Palm Beach Tan Restricted tanning service and poor customer service

PBT located at 1255 Alabama Street, Redlands, CA

I went in for tanning service and was told that the bulbs were replaced so my tanning time had to be reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes. This was a surprise because in the past when bulbs were replaced, I still was able to tan the full time.

The "District Manager, Chasity T." said that the FDA restricted our tanning times. Which I found absurd! I believe this person is a liar.

I've been to this location for several years but ever since PBT took over the ownership, they keep adding more and more restrictions. I made the mistake of purchasing additional membership and paid it in full and when I asked to have the membership refunded, the "District Manager, Chasity T." said they do not provide refunds.

Buyer beware! PBT company stills your money, restrict your access so that you are not able to tan on a regular basis.

My membership was not due to expire until 12-11-2024 but on 11-23-2023, the store was running a special that you can purchase a year and get an additional year free so I paid it in full and renewed my membership. I am extremely disappointed in the continued restrictions and the attitude of the staff. I would like a full refund.

Palm Beach Tan I want my account refunded

1/8/24 my debit card was charged $117.55 for a monthstan. I would not have minded had I not gotten a seizure. I had called to explain the girl told me I had to ask for a refund online, which I did. I received a email back saying they cxld me but not getting a refund because I didn't cxl before 12/25/24. I then emailed back stating had I had a seizure before the 25th I would have but I cannot control seizures. I cannot drive. My Dr has changed my meds I cannot drive for 6 months so what am I going to do with credit when I also told you I was moving. I called left messages no response. I have also contacted my bank. If I have to I will take you to court.

Palm Beach Tan Bluffton location spray tan booth always broken

Good morning,

I've been a client off and on for a few years now. I use the 2 turn spray tan machine almost exclusively because the 4 turn over sprays my feet and sometimes irregularly over my body. That said, I had the membership but was unable to go in weekly like I wanted to because the 2 turn machine was always "waiting on a part." I finally went in to cancel my membership because I've been paying without being able to use. You will see that I have been able to spray from time to time; this was only when the machine was working. I'd like to request a refund for the last 2 months of membership, as I wasn't able to use the equipment I desired. I have tried to discuss this with the staff at this location and they have encouraged me to reach out to corporate, stating that it's not likely that you'll do anything about it. Not the best customer service in my opinion when I've not been able to use the very resource I'm paying for...

Dear Ms. Lucas, my reason for reaching out to you is make you aware of a situation with the store manager Jessica Thatcher of the Abercorn location in Savannah, Ga.

I will state upfront that you are going to find this complaint to be a quagmire as my concerns center around your male customers as well as a company that I love being a customer of that are being hustled and manipulated for financial and emotional gain by Ms Thatcher and it is my belief that her actions could result in a very serious legal liability as well as the potential for an ugly PR scenario should the public become informed.

You should know that my statements here can be verified by #1-others who are familiar with the issue,#2- text messages and #3-bank records all of which I am willing to provide you. You will also find significant verification on #4-Ms.Thatchers phone contacts and messages as well as #5 by speaking with the customers involved, (several over the last eight months).

What exactly is happening?

Ms Thatcher is luring male customers into relationships with her, some of them sexual and romantic, others for gifts and emotional attention. Three of these relationships over eight months have been live in/ move in sexual romantic months long interludes with the promise of love, marriage and a beautiful life until she gets what she wants which doesn’t take long before she devours the next victim.

She also keeps a collection of stand buys, (again your customers), that she is constantly grooming so that there is a replacement ready to move into the starting line up at a moments notice. They are all Palm Beach customers and she is in contact with them via calls, messages and meetings for drinks and other things at various time intervals.

I was one of the three victims that was led to believe we would marry and I even began building a business for Ms. Thatcher and I to start our lives out with. We resided together for Five and a half months until I ended the relationship when I received confirmation of the next victim she had been grooming, (another Palm Beach customer), whom is clueless of what she has gotten him into as she is now living with him and soaking up his resources like she did mine and others.

I am fully aware this complaint may appear to be a vendetta or payback and I will submit to you that there is no doubt that I was devastated when the facts began to unfold regarding who and what Ms. Thatcher really is. But please know that I do not want anyone else to go thru the lies, manipulation and betrayal that this individual is using your customers for to release havoc and devastation upon.

I visit all of the salons here in Savannah and the mangers know me as a happy regular patron that has referred my friends, associates and family members to Palm Beach. It saddens me to also make you aware that Ms. Thatcher needs rehab for alcoholism as she is a raging alcoholic and mixes it with the psyche drugs she takes for anxiety and depression. I am very worried that she is spiraling out of control by making terrible impulsive choices and leaving a trail of destruction in her path as many people are getting hurt in the process, your customers!

The same scenario happened in Fargo ND where she lived as she left another job in which numerous affairs happened and a live in relationship while her two daughters where forced to fend for themselves in a highly dysfunctional environment to begin their first year of college with little resources and parental guidance.

She repeated the same behavior there as she is doing here at your expense and the potential liability may be substantial. I remain very concerned for Jessica Ms. Lucas, yeah, I’m mad as hell for what she did but revenge is not on the table here nor would it bring healing or satisfaction.

I love how well you manage the company and it speaks volumes of your commitment to excellence and professionalism, a rarity in today’s world. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Palm Beach Tan Complaint

I joined on May 17th and bought some primer. That very day I tanned but didn’t use the primer. On May 19th I found out I was going have to have surgery so I stopped by to return the primer and the lady told me to come back Saturday May 20 th when manager was there. On the day she canceled my membership and she keep my primer that I wanted refunded but she said she would call me on Monday and said my tan would be 39 so she would refund the membership minus 30 and woul let me know about returning primer on Monday. She called said she wasn’t going refund but 18 dollars and not refund primer. I’ve called customer care and distant manager and still nobody wants to return it, I’ve haven’t received any money at all and when I look up under palm beach tan it says you can return within 7 days for products will include copy of that

Palm Beach Tan Horrible customer service

I’ve been a customer for a few years now and this is the first time something like this happens to me. My fiancé and I share a lotion and he always puts the lotion in the lobby right before he goes in the room to tan. Today, as we are checking in, he does the same and the girl that was at the reception (Sarah) said “do you mind putting your shirt on?” Which he did right away. It wasn’t really that what was insulting, it was the fact that she made a face disgusted about what had just happened. She continued checking us in shaking he head like we had done something terribly wrong. Although I can understand when someone doesn’t feel comfortable, it was not the way of behaving making us feel like we were discussing and also, this is a tanning place. He was not naked, he was just putting lotion on his chest.

After I tanned, I looked for a business card on the desk (of course there was no one at front and the door for the employees was closed) and she came out and said “what are you doing?” With a very upset face. At this point I said to her that she had a bad attitude and that she was probably working at the wrong place. She didn’t not care about how she made us feel so I asked for her manager and she said “he is coming late”. I asked for the name and an email address for him and she said she will not give me the information and that I could call later. I asked the time where I could find him and she said she didn’t know. At this point I asked for her name and told her I will reach out and she said good luck, you will not get anything.

This is insulting and disrespectful. There are many different ways to handle a customer but she made it very clear we were not welcomed here.

Again, I can understand if she didn’t feel comfortable, but the way she behaved looking at us discussed and then treating me like I was about to steal something is not acceptable. I would normally reach out to the manager, but she made it clear that my concern as a customer was not important here.

I would appreciate someone reaching out to me. I’m hoping my corners matter at this level. We deserve respect and she clearly is not the right person for the job.

Desired outcome: I would like to be contacted hoping you can turn this feeling around. As I said, I’ve never experienced this before at this location or any other

Palm Beach Tan Customer service

Yes this is Sarah Ruiz I go to the tanning bed over in Palm Beach tanning in Amelia Ohio I've always had trouble with them trying to take money off my card and they usually always help very helpful and never try to charge me extra usually most of the time that shows on my card and my email that you try to take it off in the first and the last time you'll try to take it off is on the 5th or 6th this time I had the money on there but it still said decline for some reason I tried going to the store and they keep on trying to tell me no they don't never run it twice I said well you see the first time sometimes but I have the money on it they will run it again like around the 5th or 6th between there but she got an attitude with me saying that I was lying and try to charge me extra I only put a $17.45 or something like that a month to try to charge me 27 this basically happens almost every beginning of the month and I still have the same card to have no other problems with the card I guess I won't be coming back it's not my fault that it's not paid or taking out my account when I have it in there. I'm not going to refer this place to anybody it's the new people you got working there today I can't remember the lady I usually did with she's got real short hair only works twice a week there I can't remember her name for nothing but she's awesome and she always helps me out the girls are in there now are congregating and basically laughing at me

Desired outcome: Put him to take the dollars is something since off my card and sit there and stop telling me that I'm lying when I know what they usually do every month and I've been coming here almost a year now

Palm Beach Tan wasn't given the right information about the package I purchased which almost caused me to overdraft

I went to your facility in Decatur, Al Saturday June 24, 2017 to purchase a package for tanning and the spray tans after being told all of the hype about products I selected a package the young lady told me how much my total would be which was 123.06 but only 23.06 would come out the day of purchase and the remaining balance would not come out until August 1, 2017 sounded pretty fair so I signed my receipt EXCEPT everything came out at once causing me to almost overdraft my account! I'm not a hard person to deal with but I know what I was told I went back the first chance I got which was today Wednesday June 28, 2017 and the girls there told me they couldn't believe I was told something like that I ask for a refund and for the membership to be cancelled she said she could not refund me money WHY NOT I was sold something under false pretenses? I work very hard for my money drive over 90 miles a day to and from work believe I do not have money to squander this was a treat for myself and now I have been given the wrong information and made infuriated because I was given the wrong information. I have worked with the public for over 30 years and worked in a tanning salon so I know it's a luxury to a lot of people just refund my money please unfortunately my time was wasted yet again I have had a similar situation with your business in the past if it is not resolved I will not hold back my opinion and will never use your facility again

Palm Beach Tan Billing/ Rude Employees

I signed up for a package in march 17th and it cost me $134.00 That Day I was not pleased and asked what did I just pay for and they said the full month of April I told them I only wanted to tan a few times the month of MARCH and she then said well you will be charged a prorated amount on april 1st for the month of march! I told her that's not what I asked for but she said it was to late MY CARD WAS CHARGED! I have been trying to contact someone IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NOBODY WILL CALL ME BACK! because I only got to tan FOUR TIMES IN MARCH before I found out I AM PREGNANT and now I cannot use what I paid for in APRIL SO I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOBODY WILL CALL ME BACK! I DO NOT RECOMEND ANYONE USING THESE RUDE PEOPLE!

Palm Beach Tan Tanning Membership

To cancel your monthly membership you have to arrive (in person) to cancel on the 25th of the month. I arrived on the 27th. After being charged for the next month which I was not using, I contacted the corporate office. The reason I was not able to physically arrive at a store location on the 25th is because I was the victim of numerous crimes and was dealing with one of the worst things in my life, let alone talking with the police, not being able to sleep, not really even being able to function. Even after informing them of my situation, they told me there was nothing I could do. The District Manager Michelle Tiedemann was told about my circumstances and she refused to issue a refund. I arrived less than 48 hours after their cut off date, the reason I was late is something out of my control and something I wish did not happen. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. I will NEVER deal with this company again and I hope customers think twice about the company they may wish to support. After everything I've been through, having to fight over a $32.99 charge is absolutely disgusting and sad.

Palm Beach Tan Rudeness

I chose Palm Beach Tan by Word of mouth. I came in today, 5/26/11 approx 2:10pm were I was not greeted friendly my Reachel n Terisa I beleave, after 6yrs of loyalty at mine n family's former tanning salon, is a total blow tht someone greeting could not greet with a smile n just keep chatin with one another! Rude! Plz contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com I really want some feed back as to how I was greeted on this day! I'm well knownin redding ca, and have no prob by word of mouth spreading the word as I brought quite a few friends n family with me to Palm Beach. Will be exspecting a response and a different greeting in the future! Not a good time with economy to loose business, truly~ thx!

Palm Beach Tan False Advertising

I just wanted to go in and get $19.99 free tanning for a month. Well, the girl there told me it would cost $25 with a start up fee. I said, why would I get a package for $19.99, pay $25, when I could pay $4 more and get the $29.95 package which would have been an upgrade? I was so frustrated. I just wanted one tan session and I had some fingerprint thing so no one else would tan under my name. WTF? Was this the CIA or a tanning salon? Ridiculous. WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN.

Palm Beach Tan Rip off

BEWARE when you cancel your account. They will keep charging your card, hoping you won't see it or they will do what they did to my daughter, turn your account into a sleeper account where they charge you $5 a month without your permission!...just in case you want to come back to use their services. Can you say SCAM! In my opinion they are SCAM ARTISTs Preying on the younger crowd because you don't know better and are too oblivious to your credit card statements. This occurred in Dallas. Don't waste your time with the BBB or the attorney general of your state...GO VIRAL on their ###. Tweet, Facebook or whatever you use. USE the power of the web to shut these scammers down!...all this is my opinion...for their attornies.

Palm Beach Tan Bad service

This is the fourth year (and last) that I have tanned here, reactivating my membership from the Stay and Save 3 years after that. The first year was great. The second year my credit card apparently expired and instead of contacting me when the charge didn't go through, they just kept racking up charges until I reactivated my membership in the spring. Last year I had problems with an employee who would give me grief for wanting to tan more than she wanted me to, just because (and she said it too) SHE burned easily and was afraid I would too. I even signed a consent and she wouldn't up my time. She finally left her employment there. This year, I put my account on stay and save in September. They charged me $5 in October, and then never charged my card again. My card has never been overdrawn and I didn't get a new card. I reactivated my account this past week and they told me that my card was bad and I owe them $45! I asked them if they had a problem with my card, why wouldn't they contact me, and she shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know." This was the manager, by the way. Then she made a remark that I can't leave me 5 year old daughter (who was with me when I reactivated my account) in the lobby while I tanned. I never said I was staying to tan, nor did I ask her to watch my kid, and why would I leave my 5-year-old in the lobby of a store by herself for 15 minutes? The next day I went to tan and their systems were down. They said they were not allowed to put anyone in the tanning beds until their systems were up, and they didn't know when that would be. I went back today, and they told me I couldn't tan because I had to wait 24 hours from the last time I tanned. I told them they wouldn't let me tan yesterday because their system was down, but apparently they had entered me in that I had tanned yesterday. And they were "really sorry" but they can't let me tan until 3 hours later. This place SUCKS. I plan on cancelling my membership completely in the next couple of months - only because they've confused me with all of their charges and not allowing me to tan, and it is too late for me to do membership at another place. This program should be called "Stay and Get Screwed."

Just wanted some color before I can get to the pool...so, I went to palm beach tan off overton ridge in fort worth. After I asked them for any specials or discounts, witch they denied, I decided to take the $20 week. I went home that evening only to go online and find out they do have 2 specials, one week free and one free spray tan or something like that. Next day I went back and asked them if I can have the special since their new employee could not assist me properly, ( I asked her multiple qurstions at what she said:I am new, didn't he trained very well), at what assist manager said sorry, u should have that when u purchast the week, and we don't know what is online, there is nothing I can do. So that was that. Next, last day of my tan, I forgot my jewelry in the tan room, couldn't come back because it was late, it closed, but I came back next day to pick it up. The same assist manager dush bag guy that cleaned the bed after me and picked my necklace and 2 rings, one silver, one white gold with diamonds, was there and looked for 30 f min, found the cheap ring and necklace but white gold expensive ring got wings..supposedly nowhere to be found! Such a mystery. I'm sitting there looking at him and its sooo obvious he took it, its written all over his face, and he is trying to fake it, puts up a show to appear calm but u can tell..he said, sorry, there is nothing I can do. What pissed me off is he knows he can get away with it, because probably did it before, and its easy to steal and say she never had it, and manager won't do crap about it, they won't admit of stealing or being rude or false advertising...Anybody any ideas? It's so frustrating! I want my f ring back-memory, its important to me..

Palm Beach Tan They continue to bill my bank 85.47

Don't give Palm Beach Tan your bank account. I'd been a member for over a year and when I went in to cancel in person as instructed, they told me I'd not be billed any further. They continue to bill my bank 85.47. The owner of this franchise [protected] begin_of_the_skype_highlighting [protected] end_of_the_skype_highlighting doesn't seem to care. I've had to resort to filing with the state and my bank to deny them. I'm owed over 600 in refunds.

BEWARE signing any agreement with this group. I've been trying to cancel their Autopay out of my Amex for months. Apparently they just got the charges reinstated to my Amex by submitting an agreement that says I have to make a PERSONAL APPEARANCE to a salon to cancel. I've left messages and talked to a manager and disputed months of charges to Amex. It all boils down to they will not cancel unless I go out of my way to their salon which is no longer convenient or easy.

I have purchased several Mystic Tanning packages since I moved to Atlanta in 2006. Every time I would purchase a new one I would keep a count in my head as to how many sessions I had left (I would only purchases 3 or 4 at a time). I was never told that they expired after a certain time period at the time of purchase and every time I would come in, I was told I had one less than I thought I had left. Finally I actually put theinfo in my phone along with the purchase date and every time I would go in, I would change the number of visits I had left to one less becuase I thought I might have not been keeping track correctly. I had in my phone that I had two vists left and when I showed up one night they told me I only had one left and asked if I would like to purchase some additional ones. I was livid. I mentioned to the attendant that I had been keeping track in my phone and she saod she would speak to a manager and they would be able to add an additional visit on to my account. However, this never happened. I was also told at one time that I could go ahead and purchase some additional visits and even though they expired in 3 months I would not have to worry about the time starting until I used the first visit for that package. The next time I went, which happened to be months later, they told me my visits were expired and I, again, mentioned it to the attendant and she said she would have a manger go in and give them back to me. This never happened either. Needless to say, I have not ever went back to a Palm Beach Tan since and never plan on it.

I called Palm Beach Tan iOn Germantown Road in Mempjis to see how much a Mystic Tan was. They informed me that the cost was $30 for one or $45 for three and that I had a six month My forst tan (dark) was uneventful, but two months later when I went in for my second tan, there was an additional $5 charge for any tan other than the lightest. The manager opoligized for not telling me this on the front end, but stated that this is the way it is now and I would have to pay the extra $5 if I wanted my tan. This would of course make the $45 dollar deal now a $55 dollar deal when all I really wanted was one tan before going on a cruise. The young lady at the counter was very rude, asking me "Are you calling me a liar" in front of other patrons. I am hoping my husband, who is a long time lawyer here in Memphis will look into a class action lawsuit. I can easily afford the extra $5, but alot of people are being scammed by this and have no recourse but to pay. THis is not right.

You're not the only one to experience this. I had a membership with Palm Beach last year & when summer ended, they asked me to try their "Stay & Save" program for $7.50 or so per month in case I wanted to tan anytime I wanted. I said okay and things went great for a while. After Christmas my hours were cut down at work, so I was struggling to pay my bills. I debated quitting them because of this. I went in one day and signed their contract, and they told me my "tan dollars" (the money you build up with them) would cover the expenses to start tanning again. I found out later that they took $32 out of my bank account and I said so to them and they said I "froze" my membership. That was the last straw for me. They should be called "Palm Beach Scam."

Palm Beach Tan Seems like employees are making rules as they go

Where to begin, first off the location I dealt with is the Palm Beach Tan on Beltline in Addison, Tx. I began by calling to ask how much for a one month membership, I was told $25.00. I specifically asked "OK so I can come in every month and pay $25.00 cash as a go month to month, I do not want anything attached to my bank account." I was told that was correct. I went in that night with $25.00 cash and was told, no I could join for $25.00 a month on auto deduct from my bank. I said no, he told me I could tan for $35.00 a month without a membership. I had $25.00 cash on me and was told I could buy one tan for $10.00 or one week for $20.00. I paid for a week on a thursday night and asked, " so I can tan until next thursday" I was told yes. I went back the following thursday night and was told my membership expired. Do the employees make up rules as they go? Nothing I was told was correct and this was after I spent $70.00 on lotion. I should have known better than to try another salon because they are closer. It is back to Metro tan for me. I am so tired of these sunbaked, bleached teeth, teenagers abusing my money and not getting anything right.

Palm Beach Tan This place in more of a headache that anywhere I have been

This place is worse than a car Dealership. First of all, the girl that helped me, looked like she had tanned every day in her life, and looked Disgusting. It made me want to never tan again! I only wanted to go 1 time and try the beds out, and she tried preasuring me into buying the Premium Tanning Package for almost a half hour. When I told her no, I was then treated poorly. WORST PLACE EVER! MORE OF A HEADACHE than ANYWHERE I have been!

Myself as well as my coworker were terminated in a manor of retaliation.

We were terminated from the company after reaching out to HR regarding upper managements threats and scare Tactics. Hr never reached back out regarding our claims.. they terminated us a week after we reached out to hr for the hostile work place.
