PowersellerNYC Scamming from top to bottom

I have ordered many electronic items on the internet and have always received fair service from the sales department to the delivery man that comes to my door. When I researched my new TV selection it seemed straight forward as I selected the product, shopped prices noting the dependability rating of the supplier and ordered my product from Powersellersnyc. It was the best price and included free shipping so I was feeling good about my selection even though some of the excellent suppliers from the past were near the same pricing levels. After making order and waiting for a confirmation for two days I called Powersellersnyc to see if they had received my order.

Problem # 1 They confirmed they had received my order except they were going to have to charge me $54 for shipping because the TV was over a 42" screen size. When I advised them I had not seen that information they said check out the web site...it is there.

Problem #2 I checked the web site and could not find the plus charge notice and called back. The individual on the phone once again told me this was their policy, it was posted and it was because they had no insurance cover from local delivery companies so they had to charge the customer. There was a solution. Since I was already going to have to pay $54 for delivery, I could add $45 more and they could go to a private express company and it would be there in 3 to 7 business days and there would be special expedited services attached. I bought in.

Problem #3 When the discourteous delivery company came to my house 7 "business" days later they asked me where I wanted the TV. I told them I wanted it in the study on a 30" table that I now had my 40" CRT set on. As I am 72 and the CRT is heavy I asked them to set it down to make room and they said that would be an extra charge. I told these two young men that I had already paid $99 more for the delivered set and I was not paying any more. They did set it in the floor and sceddaddled. It is the second time (first and last) that I will make a purchase from Powersellernys as they seem to be on the take and scamming from top to bottom.

PowersellerNYC Bait & Switch, Plain & Simple

Placed an online order for a television. Completed check-out. Next day, I got a call trying to sell me add-on services and uneeded extra equipment. OK - this can be put down to (perhaps overly) aggressive business practices. However, when I turned down all the extras, they suddenly came up with a $45 "mandatory shipping insurance charge" that wasn't mentioned anywhere on their site or during the checkout process. Can there be any doubt that this business is crooked? I'm now in the process of trying to cancel the order.

Stealth Pilot: The site is PowersellersNYC.com and the phone number was required at the time I placed my order. Since making the complaint, I have learned that I checked the box to agree to their terms and conditions, and embedded in those terms is the notice that I will get a call to discuss buying additional goods and services, and to discuss shipping insurance. I called today to cancel, and the nice fellow who took the cancellation agreed that most people can't be bothered to read the fine print (he admitted that he doesn't either). I buy a lot online, and everywhere else includes all charges at checkout. PowersellerNYC claims that their online system can't compute the shipping insurance at the time of sale, but I think that if this unlikely situation is indeed true, they still could do a better job of letting customers know that additiional mandatory charges (to be determined) are going to be added. The agent offered to send the TV without the extra charge, but I felt that I ought not to encourage such business practices, so I turned him down. I received a prompt cancellation email, and to end on an upnote, I found the same item (Sony KDL-40HX800) on Amazon for less money and free shipping.

PowersellerNYC Money scam

I purchased a computer from PowersellerNYC and purchased a three year warranty with it. PowersellersNYC is saying that I did not register the computer. I did not recieve any registration documents when I purchased the computer. I thought that when I purchased the computer that they registered it. Now PowersellerNYC will not give me my money back or fix my computer under the warranty. Is there anyone else who experienced this type of treatment by PowersellersNYC, let me know. Maybe we can get a class action lawsuit going against this practice. PowersellersNYC still has my money and I have no warranty!

Here is a photo the the defective screen. The tuner is also defective. The tv will not change channels with the remote control keypad. Only the up down channel function works from the remote.

I purchased a plasma tv that I received today. They claimed it was new with factory warranty. The tv is defective and the warranty is missing. Now I am going to have to sue them and file criminal fraud charges against them.

PowersellerNYC Damaged TV

BUYER BEWARE! The standard shipping can take up to a month! You have to pay more to have the within a decent time frame. TV arrived damaged and the company did everything to avoid dealing with it.

They ignored it until I filed a claim with my credit card. The tried to intimidate me, they cursed at me. They are only nice until they have your money.

Ultimately, Amex honored the claim. This company is only nice until they have the order. once they've got your money they will tell you to screw off and leave them alone. Buyer beware.

I ordered a Sony Disc Explorer 4oo about 6 weeks ago. They did not have it in stock, but the sales person asked me to let him check his source. A minute later, he replied that he could get it for me. I was happy to have found someone who could sell me one as this one model has been discontinued.

The sales person immediately charged my account for $472.75.I called them back when I had not received an email for a receipt of the order number and payment made. The man said he would email me and I never received one.

I called them about a week ago and they are closed at 4pm and their mail box is full. I just realized yesterday that I have been scammed and I am aggravated, frustrated, and very angry!

Now, I have to cancel my bank card and file a report with the better business bureau instead of enjoying my purchased unit.

RIP OFF - RIP OFF. They tell you one thing & do another. Their communication is terrible. They do not email or call you back. I bought a $3800 TV and the price for warranty & mount were not disclosed so I was over charged by $700 for these items. It was to be free shipping & I was charged $147 for insurance. I was told on the phone by David that I would also get 10% discount which I did not. THIS PLACE USES THE BATE & SWITCH. Buyer BEWARE.

PowersellerNYC is a big RIP OFF. Did I mention PowersellerNYC is a rip off?

PowersellerNYC Fraudulent sales tactics

Ordered online item, they emailed me to call about the order. When I called they upsold me a warranty on the item stating the mfg warranty was not available b/c I was "not paying MSRP", so I agreed to buy warranty. Confirmed the order. I immediately called manufacturer to confirm this claim. The mfg said they do not offer warranty b/c the retailer is "not an authorized dealer".

I called Powerseller NYC back to cancel the order, was shouted at on the phone, called a liar. When the customer service rep finally stopped talking, I explained what happend and that the previous customer service rep had told me to buy the warranty b/c I "did not pay MSRP" (and not that Powerseller NYC was not an authorized dealer). I told them I do not do business with people who engage in fruadulent business practices so cancel my order...it was still difficult (he continued to yell at me! Could not believe it) but eventually agreed to cancel my order with no residual charges.

PowersellerNYC Misrepresentation of price and condition

Company sold me a home theater projector that had been tampered with, preventing redemption of rebate worth $700 and precluding product registration for extended warranty purposes.

On June 15, 2009, I bought online an Epson 6500UB projector from PowersellerNYC for the advertised price of $2, 864. The projector was listed as “new.”

The box arrived a few days later without a serial number label, which is required to redeem the current $400 + spare bulb rebate offered by Epson. PowersellerNYC customer service stated that is because they don't sell merchandise that is eligible for the rebate and the box label was intentionally removed before shipping to prevent redemption of the rebate.

Upon further inspection, I found the data plate, which should be on the projector itself, was also missing. Therefore, I have no serial number information on the projector and cannot register the extended warranty sold to me by PowersellerNYC, making the warranty worthless.

The bottom line is that PowersellerNYC advertised a price and made no mention of "after rebate" or anything else like it. During my initial complaint by phone on 23 June, the merchant’s customer service representative acknowledged that the “only thing they did wrong” was advertise the after-rebate price without specifying that fact. (Other vendors’ sites do clearly disclose the price both before and after the rebate.) I even mentioned to the person during order confirmation by phone more than a week earlier that I was going to redeem the rebate and he didn't say a word in warning.

This same projector is available from AT LEAST three other vendors listed on Pricegrabber.com for about $100 more, but they explicitly acknowledge the rebate eligibility and value, which brings their prices well below this misleading outfit in New York. That doesn’t even account for the $300 bulb, which I also have missed out on. So, for $100 more in price, I could’ve gotten $700 more in value. This equates to $600, or 20+ percent, net loss on my part. I hardly think PowersellerNYC would be successful advertising honest prices 20% above the competition. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether this was willful misrepresentation.

Made my initial notification to customer service and was promised a call back within 24 hours. Five days and two additional attempts later I’ve heard nothing, but they had no problem confirming my order within mere hours. I’ll be happy to edit this review if PowersellerNYC addresses my complaint in an acceptable manner. For now, I’m not holding my breath and this rating stands. Buyer beware.

PS. Don't be fooled by the storefront pic on their website, which might lend some credibility to their operation by indicating that they are a legit business with a physical store. The sign over over the doorways has been photoshopped. Don't know who those folks are or where they really work.

Can't figure out how to update/edit, so I'll try it this way...

Had what I considered to be a serious problem with my purchase of an Epson 6500UB projector from PowersellerNYC. Product arrived on time, but without a serial number label on the box and it was also missing the data plate with the same info. This prevented me from redeeming the manufacturer’s rebate worth $700 (cash plus bulb) as well as prohibited product registration for the extended warranty I purchased. I felt this constituted misrepresentation of price (at a minimum) and aggressively pursued restitution through the merchant's customer service representative, Justin.

After some early “hiccups” with PowersellerNYC’s customer service, the company offered a satisfactory resolution to my complaint. All in all, the experience would’ve been better if the problem had never occurred, but I have to give them credit for settling the issue in an equitable manner. Would only suggest that buyers are very careful about establishing all the facts relevant to their purchasing decision before hitting the “checkout” button. Don’t assume anything and clear up any potential issues during the phone confirmation. Guess I could've done a better job of this myself and hope this review might help keep others from stumbling into the same situation.

(Have to say I do absolutely love the projector.)

PowersellerNYC Fraud

I recently purchased the Sharp AQUOS LC-32D64U TV which was represented as new on the PowersellerNYC website. After I made the intial purchase, I called and spoke to a representative at PowersellerNYC prior to the TV being shipped. I told the represenative, that I wanted to obtain information on how to track the TV shipment and explained I had tried to obtain this information online but was unable to do so. The representative told me the TV was still in the warehouse and the estimated timeframe for delivery. This same information was also sent to me via e-mail. At no time during the phone coversation or e-mail was I told that the TV I purchased would be a refrubished TV. In fact the Powersellernyc representative even asked me if I would like to extend the original manufactures warranty by purchasing additional warranty coverage. This company should be closed down. I have an open case with sharpusa #5257264.

BEWARE OF THIS VENDOR. THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY.

In early March 2010 I placed an order for a Mitsubishi HD3800 Home Theater Projector with PowersellerNYC online. A few days later I received a phone call early on a Saturday morning (which I thought odd). I was told that they had received my order and it would be shipped within a few days. I was asked if I was interested in purchasing a replacement lamp, which, if ordered with the projector order, was available at a special promotional price. I told him I did not need a replacement lamp, because I was going to file for the FREE Replacement Lamp Rebate that was currently offered by Mitsubishi.

The projector arrived, but the serialized barcode sticker which is needed to file for the rebate had been removed. A "fragile" sticker was placed over the damage caused when the serialized barcode sticker was removed. When I called PowersellerNYC, I was told that my purchase was not eligible for the Free Lamp Rebate through Mitsubishi, because I had not paid full MSRP. They said that the rebate form is not shown on their website, because they are not an "authorized dealer".

According to PowersellerNYC customer service rep David, the replacement lamp is valued at $300. I found other websites that advertise the rebate, and have the form on their site, that sell the same projector for only $40.00 more than I paid from PowersellerNYC.

PowersellerNYC was not willing to resolve this issue, and either provide the Free Lamp, or return the serialized barcode to me (it's rightful owner), so I could file for the Free Lamp Rebate. I filed a dispute with my credit card.

An interesting fact, that may or may not be related, is that the same credit card was fraudulently used to purchase over $300 in DisneyWorld tickets online just 1 month later (April 2010). I believe these incidents are connected because I have only used that card twice in the past year and a half. The PowersellerNYC purchase was the last one made before the fraudulent DisneyWorld charge.

DO NOT BUY from powersellernyc.com
They not only insulted me on the phone when I tried to get confirmation of shipping order, but the also threatened to charge my credit card and threaten to make me go through a fraud dispute with them, because I wanted to cancel my order! These guys should be shut down. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

When I ordered a Samsung Blue Ray DVD over the phone, the salesman suggested that I purchase HDMI 1.4 cables. I did. The cable band width was insufficent to support Blue Ray, resulting in dropped frames. My HDMI 1.4 cables worked fine. I called the company and was told that to return the cables, I must e-mail the store to get a "Return Authorization Number". I did. Their response was "We do not accept returned cables as a matter of policy". Spend your money elsewhere.
