OpenOffice / Compatability with Microsoft Office

Contact information:
I recently purchased a software program that supposed to be compatable with Microsoft Office software. When I try to save my project from my laptop to my flash drive and then open it on a desktop with Microsoft software it won't open it. I have spent the last hour trying to get it to open my file on the second computer with no success. How do I get this file to open off my jump drive?

Are you saying you purchased "Open Office"? Because Open Office is "Open Source" or "FREE" software...there's not cost to get it.

When you saved the document or file in Open Office did you save it as an MS Word document? Open Office has export options for saving in different formats; it won't automatically do it, you have to select the format.
