I have been with Optimum or Cablevision since September 2010. I have had issues with their service but nothing that rose to outrageous like the call I got last night on Thursday, 2/16 at around 9PM. The woman called and said that a previous tenant in the same building owed them monies from two or more years ago and that their were adding this to my account. Sure enough today I went online and Cablevision added $400 to my account. Unbelieveable but true.

I am not a customer of this Co but they just charged over $1200 to my credit card. Don't know how they got it. Fortunately, I have my Credit card Co issue me alerts when something suspicious is charged to my account. So I was able to report it within a few hrs of the pending charge. They hadn't gotten the funds yet so the bank is stopping them and no losses. Thank Goodness.

I don't have a Optimum acct, yet I was charged $250 on my credit card. My credit card has not been used on almost 2 yrs, nor is it activated. How they charged my credit card is unknown. When I called their customer service, the lady was rude and said she would not give me any info, that I should contact police or my bank. I live in Arizona, and have a local internet service. This is outrageous. What kind of Scam company is this.

Optimum has installed OPENAM on my email account without my authorization. It is a open identify source that I asked to get removed immediately. I called in March and the Rep acted stupid and said they would escalate and have a senior manager call me back; no one ever did. I called again and the Rep sounded as if she was offshore although claimed local and that I received a notification on my email regarding installation of same and I should have read it. That never happened either. I request they mail me the document and related privacy policy, never got anything. Still accessing, logging and tracking my emails. Now, I have to send a complaint to the FCC and another to the legal department to pursue this action. They are committing fraud and should be sued.

This organization should be charged with corporate fraud. Every single customer interaction seems designed to confuse and exploit. Our service is terrible - countless calls to Optimum lead to empty promises of restored service, compensation, extra bonus packages etc etc - none of which ever materializes. Right now I'm waiting at home for a technician who was meant to be here three hours ago. half my weekend wasted, I'm now going to their store to finally cancel the subscription for good, although no doubt they'll try to squirm out of that, somehow, too.
This consumer-cheating behavior cannot be tolerated - it happens across all parts of American life these days - utilities, insurance, everywhere you can possibly be cheated by an impenetrably complicated, powerful organization as a consumer, you surely will be. And it's more than just scummy corporate money-grabbing, it's insidious and is becoming normal in life to cheat and be cheated. This is America. We should be better than this.

I am having the same problem. Could not get any reasonable answer over the phone and visited store in person. Supervisor was finally able to discover that I have 2 accounts. I have been their loyal customer for over 20 years. They are billing me with late fees and other charges. Spoke with main office, ordered investigation. Nothing is done. They feel free to screw you up the way they choose. We need to contact FCC, Attorney General and mass media. Thousands of complains online and nothing is being done.
