Olive Garden bad food

I was a big fan for Olive Gardens for a number of years, this all ended February 14th 2011, and yes that’s right Valentine’s Day. Your restaurant made a romantic meal in to the worst dining experience EVER!
My wife ordered Seafood Alfredo, and I ordered Pear & Gorgonzola Ravioli with shrimp, with salad and bread sticks.
We requested our dressings on the side and was will to pay for extra olives, the salad came to the table pre-dressed with a dressing neither of us ordered, this was taken away and replaced, this time without olives, when the olives arrived they were frozen solid, after a short argument to what is frozen and what is chilled they were replace with what I would call microwaved this made the olives taste similar to turpentine, I asked for some Olive Oil and herbs to have with my bread, after what seemed like hours the waiter arrived with an empty bottle of oil and no herbs, another waiter noticed this error and did her best to fix it. Then the bread rolls arrived these were so salty it almost made me choke, well after all this the main course arrived, the Seafood Alfredo, the pasta was over cooked the shrimp was small and the scallops were the size of peas and required a search party to find them. The Pear & Gorgonzola Ravioli with shrimp, this sounded like a wonderful dish, what I got looked nothing like the picture or description, the sauce was so watery and tasteless, the shrimp was so small I think you should rename them Flea, the Ravioli was over cooked and the pear was cold. At this point I was so angry that I got up and wanted to leave, this was not how I wanted a romantic dinner to end.
The only good that came out of my day was a manager called David Davis, who refunded my meal and said that he was sorry. My final comment is that while Olive Garden will not go out of business by loosing me as a loyal customer, during the course of my day I meet a number of people and if asked where is a good place to eat your restaurant will not be on my list of places to send anyone.

Lol... you, the complainer, are exactly the kind of person that people like me, who work at the Olive Garden, hate and make fun of every day. You sound like the type of person who will always find something to complain about. The world owes you a living, huh baby. Valentine's Day is the single busiest day of the year for us. And it SUCKS. the kitchen is backed up and behind by at least a half an hour, some servers are so stressed that they break down and cry or shake or curse when they leave the dining room, and the hosts are all trying to mantain composure while we deal with stupid ignorant people yelling at us because they think we are making them wait longer than they think we said it would be. It's not our fault when your party of 3 turns into a 7 and we can't get you in in 40 minutes. Sometimes yes we do go over quote, but it's not a science, it's an educated guessing game! How are we supposed to know which tables will leave in an hour, and which will camp there for 2 and a half? We make the best judgement we can and HOPE that the other guests will leave so we can seat you in time.

Our shrimp and scallops for the Seafood Alfredo have always been the same size. And like uni said, we aren't the freakin Macaroni Grill. We don't even have fresh garlic or herbs just laying around in the back, we pre-make everything, and yes if you ask for olive oil for dipping you are going to get plain olive oil because THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE. I regret your sauce ended up watery, it just happens sometimes, and the manager comped your meal. What more do you want? As for the salad, when it's busy we have a salad person making all the salads, the servers are up to the mercy of how much dressing they end up throwing quickly onto the salad. In all the business you server prob forgot to ask the salad person for your special request, or the salad person forgot, or maybe their english was poor and they didn't understand. You have no idea how many little things have to go right in order for a dining experience to be absolutely perfect.

We try as hard as we can. And sometimes things go wrong. Sometimes it's the server's fault, sometimes it;s the kitchen's fault, sometimes things just happen. Sometimes the guest is wrong because they don't know how to effectively communicate what they want. I guess my point is, you're not the only one to have things go wrong at an Olive Garden, but there are actually a lot of REAL loyal customers who have mostly wonderful experiences. it is truly a great restaurant, a great place to work, and incredibly clean environment... The only downside is that when it is busy, things fall apart sometimes, and there are some truly horrible customers who I would never wish on any restaurant anywhere. Because of a certain total freak of a lady, I stopped serving and went to just hosting for a long time. Serving pays more, but because I grew to hate certain customers so much, I couldn't stand it. I took the pay cut.

Sorry about the random rant... but I defend my restaurant when I know we are awesome and always dedicated to making the customer happy. Tho there are people who will NEVER be pleased.

The shrimp and scallops have been the same size for the last 5 years I've been there. The number has been identical each time too. The ravioli was over cooked but the pear was cold? The pear is in the ravioli so I guess it's possible they ran out of ravioli and didn't allow them to thaw completely before boiling but that's unlikely considering on V-day we overprep everything. Why didn't they bring your oil and spices? Because we aren't Carrabbas or Macaroni Grill. We give you bread sticks with garlic salt and butter. They give you bread with oil and spices. You want dipping sauce order alfredo (which I'm sure you love considering your meal selection). Can't explain frozen olives. They go from a can in the back to a pan on ice. How was your seafood alfredo sauce? Because it's identical to the sauce on your ravioli yet you didn't complain about that. You want bigger shrimp ask for grilled shrimp. And the picture clearly and accurately shows the size of the shrimp and scallops in the dish. Finally, your meal was free, you came to OG for Valentines Day, a complete embarrassment in my opinion which clearly shoes your unwillingness to treat your wife to an expensive dinner she assumingly deserves. Next year go to the store, buy parmesan, butter, cream, garlic, the biggest shrimp and scallops they have ($13 a lb most likely) a box of fettucini, bag of salad, tomato, olives, whatever dressing you claim you didn't get and make the meal yourself. Guaranteed you'll spend more than the $30 you could have spent at OG, but I'm sure it'll taste delicious.

Obviously you weren't such a "loyal" customer if you are never going back due to ONE bad experience. Not to mention it was on their busiest day of the year. The manager did the best he could to address the problem in giving your money back and apologizing for the bad experience.

Olive Garden bad service, spill things on customers

well i had a bad experience here. the server sara she ended up spilling sauce all over me and didnt care to do anything to wipe it off. it was a bad experience. this is a good restaurant and service is very good but sometimes some of the servers are just ridiculous. How can someone spill sauce all over a customer and not even care. She in fact was almost ridiculing me and smiling and seemed glad she did it. It was all over my jeans and the seat and she didnt even clean it off. then she almost did it again by pulling a bowl out from under me, and almost getting my arm soaked in it. Let's mess up one thing with another i guess...it was upsetting. It wasnt good service at all and I hope servers like that learn to treat people with respect. the management was very nice though...and did everything to make it better

really? you're sure she wasn't...and how would you know stealth..you're some loser and ### who sits here commenting on half the posts it seems. First off, get a life and stop giving your -5 sense here...you have no common sense and are blatantly stupid and repulsive, and no one is interested in your ignorant nonsense. Also she didnt jsut spill it on me, she did on the seat and expected me to clean up the seat, which is what I was talking about. And its a server's job to clean up a spill, or do something about it at least not just walk off. And no I would never spill something on someone and barely apologize and leave them sitting in pasta sauce, that would be appalling, but im sure you would since you seem very mean, ignorant, and a total ###. You don't know what you're talking about and only say the wrong thing to make people look bad. Get help fast because you are so rude and stupid it's pathetic...

Olive Garden small dish

I order the seafood alfrado, and my husband ordered shrimp premivara and the amount on the dish was very small compaired to what we are used to gettting at the olive garden. We had a guest with us and she also ordered the shrimp premivara. We were very embarrassed. We mentioned it to the waiter and he brushed us off without answering. We are not big eaters and are every thing on our plates and were still not full. In the seafood Alfrado there were only four very small Shrimp and four small scallops on the plate. Very disapointed at this Olive Garden.

Olive Garden food poisoning: stuffed mushrooms!!

Ate the stuffed mushroom appetizer, no drinks other than water and have been sick, dizzy, unable to eat, sleeping 18+ hours and vomiting when awake for 48 hrs after eating this appetizer at your restaurant 2 days ago.

Tried to reach the restaurant where I ate, but the only contact info is in the headquarters Orlando, FL office, where their office hours are brief and unavailable to warn about this poison tonite.

Saw doctor today and going to see another for more bloodwork tomorrow to get to the bottom of this. Calling attorney once we have the results back from the toxin testing.

Please be so careful eating anything other than pasta and non-meat sauce at Olive Garden. And DON'T drink the wines they push, push push. Go to your favorite home or grille beforehand and enjoy. Their wines are not that tasty and cost you a fortune. You'll easily drop $100+ for 4 folks if you buy their wine with dinner.

Never again.

i totally agree with Harpeville... Sounds like a snap judgement to post this. And out of curiousity, you made a point of saying that you only drank water, then ranted about the price and poor quality of the wine.. is that a side note or tasting the same night? something doesn't add up. And suggesting that you drink elsewhere beforehand kind of alludes to you drinking somewhere before, then only drinking water at OG... possible to have picked it up there?

But did your doctor specifically find the cause of food poisning to be from olive Garden? if the medical report doesn't specifically say OG, then you are wrong to accuse them.

What would I do? Ask Og to look at their mushroom supply. What would I not do? Accuse a business without conclusive evidence!

You are still having medical tests to determine the cause of your illness. I really think you jumped the gun in posting this. You should have waited till you had the conclusive medical evidence that the illness was caused by food from OG.

Olive Garden - bad bad nasty food

I have eaten at concord olive garden many times. This visit was 8 people for a b/d party, realling bragging on it with people moved here from Texas. They brought food out on a plate of TRASH, YES TRASH. It had under the food toothpick, sugar packets and plastic off straws. They had used a plate of nasty trash and threw the food over it. Gonna take this to...

Olive Garden bad service

On June 7th, 2010 I was taken my 3 kids to olive garden in Arlington, Texas @ around 6pm {Cooper & I20} because my little girl is only 5 years old and she loved the Calamaries from there and no where else NOT even Macaroni & Grills or Johnny Carinos. We went there every week and for all ocasions. I have never experienced bad service before.

Our server names was Jessica, She is so rude with lots of attitude kind of being racist. Everything we said, she is like "huh huh speak up I have troubling understanding or hearing you.. this is her exact word" never check back on us see how are we doing. When we asked for more salad and breadstick she is like the salad refilled are $3.00 but we never come across this before. All the table around us got their offer on Salad and Breadstick not like I can't paid for $3.00 but it's the principle is count. I always give 20% tips because I know that people work hard with not much of paid just depends on the tips they make. All I know are customer satisfaction are very important.

What make me mad was she can't even gave me a small marianara sauce to go for my sampler. She just bring me a container and tell me to get it from whatever left over on my table and said we do not give it out for free. Im not asking for a big portion just a bit and she said no.

Manager on duties are not helpful @ all. I feel like being treated unfair and she is being discrimated because we are Asian.

Our small community experienced a horrible tragedy today as one of our neighbors lost a son in a horrific accident. We wanted to buy the family a dinner that we could pick up from your Bend, Oregon location and then we would deliver the meal to a family of 10 grieving people. I called the Olive Garden and explained that I needed help in trying to pick a meal that would help the family avoid having to be concerned about feeding everyone.

The General Manager, Tina Anthony, spoke with me and was exceptionally helpful and understanding. After I placed the order she said Olive Garden was pleased to donate the meal as a showing of support for the family. I was completely taken aback. I intended to pay for 100% of the meal and her unsolicited offer of community support was more than I could imagine. She explained that Olive Garden is part of the same community I was and this was Olive Garden's showing of sympathy. Absolutely unexpected and moreover, so generous in this day and age that I had to thank Olive Garden for such a community policy and for General Managers such as Tina Anthony. What a treasure.

I insisted on paying but when I picked up the meal for 10. I was told it was $64, well below its fair or advertised value. It was explained that Tina donated some of the meal anyway. Today we are all experiencing in-fighting and suspicion between various groups. It is quite disheartening. This genuine gesture of kindness to is to be applauded. Tina was a star and the whole episode was terrific and lightened the load of this family. I was an Olive Garden "Frequent Flyer" before, but now I am a die hard supporter

I have one complaint. You do not have a place where you can send positive comments. That is unfortunate. Please acknowledge receipt of this compliment so that it is not lost and let me know that it has been sent on to the highest levels of the Company. This is truly an extraordinary corporate policy and it was beautifully implemented, with genuine heart and concern, by Tina Anthony. Thank you.

Last Saturday, Jan. 20th, my husband and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner. We have recently started going to Olive Garden after many years of absence due to poor quality and service. We had a 20 minute wait which was no problem. We sat in the bar and had a glass of wine.

When we were seated, we sampled some of your house wines and placed our order for dinner. I had my favorite, stuffed chicken marsella (sp?) and my husband had his usual, spaghetti and Italian sausage. Our waitress was new but very nice and our salad came right away. However, after 2 bites of salad, out dinner was served. Needless to say, we were disappointed and irritated that the main course was served so soon. Also, my “stuffed” chicken had absolutely nothing between the layers of chicken and it was also on the cold side. It was not the same an previous orders. The waitstaff didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong and hurried on to help other tables.

I realize it was a busy night due to the fact there were 2 birthday parties going on at the same time. However, I have been associated with the restaurant business for over 30 years and know this is not acceptable as an excuse.

I guess I can sum it up by letting you know how disappointed we were. We were hoping things had changed at Olive Garden. Perhaps not?

The Redding Olive Garden is 90% of the time horrible! You pay good money for bad service. Almost everytime my husband and I go there we get out food before we even have time to finish our salad! All you can eat they advertise, well unless you want your main entree cold, you can't even finish the first salad. You never get more bread sticks until you have already finish your main entree! Why can't they automatically bring out bread sticks WITH your dinner! Our waitress last night (8/7/9) was busy talking it up with some other customers while we were waiting for more salad and bread sticks and of course our main entree was served by yet another waiter, where the hell did he come from? I love their food, but the Redding Olive Garden sucks. I have eaten at other ones and they are wonderful for service and getting you what you want when you want it. I hope the Redding, CA manager reads these complaints.

My 16 year old son take his girlfriend out to the olive garden for her birthday. They both order pasta, my son orders a salad with no dressing and his date orders one with dressing they bring the one with dressing but he never sees another salad come out. Also they bring the bread sticks out, but never return to the table except to leave the ticket for them. This was almost a $30.00 meal and also a special occasion that basicly went bad all becasue they had a bad waitress. I would hope that we would get a gift card from them for this bad experience.

Arrived at Olive Garden and was seated by a very nice young lady and fifteen minutes later no one had taken my order for a drink or food. In this day and age money is tight and I will not be back to a restaurant with such poor service with a very good italian restaurant two blocks away. After fifteen minutes we got up and left and went elsewhere, the aforementioned "other"restaurant" where our order was taken in two minutes.

@GWM: You expect free refills on salad but only want to pay for ONE meal. If you have to split a meal you are a tightwad and/or not hungry. Either way, don't expect unlimited salad for everyone even if they ordered nothing. IT SAYS IT RIGHT ON THE MENU ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR SALAD ON SPLIT MEALS! The server heard what you ordered and cringed inside because it means double the work for half the money and ### and moaning from the cheap ### table. I hate people like you. Olive Garden poor service

Our server, Whitney, stood 5 feet from the table as if she was repulsed by us, going over the 2nd menu of specials. We couldn't hear her at all. This was very strange as we are clean, neat people. She did not check on us at all during the meal. She took our plates away before we were done eating. I wish we could have finished our meal, since we paid for it.

Exactly... why didn't you say you weren't finished eating. She definitely should have asked before taking your plate away, but you really should have said something...

Also... why do you jump to the conclusion that she was repulsed by you? Maybe she forgot to brush her teeth that day... or maybe she was new... or jusy shy... or both

Olive Garden manager was not professional

we went out to dinner to olive garden.
we were 8 persons.
there werent too many costumers that night.
we had our table, the waitress and also manager took our order.
she got us the bread first a couple of plate, 15 minutes later she got us one bowl of salad for 8 people, but no salad plates.
so, only 3 of us ate salad.
we never got more salad, we got the rest of the salad plates tough.
so, more than 30 minutes past and we were hungry and impacient, so we needed our bill.
the manager brought the bill.
she charged us 8 drinks and $5.60 per person for the salad, salad that only 3 people ate.
the total was $66 for 8 cokes and a bowl of salad!
service was terrible and the manager was not professional at all.
what a bad experience.
i bet that salad was like $3.00 from sysco!
if anyone know how to let the regional manager knows about the incident i will apreciate it!

That is absolutly correct $5.60 for 8 people is $44.80 . For ALL YOU CAN EAT SALAD AND BREAD STICKS... and if everyone got drinks its about $2.80 per person which is $22.40 for 8 ALL YOU CAN DRINK ... SODA, TEA, or what ever you ordered...which comes out to $67.20... your lucky they didnt put the 18% gratuity then it would have been more..you would have complaned about that too ... WE WATCH OUR TABLES AND IF YOU SHARED A SALAD WE WILL CHARGE EACH PERSON THAT EATS IT... AND THATS WHAT THEY DID... DONT GO OUT TO EAT AND PLAN TO GET STUFF FOR FREE

You get free refills on the salad... why didn't you ask for more salad?

Also... the breadsticks should always come out with the salad and soup unless you ask for it ahead of time...

Also... I am sorry to break this to you, but...

I am a server. If I have a table who is just eating soup and salad (or just salad, in your case) and I know it's going to be a cheap tip... and I have two other tables who's bills are raking up, I am going to spend more time and give better service to the tables with the higher bills. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. It's a business. Not that I will ignore my "cheap" tables, but when you are waiting on upwards of 12 people at a time, money talks.

Olive Garden bad service!

I am not sure how they train their servers but our waiter was barely there. Our drinks were brought by the waiter but the food was not. Then a female server felt the need to stand out our table talking to my boyfriend. I am not sure how Oliver Garden is doing their management but it is rather poor from my perspective. It seemed that no one knew where they were supposed to be or what they were supposed to be doing. The food was heavy and mediocre.

At NUMEROUS locations Olive Garden makes people wait unnecessarily even lined up outside regardless of the weather while dozens of tables sit empty. Meanwhile servers are standing around talking or even sitting at tables in another dining room. The attitude is: folks ought to feel "honored" to dine with OG. News stories show sales dropping and dragging the rest of Darden, Inc. but instead of shaking things up guest relations makes excuses and at most apologizes for "inadequate staffing". NONSENSE ! It's the OG culture that says "let's see how many beepers we can give out today" as they make fools of those who wait while
losing more and more people who go elsewhere never to return.

The food at Olive Garden is usually heavy and mediocre. And I am a server there... How come people come to Olive Garden expecting a gourmet meal. It's not. The majority of the food is pre-packaged. You get what you pay for. I think the food is decent, but it also depends on what entree you order. Also... you get free refills of bread, soup, and salad. That is a pretty good deal, no matter what the food is like.

As for your food being brought out by someone else... I wish Olive Garden would put out an advertisement about WHY this is... It isn't BAD service when someone else brings out your food. It's GOOD service. It means your food is being brought out IMMEDIATELY after it's made and it's not sitting under some heat lamp. If your server is busy getting soup and salad for table A and table B has food ready to be taken out, a different server who might be standing around with nothing to do at the moment will bring out the food for table B so you get it hot and fresh.

In really upscale restaurants, servers NEVER bring out the food. The restaurant employs food runners who's only job is to take food to the tables. The servers are there to bring drinks and make sure you are enjoying your meal and to be the mediator between the customer and the kitchen.

Olive Garden bad service

So regular friday night dine out with my wife, we decided to go italian. Great so we went to the olive garden.

Everything was great `till some manager how`s mane is `shalom` came over to our table and asked us how the meal was? He was staring at my wife breast and ask her if she was enjoying the meal! Normally I would go crazy but I did not wanted to ruin the night!

I dined at your restaurant in Florida and I ordered a beer with my food. I was dining with my 10 year old daughter. I went to the washroom after I had eaten my meal and when I returned I found my daughter drinking my beer. What kind of restaurant allows someone under the age of 21 to drink? I wonder how many employees went past my daughter and did not stop her from drinking. For those of you who don't live in the US the legal age of drinking is 21. My daughter was too young to drink and yet none of the employees who saw her asked her to stop. Just shows you how Olive Garden lacks care and concern about their diners". Sure they ask for ID when a person looks like they are under the age of 21!. However they clearly knew that my daughter was under the age of 21 and should not have drank my beer". This clearly shows that the employees need retraining". We are not talking about a teenager here who could pass for 21 we are talking about a 10 year old girl who clearly looks young.. Someone who isn't even in Junior High?. Why did none of the employees stop her". Clearly I should have enough faith in mankind to do something to stop a child from drinking, . I guess it is not safe for a parent to use the washrrom at Olive Garden.

Okay, first two people are stupid. I agree with karleebarlee- you might have just misread where he was looking. Of course, if he really was looking... while that makes him a perv, it's unrealistic to think that he's the only guy in the world dirty enough to look at your wife, especially if she's well-endowed or wearing shirts that show cleavage. Just brush it off, and if it happens again, consider getting your wife new tops.

Olive Garden hair in soup

A friend and I were having soup and salad at Olive Garden. She noticed a curly gray hair floating on top of my soup. I notified the waiter, who in turn notified the manager. The manager appeared at our table and I told him of the hair. The waiter had removed my soup. I asked the manager if his kitchen employees were not required by health laws to cover hair, whether it be head or face. He remarked that cover is provided. He never agreed that health law requires it. And he made no apology for the hair in the soup! I thought surly he would adjust my tab but when it was delivered, there was no adjustment. No more Olive Garden for me! Later I was talking with someone who works in this particular Olive Garden in Mobile, Alabama. He told me that no one in the kitchen abides by the health laws concerning covering hair unless they know that the health department is due to make an inspection. Perhaps I should call the health department.

I work for OG and the cook staff ALWAYS wear hair nets. Also, the kitchen doesn't have anything to do with Soup and Salad outside of prep. The SERVER has to do all the work of getting the soup and salad together.

Well I have worked for Olive garden for over 10 years now and worked at 6 different locations. I have never seen any cook staff without hair nets at any of the locations that I have previously worked at. I have actually seen customers put hair on their food on purpose in order to get free meals.

I am so sorry to ear about the problem you had with the hair in your soup. I would like to say that in the 20 years I have managed restaurants. I have handled many of these complaints. Kitchen staff always wear a hat of some sort to restrain their hair. I sincerely believe that in a majority of the time, the hair is gets on the food somewhere between the kitchen and your table. How many customers did that plate pass to get to your table. Any customer scratching, shaking or combing their hair could gave been responsible. It amazes how many guest find a long blond hair in food and blame my short haired Hispanic cooks. Please give them another try.

Being known as "cheap" and "frugal" are not positive terms to be associated with.

I just signed up for their newsletter. You're emailed confirmation that you did indeed sign up for the newsletter, and there is nothing you need to click in that email to confirm the subscription. Nor were there any rogue wikipedia re-directing links on the sign up page. ###.

Olive Garden - cold food, management

Valentines Day nightmare. I ordered a steak and my wife ordered the kabobs. Both were to be cooked medium. When the food arrived the waiter carefully removed hers from the skewers, asked us to try our food and asked how they were. We both cut into them and they were both medium. My wife however noticed that hers was warm on the surface, but cold in the...
