Hello. I am a member of The Calabash (N.C.) Elks. For many years after doing a story for Patch Bensalem (Pa.), I learned that the local SPCA's were in need of empty/used prescription bottles. They have to pay for them out of their own funds and most animals that come to the shelters, need prescription bottles. That started my quest to collect all of mine, along with neighbors' bottles and since then, have been doing this in Pa., many locations in Florida and now both North and South Carolina.
I approached my local lodge and asked permission to obtain bottles from our many elderly members. They embraced this from day 1.
I recently collected 3 trash can full of bottles and they were donated to the N. Myrtle Beach SPCA. I reached out to Karenna and asked if she would do a short story on this topic, really because she can reach out to the residents of the area and let them know how they can help. Also every day, Karenna does a fantastic job highlighting the animals that are up for adoption, etc.. So to me, I thought this was a no-brainer, but to my surprise I have had no contact or feedback from her. I will attach my e-mails to her, but what really upsets me is the fact that she will not contact me in any way as to why this cannot be printed. Maybe she will answer to her bosses.

My humble opinion of Patch.com is they lack journalism ethics and integrity. Patch is back, but it is destined to fail again. Patch has been the recipient of numerous complaints at the Better Business Bureau and maintains an F rating by the consumer protection organization. In late 2016, Patch and Hale Global were sued for unlawfully accessing and publishing information from internal police documents, publishing false and libelous statements, provoking hatred, religious discrimination, anti-Semitism, carelessly endangering alleged witnesses, and revealing alleged witness names.
