Pat O'Brien Chevrolet / Bad service

Contact information:

Purchased a GM Certified 2005 Pontiac G6 from Pat O'Brien Chevrolet, home of the Upfront Guarantee. Was told multiple promises by sales that service never followed through on. Sales manager Cliff Weber is now stating that his sales department never stated the points of contention. Sales stated that I could subscribe to On Star and that it was working. Months later after the sale, GM stated On Star will not work without a full year subscription and a nominal fee to upgrade the equipment to digital. If the promised device was on the vehicle, a monthly subscription and no fee would be required. Second point of contention, all 4 tires would new refilling throughout the subsequent months. This was causing the car to pull left. The dealer fixed 1 tire for which we paid. They then did a front end alignment. The car still pulled left. After the dealer failed to provide on their Upfront Guarantee, the car was taken to a tire specialist shop. One new rim and tire, 4 new stems, and grinding on all 4 tires were required and performed (even the tire the dealer was paid to fix). Went to the Better Business Bureau stating my objections and requesting a copy of the 117 Point GM Certified. After subsequent explanations, the dealer stopped working with the Better Business Bureau and never provided me the 117 point inspection copy. Per a copy of the inspection list, http://www.gmcertified.com/certified/whatis/index.jsp?deep=inspection#view_full the dealer is required to check the tires and On Star. I believe the dealer never performed the inspection. If they had, they would have found the issues with the On Star and the tires and corrected them prior to sale.

    @Dan,

    Thank you for visiting Pat O'Brien Chevrolet in Willoughby Hills. We would like to clarify a few things. The GM Certified 117 Point Inspection means to your vehicle underwent a rigorous 117-Point inspection process conducted by GM-trained technicians. Each inspection is required to adhere to strict, factory-set standards to ensure that every vehicle's engine, chassis and body is in excellent condition.

    The GM Certified website explains each of the 117 things that we check on the vehicle. Upon viewing the GM Certified website you are able to view that #57 & #58 deal with the tires. I have listed them below:

    #57 TIRES (TREAD DEPTH, TYPE, SIZE, MATCHING BRAND, NO PLUGS, PSI)
    #58 WHEELS/LUG NUT TORQUE/TIRE PSI (OEM, MATCHING BRAND/TYPE)

    Likewise, #22 ONSTAR (OPERATIONAL) is included in the list as well. During 2008, OnStar made a digital transition eliminating Analog-Only equipment from receiving a subscription. This was due to the fact that cellular carriers decided they would no longer support the analog network. Depending upon your vehicle, you would have equipment that was either Analog-Only, Analog/Digital-Ready, or Dual-Mode (Analog/Digital). It seems as if when the vehicle was processed through our Service Dept where we checked your OnStar, to be placed on our lot, it must pass all of our 117 checks. You probably purchased the vehicle near the time that transition had taken place.

    During your delivery process, we require our salespeople to press the "Blue Button" to guide you in the process of how OnStar works. At the time an operator would come on to let you know it is working properly. If at any time a salesperson or manager makes a promise before the sell, we always will put that promise in writing.

    We utilize a form that we appropriately title, "We Owe". We will provide you with a copy, as well as keep a copy for our records (we also have you sign off on it, agreeing this is all that we've agreed that we owe), this ensures that there is no confusion on what we do still owe you at a later date. If at the time of your purchase we owe you nothing at all, we will note that on the "We Owe" form and still have you sign off on it, agreeing that we haven't agreed upon any other plan.

    We invite everyone reading this to search the Better Business Bureau's website for Pat O'Brien Chevrolet East aka Patrick O'Brien Jr. Chevrolet Inc. to find that the Better Business Bureau gives us a rating of A.

    Thank you for your review.

    They lied to get us in the door, and they do not have up front pricing. When asked to talk to Pat O'Brien, they told us we are not allowed.

    Ya know 3 months ago, my wife and I purchased a vehicle from these guy's. I tell you what, it was one of the best experiences we have ever had, buying a car. The whole team is very energetic and knowledgeable, they covered many options for financing and purchasing, I think maybe you overlooked something but then again I wasn't there. anyhow Kudos to all of you at Pat O'Brien Chevrolet
