National Tire & Battery [NTB] new tires

I used to exclusively use NTB for new tires. After my experience at the Howell Mill location in Atlanta GA, I will NEVER go back to this company for anything ! I scheduled an appointment for my boyfriend and I to get all new tires on our cars. When I arrived for my appt I was told there was no record of our appt. They saw us anyway warning it would now be a wait.
New tires are put on and I drive off the lot and see my tire pressure meter is showing one tire as having no pressure. I return and am told someone broke my tire air pressure sensor. A gentleman then exclaimed "I told so and so that it was broken". So they knew it was broken and still let me drive off.
I am told I will have to return the next day to have a new sensor installed. I get a call as I am on my way that they were unable to locate a sensor and would need to reschedule. OK, more time wasted. I return 2 days later and have the new sensor installed but Im told they don't have the machine that resets the sensor. I am told an employee will come to my house and update the sensor there. I wait 3 more days and call to schedule the guy to come out, he says he will be there that day. The next day I get a call that he couldnt make it out and has to reschedule. It has now been 2 weeks since my tires were installed and I still do not have a working sensor.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] service

My grandson took his car to ntb cationsville on 5/30/2017 at 8:30 am. He received tires, oil change, rear shocks, front brakes, serpentine belt and a few other things. The car was completed at 7:30 pm. My grandson drove the car and had to bring it back because the belt unraved causing it undriveable. The car was to tolled back to ntb at 8:30am on 5/31/2017. The car set in the shop for 5 hours before anyone begin the work. I called at 2:00pm and the person said that they did not know why the car was there even after I had explained the problem that moring prior to car being tolled to ntb and again after I call to make sure the car had arrived. The car was there at ntb overnight because they failed to order the part needed and after the phone person told me that I would be the first car as the technical comes in at 9 am. Today is 6/1/2017 @1:48pm and the car is still not ready . The part did not come in until 12:30 today.
I am truly upset with you organization for their lack of professiona behavior. They do not commication with one another and it is unacceptable to wait two days for my car.
Please rest assure I will not be back.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] oil change

On 4/22/17 I went in for an oil change on my 2008 Chevy ImPala with a scheduled appointment. However, after waiting over a hour for service I checked with the guys and my car was still in the parking lot. I was told they didn't have a rack for my car. No one in formed me the whole time. I complained to the supervisor Charles and he told me to come back the next day. Fast forward to 4/23/17 my four year old daughter and I arrived for the oil change. They got my car in and it took 45 minutes to complete. Charles and another worker came out and said I was all set. No one went over any potential car issues at this point. I asked them how much was my oil change and Charles stated it was free. The guys went on to joke about them putting peanut oil in my car and it should work fine. I asked them what they meant by the statements with no reply. Now on May 16th on the way back to work my car stopped moving while I was driving. It was running but wouldn't go when the gas was pushed. I had my car towed to the show and was told there was oil in my transmission fluid! I am so upset. My car is now running funny and the shop told me that it is damaged

National Tire & Battery [NTB] no explanation why car was not checked once pulled into bay

On 5/9/2017 around 4:00pm I visited the NTB store on Central Avenue Capitol Heights Maryland to inquire about a brake inspection. The store representative checked my vehicle in and received my keys to take to the service area in the back. less than 2 minutes later I saw a person from the service department go get into my vehicle and take it into the bay area and parked it in one of the work area stalls that I could visibly see from the front waiting area of the store. Over a course of an hour I periodically looked at my vehicle and kept noticing that no one was attending to it. After about an hour of watching this I asked one of the store representatives to go check and see what is going on with my car. She returned and told me that she had just came to work and she did not know what was going on, something about the guy leaving. I told her that "I just asked you to go check to see what is going on with the car and you come back with that response" I said again please find out what is going on with my car She said I will go back and ask. I said "isn't that just what you went back there to do" She gave no reply while she entered the service area for the second time. the representative stayed back there with another gentleman for about 2 minutes and when she returned she stated that they will put someone on it now. I was furious and asked for my car. A service employee came to me and said to give him a hot minute to check the vehicle and I said no please give me back my car. I will never go to that NTB again. All I heard from customers while sitting there was the lack of good customer service. The store employees all looked run down, not happy and tired like they don't want to be there. Please find out what is going on and correct it before you lose more customers. I am gone.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] wheel alignment

Hello i took my blazer to them for an alignment i had just replaced all of the ball joints and upper control arms they quoted me $89 but charged me $190 when i went back to pick up the suv the battery was dead and had been removed from the suv they told me i need a new battery and i let them know it was a new battery and it would be replaced free of charge were i bought it, i drove to suv home and found the steering wheel was now in a left turn position while going forward and it pulled hard to the right, i hade the battery checked and the alternator they were both good and working just fine, i drove about 50 miles and got a service engine light code was p0410 i replaced all the parts and found that a air check valve was no good and had recently been removed and replaced with a bad one, well that explains why the battery was removed, you have to take it out to put a faulty part in its place and it had fresh sealer on the exhaust manifold and loose nuts holding it on, and oh yah they also tried to tell me a brand new ball joint was bad and i had just removed the front shocks and checked them when i installed the new ball joints, but i found that they put a pry bar to them and had bent them so they were now no good and i needed to replace them with a new set, so my total cost was $190 for a bad alignment $60 for a new set of front shocks and $275 for a new secondary air pump and 2 new check valves and $70 for a new solenoid for secondary air system and new vacum lines and then another $90 for an alignment at a quality alignment shop my total cost for an alignment at NTB was $610 WOW what a deal that was parts only, i do my own work to save on labor, this was september of 2016 that truck has been parked in my garage since then as i am not a rich man and it would not pass air team thanks to them, now the plates are expired and i can not drive it anyway, but it is fixed now and costs me another $53 a month for insurance and can not be driven to air team to be tested again WTF ! they suck they should just sell tires maybe they can get that right ( crooks ) do not go there for anything, stay away from them, or pay and pay for work you do not need before you go there.
have a wonderful day and please take my advice and save your money.
thank you.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tire repair/ customer care

I came to the Mayfield hts location today at 4 10 pm. It was raining, i parked and walked into the store in the rain. Once i entered i explained what happened. I ran over something and it waa stuck in my tire.
He said im going to wait to check you in cuz i don't want to go out in the rain. I said really? I walked in the rain and you don't hear me complaining. So he did wait til it stopped..which i felt was him being a big baby.
He told me if tbey can't repair it i need a new tire which then i explained that i havw a friend that will sell me tires at a discount. Well, he didn't like that and argued with me that i was lying and theres no way i could get a discount on a tire.
He never gave me an estimate on how much it would cost. Never came to tell me the status whether it can be repaired or new tire. Just drove my car to the door and said $32. Sorry but that's high to get a repair..brepair..but i paid and left because i didnt want to deal with him any more.
I like NTB even after the bad experience my daughter had in Columbus. Look i came back and i just got treated like crap. I'm not happy with my service there today.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] service 2397 fuel pump r&r 4wd; does not include

I went in on March 20, 2017, because my car had stop. The car was jerking back and forward and when I came to a sudden stop it stop running. I had tried several times to restart the car but it didn't start. To make a long story short I took my car to NTB 1360 Ring Rd, Calumet City, IL. I was told that a fuel pump was replaced. After I left I notice the car was doing the same thing it was during when it was brought in, jerking back and forward. I went to another mechanic and he told me the that the fuel pump was not fixed, that NTB just reset the engine light and charge me $266.00. I will not go back to that ntb again.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] oil change and tire rotation

NTB - Custer Road, Mckinney, TX
April 7, 2017
Order # [protected]
Took 2006 Toyota Sequoia in for Oil Change and Tire Rotation.
Was told it would be about an hour wait. Took two hours.
When completed, sales person made comment that had a center hub loose and needed to address it as it might come off.
I was in a hurry due to being an hour later than planned and didn't immediately check center hubs.
Drove vehicle a few miles home and upon pulling into neighborhood noticed a center hub came off as I turned a corner.
Upon detailed check found all four center hubs had at least half of the plastic clips broken off and were all barely attached. In fact, one had been glued to keep it barely on. The center hubs were not like that when I brought the vehicle in. They apparently were damaged when taking them off to do the tire rotation.
I called the store and explained what had happened to the manager. He said that these things happen and should be expected for an older vehicle but he would look into it and took my number saying he would call me back.
This is three days later and I have not heard a word.
I would expect NTB to replace the four damaged center hubs, but have not heard back from the store manager concerning the issue.
I am Extremely disappointed in the service and the response to this complaint from the manager at NTB. I am a long time NTB customer but if this is the customer service that NTB provides I will be taking my business elsewhere.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tires

Last month I bought four tires for my 2013 Prius at the store at 1689 Howell Mill Rd. NW, Atlanta, Ga. The sales person started out offering high-end tires with a lot of add-ons. The up-sale pressure was huge. I stressed that was too expensive. I ended up buying Bridgestone tires that cost $91.99 each. My total bill was 432.64. The gas millage I was getting dropped significantly -- from 52-53 mpg to 40 mpg and below. I went back and the manager, Curt Grant, insisted that I had bought the wrong tire. I could get a CAFE tire for $99.99 each. He said the reason the $99.99 tire was not recommended was because I was focused on price. I bought the Bridgestone tire but that required an additional $169.81 for the cost of a second installation, balance, etc. When we had first spoken about replacing my first set with CAFE tires I was expecting to pay an additional $125. On top of that, he was very slow. The process of selecting a new tire took 40 minutes. The entire time I spent waiting for my service, though I had an appointment was three hours. There was no respect for my time. The experience unnecessarily expensive and time consuming (requiring three trips and several several hours for two of those visits). I will never buy from NTB again. Instead, I will get my tires from the dealership.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] brakes

Our 2010 Honda Civic was due for state inspection here in Pennsylvania. We took the car to our local business, National Tire and Battery. They told us we need new brake pads, rotors, and calipers. They said the brake pads were low, rotors were burned and glazed and the calipers were damaged.
In writing, they said all the above should be replaced.
The next day we had the car inspected at our local Honda Dealer. The car passed inspection. No problems were found with the brake pads, rotors, or calipers by the certified Honda mechanics.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tpms sensor "replacement"

So, today I went in to Store #8987 because our 2007 Honda CRV needed 4 new tires.

During the installation, the service technician broke the sensor on one of the tires. After explaining that it was corroded because it was metal and not plastic (it was originally a Florida car), they offered a $10 discount on a $65.00 replacement sensor.

Not very happy about this but really, what were my options? My 4 tires were all bald, it's not like I was leaving without new tires today. So, I paid the $55.00, but really...if your technician broke it! Why am I paying for it?

After leaving the store, I am driving around and I notice that the tire indicator light is still on. What the heck? Why wasn't that reset? I call the store and head back a second time today to get that taken care of.

After waiting for 40 minutes and watching the service techs try and figure out what was wrong, they ended up having to put it back on the lift and "replace" the sensor they just put on.

Okay, come on now. Really? What are the odds that it just broke 20 minutes after they replace it? Did they even replace it at all or just charge me for it but not replace it and that's why the light was still on?

I am so disappointed in this whole experience. I had multiple friends post about similar issues with this particular "problem" at various NTB stores in Minnesota when I posted my problem on FB.

After spending $678.25, I was expecting a much better service than this. I was so hoping we found a reputable place to be bringing our vehicles, but it looks like I will keep searching. Just thought you should know.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] ntb annapolis is a complete ripoff!!!

If I could give this place less I would... I went there with a hole in the side of my tire on a friday, they ordered the tire I needed so that it would match the rest. They told me to call on monday to make sure the tire was delivered and everything was ready to go. I called monday morning and spoke with the manager, joe, he told me everything was ready and they would have the tire on the car and me back on the road as soon as I got there. I left work and drove there, there was one person working in the lobby, while the rest were socializing in the shop, they saw me standing there waiting to be helped but never came out, simply turned around and looked through the glass wall and then turned around and went back to talking. Occasionally a woman would come out and answer the phone and then head back into the shop to chat with the mechanics, she made it known she was not a mechanic while talking to the one person that was trying to help the customers in the waiting room. When the man finally finished with his customer he asked what I needed. I told him I ordered a tire on friday and I am here to have it installed, he said let me check it out, I said I called earlier and spoke with joe who said everything was good to go, he said okay and took the keys. At this point I had been there for almost 30 minutes, I waited another 20 minutes before they took my car back, after waiting about another 40 the man who had helped me came out and said it should be done any moment, and then 15 minutes later he came out and told me my tire had not arrived at the store yet and I would need to wait longer. At this point I was furious as I had been waiting for nearly two hours. How did it take almost two hours to figure out my tire wasn't at the store and why was I told it was in the first place. I asked to speak with joe, who I spoke with on the phone, which is when I learned he was the manager. He comes out smiling and says "whats up man, whats wrong?" I say how did it take two hours to figure out my tire wasn't here, and what have you been doing to my car this whole time, he says I made a mistake and was hoping it would show up while you were waiting but I finally called and they said the delivery guy called in sick and someone else would run his route later once they finished their own. I blow my mind at this point, I took off work to have this done and you're wasting my time to tell me that I need to come back later again. This is ridiculous! He smiles again and says sorry but I saw your old tire on the rim in the shop and thought it was the new one when you called, I didn't realize it was the bad one. At this point I get my keys back and he simply walks away, I have never had a store let me leave in a situation like this without offering something to make the situation better, the very least a discount on the purchase, but none the less I head back to work, a few hours later I get the call that my tire is there and its ready for me when I get there. I leave work again and head to the annapolis location. After arriving it again takes 20 minutes to be greeted by anyone as they were all again in a circle talking in the shop instead of taking care of their customers. It took another 15 minutes to take the car back into the shop and another 20 to put the tire on the car. The tech tells me what I owe and I say I need to speak with joe because i'm not paying full price for this after being run around all day. He goes to get the manager, joe, who comes in laughing and goes "what do you want man?" I tell him i'm not paying full price, this is #### and you've wasted over 3 hours of my time today due to your own stupidity by not running your shop like a real manager, instead you act like a punk and treat your customers like ####. He asks what I want him to do and I said to start i'm not paying any of the fees for installation, he says done, smiles, and walks away laughing, the tech comes out and says you just saved $11. At this point i'm again furious because i've never seen a manager let a customer leave so dissatisfied when they did so many wrongs. I will never go back to this place because they fail on even the most basic levels to take care of their customers. Customer service is a joke, I called as soon as I got back and the customer service agent couldn't careless about the whole ordeal.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] rude, unprofessional customer service

I just had new tires placed on my vehicle at the NTB in Fairfax, VA. at 5258 Port Royal Road. I have never in my life been so poorly treated and talked to in the way the manager today treated me. I am shocked and dismayed that I was treated in such a condescending manner and brushed off like my business didn't matter. Knowing that most tire companies in this area will match the pricing, I am much more inclined to shop and do business elsewhere. When paying for the service, I noticed an advertisement on the wall for a $100 discount for 4 tires. After asking which tires it covered, the RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL manager stated, "It doesn't matter because your tires aren't covered." I was merely inquiring about the deal because I was considering replacing my tires on my other cars. However, after his dismissive and rude and condescending tone, in which he would not even look at me in the eye when talking with me, I have serious doubts that I want to do business with NTB again. This experience is just another example of the disinterested, bullying nature of NTB managers.
NTB should be ashamed of themselves!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] ruined my transmission and refuse to admit fault or pay to fix

Took my car in on november 19th to the shop located at 8160 e broad st, blacklick, oh 43004 and requested a standard oil change. Only!
Received a call about 45 minutes later saying I needed a new air filter and that it looked like my transmission fluid had never been changed and the tech recommended a flush. Even took the time to explain how a flush works - that they drain as much fluid as they can, and use pressure to push the remainder out so that there is nothing left. Then replace with new fluid.
Me, knowing nothing about cars, agreed to let them add these services onto my bill.

Nothing else was determined to be wrong with my car per their inspection. No engine codes, brakes and rotors, tire wear, all lights working, etc.

Less than a month later (December 6th) , my car started having issues shifting and even accelerating, and eventually my check engine light started flashing.

I returned to ntb and explained what was happening, and they pulled it in to the garage and looked at it. They informed me that the code being thrown was p0742 which is tcc system being stuck on and was caused by the transmission fluid change. And that my vehicle (Being over 150k miles) should not have had a transmission flush.

When I informed the manager that I had not asked for the flush, that I was convinced, he agreed that the tech should not have even recommended the flush, let alone actually done the flush. And that my transmission was ruined. And was also told that ntb's policy in regards to transmissions is that if the vehicle is over 150k miles and has no record of previous transmission fluid exchanges or flushes, that they are not to even touch them.

Opened a claim with ntb, and have gotten nothing but the runaround for 6 weeks. Their insurance company (Sedgwick) got a 3rd party inspection company (Nwi) to go out to the auto shop that I had my car taken to (My normal mechanic who I actually purchased this vehicle from) , and the inspector claims that the damage to the vehicle was not caused by the fluid change and that a tech at the shop assisted and agreed with the inspection. I spoke to my mechanic and was informed that no one at the shop assisted with the inspection as it is against their policy, and when I called nwi to ask the name and contact info for the inspector, I was told they are not allowed to give me information on my vehicle. So I have been calling back and forth to sedgwick and nwi trying to figure out what is going on and who "assisted" the inspector, and why suddenly it was determined that the ruined transmission was not ntb's doing, and have gotten no answers. For 6 weeks.

So they are trying to say that changing my trans fluid was not the cause of my vehicle (Which had no issues prior to being taken to ntb. No engine codes. No shifting issues. Nothing. ) was not the reason my transmission is ruined and I no longer have a vehicle. Thank you ntb!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] antioch ntb appointment scheduling

Called and made an appointment for 12:30, got to the store and was told that I would have to wait at least 2 HOURS, that the scheduling department has NO IDEA what kind of business they have in the shop and I should have called them directly (called the number from the website). If the scheduling department does not know what you have to do, then 1) they should not be doing the scheduling and 2) if the store would properly update the scheduling customers would not get turned away at the door. Not to worry there are 20 different shops within 15 miles that provide the same services, I am sure one of them can honor their appointment schedule, won't be back to Antioch's NTB or any other NTB.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] charged for service not received

I am writing just to let you know how dissatisfied I am with the service I received at the NTB in Round Lake Beach, Illinois and with the terrible customer service I received from the district manager for the Round Lake Beach store (Jessie Ortega). Below is the letter I sent to TBC Corporation Consumer Relations department:

To whom it may concern,
I took my 1994 pickup in for 2 new tires and an oil change to the NTB in Round Lake Beach, IL store. During the installation I was told that the brakes felt soft and I needed a new master cylinder, I asked will this take care of the brake problem and he said yes. While they were doing the oil change I was told the drain plug was rusty and there is a 50/50 chance I will need a new oil pan. I asked how much is the oil pan he said it would be $150 for the part and $275 for the labor. I asked what the entire bill will be and was told $954 and it would take approximately 2 hours.
Later that evening, 7 hours since I dropped it off, I went back and was told by the mechanic he had other fires to put out while working on my truck and that’s why it was taking longer. I asked if he was able to get the drain plug out without replacing the oil pan. He said he was able to remove it and re-thread the pan and he was going to do the master cylinder next and it would be done tomorrow.
The next day when I went to pick up the truck the bill came to $903. I told him the oil pan was not replaced and it should be approximately $425 less. After speaking with the manager he got the bill down to $794.44 and said the brakes were still soft because I need a booster which would be about $600. I also had a $25 off any service purchase of $100 or more that I received with my credit card bill from a previous repair at the Antioch NTB, but he did not except it.
I have 2 new tires an oil change and a new master cylinder (that did not solve the brake issue) and it cost $794.44. I feel that this bill should be around $504 because the new oil pan was not needed and the $25 off coupon.
Please advise.

10-21-16 I contacted TBC again (Stephanie) because I have not received any response.
10-23-16 I received a call from Jessie telling me he will send me a spreadsheet with the brake down.
10- 25-16 I called Jessie back to tell him I did not receive the spreadsheet. I received the spreadsheet that day which was only a copy of my bill on a spreadsheet. I sent the spreadsheet back noting all the issues I had with the bill; see below:

265/75/16 OHTS Tires $173.98
Tire Disposal $ 6.00
IL State Tire Tax $5.00
Mount/Install $14.00
Balance $19.98
Lifetime Balancing $16.00
Road Hazard Coverage $26.10
Oil Change $37.99
oil Change DISCOUNT $(22.99)
Oil pan labor (includes remove/re-thread/re-install) $207.08

Oil pan was not needed or installed or removed -$103.54
The reason I do not think the oil pan was removed
because I was told that it was good that they were able
to re-thread it because it was a major job to remove the
oil pan and they were not really equipped to do it. If it
was removed than I was misinformed.

Oil Pan Labor DISCOUNT$ (103.54)
Oil pan gasket (part)$73.59
No gasket was needed or installed -$73.59
Refund $177.13
Brake Master Cylinder (Part) $110.59
Brake Master Cylinder (Labor) $87.19
Brake Flush $72.99

As I mentioned in my letter the master cylinder
was replaced because I was told they were spongy
and this would fix it; it did not fix the problem.
The master cylinder did not need to be replaced.
Since it was replaced I am not asking for a refund.
Shop Fee $35.00
Tax $35.48
$794.44
$613.31- Ignoring the unnecessary replacement of
the master cylinder this is the most the bill should be.
Please advise
Thank you, Gary

11-4-16 Called TBC (Laura) and said I have not received a response from Jessie again.
11-10-16 Called TBC and left message for a call back about Jessie not responding; I did not receive a call back.
11-11-16 Called TBC and was told by Laura Jessie will call me today.
11-14-16 Called TBC told Sandra Jessie was not responding and she connected me directly with Jessie. Jessie told me that they had to remove the oil pan to thread the hole for the plug and that is why they had to put a new gasket on. The reason I do not think the oil pan was removed because I was told that it was good that they were able to re-thread it because it was a major job to remove the oil pan and they were not really equipped to do it.
