1 Miami, FL, United States Review updated:

It is a copy of the emails that I sent to Cobra:

Good Morning:

My name is Roxana I worked for Gravier and Associate until I was fired this year (January 13, 2009).

Since they offered to me the continuation coverage Insurance with COBRA I have been trying to start my coverage, and I also have sent two checks that were already charged in my account (I am attaching the copies of the checks). The first check was sent to Gravier and Associate's office and the second one was sent to United Health directly.

I don't understand why I am still receiving the Continuation Coverage Agreement to sign it and the payment request for the periods starting on February 2009 when the checks were already charged on my account.

Thanks,
Roxana

i am writing to appeal a decision made on my cobra account. my husband was laid off in may of 09, we were told we could keep our insurance through cobra. we have had trouble ever since. first i got a bill for eight hundred and something dollars which wasn't right, so i called and the lady said ya'll had misplaced the papers my husbands former employer had sent so you have to call them and get papers again showing we qualify for cobra. two more months go by before i get a straight answer from this company, by then we are three months behind and not our fault, because i could have paid it each month if ya'll had our account right. i finally get a statement with the right amount owed, i sent a payment. but by this time we are three months behind and expected to pay all of it at once, because i had signed a paper to have my payment drafted from our bank, they tried to draft all three payments at one time(which we can not afford, we're laid off)so i stopped payment on the draft and called and talked to a representative who told me to fax a letter saying to stop drafting from my account.she told me that i had til september the 3rd to get the payments to the company {that my payments had to be post marked by sept.3rd} i mailed a payment 09-01-09 and 09-03-09 which is what i was told to do! And now our insurance has been cancelled because they weren't received by 09-03-09 but thats not what i was told and talked to another representative today who told me they only have to be postmarked by then, which mine were! so i'm not understanding why we were cancelled when i did everything i was told to. we have 4 kids and really need this insurance. i have the money to pay my next months payment just needing to know why you aren't excepting it. please reconsider your decision. our account is under daman wickson#514-82-4723

Association for Lifestyle Reform Adds Fraud Investigation Division to Protect Its Members

    Hotline set up for customers

Chino, CA - February 23, 2010 —The Association for Lifestyle Reform (ALR) recently added a Fraud Investigation Division for customers to contact if they believe they did not purchase what was originally promised by third-party marketers.

ALR is a membership-based organization that provides discounted services to its members, such as pre-paid legal services and discounts on vacations, auto rentals, and prescriptions. As a membership-based association, ALR is able to provide discounts on behalf of its members by obtaining group pricing, including limited supplemental insurance benefits.

ALR engages third-party marketing firms to sell memberships. The company carefully screens the marketing firms it works with and sets and provides guidelines when speaking with potential members; however, there have been instances where independent marketing firms deviated from ALR’s guidelines. It is ALR’s policy to ensure the security, privacy and satisfaction of its members. To that end, ALR has established a Fraud Investigation Division. The division will take customer complaints regarding the sales process and investigate the issues regarding the marketing firm involved.

“We are very excited about being able to offer our product to people, however, some members have experienced an inferior sales process, ” said Brad Wessler, CEO of Association for Lifestyle Reform. “Under no circumstances will we tolerate bad sales practices from the marketing firms we work with. Therefore, we set up a division specifically for this purpose and a toll-free number for our members to call.”

About the Association for Lifestyle Reform

The Association for Lifestyle Reform, ALR, provides discounted benefits to its membership. Members benefit from the association purchasing benefits at group discounts. Although one of the many services include limited supplemental insurance benefits, the association does not sell or market health insurance.
