignored. DO NOT waste your time applying for a position with Progressive if you are a minority-you won't get hired.!

i received a bill from progressive after they cancelled my policy for nonpayment? how is this legal . I am requesting a full itemized statement of the charges they are trying to charge me. terrible company a total rip offff

Progressive is also the only automobile insurance company I've encountered that promotes a policy of assessing an early cancellation fee if you cancel their policy before it endsand wantto take your business elsewhere, you will still end up paying Progressive more than they deserve!

Progressive Casualty Insurance dishonest vehicle evaluation

A little over 2 weeks ago I was “rear-ended” by a Progressive- insured driver. When they determined that my car was totaled, they offered me a settlement amount that was $1500 below NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association…the accepted guideline used for determining used car value among most auto dealers and insurance companies) and $1200 below Kelly Blue Book price (a more commonly known pricing guide used by consumers). When I questioned the amount…they told me that was their offer and they would not budge on the price. “Take it or leave it.”
They furnished me 5 “comparable” cars and their prices they used to determine the value of my vehicle. FIRST: ALL 5 vehicles were selected from either a “buy here, pay here” corner lot dealers…or from individuals in the “Tradin’ Times” magazine. Not “genuine” permanent dealers associated with auto brands such as Ford, Lincoln, Buick, Chevrolet, etc.
When I contacted these sellers of these vehicles I discovered the following…
One car need (in the words of the dealer) a complete paint job…it was totally weathered from the Florida sun. When I asked if it could be buffed out…he commented…absolutely not, it needs a paint job.
Another had substantial rocker panel damage on the passenger’s side that amounted to a minimum of $1000 to repair.
A third had a rather “worn” cloth interior…with “minor” stains. Mine had MINT leather interior.
The other two…were from advertisements from 2 months ago, and had been sold.
NOW FOR THE REAL “KICKER” When they “priced” these cars…they DID NOT use the price listed in the ad as their value. They ASSUMED the dealer would take 15% less than listed and only offered me that mount for my vehicle. What a “RIPOFF”.
This company is beyond conniving…they are absolutely DISHONEST. They offer unsubstantiated values (with no documentation to back them up) and REFUSE to negotiate or even listen to your arguments to the contrary.
My only alternative was to turn to my own insurance company to file the claim. They are currently processing it, and will issue me a check for my car shortly. They will then subjugate the payment back to Progressive for their reimbursement. Even though the accident was not my fault…I don’t know what this “claim” will do to affect future rates with my insurance company. Time will tell.
If you currently HAVE Progressive insurance...my suggestion is to change to another company. If you’re THINKING of getting Progressive insurance…THINK AGAIN.
Do you really want to deal with “thieves”?

Progressive Casualty Insurance stay away from this company

My car was hit while parked in front of my residence in June of 2010.. I called the police and filed a report and the officer even spoke to a witness.. I called and placed a claim through progressive, and a month later was contacted by them for a second time telling me the evidence shows she did in fact hit my car.. and they were going to cover the repairs (my airbag light was coming on and off.. and wasn't before she backed into my car so hard, it was still rocking back and forth when the girl got to the end of my street according to the witness..) so they had me find the nearest chevy dealership, made the appointment for me to drop it off, and even reserved a rental car. i brought the car in, picked up the rental.. and 10 days later was called at work and told they chose they couldn't link the airbag light being on to the accident and weren't going to cover the repairs.. at this point i went to the dealership to pick up my car already upset, and was informed i would have to pay 108.12$ to take my car back for diagnostic. How is it right to be capable to have someone take their vehicle in for repairs, keep the vehicle for 10 days, then choose to deny the claim? is that backwards or is there something incorrect with ME? i find this ridiculous as hell and am NOT AT ALL satisfied with the service i received through progressive. they were very rude, and the report i was given after picking up my car from the dealership stated ''VERIFIED SHOWING INVALID SERIAL DATA WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED FROM IMPACT TO VEHICLE EVEN IF VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING" ..my response to this is, are you kidding me? i plot on filing a complaint and/or lawsuit because i do not see any justification for their thoughtless actions.

Progressive Casualty Insurance they'll take your money, but not pay claims

I've been a customer with progressive insurance for years, spending enough in premiums that I could afford to buy two cars. When they raised their prices, I stayed with them even though they weren't the cheapest. I thought that over time, a customer builds loyalty points with a service. The more patronage you give, the more service you receive.

Recently, one of my five vehicles I insurance with progressive insurance caught fire. While driving the van, fire came from under the hood. Pulling over, the fire was put out with a fire extinquisher. This saved the majority of the van, but of course several items under the hood were lost to the fire. The van was towed to a trusted and highly rated mechanic, and a claim was filed for fire damage.

Now, despite the fact that there is no evidence or proof that the fire was caused by electrical components, because the fire was "close" to where the electrical box was, Progressive insurance DENIED the claim. You see, even though I have coverage for fire, they have a loophole in case of electrical problems. At the end of the day, they can choose which they wish to follow. Now, though I spend over $13, 000 a year with them for insurance, and the bill for the repairs is $3, 500, they decided the most prudent business decision was to deny my claim and leave me holding the bill.

The sad thing is that if we hadn't put the fire out, Progressive Insurance would be buy us a brand new $25, 000 van plus everything else lost in the fire. Since we put the fire out, saving them money, they stiffed us and left us out in the cold.

Progressive Casualty Insurance mishandling of claim

I have been a client of Progressive since 2008. On May 12, 2011 I was driving to work when another driver made a left turn across 3 lanes of oncoming traffic smashing into my car. My car caught on fire and, both, myself and the other driver were taken to the hospital in ambulances. The accident was rather serious and it is amazing neither one of us were seriously injured or killed. The other driver was issued a ticket and admitted to police that she was at fault. Later that day an adjustor called me to gather the preliminary facts surrounding the accident. Immediately he was convincing me to drive over an hour away to have Power of Attorney forms signed. When I asked him why he stated that it was because from the information I gave him it sounded as though my car was a total loss. I was rather confused at his rush to judgement. He had obviously not yet seen my car or an accident report and was simply going by the words of an exhausted and hurt person. I left the conversation with a very bad feeling because he only seemed interested in taking my car. Obviously, I did not have a car at that time so expecting me to drive over an hour away while injured just to sign papers seemed quite absurd. I explained to him that I wanted a detailed report of their findings before I agreed to anything to which he said was fine. My car had been towed by police to a local yard and he was eager to get my car out of there. I then explained that I had several belongings in my car that were extremely important and valuable and I needed time to get to the car to remove them. He gave me his word that the car would not be moved until I was well enough to drive and get into a rental and get over to the car to remove my personal items. The next few days I was in extreme pain and could not even turn my neck so there was no way I was able to drive. The first day I could I went for the rental car and drove to the yard to remove my stuff from my car. However, when I got there, my car had already been moved the day before over an hour away to an auction yard. I was so angry that this had transpired. My car was gone without my permission, along with everything in it. Upon calling Progressive, they explained that it was some kind of mistake with the towing company and that they were sorry. I now had to drive over an hour away to recover my items. When I got to their auction yard, I was met with a car that had been rummaged through. There were things missing from my car and what was left was completely destroyed, as the interior was soaking wet for some unknown reason. The auction yard said that the only reason they moved my car was because Progressive told them to, a claim that Progressive denies. I immediately requested to speak with a supervisor due to the negligence exhibited by my adjustor. He kept saying that there was not a supervisor to speak with and kept talking in circles. I finally got him to give me the name and phone number of his supervisor, hoping that she would be more helpful. I was dead wrong. She only backed the adjustor and defended his decisions, stating that he had done everything properly. That was when I was informed that they were no longer paying for the rental car. Basically, the very day I picked up the car was the day that they decided to no longer cover the car. It was explained to me that once they declare the car a total loss they only cover a rental for 3 days. I was surprised to hear that they declared the car a total loss because this was not discussed with me at any point despite the fact that I explicitly told them I wanted a report. Whenever I would ask them for help they would essentially lie to me and, again, try to persuade me to drive to get the Power of Attorney forms signed. They also informed me that there was nothing they could do about the stolen and damaged items, despite the fact that they were lost because Progressive went back on their word and moved my car. Never in all my life did I ever think I would be treated by my own insurance company this way. This entire thing has been nothing but a nightmare. Progressive tried to persuade me not to contact the other driver's insurance and not to waste my time contacting a lawyer. They completely stripped me of all my rights, making all the decisions based on what suited them best. They were not willing to speak to the other insurance for me or fight for me whatsoever. I was forced to take matters into my own hands and contact the other driver's insurance. I have been fighting for myself, which leads me to question why I am paying Progressive at all. I have been doing all the work, going back and forth between them and the other insurance. It is now almost 2 months later and still nothing has been resolved. I still have not received a settlement check and have been paying for the rental car out of pocket. None of this seems fair or legal for that matter. I was the victim in this accident. I am the injured party under doctor care. I have lost my car and the items within my car. I have lost countless hours at work and several hundreds of dollars. This entire situation has been extremely stressful and has consumed my life all day every single day. I spend all of my time making phone calls in an attempt to get this matter resolved. I am in utter shock with the way Progressive has handled my accident. Never have I been so disrespected and mistreated by people I pay to take care of me. Progressive has even lied about me and the claim numerous times, making this situation even worse. When they learned that I was speaking to the other driver's insurance, Progressive called them alleging that they were handling the claim and that it had been settled. Progressive told the other insurance that I had been paid on this claim which is an absolute lie. The other insurance then accused me of attempting to commit insurance fraud. Thankfully I was able to convince them that Progressive had lied to them. When I confronted Progressive they, of course, denied this as well, despite the fact that I had the name of the agent who called. Oddly, the man who called on behalf of Progressive was not my adjustor and a man I have never talked to. They have competely altered their records to reflect that they have done everything correctly and that I am the problem. They treat me as though I am the "bad guy" in all of this, not as the victim. They have been extremely rude and even nasty. I have caught them in far too many lies to count. They say one thing and then do another. They make promises they do not keep. Anyone thinking of switching to Progressive needs to be very careful because they do not know how to treat their clients. Meanwhile, I am in significant pain and no closer to a resolution. I will be glad to see this come to a close, eventhough I will be taking a huge loss.

Progressive is an awful insurance company. Our experience wasn't as bad as this. We, fortunately, have Allstate and have never had any problems with them. However, if you're hit by a Progressive insured motorist, prepare for a world of hurt.

Recently, my daughter was rear-ended by a Progressive insured motorist. The Progressive motorist was in the wrong and cited by the police. Progressive tried its damned best to low-ball us--they tried to get the car totaled for a "song and dance" settlement. The body shop talked to the local Progressive people to see if we could bring down the repair bill a bit by just having the bumper refinished instead of replaced--there was no structural damage here, only to the passenger side, rear side panel, as the collision happened on a merge. The local Progressive people seemed open to it, but then the adjuster in the state where the collision occurred didn't want to hear it. He wouldn't even talk to his own people!

I told him we were getting the car fixed and then I was sending Progressive the bill. Eventually he came around. I settled for the refinished bumper, but would have taken a harder line if my daughter, who drives the car, didn't need to take it to school within a couple of weeks and didn't want to deal with the estimates. The body shop estimated that the car was worth 50% more than their low-ball estimate--although old, it was maintained well and in excellent mechanical condition. We'd never be able to buy an equivalent replacement with what they were offering. Taking the car back on a salvage title also reduces the money they have to pay you and then you have to deal with all the hassles and diminished value associated with a salvage title.

This is a sleazy company! Don't roll over for them. If they try to low-ball you, if you can, just get your own estimates (get three and take the lowest that replaces with OEM parts--talk to AAA about reputable body shops in your area) pay for it yourself and send them the bill. Tell, them you're going to do this and follow through if you have to. If they don't pay, take them to court and sue for diminished value, and attorney's fees too. Consider it a public service, because the more people that take a hard line with them the less likely they are to try to get away with stuff. If you can't do this, talk to a local attorney before settling. I also urge people that currently use Progressive to shop around for a reputable company. If enough people do this then the rest of us won't have to deal with Progressive when we get hit.

BTW, we had only liability coverage on this vehicle, hence Allstate wasn't involved--except, the local agents gave me some excellent advice in dealing with Progressive. Another tip: be sure to get any receipts for work recently (approximately the last year) done on your car. Don't buy the line that this is just normal maintenance. If you've got new tires, installed a new exhaust, catalytic converter, or anything like that, it is worth money and makes your car more valuable. Don't accept their estimate of the car's worth--the adjusters just glance at your car. They're not mechanics and don't have any basis for really determining what your car is really worth. They're looking at comparable sales, but have absolutely no insight into the mechanicals of your car or the comparables.

Progressive Casualty Insurance non payment for damages

Reenctly I had boat engine damage . The bottom of the engine hit a submerged item and damaged the bottom and the engine power head. The mechanic at the Marina stated that the power head damage was due to the bottom of the engine being hit. Progressive refused to pay for the power head repair of $3, 000. Progressive has great premimum prices but horrible coverage.
I have since cancelled the policy and reported them to BBB.

Progressive Casualty Insurance 24.03 % rate hike

My wife & I have been with Progressive car insurance for over 16 years. This last month 4/11 they raised our premiums by 24%. I called and asked why. We have a perfect records meet all the requirements as customers...no accidents, pay on time, etc. We cut costs a year ago due to the economy.

We called another insurance company (All State) & sure enough we were able to get the same rate we have been pay with Progressive and we did not even have the customer loyalty program yet!

Remember Progressive will not work with you PERIOD! I've tried. They seem very indiferent, to the point of being flip.

You have to shop to get the best rates. All insurance companies have rate increases over time. The last time I shopped my insurance, the most expensive quote was twice as expensive as the least expensive. I shop my auto insurance every year, and every year I find a lower price. I set up this website to help people understand their coverage, give shopping tips and customer satisfaction ratings for 38 leading insurance companies: http://www.smartshopyourcarinsurance.com

Progressive Casualty Insurance charged my credit card after the policy purchase

Hello, I received a quote for Car Insurance from Progressive for 6 months as $289.00 and I paid the same amount without making any changes and bought the insurance. But my credit card was charged for $327.00 and received a mail from Progressive. Then I called progressive and explained that I paid $289.00 but my card was charged more and asked them to refund the balance immediately. Progressive claims that there was a not at fault accident added to the price later. It was a small scratch on the back of my car hit by another car earlier and the other person paid from his insurance. It has nothing to do with my Insurance Policy. The agent Cindy asked me if i was with Progressive that time and said that If was with Progressive, they will remove the additional charge.. 1. Progressive cannot charge something otherthan mentioned in the quote. 2. My credit card was charged extra after making the payment. web site was showing a diff amount but charged diff 3. Progressive cannot increase my premium when I have nothing to do with it.

Progressive Casualty Insurance nothing but gotchas

Do not trust your security to this company. We purchased "renter's insurance" after moving and awaiting our home construction to be completed. The tornado of april 27 tore the roof off the home where we are staying, our possessions to be covered by progressive home advantage. Fortunately we were able to preserve most of our belongings and we had help trying to put on a tarp over the home. I called progressive to simply find whether we were covered for any hotel room costs since the home became unlivable with no electricity, water and only a tarp roof. They said we weren't in their system - no record of us. Since I had paid premiums I knew we should be on record. My son sorted through our stuff and found, amazingly, the file on our insurance and the policy number. After being redirected to four different numbers and 90 minutes of waiting and a maze of "please press #", I finally talked to an agent and gave her the policy number. Wah-lah! Sure enough they did have us in their system. I investigated the addresses, contact info, name they had on record to see why they couldn't find this info before. Nothing was different that what I had provided during the first phone saga with them. I asked the question, again, that I needed answered: are we covered for motel stay. She informed me that (Even though she is looking at my policy) she couldn't tell me that - i'd now have to talk to a claims agent. Another journey through numbers to talk to a claims agent who ultimately informed me that I probably wouldn't have any coverage for motel because they had a tarp on the roof, so the home would be considered by progressive "live-able." I expected the $500 deductible (Though I wasn't sure it would apply to the emergency need for alternative housing). But the notion that a home with a roof destroyed by a tornado, no water or electricity should be "live-able" while more storms and tornados are coming is the most heartless, greedy, "bait-n-switch" "gotcha" i've ever heard of. We suffered so little compared to those who have lost lives or suffered total losses. I can't imagine the shock and disappointment they will endure by this company. This is truly a scam to be aware of. Do not get sucked into slick advertisement. This company is not as advertised and certainly not "progressive."

Progressive Casualty Insurance insurance fraud

A car that was insured by Progressive Auto Insurance at the corners of E. Helena Avenue and Riverside Drive, where the car that is insured by Progressive Auto Insurance ran a red light and hit a van at the intersection, after hitting the van ended up coming to where I was standing on the Bridge and hitting me. After the car hit me it backed up and drove off. The driver of the car who I found out was driving under suspension and is not the owner of the car. Progressive Auto Insurance sent me a letter on May 29th 2010 stating that after investigating the accident, that they find there was no negligence of the owner of the car in the accident. How is that the owner of the car let someone who they probably know is under Drivers License Suspension at the time of the accident let that driver use their vehicle? I feel that the owner of the insured car should be held responsible if not at least partly responsible for the actions of the person who was driving the car, I feel that I should be compensated by someone in case the driver at the time accident has no kind of car Insurance, then the person who's car that caused the accident should be held responsible. I thought that it would fall on the owner of the said vehicle shoulders since it was their car that caused the accident where I was badly injured. I have a pretty good size wound on the top of my head because of a person not paying attention to the light if it was Red or Green went they went through the light, that's what the driver said in her version of the accident in the accident report to the Police. She went as far as to say that she had hit the 2nd vehicle and then drove off, nowhere in her statement did she state that she also ended up hitting me before she drove off.

How can any well known Insurance company such as progressive figure there is no negligence on the car owners half if the owner of the car let an unlicensed driver use their car that causes an accident? I feel that Progressive is wrong in their decision and they should dig a little deeper then they did. I feel that Progressive is afraid that they will end up having to pay out a big settlement to me because of one of their insured drivers let someone who has no business behind the wheel driving use their Vehicle.

I am very sorry to hear about this incident and I hope that you are not hurt too badly. Most insurance companies will not insure a driver without a valid license which means that you will probably have to go after the owner and driver of the vehicle personally. If your injuries are reletively small, check your own auto policy. If you have medical payments coverage, they will most likely cover your injuries, even as a pedestrian. Your auto insurance company may attempt to go after the owner of the vehicle at that point. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Progressive Casualty Insurance auto repairs

My auto has damage to it from getting hit in a Walmart parking lot as well as damage from the first snow store in Ohio. This insurance company wants me to pay (2) $500 deductible in order to get my car fixed. In addition, I have to pay for a rental car due to the insurance agent did not bother to add car rental to my policy when I took it out in 08/2008. This is totally unfair to me as I live on a disability check & no longer have a part-time job. The settlement I received from a work related injury is all the money that I have to carry me over until I can find another part-time job. All Progressive cares about is collecting money & not doing anything to help their clients. I would like to resolve this issue as I cannot go back to my old insurance company until the lawsuit is final from being hit in the rear end.

Progressive Casualty Insurance customer service/ claims dept.

I am writing to express my frustration with the Progressive auto insurance company-claims department and customer service and the at-fault determination that was made. On January 15, 2011, I swerved to avoid hitting a deer. In CT, there has been over 2 ft. of snow and the roads were narrow and there was less than normal space on this road to drive. As I was driving, a deer popped out and ran across my vehicle. I swerved slightly to the right to avoid the deer and hit part of a snow bank on the right side of the road, damaging the passenger side of my front bumper and fog light. I called Progressive to report the accident and spoke with Victoria. After describing what happened, she told me I was at-fault and explained reasons why that I didn’t agree on. The claim was then transferred to Gina Paniccia and Kristen of Progressive in Milford, CT. They were not helpful. Gina stated that I hit a stationary object (snow) and classifying as at-fault. I told her that I swerved right instinctively due to the fact that I did not want to endanger drivers on the other side of the road. The swerve was so slight that if there were no snow, I wouldn’t have went off the “road”. Both Gina and Kristen did not assist me in any way. The employees were very rude and snotty in speaking to me. I immediately asked for their supervisor’s name and Gina directed me to Claims Manager, Rich Oulundsen. Mr. Oulundsen said he would review and get back to me. He was not prompt in replying to my concern. I felt that I wasn’t a priority. When he finally called me, no compromise was made. He sided with his employees that I was at-fault. I was hoping for Progressive to make an exception due to the extenuating circumstances of this situation. I feel that I did the right thing in order to protect the safety of others as well as for the animal. I felt I had a valid argument and I feel that Progressive pushed me aside in not directly dealing with the issue and concerns as a customer and did not attempt any compromise.

Progressive Casualty Insurance never use them

My car was hit while parked in front of my residence in June of 2010.. I called the police and filed a report and the officer even spoke to a witness.. I called and placed a claim through progressive, and a month later was contacted by them again telling me the evidence shows she did in fact hit my car.. and they were going to cover the repairs (my airbag light was coming on and off.. and wasn't before she backed into my car so hard, it was still rocking back and forth when the girl got to the end of my street according to the witness..) so they had me find the nearest chevy dealership, made the appointment for me to drop it off, and even reserved a rental car. i brought the car in, picked up the rental.. and 10 days later was called at work and told they decided they couldn't link the airbag light being on to the accident and weren't going to cover the repairs.. at this point i went to the dealership to pick up my car already upset, and was informed i would have to pay 108.12$ to take my car back for diagnostic. How is it right to be able to have someone bring their vehicle in for repairs, keep the vehicle for 10 days, then decide to deny the claim? is that backwards or is there something wrong with ME? i find this ridiculous as hell and am NOT AT ALL satisfied with the service i received through progressive. they were very rude, and the report i was given after picking up my car from the dealership stated ''VERIFIED SHOWING INVALID SERIAL DATA WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED FROM IMPACT TO VEHICLE EVEN IF VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING" ..my response to this is, are you kidding me? i plan on filing a complaint and/or lawsuit because i do not see any justification for their thoughtless actions.

Progressive Casualty Insurance inappropriate claim handling

Progressive’s insured client made a left turn across my vehicle’s path at an intersection. My vehicle was subsequently determined to be totaled. The police report found Progressive’s client responsible.

I have a number of complaints regarding the methods employed and handling of this case by Progressive:

1) Although the police report placed full responsibility for the accident on their client, Progressive took the tact of suggesting that we might be “partially at fault.” They hinted that they were investigating a witness to the accident. In my opinion this was intended to test the waters to see how easily I might be manipulated, hoping to reduce the amount of compensation they might eventually pay out. It is very upsetting to have family members in an accident in the first place, but to have an outside party play these types of emotional chess games for the sole purpose of lessening their payout is deplorable. I had to consult with an attorney and spend time writing several letters before Progressive finally admitted that they had 100% liability. I should not have had to do this and feel empathetic for others who, I am sure have to endure similar tactics.

2) Another deceptive practice is being used by Progressive staff members. They explained that I would be compensated for the value of my vehicle based on its N.A.D.A. Blue Book retail price. That seemed logical, fair and reasonable to me. They added that there would be an adjustment to that figure for is “local market value.” Hearing this, I will admit that I wondered to myself if this adjustment might not be a little in my favor since the local market value of my all-wheel drive vehicle would certainly be higher in the northeast than in many other parts of the country where snow is less common.
A Valuation Report was transmitted to me by Progressive. I will use the base numbers provided to me for simplicity of discussion. Progressive’s Valuation Report showed the N.A.D.A. Blue Book value of my car to be $4, 150. To my dismay however, the report placed a “local market value” of $2135 on the car with small adjustments for extra equipment; I cannot replace my vehicle for $2135. For my final compensation Progressive apparently decided (arbitrarily) that it was appropriate to weight these numbers equally (averaging them.) I had the following exchanges with Progressive staff:
• I asked how this seemingly arbitrary number was arrived at and got the answer “That’s the way we do it.”
• I questioned the validity of the number and its relationship to reality and got, “We ran the computer program again and got the same number, therefore it is accurate.”
• I questioned their method and got, “Our methods are consistent with Connecticut Insurance Department standards.”
I strongly disagree with these methods and Progressive’s evasive “answers” to reasonable questions.

I found it necessary to take the time to research the retail price of similar vehicles in the local market and obtained a letter from a local car dealer stating that the value of my specific vehicle was actually between $5495 and $5995 (letter attached). This information was submitted to Progressive and has been chosen to be ignored.

3) Several days after Progressive staff members had explained to me that there could be no adjustments to the compensation, I received a phone call from them.
A staff member explained that they had not originally included certain additive adjustments, in the compensation. With these adjustments, they could get me closer to the final value that the N.A.D.A Blue Book value would yield. Although I was glad that that their hard position appeared to have softened. I was dismayed that these adjustments had not been suggested previously.

4) Most recently, Progressive has not returned my phone calls, responded to emails or requests for information. They have my vehicle and money I am due for compensation. They appear to be taking no steps to resolve my case. It seems that if I don’t agree, I get nothing at all.

The tactics employed on me involving this claim are very likely being employed on other citizens (for greater sums) who are less able to fight for themselves. It is wrong to have people being taken advantage of by scare tactics, arbitrary and unsubstantiated numbers, withholding of information, and finally being ignored.

I think that I have been reasonable. I would have gladly accepted the published N.A.D.A. retail value for my vehicle, (although I have proof that my car was worth more than that figure.) As a conscientious engineer, I have great difficulty accepting arbitrary numbers, whose basis can not be explained.

I have just submitted a compliant to the State Insurance Department. Hope that helps. Anyone have any other ideas?

David W. Harms

Progressive Casualty Insurance waste of time

Used Progressive web site to get a auto insurance quote for me and for my daughter. Entered all requested details - names, addresses, Date of birth, social security numbers, drivers licenses and history as requested. Requested quoter comparison. The initial quote was only $99 per month (liability only). After coverage update (added comprehensive, collision and rental) the quote was $207. Received an email confirmation for that price. At the requested additional info for the accident (already entered) provided details for the accident - not at fault.

After this the quote price increased to $671. Called Progressive to question. The phone representative tried to convince me the initial quote was only for me and it did not include my daughter. This was not true - I have printed summary and email where this was clearly stated. She put me on hold for 20 minutes to talk with her supervisor. After she returned she simply said the new quote is the correct one without an explanation about the initial quote. I feel that my privacy have been violated and my time wasted. I will not recommend Progressive as fair auto insurance provider.

Statement of events

`
On may 7th, 2009 I went to work as usual and while entering the building struck my right elbow on what I thought was the door. there was that instance of pain and that horrible feeling when you hit your funny bone. I continued to my desk, laid down my purse and other bags and sat down to start up my computer. moments later I noticed a blood smear on the desk top and took out my mirror to see my elbow. there was a small laceration, not requiring stitches, so I wiped it off, put on a band aid and proceeded to start the day. the pain subsided, but shortly after numbness and tingling was shooting from my elbow to my finger tips and this is when I thought maybe I had fractured a bone in my elbow. I had never had an on the job injury before and wasn’t sure on what to do. my immediate supervisor was not in yet, there were no other supervisors available on my floor. I asked a lady who used to be a supervisor what I should do, and she advised I speak to the next level supervisor, which I did. she gave me the number to call workers compensation and I was instructed to go see a doctor immediately and have my arm looked at. the doctor checked out my elbow, took x-rays, which luckily did not show any fractures and explained that I pinched the ulner nerve and it may take some time to heal. he advised if symptoms persist or get worse to come back. I went back to work right after.
On 5/11/2009, I called the gentleman from workers comp again and told him the symptoms were not any better and there was numbness in 2 of my fingers. he again sent me directly to the same doctor, who did not do any more x-rays, but recommended light duty at work and taking advil. my job really had no light duty, so I just continued working. he also advised I wait 2-3 weeks to see if symptoms persist and to come back if they get worse. I did not miss any further work other than seeing the doctor twice when I was told to do so.
May 19th I was asked to come into the human resources office for some follow up questions and was taken into a room with my supervisor to view video footage of the day I was injured. after several minutes of looking at another woman on the video that was not me, I was eventually shown entering the building. i, personally, can not verify that the tape they showed me was actually the morning of may 7th. I was standing about 6 feet away and I didn’t notice a date clearly showing. I was shown on the monitor entering the building and it appeared that the door did not hit my arm. it is a possibility that the id badge box was what I hit with my elbow, even the security chief stated that while viewing it. the cameras do not show after entering the building, if I hit the wall with my elbow as I turned to go to my desk. I could not explain why the video didn’t show the door hitting my arm, but I would have passed a polygraph test on the spot if I had been given one.in my mind at the time, I associated the injury with the door. these security doors are made of metal and glass, they are extremely heavy and if the wind is blowing on them, even heavier. i, and i’m sure many others have had issues with the doors in the past. they agree it’s possible that I made a mistake on what I actually hit my arm on, but it had to be right before I sat down at my desk or it would not have still been bleeding.

There was absolutely no reason for me to lie or make it all up. I had personal health insurance, the best coverage pgr offered. I loved my job and worked extremely hard at it. I had just moved in march 2009 to be closer to prg because I had decided that was the company I would retire from in 20 years. I had to study for months and it took 3 tries before I passed the florida insurance exam. the last exam I had to pay for myself. during my tenure I was awarded rising star, top dog legend, 1st place for renewal retention, 2nd place for road to service, 1st place for renewing their commitment, 8 – net promotor scores of 5 out of 5. my team won a poster contest from an idea I designed. I completed every personal smart goal in a timely manner, my phone stats were excellent, my attendance was above average. on a monthly basis I spent anywhere from $30 - $50.00 of my won money on team area decorations for holidays, birthdays, special occasions, plates, utensils, cups etc for team food days. I helped to organize our monthly food days. I always arrived 15-45 minutes early for work.in the 2 ½ years I was there, I was not late once. I got along with everyone from supervisors down to co-workers. I took 60-80 incoming calls a day where most reps take 30-40 calls per day. I am an honest, hard working, team player that would not have risked losing my job over a whack on the funny bone. everyone that works for pgr knows there are cameras all over inside and outside the buildings, so why in the world would I make such a statement if I didn’t honestly believe it to be true?

The accusations of misconduct and falsifying records with the goal of misappropriating company property are ludicrous. there is no evidence to show willful and wanton disregard or malicious intent against pgr. i’ve never been fired from a job in my life and i’ve been working for 30 years. i’m the kind of person companies want to keep, the honest, hard workers that don’t steal office supplies or call out sick every other day, or come to work hung over and smelling of alcohol.
My husband was diagnosed with thyriod cancer last year and needed surgery and followup care. during all that was going on with him, I still only missed 2 days of work after applying for fmla. if that doesn’t show dedication, I don’t know what does.
