It was a very well organized scam conducted by a group of some highly professional people in cyber crime.
They put a job opening on one of the recognized UK job portal “XING” from the very big oil and gas multi national company "TOTAL" on the name of "Mr. Philip Jordan" who is officially the head of careers and recruitment department of the company.
They reply through an email id which is "Human Resource Department, Total UK" Carrieer.[protected]@total.co.uk. (contact no.- +[protected]) They asked me first to fill an application form and send the scan copy. Then they asked to fill a form that they call as “Improvised Tentative Interview” form that is written format of interview. All these forms look very official with company monogram on it and very relevant questions.
After all this they finally gave me a job offer whose documents again look complete official. In that and in previous mail they said that even after having job offer you have to come to London for a face to face oral interview to check the validity of candidate. In this the applicant have to pay 33% of the expenses as part of showing commitment to join the company that will be reimbursed as soon as I reach London. They referred me to a travelling agency Peace alliance tours and travels with website www.peace-alliance.com and talk to “Mr. Raymond” (contact no.- +[protected]) to arrange all travelling requirements. There they have taken 1489 pounds (33% amount) and other scanned documents.
After that they asked me to fill an “Anti terrorist application form” for which I have to submit 4000 pounds which is also refundable when I reach London. There I realized that I am in scam. They were still in conversation with me both on mail and contact nos. and assuring me the things will be fine. After my lot of suspicion they put a different story and assuring me that people dealing with me on travelling agency were fraud and so called “Mr. Philip Jordan” will now try catch hold of them and situation is under control. Somehow I was then able to find official contact nos. of company and after contacting them got confirmed of being in scam but I have lost around 1500 pounds in all this.
I have all the documents, mails, contact nos., names that they used and will produce as per requirement in the investigation.
This was a very planned scam executed by some professional scammers and things are done so fast and professionally that it was difficult to catch them initially and you just give benefit of doubt to them with such a lucrative offer and professional way of dealing and all relevant documents.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I received one too representing such as they were from EXXON Mobil, UK.
I read documents (invitation letter, job descriptions and travel arrangement process)
Documents were prepared on papers carrying EXXON Mobile monograms.
As I examine documents I found some inconsistencies:
There were font style and size differences in the same document doubting me.
Somewhere in the document sentence was broken and continuing another paragraph - one company such such as EXXON do not make such typing mistakes
They were asking me first contact with travel agency and then inform them indicating they would pay expenses only if I arrange this travel through directed travel agency and they would pay when I arrive London if travel agency arranged to do so.
I also doubted from the name of the name of the agency "City Breaks..." and its domain name on the e-mail was @outlook.com. Such a big global company never work with such a low grade one where its domain was ootlook.com
Then I checked the domain name at the original e-mail they sent me first. It was totally unrelated one from EXXON Mobil UK. I had to conduct this control at the very beginning. I did decided not no read documents more and proceed.

The scam goes on. Please, beware of Linkedin and Total. What makes the situation worse is Total's inactivity/negligence to frauds on behalf of company. Such a humangous and powerful organization must possess resources to ceace Fraud campaigns started in 2011 and going on with slight alterations (name, travel agents, contacts changing). The scheme is standard but on official site Total doesn't pay enough attention to informing of potential candidates extensively.

First I didn't believe, but later I checked online to get acquianted about the company. For some time I've been sending my cv's to different companies, so I wasn't quiet sure if I've sent them or not. I replied them, and in responce I got the very same email that most of you wrote above. to deposite some amount of money. around 900 pounds. That was the moment I understanded it was a scam. So i googled about this emails and scams and got here.
I'm glad I didn't make a mistake.

Got the same email from a Philippe Webb head of HR. Someone should notify Total that they should take legal actions against the fraudulent individuals who steal money on thd back of their reputation. Poor English, lots of spelling mistakes, discrepancies in the proposal text and general weirdness in the fact someone would offer you a lucrative job simply based on a cv ticked me off, but i see a lot of unsuspecting applicants fell for it.
Also, i applied for a job in Kazakhstan, why the hell would it say location UK and Turkey in the TOR? Sloppy job all together.

got same mail from Total today signed by Dr. Philippe Webb PhD.
I thought - how such a big company invites people from other countries for interview to London based just on a CV.
Means - they have so many projects which they are ready to give to recently hired people.
And proposing such a "sweet" job as a project manager. Not requesting any other confirmations of projects completed etc.
Their travel consultant's web site www.fasttravelconsultant.com also look quite suspicious - rather simple web design.
So I think - better not to go to farther contacts with them

I am from Turkey and they did me the same. Our guys are again Stacy Lloyd from TOTAL and Mr. Andrew Martinez from Fast Emperor Travels Consultant.
I was first suspected when they asked for prepayment. Anyway I wrote them and said it is very hard for me to issue a VISA in such short time. Their answer was interesting "we will take care of it, don't worry!".
Still I continued, applied for a new passport. Today I had my passport and checked their mails. I was really very uncomfortable with the process. I googled Emperor Travels Consultant. Nothing!
After a deeper search I am here now! Thanks a lot my friends. I will inform Total Turkey about the situation. Total somehow should take care of it.
Anyway, it is unhappy to think how much they have earned from this business.

Its really disgusting how these people try to dupe innocent people. They should be really ashamed of themselves. Received a similar mail from them. Was one step away from getting convinced by they asked me 710 pounds which was way too much from my travel. Thankfully googled the travel agency and came across this website. This is the mail they sent me...:-

Also, the attachments were not well formatted for a big company and that where in my mind I realized that it might be a scam. I have googled the email address and I found your comments

Yesterday I got the same mail like the latest one posted here. Then I googled about Dr.M.A.Harmond. I came across here. I did not want anyone to get laid. So I called London PD and reported that crime with all evidences. So I feel confident know, because the scamers will be arrested and stay in jail. Screw them. it is a total scam. first i thought it was OK, but when i received the above money transfer request, i have been suspicious as, if it is for hotel, and travel epenses, this you can manage by your own, also visa issuance over seas requires your presence without any other party's help. i did google the travel agency name, and i found you, and all this content. thank you all. i travel alot, so i know how to make all required travel arrangements. those naive scammers, should be penalized for this illegal acts.

Just yesterday I have received this kind of invitation in the name of Total Oil and Gas, UK. Their so-called travelling consultat Airfex required over 1000€ at the first step. Thank you for submiting such a warning information.
