NYC Housing Authority [NYCHA] - huge hole in the kitchen wall and no sink or stove

I have a number of maintenance issues that have not been addressed. I use the call center hot line to request make request for housing repairs and minor repairs such as unclogging toilets and sinks are always handled in a timely matter. However, issues such as the peeling plaster, peeling paint, and broken floor tiles have not been addressed. My apartment is infested with cockroaches and this is due to the constant leaking of a pipe that connects the bathroom shower and kitchen sink. This pipe that I speak of in particularly has been an issue since I moved into the apartment in 2005. The plaster from the wall began peeling about 6 months after I moved in. Housing repaired it then and I was pleased until 6 months later the plaster began peeling again and that is when the roaches began invading my home. I have used roach bombs, all sorts of chemicals that reek havoc on my allergies and trigger my asthma. I have tried to get this plaster issue repaired since 2010 and no one has come to repair it. Unfortunately, that leak which I mentioned earlier has now caused the entire kitchen cabinet to fall off the wall just barely missing falling on my daughter.
I now have a huge hole in the middle of my kitchen which is giving off a very foul smell. This smell has been causing my throat to burn and my allergies are so out of control. My eyes keep getting this mucus build up in the corners. I am worried because my two younger children will be returning from their summer vacation in california from their visit with their father and I for one hope health wise this will not effect them and two I hate the fact that they have to return home to the kitchen in this condition. It has now been three days and I see no effort from the housing managers to come out and observe these conditions which are not livable and I can certainly not cook or do anything in the kitchen for that matter. The food that was in the cabinets are now in plastic bags which we have to store in the living room.
I feel that there is a lack of concern and a major disconnect from the housing managers and tenants. I have pictures of all of the issues that have yet to be addressed in my home and it really bothers me that I pay my rent and I do all that I can to keep not only my apartment clean but often I mop the entire floor because the maintenance workers only focus on mopping the lobby and god only knows when they clean the staircases. I am looking to take my story the daily news, help me howard and the post. I have pictures and copies of the tickets that have not been completed as of yet. I hope that someone will contact me soon with some information on how re!Solve this issue.

I am a single mother raising my children on my own. Although I was a teenage parent I knew from the very beginning that I would have to work hard to defy the odds for me and my children. I completed school on my own, I received my bachelors degree with honors from the college of new rochelle in 2009. I was a full time student and full time working parent. I attended all parent teacher conferences and I volunteered and attended special school functions when I was able to do so. As a youth director, I come across parents and children that make excuses for why they don't work or continue their education. Just because we live in housing or "the projects" doesn't mean that we can't work hard and do better for out family. I will begin my masters in spring 2014 at hunters silberman school for social work. I was excepted to nyu school for social work. So I know that hard work pays off. When people meet me they don't even know that I live in housing because its housing is only a state of mind. To me housing is my home and it has been a stepping stone. One day I want my own home with a porch and a yard. Until then I will continue to work hard and push and inspire my children to do better.
I am proud of my children for all they have accomplished thus far. My oldest daughter has just began her freshman year of community college. My youngest daughter will be a sophomore this year in high school and she dreams of going to an historical black college in atlanta. My son will be attending the second grade this year. I am teaching my children to defy the odds and never make excuses for where you are from because its all about where you are going.
I just want to continue being the best parent that I can be and right now I need help rectifying this situation.
