Peak Fitness problem in cancellation of membership

Dear Peak Fitness team,

Good day to you, I already send cancellation of membership/ termination letter at counter Peak Fitness at Citta Mall . I send the letter in June but staff at counter said the cancellation only valid 1st of august because of cut of date (i don't know what he means) but until now they still deduct our money?! so ridiculous.
Please don't deduct our money due we already send you the cancellation of membership.

Peak Fitness payment

They swipe my card 2 times on 23/8/19 at morning once and night once.
When I called, they say will ask pic call back, the person call back, say they do it wrongly, but I say do it wrongly by swipe 2 times?
Then she say she ask her manager, then no response, till I called again, tell me that I have outstanding at December 2018, what a ridicules? And say is Rm 129, but swipe my card 2 times Rm 65.40=Rm 130.80? First time say swipe wrongly now say I have outstanding? I can't even believe this fitness to give my credit card, what the ridicules management.

Peak Fitness Peak Fitness, Sogo : Bad Services

This incident happen on 15th June 2016. We voice out our dissatisfaction to the management on cutting of classes. This is not the first time.
They just simply cut our class to give way to their Les mills class without being considerate to us as a members that like dancing class. We told them that they are welcome to add new classes but do not do it at our expense. As a members of the club we have our right to voice up. From the schedule also u can notice that everyday there are Les mills class being conducted still not satisfied. Using all dirty techniques like moving the class to late night and simply cut class just because the 7pm was a best time. If they want to promote the Les mills class they should do it without cancellation of our class and let the new class work its way up.
My issued is that they do not show respect to the members right and do as they like. The complaint letter was address to Dr. Shaun Alexander the Managing Partner (tel no : 03-[protected]) and was told to refer to Mr. Teranjit Singh( the area Business Manager) and the person who arrange and manage the fitness schedule was Albert contact no :[protected]. Where is our right? How can they just simply ignore us? Every one of us got our own preferences how can they force us to accept what they like? And Where is the fairness?

Peak Fitness Sogo customer service are bad. The staff give us wrong information and don't to take responsibility. I subscribe as a member for 3 month contract. So after 3 month in august. On 13-15th august i go to the counter around 7-7.30 pm to terminate my subscription as been told by our consultant Asrul earlier, anything have to inform before 15th. So i meet one girl at front desk, i ask to terminate my member then she take my member card and check, then she said that our package is Peak 3, so don't have to make cancellation, it will terminated automatically because its 3 month subscription and she also.confirmed with one guy at the counter.
But, on 5th Sept 2018 the fee deducted from my account, then they ask us to go the next day to meet operations manager, Arel. Unfotunately, the manager not there even they said the manager will available that day. So i just talk with her staff and the staff don't admit her wrong and i said just check the cctv on that date i'm coming or not.
The next day they call that our money will be refunded. So on 7th Sept we go to make cancellation, and the staff said our money will refund by cheque, and have to wait for 1 month. So we just wait
On 2nd october, again our money again deducted from our account. Call again to reconfirm, the staff and manager not treat us the right way, they said the cancellation not successful but they didn't update us anything. Is it our fault again? 1st wron information from staff. Then they said cancellation not successful. So my friend call and the manager, Arel said they will work for it, and we can get our refund within a week. But now almost 3 weeks no one update us. On 29th Oct today, Peak Fitness call my friend to inform that we get just 1 month refund due to cancellation request not successful. Again they didn't inform me, i have to call and ask again. Their customer service is bad. Their front desk staff and manager don't want to take responsibilty.

Peak Fitness not telling the whole truth

Here's the deal... I'm so sick and tired of the company I work for, as well as many other gym chains, being portrayed as sneaky, or manipulative, or having bad business practices. All because 99% of the people making allegations don't tell the whole truth about the incident, or completely mislead the reader because they don't want to admit that they didn't do what they were supposed to do to cancel their membership. Or, even worse, b/c they tried to cancel their membership because after signing a year contract they found that they weren't going as often as they should/would like, and now they feel like they should be able to nullify a legally binding agreement. And even worse, that because the gym chain that they joined does the correct business thing and holds that person accountable for what they signed; that all of a sudden that gym chain is crooked or scam artists. These type of people are the ones who scare the rest of Americans, who'd like to join a gym, to the point where now they have an excuse not to do something that would only benefit their health and lives.
I've worked for Peak for 6 years (happily), and have been in the business for 15, and I can say that we are taught nothing but ethical business practices. Our contracts, unlike a lot of other gyms, is made dummy proof by our owner, so that no one can claimed that they've had the wool pulled over their eyes. For example, many gyms have a yearly maintenance fee but they list it on the back of the agreement and often don't tell the customer about it (just let them find out the hard way); not us- it's listed on the front, and we have to get the initials of the customer to initial stating that it's been explained to them. 2nd example- many gyms "roll" the person's contract term (after their initial year is up) into a month to month. Many gyms explain this on the back of their agreements; not us- it's on the front and, once again, we have to get initials of the customer stating that it's been explained. I could go on with these examples, but won't bore you with all.
Now, is it possible for a employee/sales person to say to the customer, "hey, initial here and here, and sign here and here" without ever having explained these things? Yes, it's quite possible, and I'd bet that it happens more times than I'd like to see. But, guess what; that customer is a grown up and they have the option of saying, "hey, what am I signing here?" Also, they have 3 business days, by law and also on the front of our agreements, in which they can cancel and get a full refund (no questions asked) so if they don't take the time to read what they were just asked to sign, then who's the dummy? I think that most of us people with common sense know the answer to that question. Myself and my employees work our tails off to educate, motivate and service the heck out of our members, and it drives me nuts that people out there misconstrue details and facts to reflect favorably towards themselves. These people never take the blame for anything that they do wrong; it's always someone else's fault, and I think they should all grow up. Hey, save us gyms the bad rap and just buy yourself some equipment for your house that will be a great clothes hanger, b/c you'll never use it either and I'm sure the company who made it will take the blame for it.

Yes, I have plenty of typos in this thing (I found after submitting it), but it's late, after a 12 hour day, and I'm mad as heck due to these people and I'm typing as fast as I can so that I can get out of here and go home. Thanks for absorbing the info and disregarding the grammar mistakes.

If you have such "GREAT" business practices then why did your gym on Jonestown Rd in Winston Salem close without letting "YOUR” clients know? I personally don't think that's good business, and when I try to go cancel my contract after I’m told by your sales people that I have three months, not days, to check the gym out and see if I like it, and I can't, there's something wrong with that as well. And yes I did read my contract before I signed it. And guess what your sales rep didn't fill out the info on it properly and I still can't get out of it to go to a good gym and get away from you.

You have to understand that most people on this website are drunk at 2AM and rambling on about a 'bad experience' they had, probably months before they ever posted their "complaint". They want someone to make them feel justified, and will naturally leave out information to feel better about whatever may or may not have happened.

If you know you are doing your job and performing to your clients needs and wants, than stay the course and congratulations on helping the masses in [desperate] need of starting a healthy life style.

But remember, just because YOU are doing your job, and have happy clients, doesn't mean in Hicktown, Georgia; Jane Doe isn't ripping her clients off and slacking as an employee. All you can do is make sure YOUR clients are happy and getting what they paid for.

Peak Fitness unprofessional business ethics

Peak Fitness in Clemmons NC has been there only three months, already some of the equiptment needs reupholstering and some parts are actually missing? The radio is extremely loud and has been on the same loop for the three months. You can set your watch to the same songs day after day after day after day...! If you look at their mission statement online you find that they promise to give members a great workout atmosphere to help them achieve their fitness goals...TOTAL BS! They couldn't give a rats ### about anybody or anything! And belive me it shows! If you have fitness question to ask one of the members---good luck---! They just look at you with a stupid look on their face... Duh, I don't know. If you are thinking of joining a gym... keep looking. Maybe a Bowflex would be a better investment!

I have had a contract that specified that renewals would be $150/year for 14 years. Peak Fitness has honored this contract until this year. Now they want $250/year.

They want me to pay more, but they are providing less and less of an acceptable exercise experience. The club is filthy. A water fountain has been broken for over a year. The towel dispenser in the men's locker room has not been serviceable for weeks. Broken machines are not fixed in a timely manner. It is a pretty awful place.

Well I guess the original complaint stands seeing as how the Clemmons gym as well as other locals have gone out of business. Peak Fitness owners should be put in jail for the crap they have pulled. My membership expired and cancelled and they still managed to suck 4 months worth of dues from my account...I hope they all burn in hell and as far as their employee above standing up for them... I would like to hear back from he or she now...that the company has thrown their employees under the bus.

I've been working for Peak Fitness for 6 years, and I've been in the business for 15 years. I must say that the person making this complaint needs help, mentally. 1st of all, I work in the Charlotte market, and I've seen the Clemons club. Does this person expect upholstery to not tear after so much usage, or for equipment not to break? Wow, it would be a very nice world if bad things didn't happen, but guess what- when you have hundreds of people per day (which means 1000 plus per week) using machines, they tear up. I think it has something to do with science or something . As far as the help that this person receives on the floor, I can't fully speak for b/c I wasn't there at the time in question; but, I can say this- we are taught, by our owner and upper management team, to do all that we can to assist people while they are using our facilities. Now, if I went to Mcdonalds, and I had a employee not treat me well, would I blame the McDonalds corporation? No. But this person says that Peak is terrible b/c of their experience with an employee. Wow! That's pretty narrow minded. Did you even talk to the manager about it? I doubt it. Good luck finding a gym, matter a fact a company, that has perfect employees or that doesn't have equipment go down after continual usage and abuse.

Peak Fitness Ripoff/Thieves

OK people...here's the deal. I completley agree with you. Hope you have a moment to read all this. I joined Peak Fitness in NC when me and my husband moved there from TN. I signed a year contract. I joined on Jonestown road where b4 I signed I asked the Manager "Emily i believe" if they took the payments. I was lied to. She said they took out the payments. ( I had previously had an issue with canceling a membership in TN) I signed the agreement. Stupid. Not until i go to cancel (my hubby was being transferred to Gainesville, Ga) Did I even find out that I had to deal with ABC financial. Whatever. I call ABC ell them I am moving. There is no Peak Fitness nearby, and that I needed to cancel. They said I had to send proof that I had moved (i.e lease agreement/utility bill) I thought fair enough.Then I am told it will take between 60 to 90 days to cancel. WTF! But hey I am just trying to cancel. I agreed. The guy Jamal at ABC said I have to send a registered letter w/ proof. I said well I am at a fax machine Can I fax it. He said sure. He said if there was any issue that I would be contacted and told what to do next. I said okay thanks for your help. I faxed the lease /letter. Here comes June. I am doing bills and realize there are charges on my credit card ( I had recently paid off) for May and June. I call ABC. They tell me that they never received the info. I said well I am sorry that mistakes happen. What can WE do to ix it. I am told nothing! I sent the lease again clearly stating when I moved in the apartment. January of 08. This is August and I am STILL dealing with this. I even offered to pay the extra month left on my membership. (Wouldn't have been canceled till April, membership should have ended in May anyways) Now they say I owe for a month to month deal that I was NEVER informed about. I am refusing to pay that. I haven't lived near those gyms in almost a year. I say to myself.. If ABC won't help Surely the guys at Peak will. they Know me and Know that I have moved. WRONG. Took nearly two weeks to get ahold of this guy named Brent at Robinhood I believe. I Finally got ahold of him on day 14 of calling on the 5th call. WORTHLESS..refused to give me a corporate number. i found a number on the BBB site and called it. The lady there "paris" is actually very helpful. She has even told me to fax it to her personally and she will give it to someone there. I am having that faxed today, and I have also written an email to a lady named Nicole Miller. I also sent a registered letter stating all this I have told you and more with the proof of my move. ABC keeps telling me that it will go to collections. I told them I didn't care. If I ever needed credit I would take proof of everything I am saying and nobody would count it against me. I am hoping that I am taken to court. If you look up Peak fitness /abc financial you will find nothing but complaints and lawsuits! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!

Was told when I signed up that the gym was fine. Now I have no where to work out. I plan to file suit against Peak and its affiliates. One week later the gym closes without warning.

I foolishly believed their scam! On Feb 1, 2011 I bought a "FREE" order of their stuff for $29.99. Then when I phoned them to complain, I was told by "Melissa" to return the order and write five digits on the package and my refund would be returned. Never happen! Has anybody ever got a refund?

She was very nice. I was told the one in Clemmons would be staying open. Went home the next day in the mail I get a letter saying the one in Clemmons is closing the next day.
They closed the one on Jonestown and the one on Robinhood. The gym was crowded with people.
Why they couldn't stay open is beyond me. They had to be making money.

They told us Fitness 2000 would accept our memberships. If I had wanted to join Fitness 2000 I would have joined there. I do not wish to go go Fitness 2000 in the next town over. They should be put in jail.

I signed a year contract that was paid in full.

Peak Fitness Cancelation

I would like to file a complaint on the Fuquay-Varina Peak Fitness and the whole corporation. I was conned into a contract by the staff at this gym. I was told that i was paying for one year and getting a second year free and come to find out this was false. I also was never informed on the firefighter dicount after telling him many times i was a member. I was told that i was going to get a lower rate and was given a totally different one. f something is not done a law suit will be filled and justice will be served. I know to many people to be manipulated like this.

Peak Fitness Sixty day cancellation

Joined Peak Fitness on Robinhood Rd. in Winston Salem, NC in November 05 and after 6 months wanted to cancel, but could not according to the contract I had 24 months before I could cancel. Have not used facility for 18 months but had to continue to pay. Then after 24 months were up, once again tried to cancel and was informed of the fine print on the contract which states you must allow 60 notice for cancellation. So now a 24 month contract that was not used for 18 months has become a 26 month contract with 20 months of paying the facility for non use. Company (facility, corporate office as well as financial company handling the contract) were very inflexible and the employees at the gym itself on Robinhood Rd. in Winston Salem were very condescending and rude.

I signed a 2 year contract in late 2006. The Peak Fitness located on Robinhood Rd. was evicted in August of 2009. I was never contacted by Peak Fitness to discuss my pending memebership or informed that all locations in the Winston-Salem area had closed. One day I showed up at the gym and the doors were locked and the building was vacant. I contacted the billing company for Peak Fitness and was told that my monthyly draft would stop in a few billing cycles. Several months later my checking account was still being drafted. I again contacted the billing company was told the same thing. Each time I would contact them to discuss the issue I was transferred form person to person and was told that management was not available to speak with me. Emails and voice mails were NEVER returned. IT is now January of 2011 and I am still dealing with these jerks. I actually spoke with several employees of Allstate Financial yesterday and was told that they had no record of me EVER calling or emailing to cancel my membership. I advised that the felt as through as I was entitled to a refund for the months that I had been billed since Peak Fitness was evicted from the Robinhood Rd. location. I was told that they were cancelling my membership and that was all that could be done. I have since contacted the BBB, Fox 8 news as well as the Winston Salem Journal to let everyone know what a bunch of winners these people are. I suggest calling Fox 8 news if you are still having billing/cancellation issues with Peak Fitness. They may be interested in doing a follow-up story of this issue.

Peak Fitness is the worst buisness in the world, not jus gym in the world. I have unsucessfully tried to get out of a ontact with them for about a year and a half due to the run around they give in regards to written responses whish I did over the e-mail and there inability to update thier records. Resulting in them continuing to draft my account, not to mention the BS they said about 60 day cancelation notice policy. I Hate PEAK

Completely agree, my boyfriend and I have been trying to get out of this contract with them for almost 2 years now. We realized early on that it was not the gym for us at all. But unlike any other gym that I have ever used; they are scam artists. It is impossible to get out of the contract, even after it has expired. If you read the fine print on the back, you will see that it says if you do not notify them in writing in the 23rd month, then you will be automatically re-enrolled. At this point you then have to give 60 days notice of cancellation. I have yet to meet anyone who has ever been happy with that establishment, but when I do mention their name, people cringe. We have learned our lesson and will never ever sign a gym membership contract again.

I agree with another poster, that the YMCA is the best place (of course I used to work there as a personal trainer so I am biased) also in NC a good gym is Planet Fitness, they don't have exercise classes, but they are the nicest people in the world, cheap and you can absolutely cancel at any time and they are completely understanding and the environment is nice to work out in.

My advice is to start writing them well in advance of your 23rd month and send by certified mail, so you have proof that you sent them notification of your intent to cancel. The letter does not have to be fancy, you could find a template online probably, just make sure you use dates and clearly state your intent to cancel membership and state that they no longer have the right to automatically draft your account. PEAK FITNESS is the worst place in the world. I hope everyone that goes there figures this place out and they go bankrupt and lose everything. I hate them, and I hate their service. They are the worst people to deal with and their financial company is a joke and should be fired by PEAK! I HOPE THEY GO UNDER and everyone loses their jobs.

I totally agree.
I was fast talked into signing a contract, as was my girlfriend. We were even told by the employee that we were saving money by signing up for a year but that we could cancel if we wanted-he didn't tell us that we only had three days! We have been cheated, lied to and and it sounds like many others have as well. They make it almost impossible to get a hold of anyone who can help. They'll refer you to their financial company who plays stupid and refers you back to the manager who tells you to e-mail the website and on and on and on!

We need to stop these criminals, why aren't they out of business yet?

Here's the e-mail of someone who finally contacted me, who was rude and completely useless as far as helping or even offering an explaination, he's already had to have his name on the news for a similar offense by the company to the one that I have experienced-

I also tried to cancel after 14 months of service when I moved out of town and got the run around from their financial group. I sent an e-mail to the corporate office but didn't receive a reply. I feel that they were deceptive and then make it impossible to cancel. I've tried to find their home address and am finding it difficult. I'm filing with the BBB but even that is hard without their corporate information. If you have, please advise.
