onestopdownloads.com / Unauthorised credit card deduction

1 AU Review updated:

I tried to sign up to onestopdownloads.com today. They offer a $4.73 on time payment option to become a member of their site, this is for lifetime membership.

I joined the site, clicked on the pay now tab and was taken to a secure payment site. Filled in the creditcard details and was told I'd joined megaflixpass.com. This was not the site I was trying to join, I'd never even heard of it before. I had paid for a 3 day membership after which I would be billed almost $40US a month on an ongoing basis.

I immediately cancelled the membership and called my bank. I have been charged the $4.73 plus I assume the $39.73 as I've had two transactions taken from my account (being in Australian dollars it's hard to work out the exact exchange rate).

The company states it has a 24/7 email support system yet I have yet to receive a reply to the emails I've sent them. I am out of pocket almost $60AUD and have cancelled my credit card to ensure they can't deduct anymore money.

I can't help but feel this is a giant scam.

That should say one time payment of $4.73 (not on time payment). It is a one off payment, not ongoing.

I think they ask you to sign up to another site (megaflixpass) instead of signing up to their site, not sure why... This is where I went to cancel my subscription (took them 1-2 days, so I recommend doing it sooner rather than later in your trial period). Hope this helps somebody!

I am another one who was going to sign-up for this 'service' and glad I checked this site first! I would like to add that when you type in their search box you can put any words or letters and they say it is available for download! e.g. put in fgherserthyrtjhrjgcytjty! and they have it available for download! Someone should open a group lawsuit against the porn site that you get your account open with, then they might stop the nonsense, i mean how low can people go for that friggin' money. the worst is that everyone is the same, money money and more money, hey wake up, when your dead you can't bring it with you!

Sorry, but you must be real morrons to give your credit card details for a site that offers illegal downloads!

Yea I found onestopdownloads.com because I was searching for my own ebook that I sell on my site... just to see who else might be promoting it through my clickbank listing. I found it as a (supposedly) FREE download on onestopdownloads.com! Needless to say I was VERY UPSET when I saw this. I'm a single mom and a solo-practitioner... and the thought of somebody giving away my hard work (literally about 200 hours went into that ebook) really made me angry!

So I tried to sign up, just to see if I'd be able to download it. But when they asked me for money for a "trial" it looked suspicious, so I didn't do it. I googled them and found these boards.

FOR ANYBODY READING THIS: please do not download things illegally. People work very hard, and some of us need to LIVE and SUPPORT OURSELVES off the money we get from the sales of our efforts. Thanks for your understanding!
