Philips Electronics - North America / Was advised by Philips customer service to throw DVD Recorder away!

Purchased a Philips DVD Recorder ( DVDR615 ) and it just failed permanently after 1 year and 24 days after the purchase date. Was advised by Philips customer service to throw it away! He did apologize and suggested that I purchase a manufacturer's extended warranty next time... good idea! He didn't specify that brand I should buy...I guess he figured it wouldn't be Philips.... Caveat emptor

At least he was honest and probably saved you money, time, and headaches. Think about it. For the cost of repairing the DVD player out of warranty, you can probably buy two or three more new ones.
