On 10/05/07 we purchased a used 2004 Honda Civic hatchback from Power Honda of Valencia.
At the time of purchase, we were encouraged to buy an extended 24 mo./24,000 mi. warranty for a used vehicle. The price of the warranty was added on to the monthly payments. On 1-14-08, the vehicle would not move. We asked Palmdale Honda if we could bring the vehicle to them since it is much closer. When the car was trailered to the dealer in Palmdale, they informed us that Honda Care (the warrantor) does not cover a modified car. Therefore, the warranty we purchased will not be honored. At the time of sale, the vehicle was a modified car and we were not informed of this. We would not have purchased a modified car. Power Honda of Valencia and Honda Care are unwilling to accept any responsibility for the warranty of a modified car to unsuspecting clients. For two weeks, we tried to contact someone who could help us at Power Honda/Valencia. Finally, the Gen. Manager, Frank Pestano, basically said "too bad". Our choices are: they will refund the warranty and we provide transmission repairs; or we continue paying for the warranty and they will repair the transmission but the remainder of the warranty will be worthless. Our point of view is that we purchased the car and warranty from Valencia. If they cannot get their warranty people to honor it, that is their problem, not ours. We purchased the car from Power Honda/Valencia, not Honda Care. We do not have warranty on the work that Power Honda is doing on the transmission. It may breakdown on the way home. It has been in Power Honda of Valencia's hands since 1/14/08. Today is 2/28/08, I have not received ONE phone call on the status of my vehicle. I called them today to see whats going on and why I haven't received a single call. I spoke with William, who carries out the inspection of the vehicles. He says it's someone else's fault. My parents and I have NEVER been treated with such disregard and disrespect from a company. They DO NOT return calls, when they say they will...NEVER!!!! Also, when we spoke to the manager Frank Pestano, we asked him if this type of situation happens a lot (where they sell you a modified car, without informing the you that's it's modified, and then sell you a warranty for the car, but the warranty won't cover your modified car.) He said it happens all the time. You can get a lawyer if you'd like. Or take my offer. I want to let everyone know that Power Honda of Valencia is a shady company. You should NOT do business with them, you might end up in the same position I am in. Right now I am making payments on a car I am not driving and a warranty I do not have. With the warranty I would have a rental car, but of course my warranty is useless. I have lost my job because I have no transportation to work. This has put so much stress on my family and I. I will never do business with Power Honda of Valencia again. NEVER!!!!!
