Planet Fitness gave the gym dr note to freeze membership, they didn't and claim I didnt submit medical documentation

I had surgery in April 2011 and submitted a doctors note to the staff member at Planet Fitness in Warren, MI and requested my membership be frozen. I was just approved to go back to full duties in Sept 2012, and went back to the gym to unfreeze my account. They told me that I owed $159 and my acct was cancelled in Dec 2011 and they never received medical documents therefore my acct was frozen. The lady stated to bring in the documents again and she would show the manager ERIC. He is so rude, and not customer friendly. He basically gave me to stories/lies and stated he could not do anything. I called their Corporate offices, and they were not helpful either. They did get ahold of the Franchise owner and he stated that he would cut the bill in half! I DON'T OWE THEM ANY MONEY-I WAS ON A MEDICAL DISABILITY! They did not do their job and note my account when I gave MEGAN the medical note back in April 2011. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Planet Fitness dirty facilities

I have to admit it is an awesome deal. As a black club member I pay about half of what my roommate pays at her gym and I get 1/2 of cooler drinks, and unlimited tanning and all day use of the massage chairs. Unfortunately I'm African American, don't use the massage chairs and I don't want anything besides water when I work out. My biggest issue is the cleanliness of this facility. It is always disgusting in the changing rooms. It is clear that someone tries to mop or sweep the floors in there, but misses the corners. So it's sticky and dusty. Also their showers always full of air, and back up constantly. The water runs out of the showers when it is backed up and into the toilet area. This means you have to walk through standing water to get to the bathrooms. Also the toilets have sensors and I"m not sure if they just don't work or what, but sometimes you'll hear them flush when there is no one there, but when you go in to take care of business, it's impossible to get them to flush then. This place is really gross. I signed up because it was cheap and because it's "No judgement" but it is disgusting there. I've looked at pictures of other facilities and they seem to be clean, but if you are going to sign up for this place, please please please don't just look at the gym area, take a look at the bathrooms too.

Planet Fitness gives blacks a discount? Do white members know about this? I know Denny's had to in Michigan for making them sit in the back of the restaurant but I never heard about this one.

Planet Fitness fraudulent billing

Planet fitness has been fraudulently biling me for seval years on a credit card that I didn't use vey much so I didn't notice the extra charges.   I talked to Capitol One and they suggested that I cancel the credit card and that way I could absolutely stop the billing.        I am a chronic pain patient who has had neck/ disk fusion surgery and I still see a Pain Management Specialist for monthly pain medication and Epidural Steridoal Injections about 3-4 times a year.    Ther is no way my Dr. Would allow me to even join one of these kinds of clubs because of the imminent danger of re-hurting myself.       Planet Fitness then opened a claim with a company called People Claim, who claims they are only to act as a go between and try to help both of the complaintants to work out this in a forum.   Planet Fitness also made a refund suggestion of $1006.93 to resolve the issue.   After that, Planet Fitness has stopped responding to the claim they themselves opened. I decided to take them up on their refund off of $1006.93 and just allow us to both go our separate ways and be done with this issue.     People Claim said they are not responding.    My claim number is [protected].   Would you please respond to this email and try to help me get the minimal refund?     Thank you.

They are so rude here, they have no customer service what so ever, they won't help you cancel and just take your money. The guy Matt I spoke to on the phone was rude and horrible towards me, I got off the phone feeling bad. He didn't answer any of my questions and made it look like I was not a customer. I have been paying without using the gym, after...

Planet Fitness lied about canceling my account

I left planet-fatness because of their poor equipment and rude gym members. They have no free weight barbells what so ever.

Went in and had my Planet-Fatness membership canceled, I had a cancellation sheet signed by a planet-fatness member yet I was still billed the next month. I called in when I was billed, the manager Corin, acknowledged that I should not have been billed, apologized and told me she would have a refund check sent in the mail.

A week later no refund was received, I called in again and they told me my membership was still active and had not been canceled.

Planet Fitness planet fitness gym contract scam

I have had an account with Planet fitness and recently i had my name logged onto ITC check. when i signed up i didn’t want to commit for three year contract and the guy who enrolled me said that if you don;t swipe your tag for three months the account gets frozen per se. The problem arose when i did not get any calls or emails nor any post from the gym in over close to two years.

I phoned Planet fitness Montana, which was my branch, and then the lady there told me I was over due almost R4400. This was unacceptable and the lady put me through to accounts department where a gentleman told me that the money is not even reflecting at head office. the service then was so poor i could hardly believe it, he gave me number for the company that deals with the handed over accounts and there, after a hug struggle with finding the right person to speak to, i spoke to some form of management that told me they have had no details of my account.

After I told him the situation he agreed that this was absurd and that he would sort it out. I then waited for a call from him but to no avail. The following phone call was from a lady wanting to take payment arrangements and she was very rude and stating that “it was my own fault that the account got in arrears”. Highly upset i agreed to pay R250 rand off a month on the account. As then i had lost my job and then spoke to lady to make a double payment for the outstanding month and the the following month i went to the bank and saw I was on the ITC.

This I find very unacceptable as there is no record of anyone from the gym or there credit offices that phoned me in the almost two years that i was a member. I went to see a lawyer earlier this week and said that I definitely have a foot to stand on.Now i don;t want to go that way as is will take allot of time and money and it very unnecessary to drag this thing out. I will make my payments for the gym and do understand that an arrangement stays, but it was your gym and there responsibility to notify when the debit order was not going through.

I have recently visited the gym and got the lady there to print my details as it was on your system and NONE of the info was incorrect, accept my address was wrong. But there is no way I’m going to get a bad credit record for the plain lack of service and professionalism that i have received.

I am filing a complaint today regarding collection practices and a bait and switch advertisement. I feel my rights were violated when the company opened a new location in my home area and stated on the TV advertisement, No contracts. This was advertised however when I went into the gym with my partner and reluctantly signed up as they sweetened the offer...

Planet Fitness access to gym

Me and my son joined Planet fitness in Aurora in Durbanville Cape Town. When i joined i was told that i need to pay a R100-00 deposit per access disc which means i paid R200-00 deposit. We completed that contract and then my son joined the Planet fitness gym at Cobble centre Durbanville (3 year contract). The guy in charge (Tony) took in the old disc and told him that he would activate it so that he could get access to the gym. I have spoken to Tony on a couple of occasions and informed him that i am making payments but my son do not have access to the gym. When i made the first payment i noticed that they added another R100-00 to the account again for a deposit for a disc. I indicated to the person assisting me that Tony took the old disc and was suppose to activate it and that the should take off the R100-00. Again i spoke to Tony and indicated that if my son cannot have free access to the gym i will not be making any payments till the problem is sorted. Every time i phone the gym then i must hear all the problems Tony created and that they busy sorting it out. No one from planet fitness contacted me. This morning i get an sms to say i am handed over because i did not make any payments. How can i make payments if my son does not have free access to the gym. I was not contacted by any staff to make payments. I feel that Planet Fitness did not honour the agreement. And if so there staff committed irregularities, why must i be held accountable

Planet Fitness quality

This gym has racist rules.

No bandanas typically used to keep sweat out of one's face can not be worn for any reason. You can wear a bandana if you hide it with a baseball cap or a hoodie. Brilliant!

Le'ts be frank, usually, black people wear the bandanas. I have heard that the concern is that pf is afraid of gang activity. This is highly insulting but in case you don't care of the reasoning, understand that it is on everyone. To make this clear. If you are Jewish, no Yamaka, if you are muslim, same thing, no kufi cap and the list goes on. Reminder, you can hide it and sweat more if you wear a baseball cap or your hood.

Also, rules are only enforced when they feel like enforcing them

This combined with the lunk alarm, no grunting and inadequate equipment makes me long for the time to be over so I can leave this dump behind,

Stay away!

Planet Fitness refusal of refund

Well, my complaint is about Planet Fitness refusing to refund me. What happened is that I had a contract with them which was only going to expire on the 6th January 2012. During December 2011, Planet Fitness was running a special and were encouraging members to take out new contracts - which I also did, as it was a good deal. The new contract was taken out in December 2011 with the understanding that it will come into force on the 7th January 2012 - when the old conract had expired. After experiencing issues during the second week in January, with my access tag not working and everyone and everybody saying they will resolve the matter, I got so fed up that I decided to cancel the new contract on the 11th January 2012, followed by a cancelation letter in the form of an e-mail on the 12th January 2012. Planet Fitness management and their CEO refuse to refund me my money as they say I should have cancelled the new contract in December 2011. My question is, how can I have two contracts running at the same time, from the same company, for the exact same services..? This to me does not make business sense, nor does it make common sense ! Planet Fitness themselves even confirmed that according to their books, the new contract was to begin on the 7th January 2012. Their bad service pushed me to another gym and now they don't want to refund me..?

THe staff doesn't care about you as most of them are high school/college kids who just want the free use of a gym and place to do their homework. Plus, the balances of disputed membership fees are typically so low, that no rational person will pursue this in court, even small claims court. There is no corporate hierarchy to appeal to as the simply pass the buck by saying each franchise is their own business and they have nothing to do with it. It's a cheap, and that's what gets 99% of everyone who uses the gym through the doors so you are truly getting what you pay for.

Hi. I have sent an email to [protected]@planetfitness.co.za on the 22-11-2011 to cancel my gym membership. Planet Fitness horrible service

Very bad customer service. I have always been a loyal member of this gym in the past 2 and a half years. I always attend during my lunch hour andwhen get out of work cal my mother. Every time I walk into the gym I proceed to he fitting room while on the phone with my mother. The employees there prohibit the use of my cell phone in the FITTING ROOm. I have visited other planet fitnesss in the area and had never had this problem before. Employees are very mean an rude to me. Without notifying me, they cancelled my membership because I enter their gym with the CELL PHONE. Very horrible rules and services in the LANGHORNE GYM. I would recommend to STAY aWAY from this place.

Planet fitness spells their slogan "judgement free zone" with the word "judgment" spelled incorrectly. I have called the corporate office and marketing division several times to no avail. I will never again pay for a membership at this gym as I am embarrassed just to walk through the door.

Planet Fitness money scam ripping members off

My girlfriend and I signed up and were going to Planet for 6 months at the Glen Burnie location in Maryland. The place is in ok shape but could be kept cleaner and needs some maintenance on the machines. There were at least 6 machines out of order for two months. Not sure if they were waiting for parts.

Problem is,

Our relationship ended and I did not want to keep bumping into my ex-gf so I went in to the Planet counter person and told him I wanted to cancel my membership. He was busy on the phone. I told him I could wait until he was finished. He handed me a pen and paper then told me to put my name, address and phone number down. I did this and he said he would take care of it.

Three months went by and the bills kept coming. I thought it just took a few cycles for them to stop the billing. I called them about it but they said I had to go online and send "Corporate" my complaint about the bills that kept coming. I sent a few emails and eventually I received a phone call telling me that they had no info stating that I had cancelled my membership and that I would have to pay the entire amount. I told them that it was not my fault and that I refused to pay it.

Well, in another month I received a pink notice that was from a collection agency. Now the bill was up to $120.00 plus other fees.

I contacted them and I told them I had no intention to pay for it and why. She said it was already put against my credit report. Personally, I do not care what happens here I am not paying it. I told them to take me to court (because I know they won't) for that small amount. She laughed and said well its on YOUR credit Report.

I am not at fault and feel this is very un-professional. Even now that my other gym (SNAP Fitness) has closed in my neighborhood I want to go to Planet because its closer and cheaper but I refuse to eat my words so I am going to a place that costs more.
I am not backing down. SNAP is the cleanest and best kept gym I have been to in Maryland.

- Spoke to Megan on April 6th 2011.

- Megan said the balance due is $120.00 after she waives the late fees but she is not waving the monthly fees.

- Rodney Farmer

Is the general manager and he was un-available at time of call..

I thought Planet Fitness was only $10 per month, plus an annual "maintenance fee", or whatever they call it? As for the cost of a gym membership, please, people, look beyond how much you pay and look at the services you get: is the place always clean? is there a fitness instructor there that actually knows anything about health and fitness? does the club provide other services such as a walking or running club? an infomrative facebook page? etc... I get the impression that the people who only look at the price aren't relly interested in getting fit.

Planet Fitness false information given by joining and inappropriate motives

I was approached by the sales manager and he told my friend and I that we can join for the six month special and pay R59 p/month. As we are students and wont be able to pay the normal monthly fee we asked what happens after the six months and he said we'll be able to cancel and he will give our contracts over to new members. after the six months passed they ignored our cancellation and said we dont have proof of what he said to us!

The sales manager also used my number and contacted me personally and asked me inappropriate questions after we had coffee about my sexuality. i was shocked and disgussed and went to the general manager and said I want to cancel my contract and she said that he said that I invited him!

Im caught in this thing and dont know what to do!

Planet Fitness poor manegment and dirty

When lifting heavy weights its not OK to grunt and drink water from a jug or you are considered to be a so called "lunk". Sounds like a lot of judgment from a gym that prides themselves on offering a judgment free zone. While doing butterflies with decent mass building weight its only natural to drop a 25lb rubber coated dumbbell on the rubber floor, however for this i was criticized. I was told when i opened my account i could come in and pay cash monthly instead of charging my card. Weeks after joining the gym i was notified that they didn't accept cash at their desks, that their employees would not be allowed to handle cash. I tried to ask staff members about how to use the machines and they can never help or offer any assistance. And whats up with the waterless toilets in the bathrooms, they smell like piss. Maybe they should keep a journal log on the door of when the bathrooms were properly cleaned last. Ben was the manager at this Indy location. PS.. the purple sucks 2. you're a rip off

Exaclty right. Funny how the music is turned way down so you caan hear a pin drop, and as soon as the staff hears hard breath or even a slight noise there over telling you about policy. Planet states its a judgement free gym, but they are the ones judging on how your suppoosed to work out. I guess sitting at a machine while on your i-phone talking, texting or playing games is acceptable because god forbid we say something to them for holding up the machines. Today i just got my membership terminated. THANK GOD.Now i can move on to a better gym anyway. Oh and by the way it was the Planet in Kissimmee, fl @ the osceola mall. If your really into workout and have a better body go somewhere else. Planet says they are a sponcer of the Biggest Loser. Last time i watched biggest loser i saw people breathing hard, screaming, yelling, grunting from actually WORKING OUT. Guess corporate is just greedy and really doesnt care about what they say their gym stands for. Sounds as if there is some contradictory going on.---JEFF BOGIN

Planet Fitness treated like a naughty child

I have been a loyal customer at the Planet Fitness gym in Bedford Centre for close to three years. I have never lodged a complaint. But, this morning I was turned away from the gym. I left feeling intimidated and dejected.

I had infringed one of the gym’s new rules, which I had only been told about yesterday. I had misplaced my gym tag and was told that since I had misplaced the tag three times, I would not be granted access to the gym. I apologized for the infringement and suggested that since I had only been informed of the new rule yesterday, I should be given a chance to locate my tag. The gym’s computer system had a picture of me and could easily verify my identity.

But Gerhard Marias, the gym’s manager, coldly informed me that no compromise could be reached. I either had to pay for a new tag on the spot or leave the gym. As I had no cash on me this was impossible, and my tag had been misplaced not lost, so the purchase of a new one seemed wasteful. I was told to leave the gym. For the first time in nearly three years, I was told I could not be granted access to a gym I had supported and promoted to my friends and family.

When I asked for understanding. I was coldly told that ‘the line had to be drawn somewhere’. Instead of being treated as a customer, I was treated like a naughty child who had to be taught a lesson. I am a very soft-spoken person and found it difficult to make myself heard and understood by the manager who often spoke over me and used a condescending and curt tone when addressing me.

When I asked for his name he initially refused to give it to me and pointed at the receptionist, dismissively saying ‘she will write it down for you’. It took me three tries for him to actually tell me his name in person. All he did was reassert his new rules and make it clear that I was not welcome at the gym today.

I was confused. I had often compromised and remained loyal to the gym when things went wrong at the gym. Why was I not shown equal understanding? When the gym asked members to pay for parking for a period of about a month this year, I never complained. The days when the pool was not warmed this winter, I never complained. When a proper running machine was not provided for the Feminique section of the gym, I never complained. When the showers did not have warm water, I never complained. I find it disappointing that after accepting the numerous errors committed by the gym, when I infringed a new and unfamiliar rule, I would be rejected as a paying member.

Hey. I completely understand that situation. But don't take it out on the gym and don't stop going. It's because managers sometimes have customers who refuse to listen, they take it out on others who do listen and start to 'talk over you' and give you 'condecending' attitude.

What I always do is that I would go over the company policies, rules and regulations. Keep going to the gym regularly, and if you ever notice a staff member, a machine or some sort of safety rule being broken. You will go directly to that exact same manager, you will be assertive and tell him that it's just not acceptable for those kinds of things to happen and blame it 100% on him.

Make sure that each time you go over, he remembers you as that guy who will launch the complaint to end his career. Because whenever you're around, he'll be looking all over the gym to make sure you don't find anything wrong.
