Oakwood Inn / Fraud and cheating

On Saturday, June 2, 2007, I checked into the Oakwood Inn in Oakdale, Louisiana @ 9:54pm. I called ahead to confirm that there was availability of a handicap room. I am a very large woman and have to use a shower hose for bathing purposes; that was my reason for requesting the handicap room.

When I got to the Inn, It was pouring down raining, I was tired and ready to go bed. The young man at the desk was helpful. He gave me the card-key for the door, I had him to double-check the card to assure that it was working because I did not want to have to come back to the front desk, in the rain. Just as sure as I got to the room to try to get in, the card-key did not work, I was very upset by then, I had to go back to the front desk, in the rain and have him reactivate the card. He sent a lady to open the door for me with what she called a 'Master Card'. When I finally got in the room, I went on to sleep.

When I woke up the next morning to take a shower, it is then that I realized that the shower was not working, I was furious by then. Here I am standing in the middle of the tub, naked, too big to sit down for a bath, I was really upset. I had somewhere to be and did not want to put back on my clothes and go to the front office. So I got the ice-bucket and proceeded to take a wash-off, using the ice-bucket to rinse the soap off my body, and on top of that, the water was draining out the tub slowly, so I'm standing in dirty water, trying to get myself clean. I was furious!

I got dressed and went to the front desk to check out. I asked for the manager, the lady at the front desk said that he was not in but that she was next in line under him and that she could help me. I told her what the problem was, she gave me a business card and wrote the name of the manager on the back and told me to give him a call. I told her to please inform him of my situation so that he will know what I'm referring to when I call him.

Today is Tuesday and I've attempted to contact the manager several times, but to no avail, nothing but excuses for him. I have left all my contact information, but has not been contacted. I feel that if I have to pay $68.39 for a dis-service, I should be recompensed in some manner.

So, I hope this complaint let others be aware that when you check into a hotel/motel, do check everything to make sure that it is in working order. Even though they are the only lodging in Oakdale, I will definitely not be staying there anymore. I will be willing to make the drive to a neighboring town for better service.
