I am being scammed by Columbia Residential and NWP Services Corporation. I moved into a brand new apartment less than a year old. First water bill $77. Second water bill $89. Third water bill $224. They claim the water and sewage rate is metered. It is not because I have actually been using less water and even turned the water off to the toilet. This should be illegal.

We live in a Greystar owned apt. complex in SE Denver (Summitt Ridge). I accidentally opened TWO NWP bills (one placed in error by the postman) which were in my mailbox. One bill $89 (ours); the other?
$59! I didnt notice the recipient name until after opening and seeing the (lower) amount. The lower bill was that of our cross-hall neighbors who routinely have 6, 7, 8 or more people living/visiting there..while we are two people living very efficiently...Have spoken with our mgrs office here on site and called NWP as well; both parties say to speak to the other; classic runaround. They both site some nebulous "ratio" method base on sq footage and # of occupants...if this is so, why do we get a higher bill with fewer occupants? Units arent individually metered. Graft! Will be investigating with municipal authorities and hopeful to get just resolution in this.

Regarding admin fees, imposed by NWP:
NJ State Department of Community Affairs classifies Administrative Fees for any recipient of "Section 8" as illegal -
"In reviewing the billing format it shows that an "Administrative Service Fee" is being charged along with the gas usage. Please be aware that this fee is not allowed and must be removed from the bill. If it is found that this charge si being used, the owners will be liable for an assessment of a civil penalty and may be forced to reimburse these fees to all billed parties." (letter is sent from Section 8 to landlord on May 16, 2017) New Jersey State.

NWP's is the new owner of my APTS Complex here in Memphis TN. and they started to mailing out the Rent notices with water and sewer listed. I just didn't think it was fair for us to pay water Bills from MLGW and another from the owners. The Rent were the shocker for me I have 1 BD and the Rent were $720 plus water and sewer., I signed a new lease with a $79 dollar Rent increase, I was in shock to say the lease I never had a $79 increase and I lived in California for 40 years from Oakland to Los Angeles. When I told one of the manager in office she said they were trying to keep up with other APTS, I old her they need to do some work on these Apts. But I am looking for a new place now that I found all this information regarding NWP. .

I'm getting scammed too! Only mine is over the "Electricity Processing Fee." I signed a lease on Dec 7 because if I waited, the amount of the rent would go up. I did not move in until Dec 11, a Thursday, because that was my day off from work. I did not even step foot into the new apartment until the evening before I moved in. I had to keep the electric on at my old apartment because I had to thoroughly clean to try to get my security deposit back (I didn't get all of it back and the landlord, Jorge Regueiro, refuses to tell me why--illegal) and to do the inspection with the landlord and return the keys on Sunday, Dec 14. I work 10-hour days and the electric company is only available during the time I'm working. I transferred the electric online and had to take a start date of Dec 17. The new apartment is charging an Electricity Processing Fee because I didn't put the electric into my name at the first day of the lease. The bill covered 12/8 - 12/10, $50. I paid it because I was told by NWP that that was all I'd have to pay. Now this month, I got ANOTHER $50 Electricity Processing Fee for 12/11 - 12/16. That's totally unfair because it's just the way the billing fell (or maybe it is contrived), but the manager here will not budge on removing the second $50 charge. DO NOT RENT FROM MARINA LANDING APARTMENTS (GREYSTAR) IN ORLANDO, FL!

This is shady...first water bill for one day...zero water used and zero sewage...but a $9.72 administrative fee? Tried to call the phone # on the bill and the person tried to "give" me a $200. free Walmart card and would not answer my question. Who Gets this Fee? My apartment complex or the water company. I kept asking the question and was hung up on...this is a scam...and now I feel I have to move. At 58 years old, this is not cool! SCAM!

I have to agree. There's something very wrong here. I have analyzed some bills for some people and this looks like a good, strong case for the Attorney Generals office as well as a fraud suit. The patterns make zero sense. Something here really stinks.
