Pioneer Electronics / Refusal to honor warranty

1 United States Review updated:

Beware of your PIONEER purchases. Even though you buy a serialized unit with a date of manufacture, you must prove the unit was sold by one of their limited distributors. Not only that, you must prove you did not purchase from an online site such as ebay or amazon, even if it DID come from an authorized distributor. Shame on PIONEER, last time I will spend money increasing their profits.

Proof of purchase I have. Because the paperwork has the ebay logo, it is invalid. Doesn't matter to PIONEER who the seller is. Authorized or not, you cannot have an amazom or ebay transaction and expect warranty service.

    This is from PIONEER:
    eBay Sellers
Pioneer does NOT authorize any of its dealers to sell new products on eBay. Pioneer's agreements with its dealers prohibit sales on eBay. Accordingly, Pioneer does not offer its limited manufacturer's warranty or rebates for products purchased from any dealers on eBay.

So it doesn't matter if you have letterhead or not from the seller. PIONEER places sales restrictions on its dealers that end up costing the consumer. This is merely price fixing in action. Understandable? Hardly.
