Paraco Gas - Service

On September 20, 2023, a Paraco technician from Brewster, NY, serviced a gas fireplace for cleaning/service and a pilot light not staying lit for the new owner. I purchased the house/property shortly after. Tried the fireplace and noticed a propane leak when the fireplace was shut off. Paraco, Brewster, NY, was contacted on November 13, 2023, regarding a...

Paraco Gas Maintenance service

June 13th a Paraco service rep converted my gas stove to propane, there were issues with gas line leaks. So now ,I was told that I cannot get another service person until June 19th. I'm going to the hospital on that day.

The next available time I can get for a field service person to finish the job is July 5th, meanwhile I cannot cook or take a shower and I'm a 79 year old man. What is the problem with Paraco field service people. My electric company never leave without service for more than 3 to 4 days, ATT is never more than one day ,my cable is never more than four hours. And all of them offer credit for lack of service.

Why is Paraco having problems with field service personnel. Why must I be inconvenienced because of their problem. I've been threatened by Paraco because I didn't pay my balance when they requested it and it's not because I was in the arrears.

Paraco Gas Paraco propane tank

Bought a faultyParaco propane take frm a shell station. Shell station refused to swap it out. I'm trying to reach someone at this company with zero luck.. I have a blue rhino tank hooked up with no issues. I'd like my money back or at least be able to swap the tank. You can see the rubber grommet inside the nozzle is dry rotted cracked. Beyond ridiculous 4th time it's happened

Desired outcome: New tank or full refund

Paraco Gas paraco propane

Had Paraco for a number of years until I found out about other companies that offered tanks without rental fees and a much lower price per unit. I switched to another company, called Paraco to cancel, then a few more times to pick up their tank. 2 years later they picked it up without notifying us then sent us a bill for near $150 calling it a restocking fee. I would never use them again, and am telling everyone I know how outrageous their charges are.

Paraco Gas propane service

I agree with all the previous reviews. This is the worst company I can remember having dealt with in the last 25 years or so. Just awful. They let my tank run dry while I was away last winter, nearly destroying a building foundation that had radiant circulating hot water heating the concrete slab and the building. They came for an annual tune-up last fall, and decided to improve my propane heating stove. They completely destroyed it, taking seven appointments (3 of which they never showed up for) to eventually get it back to operational; but even then we spent the whole winter with a stove that, when the burners came on, they came on with a concussive blast that rattled the windows. It cost me $4500 to replace that stove this summer.

So I fired them. They were told to come pick up their tanks after August 31. I'm still waiting. Well, to be fair i'm waiting on 2 of the 3 tanks to be picked up. They apparently came and pick one up when I wasn't here, then billed me for equipment they purportedly owned. They were supposed to drain the tank and credit me for propane I hadn't used--not bill me for more money.

So I made an appointment for Oct. 9--after I had to be very rude to their representative to get any appointment at all--to have them pick up the other two tanks. They of course never showed, never contacted me why not. I'm now considering having my new propane company drain the tanks, and then I will sell them for scrap metal. I have had enough. I have many other complaints, but this is only what has happened in the last year. This used to be a great little mom-and-pop company named Kosco, with people who worked hard and cared. Then a big company styling itself Paraco acquired them and the results were exactly what happens everytime large corporations take over productive small businesses.

You have been warned. Go through everyone of the other 15 or so propane suppliers if you need propane in the Woodstock area. If you simply cannot find anybody else, then you need to convert to a wood stove and cooking over your fireplace.

Paraco Gas service

Spoke to the regional manager of the area to set up an appointment to have my new propane oven converted and installed. She gave me a week past the delivery of my oven, and said the service rep will be there between 11 am and 1 pm. I gave her my cell number and he was to call when he was on his way. Since I work full time my aunt volunteered to stay at the house - she arrived at 10:30 am at 2:00 I called Paraco Gas to find out where the service person was and the regional manager said very nonchalantly oh he showed up at 9:30 and you weren't home! NO KIDDING! since the appointment was between 11 am and 1 pm NOT 9:30...now I have to wait another 2 days and now I have to take off from work to wait. This company service is a joke! I'm now looking around for a company to provide propane with actual customer service experience!

Paraco Gas propane gas

We have had propane tanks since we bought the house in 1998. They are used to operate the dryer and the downstairs stove. We have used Amerigas with no problem until two years ago.Paraco bought them out and suddenly they were questioning the position of my tanks for "safety reasons". In 2014, they sent two service men out and they moved the tanks a little. Then they cut the line to my downstairs stove, for safety reason. I never used the stove so it was not really a probem. I recently ran out of propane. They would not put me on automatic because of my credit score, I paid for the propane and waited for it to come. This was on Monday, May 30, 2016. By Friday, no one had come to deliver.I called and was told that they would not deliver because there were two window air conditioners in the windows and they were too close to the tanks. These same units have been in the windows every summer since we moved into the home.I had just paid a handy man to put the units in. My daughters and I struggled to take the units out, injuring ourselves in the process. A man came to deliver and told me to put the air conditioners back in and that it wasn't a problem. I complained to Joe Pierce and Eva Loicana. Both stated that a "survey" needed to be done. A man came out from Paraco and stated that the window units have to be removed. I am disabled and have asthma. We need the units in... these people are ridiculous and would do anything to get more money. They make stuff up.

Paraco Gas delivery service

1/23/16 Inv#880911 The Bayshore Office of Paraco Gas is deplorable. I ran out of cooking gas on the night of the blizzard. The bottled gas for cooking as well as a 100lb tank for heating are on automatic delivery. On Mon I called for a delivery and was told make sure to clear a path to tank. Will deliver on Tues.
Path shoveled. Tues came and went. Called again. Again was told to clear a path and would deliver Wed. Wed. at 4:00pm a truck finally showed up with a delivery. Talking to the driver, I learned my H tank had not had a delivery since Nov 2014. Paraco had delivered gas at least 4 times during the year to the 100lb tank.I also learned this driver had been in the area and asked the delivery supervisor if he could stop and check the tank and if necessary make a delivery, he was told "no", there was plenty(in the tank). Never even an apology from this group but they fall over themselves sending you doubles and triples of the same bill. What a pathetic company.

Paraco Gas awful customer service

Given that I am new to the fuel of Propane gas and delivery, Paraco got to be the worst of them all. We closed on out new place Nov 10th, just before the heating season. I opened my account with Paraco the day the closing date was set, paid my first bill within days and then waited. I called and called and waited until Dec 12 until they finally they sent someone out for the safety inspection, but still no delivery. The inspector was very nice and competent, and told me that they were seriously short staffed, but 6 weeks in the cold season? It was supposed to take only a few days after the inspection for the first delivery, but by the 19th there was still no sign of any delivery, so I kept calling, increasingly loosing my cool on the phone. They promised delivery for the next day, Saturday the 20th. When we arrived at the house on the 23rd late evening we found the gas tank to be completely empty. After a very cold night I called yet again first thing in the morning, and all the operator would do is e-mail the delivery department (to which I never received a response) I left a voice mail with the person who had promised me the Dec 20th delivery, but she never returned my call. After about an hour on the phone, and short of driving to the nearest delivery center to chain myself to a delivery truck, I finally talked to someone in deliveries, who did call me back and promised (yet again) delivery for the same day, christmas eve! In fact I received my first delivery on Dec 24th at 2:15 pm! What a joyous moment. The driver also was able to clear the mystery of the Saturday delivery: He had delivered it to the house of the former owner just across the street, called dispatch when he found it NOT empty, but they never called back - so he left. Paraco still charred me $50.- for the delivery to the wrong place. I guess if you order it, you have to pay for it regardless whose tank it ends up in! I love our new place, but signing up with Paraco was the WORST mistake!

Paraco Gas horrible service

This company is horrible. We ran out of gas in the middle of the winter and it took them four days to come out. Not only that but since our tanks were empty we needed to be home when they came to fill the tanks and we were promised a phone call. They did not call when they delivered and we came home to a freezing house. We called them and asked them to come out, again, and they didn't come until 10pm. Not only that but they charged us $65 dollars for an "emergency fee." We finally switched companies three weeks later and found out that Paraco was actually charging a dollar more than any other company around. The new company came out right away and switched the tanks and called Paraco to come pick up their tanks. Many phone calls were made and many conversations with different people and different managers (seemed like they had new employees every time we called) Two months later the tanks are still sitting in my front law. Finally fed up I contacted the Attorney General and Paraco finally moved their ### and got their tanks. When they picked up the tanks they said the tanks were only at 15% each. ###! we only had the tanks hooked up for three weeks and they were full. How can you use three weeks of propane and only have 15% left? They are ripping people off. They should be put out of business. The better business bureau should investigate this company and shut them down.

Watching a house for the neighbor who's in the hospital. After a few days without power the generator ran out of propane. We got power back so it wasn't an issue. I had her son call for propane, they came the next day or so which was 4/17/18. I saw the driver making the delivery and walked over to get the receipt 97.4 gals@ $6.34 a gal that's more than twice the going rate. I advised her son to contact Putnam County Consumer Affairs, the NYS Attorney General as well as the BBB.

Paraco Gas terrible service

Propane companies are notorious for dubious service, lack of price transparency and general overall unreliability. We thought we'd avoided those issues when we selected Paraco as our propane provider, but after hurricane Sandy, it appears that they've set an entirely new low bar from a service perspective.

Like many, we lost power during the storm. Our generator ran for 5 days straight before we shut it down to conserve fuel. We called Paraco when the tank was at 45% and were told a delivery would take 4 days. Understandably, many propane companies were left scrambling after the storm. Roads were blocked, supplies were short and thousands of homes without power created an unprecedented demand, so it was understandable that deliveries would run a few days behind. 4 days later...nothing. No phone call, no update, no nothing. So we called again, looking for nothing more than an estimate of when we might expect a delivery. Lots of lip service and excuses. A promise that we had been ticketed for delivery, but no estimate of when the delivery might occur. Now, a second storm loomed. Would we get fuel before the storm? Can't tell you. Can you tell me why we haven't had a delivery yet? No. What can you tell us? We'll try to get to you when we can. Gee, thanks.

One nor'easter, and two days later, still nothing. More phone calls, More perplexed customer service reps scratching their heads not being able to explain why we'd had no delivery. More lip service.

In the meantime, neighbors who have Gault and Hocon (who is notorious for having the WORST customer service in the history of service...worse even than Comcast) received deliveries.

It's understandable that in such a situation as the Northeast experienced that refills will take some time. But it's absolutely inexcusable that after more than a week these incompetent boobs can't even give a reasonable estimate of a delivery schedule or explain why they're having problems. Customers can deal with a lot of things if you just tell them what to expect. These dullards just shrug and tell you they can't understand why you haven't received a delivery yet.

Simply put, they're nice people, but they are awful, awful, awful at providing quality service. Words can barely express how badly they suck. Incompetent boobs. I would recommend you call Hocon or Gault. They're perhaps every bit as aggravating, but at least they'll deliver the product.

Paraco Gas service is absolutely horrendous. We had a generator installed 6 months prior to Hurricane Sandy. Paraco installed the propane tanks and the install bill included the tanks filled.
Hurricane Sandy came, we lost power immediately, our new generator kicked on...and...8 hours later we ran out of propane (the system is supposed to run 5 days on the full tanks).

Unbeknownst to us, PARACO HAD NEVER FILLED THE TANKS! We called them immediately...we kept calling them...it took them 3 days to get out and fill our tanks-you would have thought they would make us a priority since they had already screwed up. They billed us at $6.29 gallon. We thought that was high but had nothing to compare it to, and we were desperate. We immediately rescheduled a refill for 4 days later, which they did come (power came on shortly after the 2nd delivery-yay!).

The 2nd bill was $3.10 a gallon. Wait a minute, how did the price go from $6.29 a gallon to $3.10 a gallon in 4 days. I called them and they adjusted the price. But what if I had not gotten the 2nd delivery with the lower price. I would've gone ahead and paid the first bill at the higher price.

You can bet, Paraco is history with us--bad history!

Paraco Gas tank pick-up

On Dec. 22, 2011 I called our Paraco local office to let them know that I had switched companies because of their ridiculous high price, and told them to please send a truck to pick up their tank. As of March 21, 2012 they still have not sent anyone to pick up. I explained that I was not paying for the last 42 gallon delivery because I was returning nearly 100 gal. therefore, they owed me money.. I keep getting bills and now have started to receive phone calls concerning my "past due" balance. I have e-mailed the corporate office, and made numerous calls to the local offices.. the tank still sits in my backyard. I have never seen such a poorly run company in my life. I wouldn't recommend Paraco to my worst enemy...

Bad Bad Bad
As a costumer of the previous gas co. Since 1981 In Mill City, Lake winola, Pa.18625. I also asked to have our tank removed 8/20/13. One year later they call and asked if it was pick up yet. The next day it was removed. I then reserved a restocking bill for $95.00. There is no way in hell I will ever pay that bill. I sent them a bill for 1 year storage $1, 035.00, which me luck. I plan to contact the Attorney General Bureau of consumer Protection, The Better Business Bureau. I also plan to contact several Consumer Protection Attorneys in an effort to bring a joint action suite on behalf of all who have received such a charge also asking the court for refunds and punitive damages of some 20 Million U.S. Dollars. As a consumer Advocate myself I can not stand by and let this type of consumer abuse continue. I encourage all who have been abused by this Company to turn up the heat and fight these unfair practises.

I listed my credits and deducted what I owed! anyone who has this problem should do this! when I told them I was going to do this I was told well take that up with someone else! so I am, If I am not paid in 15 days I will go to small claims court! they wanted to charge me $75 to remove the tank! well take it off your bill! Rude service! very high prices!

Paraco Gas horrible customer service

I used to deal with a local mom & pop service for my propane heating called "Dependable". Sadly they went out of business and were swallowed up by Paraco Gas. The women in the Paraco Saugerties office (and they are all women) are some of the coldest, nastiest and in some cases the most sadistic people I have ever come across in all my life. I am disabled becasue of that am almost always struggling to make ends meet. Because of this I depend on the HEAP home heating federal grant to pay some of my winter heating bills. This year the grant came late (11/16 as opposed to 11/1) because of cut backs which means my propane tanks were very low and had not been filled since the previous March. When my tanks get below 15% (10% being empty) my absentee landlady told me I would have to shut off the heat. Because if the tanks run dry it would damage my furnace somehow and need to be reset and I would be responsible for any costs. By the week of Thanksgiving I had to shut off the heat.

Because of the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend I could not get a delivery. I called first thing monday morning and was told I the earliest I could get a delivery was on Wednesday 11/30. Emergency or not. This would mean two more days without
heat but what could I do? Wednsday rolled around and by 2pm there was still no delivery. I called the office and was told by some very ice cold woman that they would be there friday! I asked why then I was told wednsday? She told me they had the right to change delivery dates and routes when they pleased! I was speechless. She didn't apologize or sympathize or anything. She just acted like it was no big deal! When I asked why no one called to tell they wouldn't be coming I got silence. She told me to just keep my electrical space heater running. Again, I couldn't believe I was talking to another human being yet alone a person in customer service talking to a customer. Her message was basically 'drop dead'!

Enraged, I called the corporate headquarters and left a message with the regional managers voice mail. He called back within 45 minutes and was actually very nice. He apologized and said a truck was on its way and should be to my home within minutes. Sure enough there it was with my fuel. Which proves the women in Saugerties lied AGAIN to me when they said there was no truck in my area. To add insult to injury, when I got home later that day after grocery shopping there was a message on my machine. It was some woman from Paraco Saugerties named Bernadette who must have been so angry because I went over her head she actually called to harass me under the guise of "being concerned"! She said "I am just calling to confirm the truck got there. It seems he delivered 120 gallons. (if she knows how many gallons I got she knows he came right?). "You WERENT OUT OF FUEL like you suggested. I suggest you look into that next time if you are not getting any heat." The absolute stones on this woman is something to behold. She couldn't let it go. I am not even going to bother to call and explain to her that in my case, for all intents and purposes an almost empty tank is an empty tank for me. After all, who is going to pay my landlady for a busted furnace? Bernadette? There is really something wrong with the Paraco in Saugerties. They should remember that in these days they should be on their hands and knees everyday thanking God they have a steady job. But instead they act like they are doing you a giant favor by answering the phone and doing their job. Stay away from them if at all possible. But since they have a small monopoly up here that might be difficult.

Follow up. Today is 12/30/2011. I woke up this morning to the sound of someone pumping fuel into my propana tanks. I rushed outside and told the delivery man to stop pumping fuel as I DID NOT ORDER A DELIVERY! I still have two tanks half filled. And if they bothered to look at my account they would see I only have about $75 in credit left! I have told the Saugerties office numerous times not to deliver fuel to me unless I call for a delivery, yet there he was and this is not the first time I have gotten unwanted deliveries. If I had not been there to stop him I would have gotten a bill for at least $300 which I simply could not pay! A bill which they would harass the Hell out me for and wind up putting locks on my tank for non-payment in very quick fashion. If I have the money this Spring I will be dumping Paraco post haste as their office seems to be run at best by people who are lazy and simply do not care about their jobs or at worst are just plain IQ challenged.

They can't answer phones properly even when you want to buy what they are selling. I went elsewhere.

I finally had enough of paracos bad and very expensive service and poor customer service and finally changed companies. I paid my final bill and they made an appointment to pick up old tank. They still owe me for what is left in tank. Sorry i paid. Never picked up my tank and when I called them they said they had an emergency and they usually have one every day and they would try to pick it up by end of week! I don't think they will ever pick it up and they have my money. Awful company.

Paraco Gas poor service

I received a gas delivery in early December. I didn't receive a bill. I emailed the company and requested a bill-- no response. I called on the 17th 2 times - the first I left a message, later in the day, I called again and talked with a representative, who answers the phone. She said the bill will be in the mail and I would receive it in a few days. On January 1st, when I still had not received the bill, I called again (and recorded my call) asking for the bill. January 9th-- still no bill and now I am about to run out of gas. The after hours delivery guy doesn't want to come, because on the coldest evening of the year, he thinks we'll be okay until they can get here during regular hours. Guess he doesn't want to leave the football game.

Every time I run out of propane they're trying to charge me $100 for a pressure test. I know plenty of companies that just do a yearly pressure check what is this one so different? Changing companies ASAP

Paraco Gas horrible service and rude

I haved lived in Westchester for over 7 years. Moved to a house with propane gas 4 years ago. Paraco was the provider of service and also the tanks. They never show up on time, we have run out of gas numerous times even after calling a week in advance for a fill up. When you call them if you are ever able to get people on the phone they act like they are doing you a favor. This company is probably the worst service of any company I have experienced in Westchester. Choose any other provider.
