A Papasan Cradle Swing was purchased for newborn, item was on store registry, 2 week old baby not comfortable in chair and it made a loud clicking noise with each motion of rocking. Attempted to return same to store where mother was registerd (could not find receipt and box was recycled) treated very by manager who simply said she could replace it with the exact same product without the box and in pieces not assembled. Explained politely to her (Tammy) that item was unacceptable and parents unhappy with same ($199.00) would like a gift card for other style of their choice. Said she could not issue credit that it's too bad that the honest people have to pay for the actions of the dishonest. I asked to speak to customer service head office and was handed phone with number dialed, put on hold, after few minutes, asked for tel# woudl call myself from home and had no choice but to accept new swing, out of box, in three bags, three salepeople serving me not understanding what was going on, manager totally oblivious to anything, back turned to everyone and she just ignored us and kept doing her inventory list. Called head office, their return policy not allow me to return item for credit, apologized but nothing could be done at this end, but theywill forward complaint to another dept higher up and they will call me in 4-5days. (very polite person at customer service dept). I explained that if the item had been purchased at Sears, Wallmart or Zellers there would be no problem returning same since we were not happy. Nothing he can do, will wait to hear but I will no longer shop at Toy r Us nor will be two daughters who have young babies, unacceptable and rude behaviour of manager, and lousy return policy!
