I have owned this business for 37 years. My brother-in-law was my business manager for 22 years until Dec. 10, 2008. He died on Jan. 1, 2009 after a 17-year battle with prostate cancer. Eleven months before his death, he signed a 4-year lease with Pitney Bowes for a DM100 Postage Meter. The lease payments total $1, 405.52 a year ($117.13/month) which represents 62% of our annual postage expense! He wasn't well when he signed the contract and I don't believe he fully understood the details.

In the months following his passing, I reviewed the last few years of his work and discovered this unreasonable lease. On several occasions I have contacted Pitney Bowes Customer Service to ask if I had any options to lower what I considered an excessive lease fee. Nobody was helpful.

Today the Pitney Bowes website promotes the DM100 to new users as being free for a 2-month trial and then $34.99 for 12 months. This monthly cost is $82.14 less than we are paying! I have 24 months remaining on my current lease.

We have been a loyal PB customer for over 20 years. As each lease comes to a completion, a sales rep shows up and says our meter is obsolete (no longer supported) and that we must replace it with a current model. I feel that this time we got screwed. How can the prestigious Pitney Bowes continue to prosper when they treat their customers in such a manner?!

I want to caution anyone who is considering entering into a lease agreement with Pitney Bowes to thoroughly understand what they are signing and negotiate with zeal. Also, be aware that there are a half dozen other companies that can also provide postage meters. Compare! I only learned this fact recently.

I have been an Office Manager for over 20 years and have never had an issue with a vendor like Pitney Bowes. We acquired a company with a lease from Pitney Bowes. I need to break the lease due to we already have a machine in place with another company. For months I have requested bill that is broken out to cancel this account. I am still waiting 5 months later. I have spoken to a multiple people at the company and continue to get the run around. I will never use nor recommend this company to anyone.

I am having my own bad experience with pitney bowes. I have a rental agreement with them and I have gone from bad problem with a meter to accounting errors. Their record keeping caused my account to be sent to a collection agency. Here is some background. I paid rent on the first meter for a full year without having use of the meter. The support team was unable to help and they finally determined that the equipment was defective and I returned the meter. They attempted to accommodate me by sending me a new meter and reducing my monthly rental. I sent them a check in April 2012 and never heard from them again. Their telephone representatives are terrible and I was assured that nothing was owed. When I check my account on line, it did not show that a payment was due. In January 2013 they took three payments out of my bank account in two days. I always paid monthly. I had to remove my debit card from the account because they planed to take 8 payments out of my bank account in January. When I spoke to a representative back in January 2013, I thought that they acknowledged their error and was allowing me to make up the payments by paying double payments each month. I have paid double payments each month and now that I am a few months away from being current, they turned my account over to a collection agency and requested that I return the meter. I told them that I would return the meter back in January and I was discouraged from doing that because we have a payment plan. I am more than happy to pay them the $60.00 that I owe and return the meter with the return service they finally sent. I can say from my experience that they are great liars and are not the kind of people to do business with.

I am sorry for your loss. However, a lease is a lease and must be settled but the estate or paid in full. Lesson learn on "leases", read the terms and conditions and do not blame a 90 year old AMERICAN COMPANY. ALL oher meters are made overseas...

Watch Diane Sawyers made in America if you doubt the impact of support own country.

Maybe you should proof read your posts before calling someone ###ed. Also maybe try capitalization. If you're going to complain about a company at least make yourself look educated.
