Petro Canada - double charging at the pump

This is a letter of complaint for what I believe to be a poorly operated and disrespectful gas station management servicing the public. I fueled today at the station Petro-Canada 2830 16th Avenue in Markham ontario. While preparing to fuel, I inserted Petro card then amex card, card was accepted and entered receipt required. Fueled up to $7. Aweaited receipt which never came out. I entered the kiosk which only had one employee. He said I needed to pay because my card was not good. I just picked up the new card from AMEX 30 minute prior. I said tha there was nothing wrong with my card, he said that I had not put the pump back properly, he checked and it was fine. Then said that my card was rejected (this in front of 10 other customers. Pretty humiliating. Then said that he needed the 70.00. I asked for a receipt saying that the machine had rejected my card which he could not do. I would not give him the 70.00 unless I had a receipt. Since this was going nowhere I called Amex who advised that the card had been approved on the charge. Then handed the phone to the employee. Still could not be resolved but they wanted to charge me twice. Be would call his manager I was told to stand aside while he waited on other customers. the entire issue took over 45 minutes. In the end, I spoke with Amex fraud division and they are monitoring this transaction. I have since checked with Amex and there was NOTHING wrong with my card nor did the machine at any time issue an instruction to see attendant or card was invalid. At no time was I treated with respect as an individual or a customer. Since the petroleum suppliers have had complete freedom to charge what they want any time they want has obviously created a climate of total disrespect. I had just moved my sales force from Sunoco to Petro Canada I thought my way to keep Canadian. That has now changed. I know there will never be a call or response to a 70.00 issue and I am not looking to profit from this in ANY WAY. My mission now is to make sure every Canadian is aware of these business practices in this economic climate.
