This breeder has sold numerious puppies to unsuspecting buyers. Ms Lynn and Renee Overy and Lynn's boyfriend John Steib were the subject of many counts of animal abuse. Mr Stieb was just fined $20, 000. The article can be read here;
http://www.app.com/article/20090729/NEWS/907290356/1285/LOCAL09/Breeder+fined+for+selling+sick+dogs

I have owned Golden Retrievers in the past and before I made a decision with who to buy from I did my research but there wasn't any complaints against this breeder at the time. I now own a golden, Hunter, who has been diagnosed with a severe case of Sub Aortic Stenosis(SAS) which is a fatal heart condition. There is no known case of a dog that has been diagnosed with SAS that has lived past 6 years old. We are heartbroken but are giving him the best life a dog can have.

I cannot find this breeder to be able to serve them w/papers to at least recoup some of the $3000 that I have put out so far.

Casey, I am so happy to hear this! God bless and I hope you get a healthy golden puppy!

I have had a golden in the past that had lines from "gold rush". I think you will be very happy with yours. If I'm not mistaken Mary Tyler Moore owned quite a few "Gold rush" goldens..

Take care and would love to see a photo of your new puppy!

Just so you all know the "two bit crook" is monitoring this site. Apparently she just doesn't see what piece of garbage she is and I can't believe she can't be shut down! If I had more time on my hands I would make it my number 1 priority to do so!

Feel free to email me any suggestions.

It is 2017 now...Just my opinion, but I would do a lot of research before going with a puppy from anyone! If you don't, it's your own fault. Dogs deserve MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT THESE PEOPLE DID TO THEM! I would never buy a puppy from a pet store either, who knows where they come from.

The breeder didn't get shut down, she asked for help in placing her dogs.. You people should really get the facts before posting! READ http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Please-Help-HEART-s-Husky-Rescue-2013.html?soid=1109815831059&aid=yRHvt8tw5O4 Some may have had giardia, Giardia is not life threatening and there are many ways for a puppy to contract it and it is also easily treated,

As for seizures Siberians are known to have them NO ONE can detect if a puppy will have them at a young age or as an adult. Cancer is also common in Golden's and Siberians unfortunately cancer can show its ugly face in animals and humans without any prior history maybe people should do their research on a breed to find out the good and bad.

Amy Waddington I didn't read any thing about animals being tortured as you so claim in all the news articles, not sure where that information came from. NEWSFLASH THEY HAVE NO MORE DOGS SO OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE SHUT DOWN!
The ugliness you wrote in your comments would make anyone question the type of person you are to voice so much hatred towards another human being. Hatred is a poison that destroys use from within, producing bitterness that eats away at our hearts and minds. This is why the Scriptures tells us not to let a “root of bitterness” spring up in our hearts.

One last thing it wasn't false pretenses they have many show dogs and did genetic testing here's proof.. once again I did my research and found this webpage

As of this week Lynn Overy and John Steib are on the run. They left my house in Hannibal, New York after 50 dogs were seized. They not only had the dogs seized, but they stole a four wheeler and basically cleaned the house out - including the hot water tank. I have been feverishly trying to get them out by contacting everyone - police, ASPCA, citizens against puppy mills, attorney general, dog warden to name a few. They may still be in New York state, but may have also booked back to New Jersey. People please beware! - John also uses the name Jim Leon and Jim Stevens. Lynn uses the name Cheryl and Renee Overy. They went under the name Northernlights siberians and Bright Star Siberians. They are in hiding for now - but their friends and relatives will be helping them to start all over again and do this to somebody's elses home and LIFE. House is destroyed. Dogs are all safe and have been rescued by the ASPCA and most of them have been adopted out (soooo glad about this - my main goal). I was also told that they monitor this site, so F*CK YOU - ### OF THE EARTH - YOU WILL GET CAUGHT - IF NOT IN THIS LIFETIME THEN IN THE NEXT. HOPE HELL TOURTURES YOU LIKE YOU TORTURED THOSE POOR INNOCENT ANIMALS. You underestimated me and NO I will not stop until your shut down permanently. PEOPLE DONT BUY PUPPIES OFF THE INTERNET - DO RESEARCH - DO BACKGROUND CHECKS - WISH I HAD.

OMG my daughter got her Brody from Cheryl and Jim from an August litter. The morning after she picked him up in the Montvale rest station, he couldn't breathe. We had to take him to the Oradel Animal Hospital and he was in ICU for 3 days and $3, 000 later.
There was something inside us that said not to bring him back to Jim and Cheryl, we spoke to the doctors and I felt they might drown him if we returned him. We still have not received his papers and I spoke to the police officer in charge of their case in Momouth county and he said we can forget it, BUT he said the only was to shut them down is if we get together and sue. He says nobody follows through... There were a lot of people that day picking up puppies. We must all live around each other. Lets ban together and shut Jim and Cheyl down! Contact me at Huskypup822@yahoo.com and lets see what we can do to get them shut down FOREVER!

So glad to hear that this breeder is finally getting shut down through the work of many dedicated people. We bought a Siberian Male puppy from them in the summer of 2006. I did do my homework, checked out their website and spoke with Lynn multiple times. We did not buy a puppy from a pet store or any other back yard breeder. For anyone who is feeling bad about being fooled, don't feel bad ...they were very convincing and obviously deceptive..
Our Kodi had diarrhea at first but I was able to quickly clear it up, however at age 1, he began having seizures. They are fairly well controlled now with phenobarbital but every 4-5 months, he will have one. They are terrifying to watch especially since he sometimes has cluster seizures. When I tried to call them to get advice and help, I spoke with John once and he denied that any of their dogs had seizure disorders. I asked to speak with Lynn and never got a call back. Now I know the real story ...

John Steib(aka Jim Stevens) and Lynn Overy(aka Cheryl) are living at 487 Wiltsieville Road, Hannial, NY [protected]. They were last operating under Bright Star Siberians and when they advertise they say the are out of Farmingdale, NJ. They tell people they will meet halfway because they don't want people to see where the dogs and puppies are kept. Must be stopped!

The information in the post from August 9th is correct and I just confirmed that they are still living there. Jim Stevens is one of the names John Steib uses. Please file complaints and do whatever you can to stop these people. I know that the big issue is how to place the dogs once seized. I think if enough people fight together against Overy and Steib they can be shut down and the dogs and puppies placed in homes and rescues. Anyone have new information? How is Jack? It breaks my heart to see what these dogs and their new families are going through because of these greedy, twisted individuals.

I recently purchased a Siberian husky from possibly this breeder. I found them on a website for multiple ads regarding Siberian huskies. They were selling Siberian huskies and their location was farmingdale. I found it weird that there are absolutely no pictures of the parents. However, I dismissed it. They save on travel fees by delivering the puppies either to the house, or a public location such as a parking lot. The breeder's name was Jim, and the person I have done the emailing with for the puppie's name was Cheryl. After taking home my puppy, he came home with a contract and special instructions to take care of their puppy. Their name is now called Bright Star Siberians. They told me that they would send me the AKC paper work. It has been since June 26th, since I have got him. I emailed them and told me they will send out the papers soon and gave me his number. I checked it on AKC for the registration number and completely nothing was there. Jack also was diagnosed with Giardia and diarhea from day one of bringing him home. He has got a bit better, and he has been on medication twice. I saw on his vet papers that they only written on the contract that he was treated for panacur 2 months in a row. When I asked Cheryl about the giardia, she said that he must of contracted it from the dog park. How can that be since they always have so many litters that are being made every month or so? After researching their phone number information online, I stumbled across a profile that she have abandoned. It had her address and I typed it on white pages. Living at the address was John Steib and after typing in his name, I found these articles on him. I have done alot of research on my own, and he have signed the contract as what it looked like was Jim Stevens. He is also listed as 66, and the article was written for him when he was 61 in 2009. Now that I have information, can I do anything about my puppy? File a complaint with the aspca or akc?

I know where these people are now - anybody want to know? They are renting my house at 487 Wiltsieville Road Hanibal, NY 13074. Under the false pretences that they had "show dogs", that were to be kept in my barn. I stupidly rented my house to them. When going out there to collect the rent on August 7, 2013 I was able to see the total destruction of the inside of my house. There were cages lined up in my HOUSE with puppies in them. I called the police and we are having them evicted and animal control is involved. Lynn Overy came to the door with open sores all over her body and John Steib gave the police officer a false name and proceed to tell the police officer he did not remember what his birthday was. Most of the puppies had no water and he lied about that too. Since NY state has no laws set up about puppy mills or lisences, there is nothing they can do, but I can. They ruined my house, now I will ruin them. oh by the way Lynn Overy's phone number is [protected]. Lets put these sick dirt bags away so they can no longer hurt anyother puppy or person. you have 3 weeks before they are evicted - so SUE away!

5 years ago I bought my Golden from them - my golden was not sick as a puppy however he was 3 1/2 when he was diagnosed with cancer we treated him - at almost 5 he has now been diagnosed with cancer again in 2 more areas of his body and again surgery most probably followed by chemo - my vet said that although goldens are prone to cancer - when you see it in young dogs it is usually bad breeding - they are NOT responsible breeders. if you bought any golden from them have every lump and bump needle biopsied no matter how young they are. these people should not be allowed to breed dogs. also if you go on the bus they travel with to dog shows you will observe an abundance of litters stacked in cages - but very few adults I LOVE MY DOG and will do all that I can for him ...but I WILL NEVER USE THIS BREEDER AGAIN!

Anyone get a pup of the supposed birth date of 12/25/2007? I too have a beautiful - yet sick boy from these awful people. My Logan was diagnosed with giardia (sp) very severely. He underwent several rounds of antibiotics and was finally cured. After several attempts/threats I finally received his AKC papers - and now my four year old boy was just diagnosed with degenerative lung disease. The specialist recommended that I contact the breeder and alert him. We are undergoing some very hard decisions now and am very upset with this so called breeder.

I just realized that the message I sent (two messages back) about private emails was not very well stated and may have been confusing. I think that it is important, especially for the new people, to know how this works and that they can speak individually to someone without the rest of the group seeing it. Here is how it works: If you click on the person's NAME that you want to contact, it will take you to his/her profile page. On that page there is a "Send Message" bar that you can click. Leave a message at that location and the message will go to only the person to whom you are writing. It will not go to his/her personal home email address, it will come through the ComplaintsBoard, but only she/he will see it. When you first log on, look to the RIGHT (not left, as I stated incorrectly before) side of the screen. Toward the top is will state if you have received any emails. Click there and see what has come to you personally. If you can't find that, go down lower to the "Messages" section and click on "Incoming". That will show the last incoming messages you received in chronological order. Maybe I'm just not as bright as the average Golden, because I did not notice the information telling me that I had private messages and was relying on the public forum. DUH! Anyway, if it is to be seen by all, do a comment in this section. If it is to go to an individual, click on their name and send it from their profile page. And don't forget to check and see if anyone has tried to contact you individually. I think I made it clear enough so even now I can understand what I said.

None of these bad comments or stories suprises me. I had dealings with Lynn Overy when she and her botfriend lived in Cicero, N.Y. She bred a Canadian Champion Golden that she owned with my Golden and found numerous reasons to charge me twicw as much as our original deal via a phone call. At this point my Golden was in the prime days of her heat cycle and it was too late to find another breeder. She charged me $1000.00 plus 2 puppies from the litter. It was my first time breeding and I was naive and agreed with her terms. The pups were beautiful and healthy as I was the one taking care of them. But we found out afterwards that the Canadian Champ sire had
bad hips, so I never bred any of their offspring. She also sold the 2 puppies from the litter at an exorbinant rate of
$2500.00 per pup and told the new owners that they were buying the pick of the litter. She also told them that my
female was a Champion which she was not. I found all this information out after the fact when I was contacted by
the new owners later on. Consequently I never dealt with the woman again, as it was clear that she was a dishonest rip-off artist. Signed anonymous

I purchased 2 Goldens from these people is September 2009. They were allegedly 5 years old when we got them. We were told that they had 3 litters of pups and that they were being retired. They were thin when we got them but we were assured this was because they just had puppies and hadn't recovered. I never had a female dog before so I bought the story. We put them on good food and they filled out and their coats got much better.

Through K9Data.com it appears the one dog had 5 litters( http://www.k9data.com/offspring.asp?ID=171608) plus the one she had before we got her. It also appears she was 7 years old when we got her, not 5. I wonder how many litters she had that weren't registered?

I can't find any information on the other dog. I'm sure she was bred repeatedly so they could keep selling Golden puppies. I just had a tumor removed from her which was cancerous. The surgeon did a good job removing it with no cancer cells on the perimeter. They also don't believe that the cancer spread to her lymph nodes. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

These poor girls must have been through hell. Fortunately they're with us now where they are truly loved, get to play in a huge yard and have clean water and plenty of food.

ME AND MY FIANCE BOUGHT A SIBERIAN HUSKY FROM JOHN A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO, AND SINCE DAY ONE, THE PUPPY HAS HAD DIARRHEA. AFTER A MONTH OF TRAINING, THE DOG STILL PEE'S AND POOP'S IN THE HOUSE AND HER CRATE! I HAVE SENT JOHN EMAIL AFTER EMAIL, AND WHATEVER ADVICE HE GIVES ME, WE DO. NOTHING IS HELPING THIS DOG. HE DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT HE HAS SOLD US A SICK DOG AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AFTER READING ALL THIS, HE DOESN'T WANT TO ADMIT THAT HE HAS SOLD LOTS OF SICK DOGS. HE IS JUST A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PERSON FOR DOING ALL THESE RETCHED THINGS TO THESE POOR, INNOCENT DOGS. I REALLY HOPE THIS MAN GETS SENT AWAY TO PRISON.

I was browsing around looking for Norther Lights Siberians website and I stumbled apon this site. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I bought a Sibe from them in Oct. of 07. His belly was huge and he smelled awful. He had loose stools for a very long time and it took me forever to get rid of all his worms. I just thought it was a fluke. They never gave me the papers I was promised and I called them numerous times about it. They kept promising to mail them to me but never did. Our dog Koda has seizures. I'm not sure how often he has them that we don't see, but I have seen a few. They only last a few seconds but it feels like hours. I cannot believe what I read about these people. I really just thought my dog was just an isolated case. Thanks for creating this site! I hope they get shut down.

My husband and I purchased two siberians from Lynn 5 years ago. At that time she had two locations, New Jersey and one near Syracuse New York. One of my husky's had every parasite known. The vet was shocked that he didn't die. My female husy's has eplispy and a thyroid condition that was diagnoised 4 years ago. She is on medication that cost over $1oo.oo per month and still has 5 to 6 seziures each month. I cannot tell you how hearbreaking it is knowing this, this should not happen. They did have a website back then and was showing huskys and goldens.
My husband tried to contact them just to get some information about the eplispy and we wanted to inform them so they stop breeding the dog, but we also could not get in touch with them, either by phone or internet. We so love our dogs, and give them love and a good home.

I purchased a Golden pup on 7/30/2010 was told she came with AKC papers, Health certifcate, and a 2 yr. garr. it's now 2 months layer and I still have not received any of the proper paper work. I also contacted the AKE org. and they told me she hasn't even registered any of her pups in over a year. and to make matters worst after bringing the pup in for her first shots we found out they sold us a very sick puppy she was sick with Giardia which is a Parasite. not knowing this I became sick after having her for just a few days and my doctor tested me and I had some how contracted it from the the puppy. the puppy has been under treatment for over 5 weeks now and I have spent hundreds of dollars in vet bills a medications for the pup. just trying to get her better. hopefully people will read this before purchasing a dog because these are the last 2 people on earth I would ever want to buy a another dog from. they took my money I got nothing in return for it but a very sick puppy. I guess the only way to look at it is as my Vet said I more than likely saved the dogs life !

What a shame to read all this... We have two beautiful extremely well tempered Goldens from Northern Lights in Colts Neck, NJ. Nobody knows if their dog will be healthy or unhealthy, we are not God... What I do know is my Goldens are the most beautiful well behaved One year old puppies ever! We are thrilled with them. We lost our Golden, from a Pet Store 2 years ago, from liver and kidney disease, you never know what will happen, you just have to love them every minute you have them! Thats what makes them our pets!

'while john from northern lights was perfectly nice and friendly, there was something off about his presentation.. he arrived in a van with a few other pups and was dodging the important questions of paperwork, shots, being AKC registered, etc.. combine that with these horror stories, things just did not add up.. we also found it odd that they wouldn't let us visit their home and meet the parents of the puppies etc... '

oh my god! i just f0und this and I can't believe it! We were going to get a husky from them! It was the same story! He happened to have a puppy with him, avoided a lot of questions, and we could not visit the home! When we tried to call them, and either never got through, or had to leave a message... we were curious about it.

Now I know to go elsewhere...

We also purchased a golden Retriever from Northern lights in 2005. We have spent over $10, 000 dollars on her since we have had her. She had elbow dysplasia surgery last may. She has horrible allergies she is on thyroid Medicine, I give her aduequan shots every month, she is on perscription food and she gets Cosamine twice a day along with 2 benedryil and has some hip displasia. I love her to death and I am glad i have her, because i think if someone else had her she probably would have been put to sleep by now. She is the sweetest Dog I also thought I did my homework when purchasing a puppy. B oy I WAS WRONG!

Our names are different, and we are native Californians, never having lived in New Jersey. Our dogs are healthy and we have multiple references from satisfied owners. I was absolutely mortified when I saw this post as I could not believe that the name of this breeder is so close to mine.

Sincerely,

Patricia Mandrup
