National Tire & Battery [NTB] disappointing service and expensive repercussions

Terrible Service 7/23/2017

Hello,
I was driving home from work when my car stalled . I was able to pull into a public parking lot. I called a tow from my insurance company and my vehicle is now in front of my house.

I have been taking my car to NTB in silver spring MD for the last 6 months (most recent three oil changes). I have now been informed that my transmission fluid was low. So low that my car was not able to drive, forwards or backwards, and I now need a new transmission. My fluids were never topped off, nor checked, when I received oil changes from this NTB.

How disappointing and very inconvenient for my life to be disrupted in this way. I have no other vehicle, I must rely on public transportation or the kindness of others, and now I must come up with thousands of dollars for an issue that could have easily been avoided.

I called the store manager for the NTB in silver spring, mad and was told that he was busy and would return my phone call.

I need this issue to be addressed immediately with the installment of a new transmission on behalf of NTB or reimbursement to myself, for the installment and repair that I will pay out of pocket.

I hope to hear back from a representative very soon.

Regretfully,
Quibilah Barnes

I received service on Tuesday August 11th at the NTB in Capitol Heights, md. I had 2 new
tires placed on the front of my vehicle(Tan, 2010 chevy impala) as well as an oil change.
The same week, thursday August the 13, I heard a faint rattling noise but I didn’t investigate.
But the next day, friday August the 14th, the noise was definitely noticeable. I pulled over to
inspect the front tires and noticed that my hubcap had been broken. Which would explain the
irritating clanking sound while I was driving. No, I didn’t see damage when I’d briefly looked
over my tires after the completion of work, which lead me to believe someone did a temporary
fix so I wouldn’t notice. I called the NTB that friday between 7 and 7:30. I did not get the name
of the sales representative that answered. I asked to speak to the store manager. I was told
that the manager had left for the day. I then asked to speak to the next person in charge,
I assumed the assistant manager. He began to tell me that there was NO manager there at all
and to call back in the morning. A bit annoyed at this point, I told the rep alright and I got the
name of the store manager, Hubert Roxborough. I made a visit the next day, saturday August
15th, around 830 am, to speak with the store manager. I walked in and there were two
representatives helping other customers, so I waited to be addressed. I waited at the counter
for about 15 to minutes. No one acknowledged my presence. Not one “hello, welcome, or
someone will be with you shortly”. Finally the store manager comes out, and speaks to
everyone waiting(by that time 2 more people had arrived) and says he apologizes for the wait
and someone will be with us shortly. He goes in his office for a few minutes, comes out, asks
who’s next, I announce that I was next and I begin to tell him the problem. We walk outside to
my vehicle, he takes pictures, asks me a few questions. He then tells me the technician
comes in at two that day, he will then further investigate and give me a call. Well true to his
word, I got a call at 230 pm the same day. The manager tells me that the technician never
came in and he is going to proceed with ordering a new hubcap for my car and will be in touch
when it arrives. A week has passed and I have not heard back in reference to the arrival of my
part. I make another visit, August the 22nd after 4 pm. I was told that Mr. Roxborough had left
for the day. I asked to speak to the assistant manager and was told, by the assistant manager
to leave my name and number and someone would get back to me. I told him no thank you I
will try again later, and that I would like to speak with the store manager personally. The
associate(the same person I dealt with at the initial service, very pleasant young man), told me
that the manager would be back monday morning. I called monday morning, he was not there
so I had to speak with the assistant manager, Jason Creeden. He got my information, went
into the system and informed me that their were no notes about a part being ordered for my
vehicle. He said that the store manager, Mr.Roxborough, is usually good about these types of
things. Mr.Creedon proceeds to ask a few more questions, tells me he will look to see if they
have an existing part in their store and he will call me back in 15 minutes. I NEVER got a
return phone call. At this point I am beyond agitated. I have called multiple times, I have made
multiple visits. There has been NO action on anyone’s part to resolve this issue. I came in for
a simple oil change and tire replacements and now have to deal with insensitivity and
unprofessionalism. It takes no more than two days for a part to be delivered and I am but a
phone call away. I never argued nor did I raise my voice. All I asked was that my property, that
had been damaged by an NTB employee, be replaced. Along with informing you, NTB, of this
matter I will also be contacting the better business bureau.

Update: I received a new hubcap, after my fourth visit to the NTB in capitol heights, md.

FYI, I have a second complaint with this complaint board, on July 22 2017, for a more recent issue, My transmission failure due to lack of fluid check.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] customer service

NTB 8030 George Bush Turnpike, Plano, Texas

I will never go back to this place! I tried to get the oil changed in my car yesterday. I got there at 4:30 and was turned away because they were closing at 7 and wouldn't be able to get to me. It didn't look that busy to me but ok. So I made an appt for 4:30 today. Got there at 4:15. They said it would be at least an hour even though once again it wasn't busy. So I left my car and came back and hour and a half later and they had not even touched it! No apologies, no explanations, they just didn't give a F _ _ K!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] auto service

I live in Indian Land SC, NTB opened a store near by. I started bringing
my company truck there for oil changes and tire rotation.
They did OK. I like to keep my business in the community if I can so when I wanted the brakes looked at on my show car, a 95 Camaro Z28, I brought that there also. Big, big mistake. I brought it there for a brake judder, not uncommon for a Camaro of that year, car has 58K miles. I figured they could machine the rotors to straighten out the issue. I was told that there was not enough metal and would require new rotors. I believed that and said go ahead.
I also wanted the differential checked for fluid level and viscosity and I was hearing a slight whining that sounded as if it was coming from the rear.
I also wanted a header gasket leak checked out. I was told that it would need new high performance header gaskets since it is a high performance engine I asked if they had anyone that had experience with Hp engines. They said yes they had the best around.
Anyway after four days I called them to see if we're ready it was and so I went to get it.
It sounded better, at least the exhaust header leak was gone. It still had the whining noise from the rear, they said it would go away in time after a few hundred miles since they changed out the Differential fluid.
Keep in mind that these repairs cost over 1300 dollars.
I only drive the car on weekends, so after 7 weeks and 400 miles, the exhaust leak came back worse than before, the whining from the rear never went away and the car is still juddering when you come to a stop.
I brought the car back to the same NTB and told them what was going on. The first thing I am told is that they have no one that can work on the vehicle.
( I have been there about 6'times and have never seen the same face twice. There is a large turnover issue here.
I told him they were responsible to fix what they said they would fix. He referred me to another NTB in Ballantyne, one town to the north. So I brought the vehicle there and explained the situation.
Rick I guess is the Manager. After I dropped it off he called me to let me know they put the wrong gaskets in my car and that he had to order the correct ones.
He just wanted me to know it would not be a one day thing. I told him it was more important to me to have it done right and not quick. He has t even gotten to my other concerns yet.
I hope that NTB will do the right thing here. I am not paying any more money to fix something that I assured was fixed in the first place.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] oil change - ruined my engine

I scheduled an appointment, in advance, to have an oil change done on my car. My appointment was scheduled for Sunday, July 2nd at 2pm at the NTB located at 16517 W 159th St, Lockport, IL 60441. I arrived about 10 minutes early. I waited and waited for someone to come out to help me...the phone was ringing - no one came out to answer, I opened the door several times to sound the door alarm - no one came out. Finally, the person who came to drop me off for my scheduled appointment, drove around to the back and told them that I had been waiting for over 15 minutes for my scheduled appointment. They said they would get the manager. The service manager, Mike, finally came out. He asked when I needed the car by, which I thought was strange because the appointment was pre-scheduled so I didn't think it would have taken that long since they should have been expecting me. He told me it would be done by 5:30. I gave him my correct phone number, again, even though I have given them the updated phone number several times prior. 5:30 comes and goes and I hearing nothing from the store. As it got closer to closing time, I went to the store. I got there about 5:50 and the doors were locked. The service manager opened the door. He said he called and left a message, but I never received a call, I'm assuming they called the wrong number, again. He left for a few minutes? He then pulled my car up front. He apparently could not open the garage. The door was still locked so I had to let him back into the store. I paid for my oil change and left. I thought the whole situation was a bit weird, but I figured maybe he was just having an off day. I drove my car home, I live about 10 minutes away. My car was fine. The next day around 2:00 pm, I got in my car to head out to get somewhere I was supposed to be at 3:00. I noticed right away that the oil light was on. This is the first time I had ever seen this light on my car. I decided to drive up to NTB to see why this was. I got no more than 5 miles and my car died in the middle of the road. I restarted the car and decided to turn around and go home. On my way back home, my car died 3 more times, until finally, it died and would not start again. I called a friend who came to pick me up. We drove up to NTB and I told the service manage, same guy who "helped" me the day before, what happened. He told me to call my insurance company to get it towed up to the store. I said no, I was not going to call my insurance company but that they needed to take care of it. I was irritated that I was asked to get it towed up there. He said he was going to go take a look at the car himself first before he got it towed. I told him where it was located. I went back to where my car was, the car that I had to put into neutral and push to the side of the road since it died in the middle of the street. We waited for about 15 minutes before he got there. When he got there, he popped the hood and realized that there was no oil at all in the car and the oil filter was missing. He said that this may have caused the engine to lock. He asked me if I noticed the oil filter when I left? Really? I told him no, I did not notice the oil filter was missing? I was shocked at his question. He said he was going to have my car towed back to the store and he would call me once they got it there and looked at it. This was at about 3:00. I waited and waited, (at this point I had to cancel where I was supposed to be at 3:00 and was stuck without a car) but no call. I finally called around 7:00 and was told that Mike had left. He never called to let me know what was going on or to let me know that was I not going to get my car back that day. This completely ruined my plans for the night, mind you this was 4th of July weekend. The guy I spoke said he would try to get ahold of him to get him to call me, but if he couldn't, he would have him call me first thing in the morning. No call that night and shocking, no call in the morning. I finally called up there around 9:15. He confirmed that the engine was locked and would need to be replaced. Being the 4th of July, I had plans and needed a car. He said that they would look into reimbursing me for a rental car. I said I refused to pay anything and they were going to need to take care of it. This was a mistake they made, I was not about to pay for a rental car. He said he would see what he could do and get make to me. He called me back a little later and let me know they would not be about to get a rental car that day due to the holiday which I figured. This was frustrating because this should have been dealt with the day before knowing the following day was a holiday. He did say that if I needed to go anywhere, I could use Uber and they would reimburse me. This was a nice offer but still very inconvenient and I had to rearrange my plans for the day. The following day I went back and forth with NTB and the car rental place all day until I finally was able to pick up my rental car around 3pm. This was on Wednesday 7/5. After I picked up the car, I called NTB to let them know I had the rental and to ask what to expect as far as my car is concerned. He said he didn't know how long it would be, he said maybe a week, or a few, or a month. Really? He said he was going to talk to his district manager and he would let me know. That was the last I heard from anyone. No call back, no calls period, no updates. Finally, I called on 7/11 to see what was going on. I was told that service manager Mike was not in but that they would have him call me the next day. Of course, no one called. And this is where I am currently. I have not heard from anyone since 7/5. It has 2 weeks since I dropped off my car. This is beyond frustrating. I completely understand that mistakes happen, but they need to be corrected. This is completely ridiculous. This had been extremely inconvenient. The amount of time and frustration this is causing me is unacceptable.

I would GREATLY appreciate if someone could contact me in regards to this mess. I would like to know what is going on and what is going to be done to correct this situation.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] order # [protected]

My husband made an appointment for 4 new tires, plus balancing alignment, etc. for 3pm 7/13/17 at your Walnut St Cary, NC location. I arrived at 2:30 hoping my car may go in early. I was not assisted until 2:55. Told them I had an appointment, they looked it up - had our wrong last name (not even close) when she gave me the price it was higher than quoted. She then looked at the phone # and gave me the correct price. Said it would be about 2 hours. She was the only one working in the showroom, I said she needed more help, but she said well it's somebodies day off - she didn't mind. The customers however, minded! My car was not put into the bay until 3;30. At 4:30, she said "we have a problem - our computer shows we had 8 tires in stock, but we only had 3 - someone will have to go to another store and bring back a tire" add'l 45 minutes more. When she said it was finally ready, I asked for the rebate form was husband was told about - she said Oh are you paying with the NTB CC? we were never told about having to use the card - she did, credit us the rebate. After 3 hour there, I looked around and asked if there were hidden cameras, as I thought this was Candid Camera, another customer joked and said it was also ridiculous. Another customer came back in after buying tires, and said something was wrong with hers. When I finally left and got on the highway, the alignment is off, and I have to go back (to a different NTB) and spend more time, having them check it. Your waiting room was dirty, wallpaper falling off the wall, dead roaches on the floor, the bathroom was dirty, the phone went unanswered - needless to say, I will not be recommending your store! Terrible experience !

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tires at ntb at the legends in kansas city kansas [protected]

Customer : [protected].

Bought for 4 new tires of Michelin and 18" aluminum wheel. Sales manager we great help at the time of first service. I started noticing when it rained and was driving on the highway I would hydroplane which had never happened to me before. Overtime it rained I'd experience the hydroplaning. Didn't want to drive in the rain. Would look at my tires and thought the tread on the front is different than on the back but thought since I just bought new tires maybe that was the way they should be. I decided 7-1 since I was in at the Legends I'd stop in to have them look at the tires. The gentleman I ask to look was different than when I bought them. I had him look at the tires and he said the problems is the front tires aren't new and I said I didn't have Michelin's before so I didn't understand how that could be. So we went in and he pulled the original order up and so that I did buy all new tires. We had to wait tail he could get hold of the manager before he could make the decision. The manager said check the dates on the tires and they were all different. he said that you bring in a trailer with all the tires and just pull from there. They did put the 2 new tires on the front. I told them that I wasn't happy how this was handled because if I had a wreck my car could of been totaled. My question is how are you going to make this right for all the trouble this has caused. is this the policy to put used tires on the cars even though you paid for all new ones. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I need someone to call at let me how they will make this right.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] ntb

I've filed a complaint against ntb on St. Andrews rd. Cola. Sc 29210 #[protected] I brought my van in for new tires about a year ago costing me $600. Ever since I had problems with my car shaking I've brought it back numerous times my vehicle was fine b4 taking it to them. The last time I brought it back it cost almost $800 they said to fix the problem which was a lie as my car is still shaking. Then they told me I need another $1200.00 worth of work done which is another lie. I just brought my van to someone else today they said work done by ntb is all screwed up. They also said they lied to me about additional work as they checked it out and it's fine. I took my car back to ntb and now the manager is blaming me for this and saying the guy who told me their work wasn't right is a [censor]. I took it by another ntb branch the manager here said he was a [censor] too and so is his brother. The night I had to leave my car with ntb I waited 12 hours in waiting room only to be told the car won't be ready till the next day. My husband picked me up as I was getting some of my things out of car the mechanic and clerk were cursing and screaming at each calling each other the "F" word it was ridiculous we thought we were going to be killed. My husband called and complained the next day. Any bottom line is they messed up my vehicle and tried to continue dismissing about my complaints and many times up there to fix the problem. I went by today and I'm in no mood to play these ridiculous games anymore. I showed him what several others mechanic said they did wrong as well as parts they didn't put back. The manager tells me they don't even know what these things are that are listed. He's mechanic the same then his mechanic takes for a drive and he doesn't feel vibrations only that maybe in my brakes or rotors. I told him he was a liar I just got my oil changed and tires where taken off to look for defects in case that was the source they looked over my whole vehicle brakes and rotors they are all fine. I am sick of dealing with these liars I will be blasting on ever social media about them being lying crooks. I have a cousin who owns his own news station which I already reported to and they will be exposed as they should be. My no. Is [protected] Sheri Robinson

National Tire & Battery [NTB] I went to ntb branch in annapolis md. I paid for the buy 2 get 2 tires free deal. the alignment was not correct.

I got to the store in the late evening on a Friday. They was able to get me, in(late due to traffic), they were unable to get a tire off because they need a socket that wasn't there. The two tires were done and I was to return the next day. The managers stated that he would not be in on Saturday and wrote clear instruction on the work order that the tires were set aside to complete next day. Also noted was that of the $909 ( may have been higher)bill that $450.00 was already paid. The next day when I arrive I explained the situation to the clerk, he then proceeded to the counter and told me I owe the $909.00+ . I explained again that the work was incomplete and to look at the work order. Well moving forward the tires were replace and the gentleman came back and was about to process the order. I then(thankful asked of the alignment was done. He said no to my surprise. I then told him to look at the work order. When back and did the alignment. I took the truck back to the inspection station and the man said the the alignment was not done properly. I went to a merchant tire shop near my house. The shop close at 7 or 8pm. The manager told me I had to leave the truck overnight to in order for them to look at in the am. It was 4pm and at the earliest it was to close 3 hours later. The Merchant Tire is located on route 193 in Lanham Md. The next day I went to NTB in Bowie MD for an oil change and to see about the alignment and emergency brakes. I was told that the upper control arm was bad, which could have been why the alignment was not done properly. That was 3 days of running around and I still don't have the correct alignment when all this could have been done in less then a day.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] alignment — playing with items in car

Store closes at 7pm. Well I take my truck in to get an alignment at 5:20 at 6:15 it's taken back and at 8:15 I drive off. I was told at 7:40 that the certified mechanic was called in "kieth Francis" aka the manager. I was told that he usually does the bigger truck types. I was given a warranty of until I'm satisfied. I brought it back in ten days later it pulled to one side. I made a 1pm appointment on Sunday July 9th, 2017 I was told it will be another 1.5 before it's gotten to "why make appt?" At 3pm I drive back it was finished at 3:05pm as I sided my paper and walked out to my truck I opened the passenger side door and noticed a knife was missing in front of gear shift, this closed blade knife hasn't been moved for years. I go directly back in and tell Keith Francis "manager" and he sends out justin the mechanic and he says no I haven't seen it blah blah blah I asked justin how bad it was the alignment and he says the truck did pull to one side and it's fixed so I asked him did he hit any big bumps to loose the knife in the truck and he said no so the only way I was told was to get the campers film unlocked was by making a police report I said ok. Then justin started looking for the knife and miraculously he found it between the passenger seat and console with the blade open! Now I have no proof who did what but if I continue to have alignment problems I will not be back. Why was unverified workers working on my truck to begin with.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] serpentine belt & harmonic balancer

So, on Thursday, I came in to NTB, in which I advised the mechanic working on my car that the past few days I had been hearing a squeal. He took a look at it and explained to me that the serpentine belt had needed to be replaced. I agreed to the services. He replaced it and I went on my way. Paid about $300.00 in services, then they supplied me with this long list of services that need to be replaced (all the way down to the spark plugs) The next day, I started feeling a vibration in the steering wheel and started hearing the squeal again. Last night, I take it out to my Dad's so he can look at it and long behold, when I go to start my truck, I heard a loud pop and the squeal was much louder and stayed consistent until I turned it off. Popped the hood, and there is the serpentine belt that has completely came off the pully. So I have been stranded in Paola for 2 days, with my three lovely children). Took it back in today, as NTB, did cover the cost of the tow truck. (So kind of them) NOW, this man is telling me that the Harmonic Balancer needs to be replaced along with its sensor, which is now mysteriously "damaged" & this mechanic (*cough*) excuse me, Manager, can't figure out how it happened. Mind you, regardless of whether the serpentine belt was installed incorrectly or not (argument #2) this part was nowhere listed on the wonderful log they provided me of "What you need to do". Needless to say, this mechanic/manager states that he is nowhere at all responsible for the damage to the Harmonic Balancer or sensor and I am now paying another $250.00 in services that could have been completely prevented if this Manager had knew what he was doing. Someone TELL ME WHY A MANAGER HAS TO CALL ANOTHER NTB LOCATION AND HAVE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DRIVE FROM ANOTHER LOCATION TO "DOUBLE CHECK HIS WORK" as he stated multiple times that he was unsure of the issue and that he has never seen this happen anymore.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] brakes at ntb

In February, I had a complete brake replacement at your Kirkwood shop in Houston. By April, the pads were worn out. The district manager got involved and provided brakes at no charge and replaced calipers (I was told this would fix everything) with me paying for labor. Now in early July I am here again, pads worn out and brakes grinding. Today, I have been sitting in the waiting room over 2.5 hours and no one has looked at my car and no one has given me any update. The lack of care and customer service at this location is appalling. I am changing brake pads more frequently than my oil. I expect not to be charged today but am sure I will be mislead again. I have spent $1400 here and still do not have professionally installed brakes. What will you do to make this right?

National Tire & Battery [NTB] transmission flush

June 14th NTB of Kansas City, Ks insisted that I needed a transmission flush and coolant for my vehicle. Me being a woman trusted what they were telling me. Soon after I left the location, my car starting acting like it wanted to die out. I returned to the location because I was getting all kinds of engine related messages across my dash. Now I'm in need of a transmission. My car was driving well; not having any related issues until that transmission flush. I feel NTB should pay for transmission, refund my tow and refund money spent on having a rental car.

See more detailed information below:

This place should not be allowed to do anything but maybe sell tires. They should never be allowed under the hood of anyone's car. I think they're all mechanics in training. I took my car in for a simple oil change. I was told by John San Agustin that I needed a transmission flush and coolant added to my car. I seriously don't think I needed a transmission flush for sure; doubtful about the coolant as well. I've been told by several other mechanics they were very doubtful about the transmission flush and if those aren't done properly they can ruin your transmission. He was also pushing brakes and rotors for an additional $600+ dollars. I feel like they take advantage of women when they go in these places alone. After driving about 1-2 blocks down the street, my car acted as though it was going to give out. I immediately turned around to head back to their shop. As I'm trying to make it back to their location, I started getting all kinds of warnings on my dash; "Engine Power is Reduced, Engine Overheated - Stop Engine, Engine Hot A/C Off, Service Stabilitrak, Traction Control Off". These are warnings that I took pictures of. My car was driving perfectly fine. All I needed was an oil change. When I arrived back at the shop, everyone seemed a little spooked. One of the technicians came out and his first comment was "no one is going to test drive it". I stated that someone was going to do something because my car was NOT having any of those issues when I brought it in. John that originally checked my car in seemed not very interested in my issue. He spent his time putting mulch down in front of the store. I thought WOW, He comes off very friendly until there's an issue. He didn't seem to want to have anything to say or do with my concerns. They pulled the car back in. Everyone stood around whispering among each other. I asked what was the problem. I was told by Manager Mike and one of their technicians stood along the side, there was possibly an air pocket that wouldn't allow the fluids to flow through, but they would take care of. Upon their completion, the technician took the car for a test drive. I rode along with him. It seemed somewhat ok, but the car never drove the same for about 2 weeks. It was always a jerky and seem like it was jumping even if I was at a stop light. My car dies completely out about 2.5 weeks later. I had to have it towed to their shop. I called the Manager, Mike San Agustin the morning (Sunday) of the tow explaining the car was going to be towed in. When I get there, he's already got a ticket pulled. Several mechanics come out and pushed my car into a stall. After waiting to hear something, Mike comes out to say he has to leave to pick up tires from another NTB location. He had a drive time of about 40 minutes; both ways. Well I had stuck around for about a hour and decided to leave. I called the store later trying to speak with Mike. I was told once again he had gone to get tires again and I had just missed him being there. I waited a few hours and decided I would drive in. Mike was amazingly there. He wanted to keep my car overnight to try some testing that one of his friends from General Motors would come over and do the next morning (Monday) by 9am. I was told he would be calling me by 10am to let me know what was going on. Guess what? No call from Mike all day on Monday. I tried calling the store twice Monday, and got no answer at all. The phone just rung on both calls. I was finally able to get ahold of Mike later that afternoon (Monday). He kept speaking on a 60 page document that he had printed off for me. I asked if my car was drivable. He said yes and wanted to know when I would be coming to get it. I'm guessing he wanted to know that, so he could make sure he was away. I didn't get the car until the next day (Tuesday). When I get there with a friend, we start asking different questions about the car and guy at the front desk. He states the car was drivable, but he also stated he wasn't allow to answer any questions. I was told to only give me the keys and the 60 page document. After driving off from 110th to 85th street, the car dies completely out again. Now I'm told I need a transmission.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] parts not needed

On 6/26/17 I visited NTB store #8471 1950 Route 83 Round Lake Beach Il 60073 to have new tires installed because of the buy 2 get two free offer. In the process of having my tires mounted and installed I was approached by the Service Manager Al Perez and told he had something to show me. H took me to the front of my vehicles passenger side. He shown a light on the upper control arm and told me they both needed to be replaced because the rubber was weather checked. I told him the user and lower ball joints had been replaced less than 4 months prior along with the Pitman arm and Idler arm by my local mechanic. At the time those items where replaced I specifically asked my mechanic to check all the front suspension components for wear or looseness. to which I was told the A arms were fine. I believe Mr. Perez took advantage of my lack of knowledge about the weather checking of the rubber components to sell me unneeded parts and labor. I live in the midwest and because of the road salt in the winter, rubber components become weather checked rather rapidly. I consented to having the parts replaced thinking they were acting in my best interest. While the technician was installing the A arms he called me over to show my my front shocks which he stated where also faulty because they had no rebound even though being lifetime Monroe shocks approximately 4 months old. I told the technician and Mr. Perez that I would take them to the original installer to have them checked. I returned today 7/1/17 after having the shocks inspected. The original installer compared a new shock to one from the front of my vehicle to demonstrate that there was nothing wrong with my stocks. The reason they did not rebound was because they are not gas charged shocks and as such do not have the instant rebound of a gas shock. Have no doubt the store would have tried to sell me new shocks as well as the A arms had I not insisted on returning to the original installer.
I have no idea if this complaint will generate any concern on your part, But I will caution all of my friends to stay away from NTB and will also post an unfavorable review of the store in question. I will never shop at NTB again except to redeem services I have already paid for. Tire rotations/alignments.
The invoice number for this service is [protected].
I can be reached at [protected] or jdickinson46.[protected]@gmail.com.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] false advertising/corrupted employees/management unprofessional & over sale

On Monday, June 19, 2017 I had a 11:00 a.m. appointment with NTB to fix my 2007 Dodge Caliber. When I got there the manager C.J., Charles asked me before I gave him my keys after he looked up my information because I previously been there and bought new tires for a 2001 Toyota Camry. Charles had asked me if my 2007 Dodge Caliber was a new car. He asked me four times. I told him I just want an oil change. I don't want any other service nor diagnoses. He didn't want to hear that and kept asking if my car was just purchased. He wouldn't start unless I had told him that my car was recently purchased in March. I also told him I had a regular mechanic and he is already is aware of my diagnosis. C.J. aka Charles (a white man) management still insist on telling me what was wrong with my vehicle. I just came for a simple oil change, is what I told him.

After 1 hour of inspecting the vehicle which they were not authorized to do without the car holder consist nor signature (Christine McCullough), C.J. the management tell's me, he can not do my oil change and because I need an new oil pan and oil gasket and tire rods. Which the estimate will be $851 to fix.

This is the second occasion I have encountered with C.J, - Charles where he has tried to up sale and refuse service because I did not accept his offer.

He then send's in another co-worker and his worker specifically tell's me I do not need a new oil pan, I just an oil gasket. And that is all I need to complete the oil change. But C.J. said I needed a oil pan, gasket, tire rods and he needed to diagnosis my car for $119. So his company will not be at fault if anything happens to the vehicle after their services.

Charles is very unprofessional, and on several occasions I have sat with other customer's who were not pleased with how he handle's business at NTB. He is certainly not management material and will do anything possible to up sale and make his store #1 even if that means being disloyal to the customers. Before Charles, I dealt with a African American man who was loyal to his customers and honest. Charles is corrupted and makes NTB looks disloyal and very dishonest.

I felt like he didn't care about us nor or business because we we're only spending 26.00 for a oil change and tire rotation and turned our business away. I called my mechanic and he advise me to run as fast as I can because Charles (C.J.) is a crook.

After leaving my car began to shake at the tire rods and my engine was loud. Something wasn't right. I Called NTB immediately and Charles told me he didn't do any service's on my car and whatever the problem is was pre-existing . At this time I am so frustrated, I have two babies in the backseat and NTB is so unconsidered that they would put me and my babies in harm. I never had problems with my rods shaking nor my engine roaring but barely moving. Not only that but I took my car to a certified mechanic and there was no leak in my vehicle and they did a oil change on my car.

I am very disappointed at how this company treated me and my family. Could it had be we are African American and Charles was racist and refused our services? Or was it because we refuse to spend $851 to repair what was not an issue or malfunction on our vehicle?

Not only that after the disappointment service at NTB and anxiety we have had by dealing with NTB. I had called the headquarters at [protected] and talked to a woman by the name is Jenna at ext. 4479. When speaking to her I was polite and ready to tell my story. I have bad reception in my area and my call dropped. 5 minutes later she had called be back on my main line and then I was feeling very optimistic because I had someone on the phone who really care's about my feelings and what I'm going through with this specific location. But I was wrong, she had called me back on my BOOST MOBILE number, in which I get perfect reception on and my calls dont drop. 3 minutes within the phone call she had hung up and called back 10 minutes later with a smile in her voice. Right now I'm feeling like, she is just like Charles and don't give a rats about me and what I've been through with NTB.

Jenna from customer service Ext. 4479 the entire conversation was upsetting and favoring Charles, with a smile in her tone. At the end of the conversation she insisted on calling me back once she gets in touch with the management at the Charlotte Pike Location in Nashville TN. She said she would call me back that day (6/19/2017) or on (6/20/2017) But I never got a call. She finally called me back on 6/22/2017 at : 3:47pm. And of course she favored Charles. She had told me my car had problems in the beginning and Charles did not do any services on your vehicle. And yet, my vehicle was in the garage for 1 hour and 36 minutes to be exact and they did not do anything to my car. My car barely drives and now it shakes dangerously after it was in there possession. I will share my story across the internet and the world to let others know not to do business with NTB! They are dishonest and will enable you from driving your vehicle if you don't spend all your money with them. They will make problems when there is not any on the vehicle just so you can spend your money with them. Especially this location. They don't care about you nor the endangerment they cause you or your family. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH! And I will not stop until this problem is rectified and C.J. and Jenna is discipline for their actions!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] had 4 tires replaced and returned vehicle with missing lug nut

On, June 10, 2017, we had an appointment to replace 4 tires. We went in and Stephanie Zapata helped us. When is was time to leave, the gentleman that brought the car around to us handed our keys to us. My husband quickly noticed, that one of the lug nuts was missing. The man said, "I could not find it!" I didn't take them off, the guy that took them off already went home." Well we cant leave with missing lug nuts. At that point my husband walked around the vehicle and notice some of the lug nuts were loose and one of them had been stripped. I proceed to go inside and talk to Stephanie, and she apologized, and went to look for our lug nut, which was never found. They put a temporary one. When we got home my husband was leary of the job they did and wanted to make sure they were tight, and the temporary one came off with his bare hand it is not the right nut for the post, it is to big. NTB, you are liable for sending us home with loose lug nuts.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] unprofessionalism to the highest degree

May/June 2017: If I could provide zero stars, I would. I bought tires at this location last year and also purchased the lifetime protection plan, which means I've had occasion to return several times. I base my zero-star rating on the worst customer service I have had in my life - long waits, lack of professionalism, lack of communication and mechanic mistakes. On two occasions, I was promised a call back and didn't receive one, and when I took the initiative to call them, the manager who promised to be there at that time wasn't there... and nobody else in the store knew what was going on with my situation. On one occasion, I was told something by the service manager that directly contradicted what the store manager had told me... only to be blamed by the store manager the next day for going with the service manager's version of the situation.

The most recent situation was that I had to make three appointments to address one small problem - lugnuts - that NTB caused. Suffice it to say I was so frustrated I left there without the problem being resolved because the additional stress and time just wouldn't have been worth it.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tire services

I bought tires from NTB in July 2015 along with a 3 year alignment plan for my Kia Sorento. I get my tires rotated, balanced and aligned every 6, 000 miles. NTB is the only company to service my car (oil change and tires) in the past 2 years. Near the end of March, I took my car in for normal oil change and tire services and I took my car to the NTB on Albemarle Road in Charlotte, NC. Recently I've noticed vibrations and loud noise while driving at all speeds. I took my car back to that location about mid to end of April and they told me it was a bad wheel bearing on the axle in the transmission. I took my car to Kia since there is still warranty on the car and Kia confirmed that it was not my transmission but my tires. I took my car to the other NTB on Independence Blvd in Matthews, NC today and was told that my tires are balanced improperly (one wheel had at least 30 weights on it and another had 3 layers of weights). They also said it looked like the tires had not been aligned or rotated and it looks like my front alignment has never been touched. I was told the front cambers cannot be adjusted because of this and the "toe" are stuck and unable to align properly. They informed me that because of the alignment not being done, my car may be damaged to the point that it cannot be repaired. When I left today, I was not offered an appointment to fix my car nor any sort of compensation of service to rectify my issues or compensate for damages done. My tires are now warped causing a pull to the left and loud road noise. So basically I've been paying for services over the last 2 years that haven't been performed. I tried to contact NTB Customer Service however, after waiting for 10 minutes I hung up. I'm requesting a new set of 4 tires of equal value to the ones I purchased originally and some sort of compensation for the services that were not performed but were paid for.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] new tires

I used to exclusively use NTB for new tires. After my experience at the Howell Mill location in Atlanta GA, I will NEVER go back to this company for anything ! I scheduled an appointment for my boyfriend and I to get all new tires on our cars. When I arrived for my appt I was told there was no record of our appt. They saw us anyway warning it would now be a wait.
New tires are put on and I drive off the lot and see my tire pressure meter is showing one tire as having no pressure. I return and am told someone broke my tire air pressure sensor. A gentleman then exclaimed "I told so and so that it was broken". So they knew it was broken and still let me drive off.
I am told I will have to return the next day to have a new sensor installed. I get a call as I am on my way that they were unable to locate a sensor and would need to reschedule. OK, more time wasted. I return 2 days later and have the new sensor installed but Im told they don't have the machine that resets the sensor. I am told an employee will come to my house and update the sensor there. I wait 3 more days and call to schedule the guy to come out, he says he will be there that day. The next day I get a call that he couldnt make it out and has to reschedule. It has now been 2 weeks since my tires were installed and I still do not have a working sensor.
