Beware not to leave your cell phone in the hands of a
cop because the cop may place a listening devise in your cell
phone where the batteries are and invade your privacy by listening to your
phone conversations in the case if you
are investigated for something stupid because of their delusions. If you hear echo like you are in
a tunnel, this means someone is listening to your conversations on the phone.

Some Northeastern Sergeants are making out and having sex with students and Northeastern Employees in the gym, after the gym hours and after the gym is closed. They conduct their acts in the fitting room where are the showers.

There are some weird signs all over the school wall, including the bathroom.

A agree with the above. Depending on when you are reading this, I am either currently enrolled at Northeastern Illinois University, or I have graduated . I came to Northeastern Illinois University because of the recognition the Admissions team presented me. I fell into the trap of getting wrapped up by all the pretty picture and lights. Northeastern Illinois University presents this image of being cutting edge, being more practicing practical education, and the big turn key of Graduating earlier.

I decided to attend Northeastern Illinois University on the fact that I was supposedly able to finish masters degree quickly, affordably, and efficiently. They also have an open enrollment status, and advertised "advanced placement", meaning that I was able to take classes at my own pace, thus allowing me flexibility and freedom.
My decision was based on their propaganda and the information provided to me by my admissions counselor. I was also told that many professors would allow me to take on extra projects if I felt that the classes were not challenging enough.
I also want to reflect on the attitudes and overall friendliness of the college. For the most part, everyone that I had spoken with was rude, unfriendly, and inconsiderate. The financial aid department misplaced several sections of my tax forms, and as a result, I was not able to get funding within a reasonable period of time. Admissions will say anything to get you in the door (yes, I know this happens at any school, but they will call and email right to the weekly legal limit before harassment.

Overall, I got the impression that they were more concerned with the bottom line than the quality of their student body, faculty, and education. All of these factors contributed to my dissatisfaction with Northeastern Illinois University and the reason for my withdraw.

This is the 3rd community college where I've taken classes and is definitely the worst. The coursework is for imbeciles who don't want don't know anything and care to learn nothing more. Plus the financial structure is pure evil charging students 3x the already pricey admission and tuition fees if they don't live in the Chicago district. If you want to waste money on learning nothing, this is the place for you!
One web development class I took involved me teaching myself out of the book. And I paid them for this? To me, however, the most frustrating thing about Northeastern is they rarely award student loans. Even when I qualified for student loans at schools before and after I attended Northeastern, Northeastern claims I did not qualify. This was after a few month process of them sending me various forms to fill out as well as compiling lots of documentation as to my financial status. They say it's to keep students from getting over their heads with student loans, but we're talking federal loans here not some private lender. So would they prefer that students not go to college or else charge it to their credit cards which are much less flexible than student loans? Or are all students simply supposed to have parents that can and will pay for their education? I wouldn't attend this school again if they paid me.

Worst college experience ever! They drain your wallet dry and just don't care. I'm a very good student, and i was a victim of severe verbal abuse by a professor and I did everything in my power to withdraw from the class to not hurt my GPA and I got denied twice. Or people who have financial problems and are denied FAFSA but people who have money are approved. All in all, if you want to go to a school that cares more about your money than yourself then this is the right place to go!

For these reasons I believe that you should keep every, single piece of information concerning your enrollment and admission, and bring them with you to each meeting. Otherwise, they will send you searching.

I went through the entire admissions process, all the way up to the day of registration, before I realized that I had been given incorrect information. I was required to take classes that I had already transferred in as well as classes that I could have easily placed out of. (the dreaded CIS 101. When I questioned my department counselor about these requirements conflicting with their current marketing materials, I was told that the materials were outdated. (The materials were printed and dated for the same school year that I was planning to enroll) I also want to reflect on the attitudes and overall friendliness of the college. Currently in my senior year graduating from the biology department with a major in secondary education. Yelp is filtering all poor reviews. You can read their negative comments in their "filtered" section.

They are way behind technologically I include a limited selection of classes and a difficult registration system. They are getting better but not there. The biology department is poorly equiped, again getting better though. - The professors have been threatening a strike for 2 years because top management received a 30% pay raise while faculty has received a pay freeze. Strike = no classes. This is plastered all over campus. - advisors are not qualified and often miss needed requirements. Of 3 friends who have graduated 3 had to get special overrides after being refused graduation due to advisor oversights. I am included in this as I have already prearranged graduation overrides. - communication is non existent and I am convinced that the phone lines to the financial aid office are dummy lines. I have never had a phone call answered or a message returned in 4 years. Financial advisors WILL return calls after 24-48 hours. You have to go in in person. All of this could be overlooked except the graduation problems. Most of this can be chalked up to normal college failure but the problem graduating on time can cost you an extra 1-2 semesters and you won't find out until a week or two before the semester you plan on walking for graduation.

The administration is a joke. I have been here for a year or two now and I have to say that the administration has no idea what other departments do, much less their own department. The student organizations that this place doesn't get one star. But to answer one simple question took one week and being bounced back and fourth between the same 4 departments 13 times (I counted). To get anything done, you really have to be a nuisance to these people.

I have had a very unpleasant experience. The staff in the education department have often been rude and condisending. Students are expected to find their own way through the program using a guide from the bookstore. You are definitely a number. If you miss a deadline, your out of luck.

Aside from the relatively light bill you have to pay, roughly $2500-$3000 for five classes, the University bombs out big time when it comes to the administration. I transfered in from a different institution, and I have never recieved the same horrible serive that I have from this uiniversity, and everytime they made the mistakes, I had to pay for them. I was dropped from all my classes one semester becuase I ddin't confirm it, becuase they never sent me the bill. I recieved numerous parking tickets at the beginning of the semester because they were late in mailing out my parking permit. They would mail out bill reminders for tuition, AFTER it was due. The complaints are endless. My serious considerations for anyone even considering this school, unless your are pressed for cash, or it is convenient, I would seriously look to other institutions, I have seen junior colleges with a better selection of classes, and in some cases the classes in the junior college are even more challenging, I would know because I got my associates degree from one.

Beware also the vocal music program! They teach by one outmoded pedagogical method, and if your technique isn't strong when you walk in, it won't be when you leave. The very best of NEIU graduates exit with light, small voices; if that's not your voice type you will struggle. They will tell you why you're singing badly, and not be able to help you change anything. Beware music theory, too; you will pass with As and Bs at NEIU and then not be able to pass a theory entrance exam anyplace else.

I was very unhappy with the studio arts and ecspecially the sculpture department. recources available were not used because the teacher did not have the time. the teacher felt it was more important to help him with his work for an upcomming show. critiques are non-exsistant: you are not allowed to critique anothers work- only compliment it. the students overall mentality is the more we are unchallenged the better

People in NEIU are not friendly including staff is the worst. I've studied in Truman College and I've best experience ever. Truman staff is the friendliest and helpful to students including professors, advisors everyone. Whereas, in NEIU, its not the same. I tried to take appoint with the advisor and they didn't respond to my e-mails, try to contact by phone but still gave me hard time to give me appointment to see curriculum advising. This is the worst experience I ever had. If you go to advisors office always sitting idly and chatting. Specially, Imelda Venturina the worst advisor ever. Shame on them. why NEIU still keeping people like them. Advisors Dept is the most important and they're the one no interest in helping students.

A certain linguistics teacher (male) WOULD NOT GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO TEACH/INSTRUCT ME. I SEE HIM AS UNFAIR TO certain students --PREJUDICE? If half the class had done as well as I did, he would have given them "A+" yet he gave me a low pass, and claims to justify his action. So, choose your instructor wisely... ask questions.

Worst school ever.If you are from out of state and do not know anybody in Chicago, stay away, YOU WILL NOT MAKE ANY FRIENDS HERE.The students are very unfriendly, and have their little cliques.Professors are very infair and unapproachable.Admisitrators are not helpful, If you are going to reply on public transportation be prepared to walk atleast 25 mins before you get to the school.All in All I am glad I got out of there.NEVER AGAIN!

Galindo Arturo beat up his hispanic coworker 6 years ago and was given 1 month paid suspension and to get psychological evaluation.Galindevaluation.Galindo Arturo Jr. was determined unstable to perform his cop duty due to borderline disorder, multiple personality and shizophrenia, and yet he is in uniform.i m sure NEIU Paul Kruszynski leytenant and Frederick Brehmer have kept Galindo Arturo's race decrimination a secret from independence police authority because they support them, and it would have impacted the accreditation of NEIU police department in a negative way.

I agree that there is a racial discrimination at Northeastern Illinois University, and they prefer to hire black people instead of white one. I went to one of their tests for a position at Northeastern Illinois University, and there were only two white people. One of the white people was me, and everything else was black. The person who stayed in the room was black too. He was nicer to the black people and treated them with respect. However, he was very rude to the white people. I think his name was something like Davenport or something like that. In addition, when I went to human resources to apply for another job, the black lady over there was very rude to me. It seems there is some tension between black and white at Northeastern Illinois University. From my experience, I can conclude that black abuse and treat with disrespect the white students or employees at Northeastern Illinois University.

I went to a test for one of the open positions at Northeastern Illinois University, and I scored 100 percent. However, they never called me for an interview although they said at the beginning of the test that they will invite to an interview everyone who has 100 percent on the test.

I just would like to complain about Officer Galindo, who stopped me and started to insult me in the most disrespectful ways by talking without making any sense. Here it goes my true story. He said that there are demons in me who tell him to kill me. After I saw that he started taking out his gun, I ran away. When I went home, I told the story to my sister who is a doctor. I told it to her because I was afraid that I might get arrested for running away from a cop. My sister said that I did the right thing because this guy is not on himself. She said that there is a big chance that this guy might have one of the forms of schizophrenia since he showed to have the following symptoms: emotional blunting, intellectual deterioration, disorganized speech and behavior, delusions, and hallucinations. She also said that I should not get arrested for trying to protect my life. Based with my unpleasant encounter with officer Galindo, I would like to provide other students with the following advice: stay away from this guy and do not talk to him. He is CRAZY in the real sense of the world. If he started getting his gun once and for nothing, he will do it again. Remember: People's previous behaviors are sign about how they will behave in the future.

The purpose of this complain is to report the juvenile behavior and marijuana- induced shenanigans of Sergeant Brehmer who is a friend of lieutenant Kruszynski. In fact, lieutenant Kruszynski hired Sergeant Brehmer, and that’s just one example of how the bureaucracy at Northeastern Illinois University works.

I am a male student, and I take evening classes. One late evening after class finished, Sergeant Brehmer stop me and asked me whether I would like to buy marijuana. He even started to taste the white package he showed me. I said that I don’t take marijuana. After couple minutes, he said that he will kill me if I ever tell someone that he has been selling drugs. He even said that after he kills me, he will drink a beer and take a piss on my grave after he kills me.

I was just ready to go away because I didn’t want to deal any more with the disrespectful behavior of this creep. However, he drag me to a police car with a gun pointed at my back. He said that if I don’t go in the car, he will shoot me in my liver, and I will die very slowly and feel lots of pain. So, I went in the car, and he started touching me everywhere including my private places. His excuse was that he is checking me if I have some illegal drugs or wear a gun to school. However, he looked to me like a homosexual pervert who is mentally ill. If he was checking me for drugs or a gun, why he said that I have a big ###, and he likes giving a blow-out to big ###. Just a suggestion for the students at Northeastern Illinois University: Always stay away from this guy because you never know what to expect from him. He is just using his power to do whatever he wants. He even does not care if he will break the law. The only reason he stays in his job and has been hired is because of connections, but he is a complete jerk and all he needs is to be sent to some mental hospital for mentally ill people. After I asked him several times to let me go because I had it enough, he started laughing. He said that’s how we do things around here. Get used to it, as I quote.

My impressions of NEIU were that it was comparatively inexpensive and held the bar low for student admissions. It's cheap, yes, but you only get what you pay for. The faculty here lacks focus and direction, and lectures meander into pointlessness far too often. It's easy to feel like you're sitting in adult day-care with the freshman lectures. Speaking of money - I advise any student attending NEIU to submit their student loan applications early. Like, half a year early. Trust me, you're not going to regret this. The financial aid office is, be it for staffing or whatever other reason, woefully unprepared to deal with the workload presented to them. For this reason it will take weeks, but more likely months to complete any loan processing. Let this be the single most important thing I can say in this review: get your financials in order as early as you possibly can.

I pay out of pocket and live on my own, so the price was right. I was willing to travel 1-2 hours each way every day after work. They have put me through so many circles. For months they have had me on the back burner, dragging me along, which left me barely any classes to choose from. I just got off the phone with them transferring me back and forth telling me they might have misspelled my name and I need to come in to finish registering. Coming in to register means I need to ask to leave early from work, which means I most likely cannot, which then means I can't go to school. Dealing with NEIU makes me want to cry

NEIU is better than Bert's College-O-Rama, but the term "higher learning" is applied here only with much generosity. University bureaucracy is a mess. Tuition is great but you may regret not having paid more for a better school elsewhere.

Based on my personal experience, NEIU is not a good school at all. It is not taken seriously and majority of students there are not taking their education seriously.
Like Texas State U, its NOTHING but frats and seemingly endless supply of 18 year olds who party a lot. I would say that NEIU is really not a place where a new person could meet people.
Also North Park, Albany Park, or Jefferson Park are not safe at all. There is shooting almost every day. There are lots of gangs, and they kill each other all the time. Sometimes they shoot innocent people because they think that they are members of the gang which is their enemy. Based on my personal opinion, it's better to choose UIC, and the area there is much safer than the area around Northeastern. Also there is lots of racial tension in this school among the different ethnic groups, mainly blacks against white and people born in the U.S. against Europeans and Middle eastern, which includes staff and the police department.
Students don't have enough homework to retain the information.
Instructors provide feedbacks in several weeks about students' homework.
Many students sign up for the same class, which does not provide students with the opportunity to receive the individual attention of the instructor whenever they need it.

Students party a lot. If you don't want to take your education seriously and want to party, you can come to NEIU.

It is not taken seriously by employers, and students don't get their money worth after they graduate.

I am a student at Northeastern Illinois University and would like to report the unprofessional and discriminatory actions of Sergeant Rombount or Rombaut, officer Galindo, and the Chief toward the Hispanic and Latino students at the Northestern Illinois University.
I went to the Northeastern police department at 8:20 p.m. to retrieve my stolen bike. After I left, Sergeant Rombout said behind my back” These f*****g immigrants, Mexicans or whatever Central Americans they are.”

Also, one day I was in the locker room changing for the beginning of my extracurricular activities Rombaut came toward me and said to remove my car from the parking lot. He said that this has been an order of the Chief. However, I was told that at this time the Chief was not in charge of the parking so he had no authority to regulate the parking rules. At this time I was parked on level 1, and the Chief has told Rambaut to order me to park at Level 2. I removed my car to level 2 parking lot as I was told by Rombaut, but I do believe that Chief’s action was retaliation against me because of the grievance I wrote yerlier this year about the discriminatory actions of officer Galindo and Sergeant Rambaut. Further, the Chief allows his boys from Northeastern to park their car anywhere they want without a permits and does not tell them anything. Some officers also park their vehicles on Level one (behind PSO) without any permit at all, and the Chief does not tell them anything. At the time, I had level 2 permit. After the mentioned conversation with Rambaut, I purchase Level 1 permit for which I paid almost double so they won’t bother me anymore.
The grievance report I made was because officer Galindo was kicking my shoes in the locker room and made a dent on them without any reason.

Officer Galindo has also insult me when he stopped me and started asking me whether I am the ghost he saw in the cemetery where he visits his dead brother. Isn't that a crime for a cop to come to work when he is drunk or on drugs, or Northeastern does not do any psychological evaluations and just hires mentally ill people to protect the students and the community.
