Oncor power outage

Date 1/18/218
Time 9:05am
We were sitting at home and all our power went out, I went and looked out back and there was a truck working on a transformer. Evidently at 7:00am a fuse blew and they were replacing it. It would have been nice to hear that they were going to shut down power. I was on a call with a perspective client when the power died and ended up losing that client, they also had multiple truck parked in the alley blocking 5 driveways. They could have very easily knocked on doors to let people know. if there had been medical equipment that all the sudden stopped working that would have been very bad, losing a client is bad enough.

Oncor electricity

Date of incident: 11/12/18. A little after 7 pm in the evening of 11/12/18 my husband and I were watching television when all of a sudden we heard a boom that sounded like a transformer, the lights in the house flickered but stayed on the entire time and then saw sparks flying across our back yard. When husband investigated and noted that a power line had broken and had fallen in our back yard and on the roof of the house. I called Oncor around 7:30 and reported the fallen line and explained that there were sparks flying especially when the wind came up. I ended up calling Oncor four times that evening and on one of the calls the operator asked me if I had called the fire department in which I told her no and when I hung up with her we waited a bit to see if Oncor would come. By 9 pm Oncor still hadn't come so I did call the fire department. They came out and assessed the problem and they also called Oncor and hold them to send someone out quickly. Oncor finally showed up until about 10:30 that evening. They assessed the problem and then told us they would have to get another team out to our house to put in a new wire. The team got there around 1:30 am and worked until 3:30 and during that time we were without electricity. They did a very good job when they finally got to us but in the meantime after the entire evening our television went out, a Bose radio went out, and my treadmill machine went out I guess because of electrical surges. I feel if they had gotten there quicker we would not have lost these three items. We were really scared especially with the wire on the roof of the house and the sparks flying all over the back yard.

I do not have my client number available.

Oncor outage repair team

A storm knocked down a power line Monday morning [protected]) and I called and reported the outage. Several hours later a person came out and saw that a electric line was down. This nice man came to my door and told me the line was down and that he could not repair it. He would have to call another team which he did. A bit later two large trucks came in and repaired the line. My complaint is the drivers of these trucks ruined my yard. I appreciate them fixing the line but they did not have to get off the road to do so. I have a granite driveway and they road into my grass making deep ruts. The driveway is plenty wide so other than just not caring, they got off the road. Now my husband who has Parkinson's and I who has severe arthritis will have to go out there and fix the yard. I understand they were busy and I am sure had a lot to repair that day but they should be more considerate of peoples properties. Our home is on the market right now and this has to be repaired ASAP. Oncor landscaping removal

There is a new home being built next to us. Oncor had to come and hook up the temporary meter in our new neighbors yard. Up front I want to say yes i'm aware nothing is suppose to be planted around those gigantic ugly boxes. But people everywhere are doing it for the sake of pride ownership! Just keep your stuff cut down and back from the transformer and there won't be any issues.
We've been told by oncor that they had to cut the bushes in front of the transformer in our yard to the dirt in order to do their job. After seeking legal counsel we know that's not the case. Do they have the right to do it? Yes. Should they have done it? No. And do we have rights despite an easement? Yes!
It didn't make sense to us because the bushes have been there for 9 years and many homes around us have been built since then and somehow they have always been able to access the transformer but this week, after 9 years of accessing it, they had to cut the bushes to the dirt. (as you can see in the pictures I posted) we should have cut the bushes down, they had gotten away from us and were overgrown. (they were overgrown more than the picture shows) the picture shows more of what they look like when we keep up with them. The last time oncor sent someone out to hook up service they knocked on our door and said the bushes were to overgrown. My husband helped the gentleman and then cut them in half so the next guy wouldn't have a problem. There wasn't an emergency when they came this week. They could/should have knocked on our door and told us what was going on. We were home! Instead like I said they cut them to the dirt and left the pile of debris in our neighbors yard. When we sought legal counsel on the matter we found out that when trees are cut to access power lines the electric company hauls off the debris and this shouldn't be treated any differently. We haven't retained an attorney although we are still pondering it. Not because we think we'll have some great victory. We know we'll spend money we won't see again which is why we probably won't do it. We know they aren't going to fix what they did and we can't make them. We know they aren't going to admitt that they could have merely cut the bushes in half as opposed to completely out. Which is really the only reason we're still pondering legal action. We just want some awareness raised to the employees that don't have the ability to consider common sense things like "hey I could cut these in half and still access everything I need too because I have the ability to have the foresight that removing these and leaving the roots will leave them with zero options of fixing the removal of the bushes and could definitely effect the value of their home." is any of that the oncor employees problem? No. Should he have had the the common sense to think it through. Or had the courtesy to knock on our door like the last guy did? Yes. We've looked at purchasing a big fake rock to go over it but have been told that can trap in to much heat which makes sense. Although idk how these companies online are selling them for transformers? We obviously can't dig around it to plant anything else and a planter won't really fit well in front of it plus then we have to water it. Our realtor came out and said this will def have to be fixed before we can sell our home. It's disappointing that this was an easy fix and was handled so unprofessional by oncor.
I talked with the gentleman's supervisor several times and he was nice but he was saying things like they needed to be removed because some guys are allergic to evergreen. He also tried to tell me there was a good chance they'd grow back but they are a fire hazard because those transformers can spark. Which leaves me wondering why they put something that can spark in my yard? Anyway I requested to speak with his supervisor and that was a much better conversation. He didn't admit to it being overkill to kill the bushes but at least he didn't give me any bs about allergies and he could sympathize with what I was saying. He also brought up the point that they had to dig and one of the bushes was in the way. Ok I can understand that, and the bush in the way of that was on the side of the transformer and could have been removed while leaving the two in front of it. The two supervisors called me back promptly and didn't put me off at all. I was really impressed by that because often within big companies the customer service is lacking but that wasn't the case here.
It's really to bad the employee sent out to hook up service wasn't as proffesional. I believe the total overreaction to the problem facing him would have been different if he were.

Oncor emergency response team

At 2 pm I contacted oncor to report a broken electric meter that caused my breaker box to begin smoking, resulting in the fire department's response and installation of new breakers. At 5 pm someone from oncor arrived to the scene and cut the rest of the power to the home, telling me that in 3 hours it would be restored and fixed. At 8 pm I arrived home to find no one from oncor, no power (including air and fridge), and no progress made. At 9 pm a team from oncor arrived. They said they were going to fix it, it just might take a while. At 11:30pm I realized I no longer heard voices outside. I stepped outside to see no one from oncor working and no progress made. I am very upset. I have animals, as well as a fridge and freezer full of food that I could have relocated, had they not [censored]ted me almost 7 hours ago.

Oncor oncor

I live in melshire estates. There was a line from a post across the street at the alley of quincy lane between melshire and willow lane. The line was connected to the pole. It came accross the street on the ground to my yard and up in the tree then to the ground again. It ran down the side of my yard to the back. The end of it had open wires as if it had been broken from somewhere. My husband and are in our 80's. We were very concerned. All we could think of was a down power line and getting electrocuted. I called 311. They connected me to oncor. Oncor was here within 45 minutes. The guy said he didn't know what kind of line it was but it wasn't a power line, he was irritated and had a bad attitude. He seemed angry when he got out of the truck. I kept pleading wilt him to tell me what line it might be. He did not care. I have never had a service to be nasty like that. I told him I was going to report him.

Oncor new service

I put a new sign up for a customer and the customer requested new service on the sign. Approx. 4/22/2018. As of today 7/10/2018 we still do not have service. The people in odessa texas for oncor are saying they are waiting on a contractor to put one pole in for a drop. No one will give me a date of that install. My customer will no finish paying me until the sign is working. It's a tv screen led. He owes me $34, 000.00 as of today. Some gentleman named mr martin arguello with oncor in odessa texas was going to tell me install date two weeks ago. I have put messages on his cell and there's been no response. I'm a texas sign contractor in odessa texas. My cell number is 432.288.0060, my office number is 432.580.7211, my email is [protected]@dalesprinting.com. Please help!

Oncor tree and fence damage and continued line outage

I live on 2 jeffus court in wichita falls, texas. Jeffus court is a cul-de-sac that is directly behind blue cross blue shield of texas (bcbs) in wichita falls, texas. My property line and bcbs property line share a common fence line. Along this fence line, there are a number of trees that occasionally have grown close to the power lines.in the first quarter of 2018, oncor has had a company come twice to trim our cottonwood trees as well as our neighbors.

No one called us or let us know when it was happening or why, they just came by and trimmed the trees. The second time they came back to trim additional branches, I was home and spoke to the gentleman in charge. He told me that he was told that the first trimming was not good enough and that they were ordered to trim everything within 6 to 8 feet from the lines. The company also came in my yard and trimmed back 6 or 7 bushes.

The problem is how they trimmed the trees. They made a "y" cut of the tree and branches so the electric line would go through the trees. What they failed to understand is that you can't trim a tree and not balance the weight of the tree on both sides.in this case, which I told the gentleman, you cannot have 1 branch on one side and 5 on the other of the "y" cut. The weight will kill the tree. Below are two photos, we have several more that show the before and after damage.

I believe oncor should have used a lot more precaution and thought of what would happen with the tree. I have two other cottonwood trees that are in danger of doing this very same thing due to the mismanagement of trimming the trees.
Blue cross and blue shield are now involved as the loss of electricity is costing them money every time this happens. This could have been easily avoided if everyone involved could have talked about the trees, the history with these issues and came up with a solution.

I feel oncor bears some of the financial responsibility in this case to remove the trees(s) and fix the fence. Oncor needs to work with everyone in the neighborhood affected for a viable solution, not just trim the trees where they think its needs to occur. I feel all of this could have been avoided and would appreciate oncor's review of this matter.

Sincerely,

Kevin goldstein

Oncor need new service

I sent the message below to
Martin.Arguello Martin.[protected]@oncor.com on 5-1-2018 as the POC for Colton Swiggart (one of your employees assigned to assist in this area but does not respond to emails or phone calls. Mr. Arguello has not responded either but not sure if it was a valid POC given in Swiggart's only email. We need immediate assistance to be able to move in, the military storage is very expensive.

Mr. Arguello,

In one of Colton Swiggart's email had your email as a point of contact. We have a new home near completion and power has not been connected or do we have any idea when it's going to happen. For the past month in a half Mr. Swiggart has been saying he's going to get it done but nothing has happened and he's not replying to emails or phone calls.

Can you help us get the power connected to the transformer. Mr. Swiggart has the load requirements as of about three weeks ago. The address is 604 E. 18th St, Monahans, TX 79756. There's a second new home that is also having the same issue next door to ours.

Oncor marking utility lines

My neighbor was having some work completed in her backyard. Her boyfriend called to get the utility lines marked. I have synthetic grass and the person who came out to mark the lines for oncor used dark red spray paint on my grass. It cannot be removed and the entire section of the grass must be replaced. This is very expensive and I would like you to pay your fair share of the expense.

Lines were marked on/about sunday 7/16/2017

Oncor electric

I am writing to complain that my spouse steven russell and I moved to miami and the home was sold november 2013. He made many attempts to login online but that was closed and he couldn't access any information. At the same time, I was in the hospital here in miami for an entire year! I was and still am very ill! As you can imagine my husband had extreme stress over my life threatening condition. We knew the house sold and asked what else we needed to do. We later found out from our credit report of it showing past due so we just paid it. I was so ill and still am. All we have asked is to remove all negative credit reporting as we paid it off. Then, not only did thy not do that, they said that we still owed that money and faxed it to our mortgage underwriter, the loan originator, and our realtor and banker. Thus making it from a late payment to an outright lie and defammtion of character!
Then, they sent us a statement for a ms. Kimberly webb showing her late payment to us! There was no disregard and destroy attached to it! She's delinquent and it's now been illegally distributed!
We simply want this fixed and kimberly webb's information taken back from those that they sent it to and for her to be notified. What have they distributed about us and to whom?
They are violating the law and have no appreciation off my spouse paying a bill that we weren't really responsible for while my medical bills were and are currently through the roof because I m permanently and totally disabled. Can they please do the right thing and just remove it since we did pay and all they can seem to do is lie and have no concern for anyone's rights with disabilities and false information and distributing this to so many people and now they are doing this to a ms. Kimberly webb.

Oncor electricity

I have asthma and i'm pregnant. It is not ok to ignore outages for hours and hours. No one has been out to investigate the outage and you cannot speak to a human without being transferred multiple times. They never know why the outage occurred and never know an estimated time of restoration. If I wanted to live without electricity, I would live in a 3rd world country! Seriously, this company needs to go away. We shouldn't be forced to deal with one company because of our location.

Oncor incompetence lack of response

This has been an ongoing issue for many years to the point that I have seriously considered moving simply to no longer be forced to have oncor as my electric provider. 10 hours is a lightning fast response time in oncors book and I watch my neighbors two miles down the road have their power restored sometimes in less than an hour from the co-op. We have lost electricity at 9 in the evening and literally not had an oncor lineman show up until after they had breakfast the following morning (and mind you this happened when there was no severe weather). Oncor is in my book the absolute worst company period! In the slim chance you do actually get to speak to someone on the phone they are rude and arrogant and their field personnel are absolutely lazy. Average restoration time is 24 hours to 30 hours. Ridiculous ridiculous!

Oncor Poor maintenance

Five times in the past 8 years I have lost one leg of power to my house. Each time, the string a cable over my yard and come back to crimp a new connection on a bad wire. It lasts about a year and fails again, in the winter. The last time I was told they would replace the cable. Nothing doing! I have no heat and it's below 25 outside, forced to leave my house and pay for a hotel when i'm paying exorbitant price for very poor maintenance and service. The worst is, they don't care and put an answering machine on their line, then get to it whenever they feel like it. My time for repair has changed twice by more than 8 hours. It's getting ridiculous! I'm filing with the public utilities commission. Do your job! A-holes!

Oncor inconsistent statements

To everyone concerned;

I did not want to pay extra for a smart meter when they started coming out. I
Was informed many times of the benefits of having a smart meter. I was
Told the smart meter would inform oncor when my electricity was out. No one would have to call
To report the outage. I was told it was an insurance policy.

One of my nearest neighbors lives 1, 500 ft from me.
He watches my house and knows to call oncor if my guard light goes out
While I am out of town. Everyone in my neighborhood knows I do not trust
My frozen food to my smart meter and oncor if my electricity goes out.

Long story short, I left town on may 6, 2014 and returned
May 13, 2014. It appears my electricity went out on may 8, 2014 at
Approximately 9:30am. My neighbor was also out of town. When he
Returned home he noticed my electricity was off and called oncor on
May 13, 2014 at 8:58am, five days after my electricity went out.
Either I had a faulty smart meter or oncor ignored the message sent. I
Have received at least six different accounts from oncor concerning my
Outage. On one of the accounts they stated they replaced my meter on may
12, 2014. If that is the case why is my meter showing 39798 instead of 0,
And why did I not get electricity restored until after my neighbor called in on
The 13th? Also on more than one of oncor’s accounts they stated they knew
My electricity was off on the 8th but mine was low priority and all
Workers were busy restoring electricity to areas north and east of here.

I have four freezers. With the price of beef going
Up, I filled three of the freezers full and kept the fourth
One for a spare before my vacation. I also have a $1, 000.00 generator to keep my freezers
Cold in case of a major power disruption, but no one knew it needed to be
Manually started. I took some
Photos of and listed some of the thawed food. My loss is over $1, 900.00.
Oncor sent me a letter, “oncor … cannot prevent …” “…no negligence
On the part of oncor electric delivery appears to be involved...”

I admit that oncor cannot prevent outages but i
Believe they are negligent in not restoring power for five
Days. I am paying extra for a smart meter to notify oncor of the outage,
But what good is it if oncor neglects the ‘message’ sent? This should never
Have happened and I do not want it to happen again to me or anyone else. I have been paying my ‘insurance’
Premiums and want to be reimbursed for my loss.

A
Friend of mine lives a couple of miles from me.
He and his neighbor lost electricity a few months ago. They were the only ones in the area to lose
Power. They continued calling for 48
Hours before they got power. How many
Others have lost food?

Thank you

Oncor oncor

My father just moved into a new condo and we have been going through hell trying to get oncor to realize that the lights are not working. I called the retail provider and they are showing that the lights have been connected on their end, however they are not working... The house is d-a-r-k! Will you all please send someone out to see... There is obviously a problem. I called oncor several times and their telephone reps. Are saying, "we show the lights have been connected". Again, I argue with these people to let them know that they are wrong! Please someone from oncor, help!

Oncor refused to fix fence gate satisfactorily

Oncor rang my doorbell about 2 weeks ago as they needed to read the meter in my back yard. I told the person to wait and let me get a key to unlock the gate. The service person pushed open the gate (which is the width of a one car driveway and damaged the gate before I returened with the key. I complained about the damage - he took a picture of it and left. I had oncor people out today to look at the damage. Their offer was to attach a board to the brick house and secure the gate with that. They made no offer to actually repair or replace the damaged gate. I have contacted them again and have been told this is all they will do. This is not a fair way to take care of something the oncor service person caused to happen.
