Ontario Energy Group harrassment

This is to confirm the complaints against this company. The representative, a kid who was trying to get information about the age of our water heater. I explained that I was not interested. He continued to try to explain and went on about how he was aware of the scams in our area but he was not. At any rate he simply would not leave. I had to be rude, I do not like to do that.

Ontario Energy Group horrible business and dishonest business owners

Ontario energy group is a scam company that nobody should ever deal with. The owner eugene farber is the most dishonest person on the planet! He didn't even pay his employee the money they worked their # off for. So folks be alert when anybody with oeg badge comes to your door!

Came to my elderly fathers home...obviously searched him out by age and he spoke Spanish. Dad signed a contract for over $14000 for a furnace and AC unit that reputable installers are charging $6000 for. They got him to give them his Enbridge acct number and told him the furnace and AC would be free. If I hadn't cancelled the monthly cost (at 8%) would have buried in his gas bill. Very sneaky ###!

Ontario Energy Group false inspection

On November 13th, 2012 two employee's of OEG called to my door in the evening stating that the Enbridge services for my air conditioner and heater were covered under a new government effeciency rebate. If they could inspect the sticker on my heater and A/C unit they could make sure it had the right piping (as per new standards).
I quickly informed them that I had not got an A/C and had no idea what letter they were referring. I asked if I could call Enbridge to have someone come out. I was told it would only take two seconds. The more questions I asked (as I actually know what I'm talking about) the more angry and rude they got. I calmly reported that I didn't have an air conditioner so their report must be wrong. Asking for credentials, besides they're flimsy laminated photo's I was told they were 'Licensed Inspectors'. Responding that I was actually trained my father in gas maintainence I said what could they do that I cant?
In short the more legitimate questions I asked, like for phone numbers, credentials, whether I could find the information myself and report back, how the government had a contract out with them, the more irritated and insulting they became. Eventually they insulted me, my friend and more besides as they stomped off down the street.

I contacted the office directly, just out of a formality, and made my complaint to a very nice young lady who has probably heard it all before.

In short, this is a scam, just like the water heater guys heading around, using misrepresentation to take advantage of confused homeowners. The guys at the door are not qualified at anything, they are sales men. Any rebate that can be given you can apply for yourself. No one needs to come to your home unless you want them to. Finally, as per the white/black PVC tubing necessary this is a change to the regulations. Meaning that any NEW installations require this, old installations are not affected (although upgrades are strongly advised).

4:30 pm 15/08/14 - OEG rep showed up at door, claiming legislation has been passed that required him to inspect our furnace for energy compliance. Left the neighbourhood quickly after I told him I was reporting his activities.

Ontario Energy Group door to door sales call ends in assault

I will post my experience I had tonight and let those reading judge.
I had a young man come to my door. He said he was from 'Ontario Energy' and needed to come inside to make sure my furnace and air conditioner met the new efficiency standards. He literally started moving toward my open door as though he was going to walk into my house. I blocked his path, stepped onto the front porch, closed the door behind me. I knew right away he was using aggressive and misleading tactics, and I questioned him about his company and who he represented. He couldn't answer consistently, quickly got flustered and told me I could speak to his Manager. Only then did I notice the man standing at the edge of my property. Knowing full well these people would be going along the street preying on some of my elderly neighbours, I went toward the mystery man and asked him his name. He refused to tell me and actually told me to go back in my house if I wasn't interested. Since I don't take kindly to any bullying, I argued with him a bit. After insulting me a few times he reached around and patted me on the back twice in a mocking / demeaning way. Mr. Mystery no name man didn't realize that touching me equals assault and that I have a brown belt in jiu-jitsu. He was quickly pinned and restrained, I warned him that if he touched me again I would defend myself further and charge him with assault, then i released him. They walked away, the one yelling back that he would 'destroy me'. I quickly went inside to grab my cell phone, called 911, and followed them up the street. They were parked about a block away, got into a white BMW and sped off. Unfortunately i didn't get a complete license plate. Police attended the scene, I gave them a report, they told me to call 911 if I ever spotted them again, I've alerted my neighbours and hopefully these guys were shaken up enough to change a bit.
In hindsight, the biggest problem I have with these people isn't whether they'll scam me, it is that I know they are just looking for the easy target to prey on. I agree that we are at a point now where no reputable company, charity, or other group should be knocking on doors soliciting anything. No reputable company should be doing it, and 99% no longer do.
So Ontario Energy Group, in my opinion, is an organization that no one should ever deal with. There is enough convincing evidence online to back up my opinion, they don't even list a location of any kind on their website, and they employ people and practices that are questionable at best.

In the course of two days, I've had two separate individuals knock on my door and ask if I'm the owner of the home.
When I tell them I am, they inform me they are from the Ontario Energy Group and are here to inspect my Furnace, Air Conditioning and Water Heater.
I tell them I am not interested but they insist they need to do an inspection.
I again tell them I am not interested and they become somewhat hostile and insistent on doing an inspection.

Only after I FIRMLY tell them I am not interested, they stomp off.

You're actually an ###... Was that really necessary to pin him to the ground because he sarcastically patted you on the back? Like I'm sorry but this guy probably had no intention of causing physical harm to you and you clearly were the one trying to bully him with your oh so special "brown belt in jiu-jitsu". That was a pretty immature act on your part as you could have easily just told him you weren't interested and closed the door. Usually people will be nice to you if you're not so rude to them.

Similar incident although I didn't get to escort the person from my home. :( Man showed up and said he was with the government and needed to come into my home to inspect the furnace. I noticed the OEG logo on his jacket and badge and asked him what he was selling. Nothing he said, at which point he then stated that as a government official (true) he had the right to enter my home and inspect my furnace for safety reasons. I politely said, no thank you, please have my address removed from your list so you don't return and please leave. As he was on his way off the stoop, he turned and informed me that until someone from the government had entered my home and inspected my furnace, he or someone would keep coming back. I forwarded this to OEG via email and was told they don't keep a "do not call" or "do not disturb" list and that unless I could provide the badge number and name there was little they could do but they would definitely forward the email to management. I responded asking that they do not return and was again told that they couldn't guarantee someone wouldn't be by. I recently filed a complaint for business practices with the BBB.org.

I just had a young male come to my door from Ontario Energy Group. He spoke to my wife and misrepresented himself as a government employee who needed to inspect my air conditioner and furnace. My wife told him to wait so she could get me. I came to the door and he was gone however I found him at the side of my house inspecting my air conditioner. I told him several times to get off my property but he just kept trying to talk about my air conditioner. I finally told him he was contravening the Trespass to Property Act physically escorted him by the arm to the curb . He even tried to polish his shoes as I escorted him. He then said he was calling the police. I told him that was great and I would be waiting for them. He pretended to phone the police but he then left the neighbourhood with two of his other fraudsters. I would advise anyone not to even open your door to them as you will have a hard time getting rid of them if you engage them. You will recognize them by their OEG shirt logos.

Ontario Energy Group - misrepresentation

On February 2, 2012 a sales person from Ontario Energy Group knocked on our door and told my wife that they needed to inspect our furnace and hot water heater. They needed to be checked to see if it met new government regulations. He presented himself as a government official on official business. He also said that he needed to see our energy bills. My wife...

Ontario Energy Group misleading

Company called my home and was very misleading suggesting they must book an appt to enter my home and review my furnace to ensure it will meet new ontario gov't codes. Website also looks very professional. I called ontario energy board and ministry of consumer complaints. Both told me that they are misrepresenting the company and there is no such mandatory review. Very professional scam artists

Ontario Energy Group very bad after sale service

Do not do any business with this company...

I signed a contract with this company to replace my hot water tank... Bad decision... Should have google the name of the company before doing so...

The sales rep will tell you something (the installer will be at your place at 8 am sharp), then the after sale rep that calls to confirm your appointment will tell you something else (installer will be there between 8 and 10), and to make matter's worse, the installer called me on installation day to tell me he would be at my place at noon and he was late an hour since he had until 11 to get to my place!

In addition, the sales rep told me that they would need to make holes in my wall but they will fix the whole with a vent. However, when the installer got here, it was an extra charge to fix the wholes he made!

All in all, this company is not well integrated and only there for your $. Once the contract is signed, dont expect to be respected as a valued customer.

They are crooks, my story is too long to post here, I am preparing a law suit against them and it is a 7 page scenario so it's convoluted. They are definitely not to be trusted and they won't let go, they will rob you in front of your eyes and be bold about it. I need to find the names of any of these 3 positions to serve them with the law suit papers, manager, director or owner, I looked over the net for hours and could not find these info, when I called to find out they would not divulge any info as if they knew it was going to be about a big complaint.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

At around 6:30 p.m. November 2011, a very smooth talking young man and a young lady waited as I drove into my driveway tired from work. They presented themselves as an authority and requested to check my furnace stating that there was a new government regulation which expected furnaces to be of certain standard.
Of course being ignorant of Canadian regulations, I was so intimidated that I let them in and allowed them to inspect my furnace. They immediately commented that it did not meet required standards hence were not only affecting the environment but also affected my gas consumption. They recommended I install a new one immediately as this would reduce my heating bill by as much as 70%. I explained that I was not interested as I was about to sell my house to which the young responded would indeed be a benefit as the value of the house would increase and I could transfer the cost to the new owner.
Not at any one time did he inform me that financing would be through a third party and neither did he inform me that I would be bound to pay for 15 months. On the day of the agreed installation, I kept on calling the office and it appears there were discrepancies with the order. Finally when someone came to install, I brought it to his attention the difference in model numbers from my copy of authorization to which he stated that indeed what I was getting was of better quality. He proceeded to remove the old furnace. Immediately he stated that there were serious safety issues with the water heater that would affect the new furnace once installed and he proceeded to recommend that the water heater also needed to be replaced otherwise the company would not issue warranty as there was possibility of carbon monoxide leaking back into the house. Once again, I was intimidated by the fact that my son’s bedroom was next to the furnace room and that his safety was in jeopardy. Once again, I was that this would be an added bonus as it would greatly reduce the cost and that I would be very little per month. Not at any given time was I informed that this would be financed through a financial institution.
After the installation, the technician stood by me and pointed out where I was to sign. Once again, he never mentioned that this transaction was through a third party. The nightmare began once I sold my house and the last week of closing I was informed by my lawyer that there was a lien on my property. This house is registered to both me and my husband and he was never privy to the transaction. To remove the lien, I had to pay a penalty for discontinuing the “contract” of 15 years. The transaction was concluded on 22nd June, 2012 and I received a copy of the discharge. To my dismay, since payment was being done through my Enbridge bill, I have been receiving bills for the furnace and water heater which includes late payment charge. On the week of August 6th, I received a call from a debt collector demanding immediate payment. This is causing me a lot of stress and mental torture given that had I known, I would have arranged payment directly with my bank as I have good credit history.
My earlier attempts to discuss the matter with OEG prior to closing the deal for my property were futile as no one was willing to discuss this with me.
I need them to pay me back the cost of the furnace and water including the penalties I paid plus interest. I also need them to be given warning to desist from unethical marketing practices.

i had a tankless water heater installed by Ontario Energy Group. The agreement was to finance over 10 years and they tried to sneak a 15 year agreement by me. Very sneaky...wouldve cost thousands extra. My hot water takes 1 and a half minutes to warm up. This isn't right. They said it is. I called and spoke with someone else who said 15 to 20 seconds is normal. He will send someone between 3 and 5. Still waiting and it's 7. I guess they arent coming

The company installed a new water heater and before they did they called to delay the installation by a couple of days. They did turn up on time but a week later the connection between the water supply and the tank started to leak. It has taken 4 calls (long distance) to even speak to someone. The first 3 times I had to leave a message. I left 2 phone numbers for them to call but have not heard from anyone. I finaly spoke to the operator today and she promised that "Glen" would call me back asap. Let's hope he actually does otherwise I wil be find a way to cancel the agreement because so far they haven't lived up to their side of it. The three photos show the lousy connection and the foam insulation I think is a fire risk. It is now almost 2 hours since I phoned and no call back yet.

Ontario Energy Group - waterless tank

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a less than agreeable experience with the company ontario energy group, based in oakville. It's been a few months now since they came to install their waterless tank. Ever since signing the contract with them, it's been a constant battle. They left us without hot water in minus 20 degree weather in feb...
