Penske Truck Rental service

Hello I am a new trucking company I, recently had a rental almost 2 months, and I've spend over $6k over te last month and a half. I turned in truck to get oil change, and paid balance. I have work tomorrow and email over the manager at penskee location in mcdonough. Now they are saying I have to pay 2500$ deposit plus 1 week rental, when this was never disclosed, or mentioned before, during, or after my previous rental. I am completely dissatisfied regarding this matter. I was told you guys specialize in new Business and would be a great partner to helping my new Business get up and running efficiently. I am going to go through what ever measure I need to, this is my livelihood and how I take care of my family.

The truck was extremely dangerous to drive as the front headlights were extremely dim and you could not see 2 inches in front of you. And the truck had to be driven home at night so it was almost Impossible to drive I truly do not even know how I made it home that night. I was having severe anxiety not thinking I would make it to my destination. I can not believe that I had to drive a truck in this condition. I wanted to try Penske instead of other competitors but it just was an awful experience for me. I feel that I should be compensated for as it was just an awful experience one that I will never forget. I can not thank you enough for taking the time to read my email.

Penske Truck Rental personal truck rental

On September 5, 2018, I made a reservation to lease a 26 ft. Box truck from Penske. (See Reservation # [protected]) anticipating moving from Littleton CO to Delta CO roughly five hours and 275 miles away). I received intermittent messages from Penske representatives throughout the month regarding my lease and I even submitted a credit card number to secure the lease. My reservation indicated my vehicle would be ready for pick up on 9/28/18 at 8 AM. On the evening of 9/27/18 around 5:30 p.m., I received a call from Sean @ Penske (303-628-7664) informing me my truck would not be available at the promised time and he did not give a reason. Sean said, " Maybe by noon", I could pick up the truck. Immediately, I called Dominic from Firefighter Family Movers who were scheduled to start at 9AM, and he said that would not work with their schedule. In addition, my wife and I were scheduled to close on our house sale at 11:30 a.m. on 9/28/18, and had reservations for a stay in Olathe, CO that evening. I spoke with several Penske reps that evening trying to explain the situation Penske put me in by not delivering the truck on time to no avail. I was told by Danielle @ Penske that Kevin Klacey ?, a "higher up" from Penske in the Denver area would call me at 7 a.m. the next morning. I never heard from him. I had no choice but to rent a truck from Enterprise Leasing to maintain my move schedule. Enterprise came through...Penske didn't. On 9/28/18, Dylan McCullough from Penske (303-628-7664) called me at 2 p.m. to inform me my truck was ready for pick up. Really?..six hours after it was promised? Dylan McCullough even had the audacity to accuse me of cancelling my reservation in an email message... not that Penske failed to deliver a truck on time! I have yet to receive an explanation why I didn't get my truck as promised. Penske failed on so many levels. Hey Penske...if you do the best you can and you still fail, your best is not good enough. In addition to a real explanation from Penske, I believe Penske owes me $217.03, which is the difference paid to Enterprise. Penske's billion dollar business can't afford the bill for the anxiety and stress they subjected me and and my family to during this move.

I rented a 26' truck from Penske. I picked up the truck loaded and went on my way. Three hours later the warning lights come on stating the "DEF" is low. DEF is the fluid that the exhaust system uses for emissions. So I pulled into a truck stop and for $19 per gallon I went to fill the tank. Well, the tank is full. I then searched the gages and sure enough there was one that said it was full. No refund on the DEF I bought. So I called Roadside assistance. They sent a tech out an hour later. He ran a system check, which took about an hour and 20 minutes and said it was ok now that he cleared the errors and that it was a faulty reading on the computer. So now that we have lost a day we resume driving the next day. after about three hours the lights come back on. I drive to the next truck stop and filled up with diesel fuel. I then was pulling out to park and the truck would barely run. So I called roadside asst. again. They sent out a tech. He cleared the lights and rebooted the ECM, (Electronic Control Module). Away we went again. This time it lasted about 5 hours. The warning lights that came on now was the engine light, The manual said it was a service soon at our next convenience notice. So I continued on our way. About 2 miles from our destination the truck started loosing power so I milked it and made it to my final destination. Called Roadside Asst. AGAIN. They came out after I unloaded it and towed it away. Now 4 days later I'm still waiting for them to get it analyzed. What this has to do with giving me some kind of restitution I don't know. But I'm guessing that it's a stall tactic. My guess is that they try to blame me for all the problems and say sorry you had problems and to please think of Penske next time we need to rent a truck. We will see!

Penske Truck Rental penske truck driver license #2461852

On Highway 35 Northbound between Forest Lake and North Branch, Minnesota: This driver was driving in the left lane the whole way, sometimes under the speed limit by 10 miles per hour, hugging the center lane and swerving over the center line several times making it dangerous to pass. When I finally decided to pass him, he did swerve over the centerline while I was in the righthand lane next to him, forcing me to pull part-way onto the shoulder.

Penske Truck Rental 16 ft high cube van

The front of the cube van leaks when it rains.
A box spring and mattress got soaked, a sofa got wet and a box of comforters got wet.
The mattress was so wet we could not move it into the apartment. Claims said it will be 4 or 5 days before someone contacts me and we need to keep the mattress. In the mean time we are sleeping on the floor.
I spent $1464 to rent this vehicle to move my daughter from MD to FLA and think I should get some form of refund for all the time I now need to spend in locating a new bed, cleaning the sofa, going to the laundry to wash the comforters, etc.

Penske Truck Rental I am complaining about a purchased unit

My name is Cedric Gray Jr. and I purchased unit599159 through eBay auction on May 12, 2018. I picked the unit up from Charlotte and drove it to Jonesboro, Ga. because two engine lights came on that was May 15. The unit been at that location ever since, I just want another unit so I can get to work. Can somebody please help me with this situation please

Hello Cedric Gray. I'm going through the same thing. I picked up my unit last Monday, drove in for 2 hrs and transmission light came on. Took it back to penske and it's been a nightmare since then..I just want to get back to wotk.. Have you had any luck? I keep getting the.."he's busy at this time, but I'll have him call you back" routine everyday and no call backs. I'm in Canada... Oh and my unit was 48k and it's fully paid for.. Yet I don't have anything to show for it. Have you gotten any help at all?

Hi Conrad, well I really don’t know where to start with this. It’s been almost three months since I paid for a unit and insurance on a unit not even on the road like $10, 000 lost on that cause I still don’t have a unit. I’m currently/frustratingly waiting for July 18, Penske is prepping another unit so we’ll see how that goes. Yeah I’ve been on the receiving end of that type of help but I didn’t stop there. Continuous calling every day more than three times a day from shop to corporate to customer service. Hopefully this next unit will make things right, I’m praying it do🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😞

Hello Cedric,

Like the saying goes, misery loves company. I also made the mistake of doing business with Penske. They have my money and I have a non functioning tractor. I am interested as to what the issue is with your unit. Mine is emissions related...the one box...verified by another shop. I am also in the Atlanta Ga area. The customer no service is slow to respond. My perception is that they stall to try and make us go away. Penske is unethical at best. Good luck. I am only about 6 weeks in my process. I feel your pain.

Penske Truck Rental truck rental

Rented with customer service a truck with lift gate. Had two items in a move that needed the lift gate. Baby grand piano and a very large cabinet. Ordered truck stated needed lift gate. Was told I was good to go and lift gate truck will be available so we didnt worry about it anymore till the move date of May 4, 2018. Get to location in Tallahassee southeast capital circle in FL to get truck . Was taken out to show truck and I realized it had a ramp. Told girl no I needed truck next to it with lift gate. She stated I needed cdl for it. I have cdl as im a over the road truck driver 15 yrs. We go in and Manager says no I have to have a commercial acct to use those trucks. Why was I not told this when I set it up? I thought we were set to go and it ended up being a moving nightmare due to Penske. Had I known sooner I could have checked elsewhere and made other arrangements. This move was absolutely horrid due to Penske and never ever will I rent from Penske again but I am also going to forward my experience across facebook and BBB. Your company caused my mom to almost have a heart attack as her piano is well over 100 yrs old and had to come down a sticker ramp because we had movers lined up already there was ZERO time to find another truck.. Penske should be ashamed!

Penske Truck Rental truck rental

I rented a van online to move over the weekend using Penske website. They took my credit card information and I received a confirmation email with the date, time and location to pick up (Saturday at 10am). When we got there, the rental office was closed and when I called them they said there was probably a glitch in the system because they don't work on weekends and that they couldn't do anything. As expected, every other rental place had nothing available and we were left with nothing to move our furniture. Move out date for me was that weekend and we didn't know anyone who had a truck that could help us. The response I got, someone will call you on Monday. Talk about terrible customer service.

it has been about 4 months since i started the deal of buying truck with you guys and of course this is not the first time, when i was starting the deal it was so smooth all the until i transferred the down payment over and over again there were no communication up util i picked my truck 20th of April 2018 i waited for title as agreed but i dint get until i called that when they told there were some error with title and had to be sent back at penske, i kept pushing the sales team letting them know my insurance will be due and i needed to put truck at work asap i tried to have the render move the first payment date but they declined the whole process has costed me an arm and a leg and i needed to speak with sales manager but no one could put me through

Penske Truck Rental truck rental

First rental from Penske will be my last. Specifically requested a 22' Foot Truck with a hydraulic lift gate for a one way drive from Arkansas to Illinois. Drove a rental car from Illinois to Arkansas to pick up truck in area of my purchase and deliver to Illinois. Upon arrival at Penske in Arkansas, I was immediately told that my truck would be a 26 footer (way too big for my needs) and of course the truck had no hydraulic lift. I was then told the hydraulic lift on the truck can only be for a local move and not for a one way move. Strange I said, since I specifically requested a hydraulic lift. No other trucks available, had to pay an additional $100.00 for a forklift operator to load my 11 each 600lbs safes. Now back in Illinois with the safe and have to figure out how to unload each down the walking ramp of a 26 foot truck. Penske was contacted and could not help unless I was willing to pay over 399.00 for a one day truck swap with hydraulic lift (no chance I'm paying that). Then was told that all phone calls are recorded so previous call when reservation was confirmed and the spokesperson telling me that the truck would have a hydraulic lift would available for review. Of course my phone conversations could not be located. Just an absolute nightmare experience. My truck sputtered along from Arkansas to Illinois as the truck speed just continued to drop to 40 MPH and back up to 65 mph as if the previous renter put regular gas in the diesel engine. The truck shook like the 89 San Fran earthquake. Good luck renting from these guys. 1/2 of 5 stars.
Now comes Penske to respond to my post. And would you believe they are questioning my integrity...really. Penske contacted me in respond to my post and had no intention to actually correct this situation. I called Penske this morning and explained my situation and they questioned my integrity then. I explained to them that I had made two previous calls regarding my reservation and the spokesperson confirmed my reservation to include there would be a hydraulic lift on the truck. I was told this morning by a spokesperson that Penske had no record of me calling there as all of their phone calls are recorded. I promised I had called, she told me she checked with a manager and they have no record of my call. I asked that she check with a second manager because I am positive that I called, she begrudgingly said she would check with a second manager and again I was placed on hold. She then returned and indicated the second manager confirmed there was no record of my call. Now Penske reached out to me this evening in response to my Facebook post and wouldn't you know it there is actually a record of one of my earlier calls (how is that possible?). You mean to tell me that I was given incorrect information from the earlier spokesperson and two managers? What, they were wrong this morning, no way... Now this evening I am being told that there is no other evidence of another call, really...I guess I will just take there word for it because they are always right...just like this morning. Long story short, they did absolutely nothing to help me resolve this. This is my situation, it is exactly how I recall the events, this is not fabricated information, and I am only posting this information to caution everyone to make sure you write down dates and names and even record your conversation with Penske in case you are later asked to prove what you were told. Make them put everything in writing, or better yet, just rent a truck from someone else. Thanks for reading this and I plan on posting this information with the BBB and any other social media outlets available to me. Heck of a way to treat a 22 year retired military veteran.Question my integrity and honesty.

We purchased a 2011 Volvo, Premium Package Truck and took delivery on 4/5/18. Unit # 598594

Purchased the extended warranty through Penske - NTP 1 year/100, 000 miles $1695

1. The truck is not operating (see attached estimate of multiple error codes).
2. Registration and filing of non-operation was never filed by Penske in the state of California - penalties are being applied.
3. Truck is not operable. Today the truck indicated it was going to Derate, light flashing...ATS menu, all codes okay, ran Regen (1 hour) then received message: Parked Regen, Conditions not Met
4. Checked ATS Status Menu again - temporary lock out listed
5. Called NTP - was told to take it to service center
6. Took to local service center per call to NTP - TEC Center Volvo/MAC in Fontana, Ca
7. Received request to approve additional time - see attached estimate from TEC Center
8. Called NTP to find out why not covered under warranty (Steve at NTP) said they do not have the VIN or any of our information saying we purchased an extended warranty from Penske.
9. I can not believe that this is the business practice that Penske operates under. I did not receive any warranty paperwork from my sales rep, no follow-up calls or any customer service.
10. This week is the first week I've been able to test the truck during the 15 day "Notice Period" (registration and titling still pending) because Penske Corporate did not file the proper California documentation when the registration was due December 2017. Penalties applied.
11. After testing truck operation for last 2 days, truck is not drivable. See attached request to approve estimate of additional diagnostic testing.
12. Truck is currently at TEC Center in Fontana for warranty repair, but unable to verify it's covered under any warranty through NTP.
**13. I request from Penske to deliver a "Premium Package" truck that can be operated during the first 15 days. If this truck is determined to be a "lemon" I would ask Penske to take it back within the 15 day "Notice Period" or work towards an amiable solution.

Will someone please help? Every day leads to more delays, loss of revenue, and has become a constant nightmare!

ASAP, please notify NTP that we purchased the Extended Warranty for this truck, fax necessary paperwork or do whatever needs to be done! If we need to take the truck to the Penske service center in Ontario, CA to repair truck and deliver it as a "Premium Package" truck, I can do that, but would ask that this truck be given HIGH PRIORITY due to the continued challenges/delays.

Penske Truck Rental service

First time I called from indaina I was quoted 1844 dollars I was going to go from here to palm springs area but I had to reschedule for the following month well I found out I have graves disease so my dad said I couldn't move there because there is Noway he can help so I called a friend and change my destination to bowie az. They told me I could get but it will take a week I also asked if I could get a smaller truck he said with the new destination and truck size its only a hundred dollars cheaper so I told them just to stay with the 26 foot truck. I get there its diesel the truck was dirty so I had to go to Indianapolis Indiana coming from Lafayette Indiana which wasted a whole day then they gave me a $400 discount and a clean truck cuz the truck I had was trash bugs all over it blankets I didnt ask for it looked like they had just dropped it off and they have it to me anyways they gave me an extra day too then I get to my destination the truck breaks down in front of the house so I made arrangements to put myself in a storage unit in Tucson and had to be ther before 5 the storage place had to be called back so that I could bring it the next morning by 11:00 since I had to return it to Tucson at 10:00 they send out a repair guy he says they can't fix it so they wanted to send out a tow truck that night while the storage places are all closed after 5 and I needed to buy the first one so then he makes arrangements with me to come the next day at 10 in the morning they call me told me they tried to call me I looked at my phone and told him he was lying they never tried to call me and he was telling me that they're late and they did try to call me and he goes and reads off my telephone number okay I check my phone while I'm on it there's no calls nothing so then driver shows up tells me he he didnt leave tuson til ten so now the driver shows up at 11:15 storage places open from 11 to 3. I get there at 2:15 the hottest part of the day in Arizona I hadn't eaten because I was waiting for the driver in the morning so I was having dizzy spells and almost passing out and the driver tells us that we're taking too long but he says he can't help us unload the truck so we were on our own couple hours past the driver again asks us how long I was going to take. I told him about an hour. it was so hot no water feeling signs of a heat stoke or something an I was pouring alot of water on me from my 5 gallon water jug I had to open cause I kepted getting yellow spots dizzy and threw up once I couldnt do the work my friend was mostly on his own. Now the tow company is getting restless ask again how long this time he says I'll help cause your taking too long he help shove everything left to the edge of the truck. Well one of the storage managers says she cant get her car out and could he move the truck over so people could get in and out driver got an attitude when he finish moving it over he drops the ramp onto stuff breaking my broom and dust pan set it landed on my vcr driver says its old anyway him an my friend had a few words I dont know if there was anything else in the way but we finished getting everything off of the truck and the tow truck drive split we call the tow company a let them know what happened. It would have been nice to have done all of this today in the morning I was told I could do this today but the tow truck driver said he wouldnt come back the next day.

Penske Truck Rental moving truck rentals with car carrier

I rented a 22 foot moving truck with a car carrier for my move from Denver Colorado to San Antonio Texas, It soon became quite stressful with 220 miles of Denver the gas gage said I was all ready at a 1/4 of tank of gas I pulled off to get gas right away as towns are far and few, only to find that it took only 17 gal which was way off from a 80 gal tank that I was told it should have gone further, or taken more to fill, but that is how it was the whole trip never really knew how much gas I really had.
That and the air conditioner was in and out some times we had cool air other times not so much, the radio sucked.
But the biggest disappointment to me and why I will never rent from them again, I paid for extra days just incise, but yet when I turned the car carrier in 3 days early, and the truck 2 days early I received no refund and the girl at Home Depot was not the friendliest or caring, I had a miserable trip in their truck and it was ah too bad. Never again will I rent from them.
In Denver I was behind a woman who returned hers early and she received a refund. So I thought I would get something for returning mine early. Very bad customer service

I had a great experience picking up the truck and car carrier, but It soon trued into a night mare I only drove 220 miles the gas gage said I had less then a 1/4 of a tank of gas pulled over as it was long periods of towns when I filled up it took 17 gallons not even close to what the gage said, I went another maybe 300 miles this time the dummy light came on said I was out of gas in a panic I started looking for a station only that it took 50 gallons not the 80 that I was told it should take, that is how the whole trip was never really knowing how much gas I really had, the air conditioner didn't always work and going threw New Mexico and Texas it was needed, then when turning the car carrier in 3 days early and the truck 2 days early after paying for the extra days I received no refund for the days that weren't used not even as a curtsy to the major pain in the butt the truck was, I will never use this company again.

Penske Truck Rental reservation not honored

On 11/13, I made reservation for 12 foot, one way truck rental two weeks prior to moving date, 11/25. I had already talked to U-Haul and Budget, but went with Penske because the agent said Penske guaranteed truck availability. I confirmed reservation 1 week prior to date and again 1 day prior to moving date. No changes were made in reservation during these three calls to the Penske Truck Reservation number. However, when we arrived at stated location, we were told that they didn't have a truck for us! They said we could drive 30 miles to another location to pick up a truck but we had to be there in 1 hour or the truck would be gone. We scrambled around and got another truck from another company, but it cost $200 more and our time and lots of hassle. Penske didn't honor their guarantee of truck availability at specified date and time and location.

Penske Truck Rental gasoline

We returned the Penske truck with a FULL TANK (at the pump, once full, it clicks off, statinng tank is full), and we looked at the inside of the tank where the gas is, and it WAS FULL! We could see the gasoline at the top! We were charged for 12 gallons of fuel x $8.00 equaling $96.00 because we were told the tank was not "full". This was ludicrous and a rip-off! DO NOT EVER RENT FROM PENSKE! We used Penske before, and this did not happen. We asked them to look inside the tank and they will see the gasoline at the top. They refused to go out and look. They are a big moneymaker, and they will charge for anything they can.

The added stress this added to our move, words cannot describe. I am and my wife are very un-happy with your service. My Rental truck number [protected]. I had reserve this truck with a gentlemen name Derick from Penske Davenport, Iowa 2403 research pkway, Davenport, Iowa. I would expect a refund or adjustment through the added stress and pain that we endure. I would like a prompt replied.

Penske Truck Rental used rental truck

On 1/29/2015 I bought a used rental truck from Penske Truck Leasing Co, vin 1GD6G4BG7A1900456 with 111, 289 miles on bill of sale number [protected].
I am an inventor and I spent the year since building a device inside the truck body. I did not do any maintenance on the truck as it had a fres DOT inspection certificate and the oil was brand new when purchased. I checked fluid levels and adjusted the tire pressure.
On 2/15/2016, with less than 3000 additional miles on the truck, I took it on its first road trip. The transmission died around mile 270 of this trip. The mechanic I took the truck to removed some very dirty motor oil from the transmission. Motor oil should never be put in a transmission and this was done at Penske prior to my buying the truck.
The oil in the transmission was the reason why the transmission failed and putting oli in the transmission was negligent of Penske. The repair cost was quoted at $4500 and it is not yet complete, and I have had to pay an additional $270 to stay at a hotel during the repair.
Penske washes their hands of this. Not their problem. Even though everyone knows that motor oil should never be put in a GM or Allison transmission.
I have a sample of the oil removed from the transmission ny the mechanic.

Penske Truck Rental messy too slow

Hello
its me again. I just need a update. Are you finished yet? How long will it take before Nation Funding gets the form back? I know the truck is ready for pick up. I cannot get a for hire tag to work the truck without that paper work Nation Funding will send me. It makes no sense to get the truck if I can't work it. Next weak I stand to lose more money. WHAT IS THE ISSUE HERE?

Penske Truck Rental claims

We rented a Penske rental truck to move from PA to AZ. We were told we would get a 26' truck but got a 22' and not everything in our house would fit. We had to spend an additional $500 for another trailer to pull behind our car. We ended up leaving a LOT of stuff with one of our neighbors. We couldn't wait for another larger truck to be sent to us because we had a deadline to close on our new home in AZ, so we took what we could. The second day on the road we encountered some rain and when we stopped for the night, our daughter and son-in-law (who were driving to truck) needed to get their luggage from the back. When they opened the doors, water came running out! They discovered a large hole at the corner seam at the top of the truck. Luckily we were near a Lowe's so they took the truck over their and patched it with Gorilla tape. They took photos before they patched it.

When we got to AZ we unloaded and there were some wet boxes and a mattress that was wet. Again, they took photos. We returned the truck to Penske and the girl that worked there took photos and a report and sent it immediately to claims. She told us her boss (the manager) would contact us the next day. We didn't hear from him in 2 days so we went back over and he said he didn't know anything about it. He took another report and told us to call an 800 number to talk to the lady in charge of claims. It took several calls and messages for the next 3 days to reach her. All she said was was we had to call another 800 number to have an adjuster come out and look at our stuff. By then, everything was dry! My husband called that number anyway and never got through to anyone. The phone just rang busy. No message service or anything. He finally gave up.

We don't plan on moving ever again but if we did we would NEVER use Penske.

Penske Truck Rental bad experience

I made it very clear of the location of pickup I wanted to pick up my truck at.time of making my reservations. After driving a day down to Florida we waited an hour for it to be our turn only to find out 30 minutes later that the truck was at a different location. When I finally got to the truck, the gentleman did not hook the car trailer up correct so when I started to drive my car up onto the trailer, it came away from the tow hitch and slammed into the back of the truck! Then I received every excuse as to why this occurred. Once I started towards my first location after having now lost 3 hours of loading time, the front end was bouncing so bad I had to stop and call roadside for 2 new steer tires! The truck ate fuel like I have never seen. Spent more on fuel than the entire cost of the rental.

Received an email about my rental experience so I filled it out asking to be contacted about my experience... Well I am shocked that the lady basically stated through my complaints that it was my fault!... "The truck was scheduled at the Combee Road site"...(not what I agreed too)... "Penske does connect the truck and trailer but does not assist the customer"...(then why did the trailer unhook and slam into the rental truck?)... "Penske pretrips all rentals before handing keys to customers"... (HA! Then why was the inside dirty and why did I have to take more time to get new tires and not back ones but FRONT tires! My 3 yr old had to ride in that! Thanks Penske for putting my son's life on those tires!)

But wait...Christy offered me $50 for all my troubles... never ever again Penske. And I will encourage every person I meet in this world to never rent from these people!
