Help! My home is going to sheriff's sale today. I'm alone, 64 and have been trying to reach a real person who has a first and last name and lives in the usa and has a title.
It's like going to a hospital and they introduce a doctor as "dr. B" and he refuses to give last name.
How can they do that? And why?

They gave me the name of a man to call with a first and last name.. When first contacted he refused to give his last name... Only "jxxx c". He didn't realize we already knew it...
But getting info back and forth has been difficult. A letter we sent certified he said he never received... Said he only looks at mail that comes through his fax. Great!! We've never been able to fax anything to him... Doesn't pickup.
He set up a "hardship" mortgage for 3 years... Finally got a faxed copy of the agreement yesterday... But I don't have $5700 to send them... And what's it for?? Reading through it I see that i'm not allowed to sell or re-mortgage without their permission and they can basically add any fees they want and I would have no recourse.
My home is worth about $700, 000 to $800, 000... My mortgage has gone from $258, 000 to over $400, 000 in 3 years... Based on 12%, 13% I got stuck with from an arm.
They know I have equity in my place. Agreed, I have made a mess of things in the past... And I recently had a man "help" me deal with the bank... He had the false idea that this was a regular bank that one could sit down and talk with... (It's been suggested that he delayed everything on purpose so that he could go and buy my place himself)... I don't know.
What I do know is that I can't postpone this sheriff's sale today, november 20, that I will have lost between $300, 000 to $400, 000, the only home i've ever know for 64 years, my income (I have 3 rentals)... I. E i'd be homeless, moneyless and no income.
Yesterday I had $2000 to wire to them plus to fax the agreement though I feel it's unfair... But they insisted on $5700...
I was told the bank will probably buy my home and re-sell it. Of course! They'll make money on it.
In the next 3 hours i'm going to call everyone I can to see if I can get another month and be able to discuss the mortgage papers myself.
